another way to look at life... ?
Oh dear, it seems you're a [wagon]. hehe. He was probably joking, being as pretentious means using big words to seem smart... I wasn't joking. This fatalist crap is what I expect to see from angsty fourteen year-olds who want to sound profound by spouting some crap about how nothing in life matters, and they're so hardcore they're willing to kill themselves or anyone without a second thought. It's indicative of an individual who hasn't actually taken the time to formulate their own honest opinions about life, and thus fall back to a fatalist philosophy. There's no logical reason for a well-adjusted member of society to say that life sucks, nothing matters and they'll do whatever they want, and the hell with what anyone else says because nothing matters. Besides, if they actually believed the absurd rhetoric that comes out of their mouths half as much as they like to say they do, they would have put themselves on the end of a short rope long ago. Except they haven't. Because they're stubborn cowards who refuse to admit that they don't actually have anything profound to contribute.

I haven't got the patience nor the spare time for comics. I might still do it, anyway. Uni doesn't seem to be piling too much work on me yet...

Coal / Nucleur ??? What kind of energy would you use???
Nuclear power is completely safe unless you're talking about criminal negligence and stupidity combined with a USSR-built reactor. Oh, and it actually pumps out less rads than a coal plant.

first signature on MSpaint...
If I recall correctly, the French won the Hundred Years' War, which coincidentally began in the year 1337. On topic, it'd be a good idea not to post your first work, as other people have pointed out. It would be an even better idea to think of a more original concept to base your art on. Learning to draw on paper before trying out the computer helps a lot.

Clean Energy
You can bet this concept is going to cop some flak from oil companies trying to protect their interests.

One less student at my school.
Sounds iffy. It sounds like they only tried to disarm him once, and not very well at that. With two experienced officers, I fail to see how they couldn't beat the everliving crap out of the kid until he was unconscious and no longer a threat, rather than putting a bullet in him. What firearms do the police use in that area? If the kid was wounded with a 9mm, it's hard to believe that he didn't survive after first aid. If the weapon fired larger rounds, the police should have used any and all methods at their disposal before shooting.

The most epic battle! (Or hardest).
Beating Irresistible Blokes [iB] in a randomly matched GVG battle on Guild Wars. They were formerly #1 on the European ladder, for those who don't know. That was a solid 40 minutes of epic. ... Okay, so they were using their iB International smurf guild for practice, but all bar one of them had the trimmed cape. >.>

"Legal Highs" and the anti-drugs legislation
You can say the same about alcoholics and people with gambling problems. You can say the same about anyone who has an addiction that can only be sustained with money they no longer have.

The World of Astri
Hello, fellow denizens of the Library. I just wanted to share my pet project with you all, a D&D campaign world called Astri that I've been developing for the past six months, between exams and such. It recently broke the 25,000 total words mark, and I thought now's as good a time as any to share it. So without further ado, I give you the table of contents. Note of course that this is a link to another site which hosts play-by-post RPGs. Hopefully this is still acceptable here in the library, seeing as how it does qualify as an original work. The second part to this is that I'm also looking for talented writers to contribute their work, either as short stories or ideas for content, in order to flesh out the world even more. PM me if you're interested.

"Legal Highs" and the anti-drugs legislation
Governments should legalise. Why? Because then they can tax the hell out of those drugs. I can see why they don't, though. At the moment, alcohol and tobacco companies are too powerful to risk losing the support of by introducing more competition to the addictive legal drugs and intoxicants market.

RTS Games
I find that the Total War games are excellent insofar as that you can apply Sun Tzu to them without worrying about magic or giant flying lizard-tanks.

dieing.... its underestimated
You watched him die? You didn't help him in any way? You just stood at the foot of his bed and watched him decay? That's cruel. :notalk: The hell did you want me to do? Toss him a friggin' Phoenix Down?

dieing.... its underestimated
I watched my great-grandfather die of old age in his hospital bed. I was 12 at the time.

See, this is why 61% of the British Muslims want Sharia law
I can explain that, actually. It's not a strictly spiritual reason, but an ecological one. Traditionally, the peoples from whom the Abrahamic religions originated occupied an area with scarce resources and stiff competition for water and arable land. Those sorts of conditions foster a need within each separate society to be naturally wary of strangers and competitive with other tribes, often in violent ways. Consider that it is much easier to persuade skeptical people within one's tribe or town, if you will, to take up arms against rival tribal units and city-states when one presents a "divine" decree. Bear in mind that the vast majority of people would not have been able to quickly grasp, and with fervour, the concept of an ecological reason to make war and seize land and livestock. Thus, a "spiritual" reason would be in no small part useful as a rallying point for disparate peoples in times of need. This applies not only to war, but other things as well - ethical values in society, manner of dress, relationship with one's parents, et al.
