The official World of Warcraft thread.
you can easily outfit yrself in all the gear you need if you don't mind dying a few times. run around the island a few times, picking up all the moss-covered chests you can find, get the three weekly chests (the one on the ropes, the one on the pillars, and the one at the very tippy top w/the crane statue. do yr best to not fight rares on yr own, most people will announce them in chat. get the one time chests in the cave w/zarhym, the two chests at the yaungol camps, the spelurk cave, etc. the only mobs that should really give you trouble are the steam guys, the snakes and the second tier of yaungol dudes, all easily avoidable. either save the coins you get for a weapon or use them opening up kukuru's chests for more gear and some burdens of eternity.

What movie(s) did you last see?
the world's end is real good. above shaun of the dead, but only a bit below hot fuzz. maybe i felt the style was getting a bit stale but it was still amazing how pretty much everything said and done and introduced was for a reason and paid off later on. and edgar wright is so good at directing action stuff. definitely a lot more meaningful than the last two i think, as well. a lot of stuff that i could spend ages talking about, probably, if i wasn't so tired. [spoiler=ending spoilers]am i alone in assuming that pegg's character would have killed himself at the end of the golden mile, had everything gone as planned?

Starbound.
some things it definitely needs - way to set your teleport point on a planet - easier ways to log/bookmark specific planets, otherwise there's not much point in building things - access to easier/better ranged weapons earlier on - more underground stuff - ship expansion - better difficulty curve also with that comparison, a lot of stuff in that video is flat out incorrect with starbound as it is currently and terraria as it is currently, so it's pretty pointless to link.

What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
the starbound open beta just came out so i played about an hour of it and got pretty quickly overwhelmed. i'm glad they have kind of a tutorial questing experience because i would be lost otherwise. i'm sure once i figure out how to do things i will sink a ton of hours into it

What do you guys do when you're bored/alone?
cuz i'm a huge nerd i design worlds for tabletop campaigns w/my friends while listening to frank zappa also i guess i read and play video games and write and other nerd shit that i'm deeply ashamed of and you shouldn't take any of this advice if you want to turn out a decent human being

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
i'm gonna go with the crazy suggestion that the dude just wanted to say something funny on the internet and he used elements of hyperbole to that effect and succeeded pretty well

Avatar: The Legend of Korra
it would suck having unalaq, killjoy extraordinaire in yr head while growing up. the reincarnation thing could really go either way, though i think i'd like to see the reincarnation thing happen. it wouldn't even have to be a dark avatar, just a different one. i'm glad they had the guts to make large changes to the setting/story (keeping the portal open, erasing the previous avatars). there are some things i'm sure i don't like if i think about them, but until then, the fights were cool, the animation was cool, some of the characters moments were cool (i hope they're finally over korra and mako) and i'm looking forward to book 3. they have a lot of ways they can take it, and i'm hoping for a smaller scale plot, because you can't really top 10000 years of darkness apocalypse. if they do go down the road of having korra reconnect with the past avatars, maybe do some assassin's creed shit where she witnesses their lives. the writers (lately) seem to do better writing small contained stories instead of season spanning stuff (see wan's 2-parter vs the varrick plot, the civil war, etc). i still didn't like how lin was handled this book, and that the detectives, bafflingly enough, turned out to be actually that stupid instead of corrupt. also it's really funny to me how little asami did in the finale. i don't think she even got a line. also they've come a long way from "did jet just die?" "it was really unclear." we didn't see that advanced airbending, either.

Where did you get that from? Like, afaik, no where has that been said or even implied. http://imgur.com/a/OGaCq also, apparently a bunch of stuff was probably forgotten between wan's time and aang's time, it could be one of those things. i guess how important you view it depends on how much you value continuity in a story. if ignoring stuff from atla was necessary to make the 2-parter so good i'm okay with it.

Avatar: The Legend of Korra
nah, the one that gave aang energy-bending was the one that gave wan firebending. but yeah that's definitely also a possibility, lion turtles were giving out bending so humans could survive in the wilderness, so maybe people living on other turtles lived in harmony w/the spirits around them like the airbenders did.
-
Avatar: The Legend of Korra
the answer to the first (i think) is that the lion turtle bending was only temporary, all of the forms and disciplines (you saw how bad the dudes that tried to fight Wan were at firebending) were learned from the animals permanently. the second is pretty much unanswered. just other earth/air/water/fire turtles? subdivisions like metal, plant, lightning bending? completely new elements that were lost? it is a mystery

i miss goddess cuz i never got to tell her how cool it was that she named her baby thor or w/e. and before the movie even came out that took some serious foresight

Clubs are tragic
yeah but you should probably follow that thought through fully, why it's considered taboo, and prob come to realize it's based on p. old-fashioned and puritanical views about a woman's sexuality. and then think on why you wouldn't date someone for that. is it because of peer pressure or whatever? are you just grossed out? cuz i mean it's not that big a deal but it's pretty rude to just go around calling women who go home w/people from clubs sluts.

Clubs are tragic
i think the saying goes "he who lives in a glass house made out of weird hangups about women shouldn't throw stones"

What movie(s) did you last see?
dredd - very pretty movie, i read they wanted to make violence pretty or whatever and they succeeded pretty well. i definitely wouldn't have minded seeing it in a theatre or w/ever. also cool to see wire actors getting work, even if like 90% of his screentime could've been filled w/a sack of potatoes e - said pretty a bunch but i'm rolling w/it
