I hope that there's all this big buildup to Korra unmasking Amon and when she does he is just a random guy with a hideously disfigured face and everybody feels really awkward. I am a simple man with simple desires.

To be fair, the Equalists aren't entirely trained in fighting airbenders as much as water, earth, and firebenders. Their equipment can be blown away easily, airbenders have excellent reflexes, and the children caught them completely off guard. Yeah, it sucked to see Lin was having issues, but there were a lot of chi-blockers at the island and she was caught off-guard by them on the second ship. It's a bit weird a 30-something character sounds like a teenager just to do it for the fanbase. Similarly Equalists aren't exactly trained to beat up on children. I hope they can pick things up for the finale, last episode started off pretty poorly but picked it up as it went on. I think they were really hurt by the shorter season length, even just bumping it up to like 16 episodes would've worked, would've had the decent pacing of LoK without the filler of TLA. They could've used the time to humanise the Equalists, examples of that were v. lacking in the season. They kinda tried to do it last episode w/that prison guard, but it was too little too late, and the whole sabotaging rescue boats thing wasn't too good either. I liked how at the end Amon didn't bother with any bad guy speech w/Lin when he wouldn't help her, just went "well okay" and debent her.

What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
Fear 3. Picked it up for $8 as a Steam sale. The co-op shenanigans are pretty great, and the jump scares that are left are pretty funny when they happen to your partner. Well worth it for what I paid for it.

I think it'll just be that he has the power/strength of will or whatever to just push through Tarrlok's bending. It's a lot simpler than cyborg technology, and it makes Amon more effective as a villain. Though it would be hilarious if Korra hit Amon with a fire blast and part of his mask/face came off to show a glowing red eye, Terminator-style. The episode felt really rushed. Between the love triangle bit and the flashback (I was not a fan of Sokka's VA, same with Aang's but to a lesser extent), along with the polarbeardog ex machina, I wasn't too fond of it. A definite step down from last episode, at least. Lin ramping that tram, Aang's airball 2.0 and Amon's "I am the solution" were the highlights, I think. Also Bolin. Pretty glad that the finale will be an hour long. e - I hope Tarrlok doesn't just drop off the face of the earth after this. I really want to see how he reacts in the long run to having no bending.

What book are you currently reading?
11.22.63, by Stephen King. I really like Stephen King books. I could read about strange things happening in small towns for aaaages, the horror aspect isn't even the most important part. Which is good because Stephen King doesn't really do horror very well, I think. It was pretty great, it even had a decent ending, if predictable, which is a pretty rare thing in Stephen King stories. Up next, The Road, by Cormac McCarthy.

The Game of Thrones TV series - Season 4
I think that this reason is why they can afford to focus on Dany a lot less for at least the next season. I feel like her current arc is nice and complete for the moment, and they can definitely use the time to focus more on Westeros characters. The House of the Undying scenes were great, especially the one with Drogo. It's crazy how much expression can be felt through a made-up language. :v Theon and Stannis were probably my favourite characters in S2, and I hope their actors get the recognition they deserve. As for the ending, it kinda looked to me like the leader took a glance at Sam and was just like 'hah, not worth it'. Seeing the white walker in full profile was great too, I really like the look they went with for them. Now the wait for Season 3 begins.

Enjoyed the episode, though some parts felt a bit rushed. The bits at the beginning with Tenzin's children and the group was pretty funny. I like to think that Tarrlok's actions against non-benders double as both a power grab and a way to force Amon out into the open for him to take on. Otherwise they just seem two-dimensionally evil. I definitely don't think he's in league with Amon, either. He flipped out when Korra compared them both. Fun fact time: Yakone translates to "blood on the snow" in an Inuit dialect. The things you can learn on the internet. ~foreshadowing~

E3 - 2012
Nintendo fires Sakamoto from writing, announces Metroid Prime 4. More news on Half-Life (Episode) 3, Beyond Good and Evil 2, and the announcement that Sega will be developing a sequel to JSRF. In a perfect world these would all be things that would happen. Apart from that Far Cry 3 and Assassin's Creed 3 will both be things I'd be interested in hearing more about.

The Game of Thrones TV series - Season 4
Yes, those notoriously reliable mercenaries. I remember when Tywin hired the Brave Companions, they did a splendid job of representing Tywin's interests and following his orders (ha get it I am being sarcastic wakka wakka). Hiring sellswords to defend a place under heavy siege would be a pretty terrible practice. Could you say where you got your force numbers from? I was under the impression that both the Vale and the North held less men than the lands the Baratheons hold. The Vale is small and the North sparsely populated. Robert was chosen mainly because he was the instigator of the rebellion, Jon Arryn was elderly and Eddard didn't want anything to do with being king. [spoiler=Dorne stuff in spoilers/purple-haired man]Doran knew he wasn't strong enough to face the Lannisters who had become buddy-buddy with the Baratheons, which is why he wanted to marry one of his daughters to Viserys. The Martells would get vengeance, one of their house as queen, and a massive Dothraki horde to supplement theirs and the Golden Companions' forces. Doran Martell is similar to Tywin Lannister in that he is very cautious and deliberate in his decision making, perhaps moreso than Tywin. I don't know any purple-haired dudes from DWD, but I guess you mean Aegon? It doesn't really change anything, just introduces a complication to Daenerys' plot. I guess it subverts the themes of lineage and blood if they end up fighting each other. As for the last bit, I don't get why you're suddenly altering your argument? You were arguing pretty hard that blood and lineage were pretty significant themes. For what it's worth, I agree that they are themes, I never said they weren't. I just disagreed with your explanation of Tywin's decision to take Robert's side. Though I feel the themes of blood and lineage are more there for subversion than anything, see: Robert having Targaryen blood but being a pretty lame king, and Targaryens in general being batshit insane. As for schticks, I probably buy into Varys' explanation the most. "Power resides where men believe it resides. It's a trick, etc."

The Game of Thrones TV series - Season 4
King's Landing is near impossible to take if Tywin garrisoned it. His army is the only one untouched from the war (he basically sat in Castlerock during the entire war). The only reason why Robert got to sit down is because Tywin has no claim to the throne and supported him (where the choices were either Robert or Aerys). Saying blood isn't a theme in GoT is laughable. Just because his army was untouched doesn't mean it was the largest. Robert's army was more than prepared to take it from the Targaryens before Tywin and Jaime saved them that trouble. They would've taken it no matter who held it, the only difference being in the number of lives lost. This line of discussion is moot because Tywin wouldn't have thrown away the goodwill generated from his victory over King's Landing for a short time on the throne. He's more subtle than that. Dismissing all of Tywin's motivations to not take the throne because "blood is a theme", and doing the same with Daenerys' inclusion in the plot, is equally laughable.

The Game of Thrones TV series - Season 4
You're looking too far into the past to keep thinking this. The Targaryens did just use an army to establish their kingdom. But this war isn't about establishing a new kingdom. It's about controlling what already exists. That means playing with what the Targaryens established. What you're claiming is altogether irrelevant. If there were no "rights" or whatever you keep pining on, then GRRM wouldn't have placed so much focus on lineage in the story. Why do you think Tywin Lannister, the person with the greatest army and wealth in Westeros didn't just take the throne? Because he didn't have the right to it. That's it. He wouldn't have had to bow down to Robert Baratheon. He would've just sat on the throne. Or why even focus on the existing Targaryen(s)? Because blood is a significant theme. You keep saying that no one has the right to the Throne when the entire story focuses on people who have a claim to it. Because the rest of Robert's army would have taken King's Landing and killed him. I don't know where you got the idea that he had the greatest army from. The closest thing AsoIaF has to a theme, at least at this point, is that might makes right. And maybe the fact that little people get shit on. The funny thing about nobody having a right to the throne is that everybody has an equal right, which is only augmented by their strength of arms.

Tribes: Ascend - free-to-play multiplayer FPS
I play a couple of CTF rounds every week or so. I generally play a Tech or Brute on base defence/generator offence respectively as I can shoot and I can ski, but I can rarely do both well. But going fast and nailing someone with a direct Spinfusor hit is easily the best feeling of accomplishment I've ever had in an FPS. I love the game, I just wish I was better at it. :v

The Game of Thrones TV series - Season 4
Have some casting news for Season 3. I guess there are some mild spoilers in there if you haven't read the books, so be forewarned. Really liked some of the casting suggestions in the couple of comments I read: Maggie Smith for the Queen of Thorns and Tom Hiddleston for Edmure.

What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
Wrath of the Lamb, the Binding of Isaac expansion. Everybody should buy this. I think at the moment it's $5 for the original game and the expansion, well worth the minuscule cost for the amount of play time you can get out of it.

The Game of Thrones TV series - Season 4
This was the next episode I've been really waiting for since Ned's death. It did not disappoint. I'm glad the Hound's actor got a chance to act a bit, since they gave what was probably his best scene to Littlefinger. Brilliant performances from everyone all around, especially Cersei. I hope the House of the Undying next episode is as good in its own right as this battle was. They should blow the rest of their budget on making it as creepy as Pyat Pree is. Some of the dismemberments looked a bit off, especially Tyrion removing that dude's leg. e- Rains of Castamere owned bones too ee- The scenes with Sansa and Cersei also seriously reminded me of the scene in Breaking Bad where Walt and Walt Jr. open up a bottle of tequila, haha.
