  1. I think that this would be a good idea to actually be implemented into the game, it ties in with Jagex's use of humour in the game (ironic/self-deprecating), but i'm also equally sure that a number of people with skillcapes (even if it was only an option wether you used the proper/current one or the joke one) would get angry about it and moan and moan and moan like little girls (no offence to little girls) about how it had been cheapened or some such.
  2. I thieved/killed men in edgeville for about 30 mins, then did lost city, bought a d long and went to ardougne to thieve cakes :D . I nearly died to Black Demons in edgeville dungeon soon after my cake gathering session. Then i spent a couple of days meandering through the world. Twas fun.
  3. Its a good game but i think many, many people were put off by the number of poor teammates they encountered. In several games involving moi there were players that still didn't do what was asked (update info) after me telling them literally 7 times step by step what to do. The really depressing thing is that these people were not just time wasters (like people who continually close doors) they wanted to participate but they lacked the basic level of patience and/or intelligence for sustained teamwork. These people made up 1/4 of people i played with. This makes the game almost unplayable. I havent been back to BA in a week or so and probably wont be back ever.
  4. Almost exactly the same thing for me 2 days ago except i had to kill a zammy mage aswell and i got Rune pick, Rune dagger, Rune wc axe. the clue also involved a puzzle. This took about an hour and a half (the whole thing). So i'd say the difficulty of the clue chain has nothing to do with rewards, and thus probably its entirely random. Now i think about it that clue scroll COST me money to do :boohoo:
  5. @thread starter: I see what you are trying to say, i could counter your points point by point (a lot of points \ ) but that would take a long time. I will say this, Jagex is at the mercy of its consumers (us paying members) and yes if everyone quit then the game would cease to exist and jagex would lose a lot of money. However i don't think everyone will quit at the same time, rather there will be a gradual drop in numbers of players followed at some point by a massive drop as the game died. I don't really see this happening as according to all figures released Membership is increasing. Eventually the game may die but not today or even next year. Also if a business is expecting to make for example $50,000 in revenue (on any given day)but doesn't (for whatever reason) they do not then take more time to do the work that was already scheduled. Businesses have reserves of money and creditors they are not run using short term plans that mean they lack money to pay employees (unless they are an awful business).
  6. It's interesting that Runescape is important enough to be featured in news articles, unfortunately the writers of said articles did approximately no research (they could have tried playing the game..). Parents feel that while we're playing on the computer we are wasting our time. We should of course be inventing cures to various diseases 'yeh our bad'. If i have free time i spend it on the computer if not i hang out with friends. I don't do anything particularily constructive with my non-free time so why should my free-time be different? If i go and play football then yes i am improving my fitness, but i am still playing a GAME that I ENJOY. If playing games made you more arrogant/stupider/lazier/disconnected with reality then yes there would be cause for concern but they seriously, totally don't do anything of the sort so let the kids play! There are certain tasks in runescape that i don't enjoy. Some slayer tasks for example or runecrafting, so i don't do them/do them when i'm in a mood too. I very rarely find myself thinking 'gawd this is boring' while playing Runescape and if I do I do something else ingame or in Real Life. So i don't think of anything in game as work.
  7. coloured eggs: zero Frog tokens:11 Firelighters:3 red eco tokens:4 heads/hands: cockratice head Pouches:1 Castle war tickets:11 Full random:zombie (1)
  8. +1 Herblore is the slowest skill to train (with the possible exception of runecrafting). Making 50 strength potions will put me up one level at level 34...unless your buying ingredients its incredibly slow.
  9. When i first got members a month(ish) ago the thing that most excited me was treasure trails. I did about 30: 1 lvl 3 and about 15 each of lvl 2 and 1. What i realised was that the Runescape god's hate me and the best thing i've gotten is black(g) platebody, except for the lvl 3 where i got 30 nature, a rune pick, a rune dagger, a rune wc axe. The lvl 3 reward makes my average better but from the lvl 1+2 clues i got useless stuff that i could buy for less than 2k. I refuse to do any more clues actively (kill things i know will drop clues just for the clues). It's not that i lack patience, it's just i hate spending 30-45 mins walking from place to place to search boxes and dig in the ground for a black dagger and some mind runes. I don't play Runescape purely to make money, i play for enjoyment and clue scrolls are boring and gay. edit-sorted spelling
  10. did 500 gamble on the advice of some team mates got a rune axe.
  11. I don't understand these people who claim to feel nothing when playing Runescape. If pixels is just pixels as several people have eloquently stated why do you play? I mean what does it matter if your charachter (made of a dozen pixels) can click a yew tree (more pixels) and harvest some yew logs (pixels) which you then either sell for gold (pixels) or craft into unstrung bows (pixels). Get my point? I get rather angry when i die Because of pkers or lag. I'm happy when i complete a quest (even though i detest quests) or when i gain a critical lvl. In short i FEEL a lot of things when i play Runescape.
  12. The only reason to withold certain features from f2p players is to give them an incentive to become a memebr. Thusly there is no reason for not allowing f2p players achievment capes, wildy capes and other similar things. Unless of course Jagex is not the happy go lucky, only makes money as an offshoot of doing what they love, and genuinely cares about each one of their clients regardless of wether they are f2p or p2p (which is the carefully crafted image they have created for themselves). I've had members for nearly a month now and i'd say my money was well spent, but i can't understand why they don't update f2p, afterall everyone starts f2p and the better that service is the more likely you are to upgrade (at least you are if you're like me-which granted may not be true of all players). As has been stated f2p players earn Jagex revenue indirectly through ingame adverts. Thusly it is glib to say that f2p players don't deserve new things because they don't pay.
  13. From what I understand dreams are made up with what you were thinking/doing about the day. So essentially if you were to play rs only for a minute you could have a runescape type of a dream? :-s We all knew some moron was going to say something like that. I've had a dream about RuneScape before, although I no longer remember it. thanks, who are you and why did you feel the need to call me a moron? I think its pretty obvious that to dream about something, it is because you are thinking about it. Pretty basic mate and to be thinking about something is probably because you either have been doing it alot or want to be doing it at that moment in time so thanks but next time keep your thoughts to yourself? Actually, you're wrong. I don't quite understand why you asked who I was, but o.k... Anyways, moving right along - you're 100% incorrect. You're not thinking about it. Your self conscious mind is - you don't chose what you dream. Also, you could have only thought of RuneScape for a single second to dream about it. You have to do something a lot to think about it? Really!? Wow. Hmm, that's so unbelievably odd that I'm not thinking about breathing, isn't it? Also, most dreams are in a setting or situation that is not exactly possible in real life, so I wonder how that could be done often. Oh, "keep your thoughts to yourself" - And to think, here I was thinking a forum was to share thoughts and ideas. How silly of me! Point - this guy was obviously not having a go, ur response gives us some insight into how reactionary and defensive you are. also your subconsious gets inspiration from..dunddaladun your consious thoughts. In lay terms your subconsious is a siphon for all the consious thoughts you've had recently. So he was infact Correctumundo. Say on Tuesday you contemplated an ant and its existance for a few minutes, and on Wednesday you contemplated a car. On Friday you may have a dream about an ant driving a car or you driving an ant like a car (how sick would it be to drive a giant ant?)
  14. just last night or the night before i dreamt i was at Barbarian assault luring runners. Which was very strange.
  15. Awesome guide. The most useful guide i've seen for pretty much anything. I mined gold to lvl my smithing but did this is f2p so no Gold Gauntlets. I turn my gold into rings(with gems which you get from mining anyway) which sell for a small but healthy amount. I also found mining gem rocks at Shilo village was good exp for mining and crafting (Cutting the gems) and it somehow feels different than mining iron/coal/mith etc.. thus breaking up the tedium a bit. Thanks for the guide very useful.
  16. I gambled 200 points and got 18 uncut saphires (soz no picture)
  17. Correctumundo. Jagex had guaged public opinion and seen that the masses want unique (or as unique as possible with 900,000 people playing {P2P}) items. We will definetely see more of this sort of thing. I'm ambivalent towards this as it will not effect me as i will not have this much money for a long time if ever. Eventually we may see an armour set that costs 1 billion at this point inflation will be imense and the game will die.
  18. One small point. Name ANY other game ever you have played as much as Runescape.I forcast that 90% of you wont be able to name a game you have played for even half the time you've played Runescape. I played Deus Ex through the first time in 20 something hours then completed it twice more(i reckon i played the game for 40 hours total). It was a brilliant game i loved it but after a while it was boring. I have played Runescape about 10 times longer and im not bored (frustrated, angry, happy, tense but not bored). Now i'd guess a lvl 126 combat with say 1600 total would have played a lot longer than me (77 combat, 1030ish total) say another 2 times longer. thats about 800 hours or 33 days. That is why you are unhappy about content not being aimed at you. You've played the game so much that no updates can overtake your boredom of the game. Find a new game, take a break do something else.
  19. Defender is easily the hardest role and requires the fastet updating. On the wave 10 (queen) the rest of my team had massacred everything but i was left with 3 runners stuck in a corner while the healers ran round like headless chickens healing everyone from the queens magic/missile attack thingys and not seeing my requests for information. It is true you can just drop any food and hope but you only have a 1/3 chance of being right. I have played as all but healer but i would say that the toughest job is defender, followed by healer, fighter, collector. Healers are key to the queen fight.
  20. ^^ No im not a pker. I have seen these 'arranged' fights and they make me laugh a lvl 104 vs a lvl 104 in lvl 3 wildy and after 20 minutes of prayer and food one runs..great. Also about the mage arena bank. i refer to my original post but multiply it by 10 times. The inbalance is much starker ancient mages 30 combat lvls higher can attack you (a mere lvl 80)legitimately the moment you step out the door. Fine thats the way the game was designed i dont complain so equally the thread starter has not right to complain about the unfairness of not getting more stuff. To use an animal metaphor its like a lioness complaining about a zebra running away too fast.
  21. A small point: (This is not an attack on player killers) {well not really} Player killers only attack those weaker than them. I HAVE NEVER BEEN ATTACKED BY ANYONE LESS THAN 10 LVL'S HIGHER THAN ME. Your point is that Jagex are ruining player killing by introducing items that are good for fighting but are non-tradeable . My counter-thrust to this is that since PKer's only ever attack weaker players this is in fact just redressing an unbalanced situation, i.e:your inherent advantage in combat/mage or range lvls in exchange for less loot. The moment players in the wilderness are limited to attacking players of their lvl or higher regardless of wilderness level then ill agree with your complaint (please note i do not want this to happen but it is the only situation you in which you will be right to complain). Basically to sum up: player killers are Wolves hunting for weak prey. This is the way Jagex designed the wilderness, as time has gone on Jagex has introduced more and more reasons for non- PKer's to go into the wildy, Abyss, Treasure Trails etc... and thusly overtime to balance this increased amount of prey for PKer's to feast on new equipment has been introduced which cannot be looted. THIS IS WHAT WE CALL BALANCE.
  22. Having been a member for just under 2 weeks i'd say that the best new things are the member only skills and castle wars. I personally strongly dislike most quests as they are mostly counter-intuitive (also you are almost never given enough information to complete the tasks assigned to you which is basically jagex's way of increasing 'difficulty'). This is not to say that all quests are poor some are fun and of course this is just MY opinion. Overall i strongly advise looking for a begginers members guide otherwise you might be a bit lost. There really is such a huge amount of new content for members that you should find that your money was well spent.
  23. Marriage kills your soul (not an opinion fact).
  24. I would like the word n00b to be starred but only because it would be interesting to see the scramble to replace it with a new word. If i had a vote that new word would be 'Mooblam'.
  25. You can teleport but only to certain predestined places. Think about it you have the power to subvert the laws of physics so entirely that you can transport your own matter and what you have on you instantaneously but you can only do so to say Varrock. Non-renewable resources are renewable... And there are several million other examples.
