You're immoral? I disagree with your view on luring. A new player, having played 10 days meets a 'friend' said friend talks with them for a bit and then suggests they go north to the wilderness to see some cool stuff or some such, then proceeds to kill the new player. How is that the new players fault? How do they deserve it? Ignorance does not equal stupidity. We were all ignorant of something at some point in our lives. Even if an experienced player gets lured we shouldn't pour scorn on them, in real life would you mock someone for being mugged in a dangerous area even if they knew it was dangerous?
-
I don't understand what you mean. Do you mean before the updates people looked for the easiest way of getting stuff(i.e:not resource gathering)?
-
Semantics are bad. They spend money on Runescape, with Runescape being the game in question. Sheesh... Anyway, regardless of what Jagex might want you to believe, RWT don't negatively impact the game. Yes, that would be quite a leap in logic. Not caring about people who decide to buy Runescape items doesn't mean one does it him/herself. It's the same as saying that anyone who doesn't like the newest update is a sammer. It's a fallacy to believe as much. Yes, yes. I know what you meant by 'you'. If you don't see ANY negative aspect of cheating why don't you cheat? this time the you means you. edit:As for the 'you' bit it would have been clearer if I said 'people' instead of 'you' but I meant it in a philosophizing sense as in 'if you are are but an insignificant speck in the universe does anything you do matter?' (regarding my previous posts use of the word you)

Erm... Apparently you're still not understanding what I typed out. That's what I said he said and I then asked where were the other riots when changes were made to the wilderness that affected PK'ers since, according to Qeltar, we "always" riot. And, beyond that, how do 'riots' by the non-PK'ing groups play into his claim. I'm still waiting for an answer  Then you should get out more. If you would have spent more time on the RSOF, you would have seen his admissions as to how much he detests pures and PK'ers as a whole. It's not a big secret. You are what you are. If you're going to revel in another group's misery, speak out of your [wagon] when you don't PK and avoid the wilderness like the Ebola virus and then try to lump everyone into a group to fit your narrowmindedness, then I've NO problem in calling you an ignorant idiot. Not terribly. I, along with quite a few people, cares not a lick about RWT. If they want to spend their money on a game, more power to them. It didn't negatively affect me, so I could care less. *See a few responses ago* K this is whats happening: You: hey 'bunch of stuff' Me: responds to 'bunch of stuff' You: No you don't get IT!!! Me: No I do, I'm just asking you to be reasonable, your free to express your opinions. You:Qeltars an idiot. RWT'ers actually don't spend money on the game, they spend other peoples money they 'earned' by breaking the rules, if you really can't see that RWT'ing is one of the worst things in the game I'm surprised. If you're going to say 'meh I don't care about cheating' its really not that much of a leap in logic to suggest you buy items/gold. I mean if you don't care at all, don't see any negative aspect to it, whats stopping you from just buying gold? (edit: That 'you' is not explicitly referring to you Sly_wizard but is just general, if people don't see any negatives to cheating what stops them cheating? would have been a better phrasing).

I dunno' why I'm going to do this. Anyway, pay close attention to this quote, especially the bolded word:
-
That's what trolls do. :wall: Again, appreciate the help, berbatovsky, but I've been through it with this guy many times before. He thrives on the attention and won't stop unless he's ignored, at which point he'll slither back under his rock where he belongs. Remember, you are dealing with a person who thinks there's "nothing wrong about luring" (direct quote). I've said all I can say that is reasonable, if 1) he can't see its reasonable 2) doesn't want to see it as reasonable I wont respond again. Although I have to say regardless of your history with this person it would be advisable to stop saying negative things about him, I know hes doing it to you but my hope (as with all arguments) is that any insults can be got over quickly and then people can discuss/argue the actual issue at hand.
-
Trying to label me as a troll now, are you? How original. We both know the reason you won't respond is because you have no response which doesn't expose you are the biased, opinionated and ignorant person that you are. For someone who advocates the 'truth', you sure hate objectivism. Subjectivity ftw! I'm not sure you know, but lemme' give you a little history lesson regarding Qeltar. A long time ago he decided to venture into the wilderness to slay green dragons, where he was unmercilessly killed by a pure. Since that time he's held an irrational dislike of pures and PK'ing, advocating numerous changes which would all but destroy both groups(He's even admitted as such). As far as he's concerned, PK'ing and pures = Evil and all of Runescape problems stem from them. Never mind the fact that the 'facts' which he so desperately aims to convey but frequently ignores show differently. Oh well... I guess I'll just call him the FOX news of Runescape  Oh, and for the record, he's an example of him blaming everything on one group of people:

OH MY GOD, these people actually glory not in making money but in bringing MMORPGS down, jesus they really are just a bunch of 13 year olds.........this is why kids and technology don't mix. [Loads of bad language removed ~Kill Life] Edit:Seriously? I've seen MUCH worse than what I said in the last couple of days, and given it was censored and thats what everyones reaction would be to being robbed then scalded for fighting back I didn't think it would be a problem. Also I don't understand 'loads of bad language' I used TWO swear words(which were censored), I'd of understood if you said 'far too violent imagery'. Fine: Basically one of these guys(on the cheat site/forum) said Jagex had stooped low by changing direct trading, this is like a boxer being hit over the head with a piece of lead by his opponent in the ring and then being disqualified for complaining about it.

I'm still waiting for an answer : I'll answer as best I or anyone can, with supposition: I saw pure accounts as a microcosm of all accounts, with some nice pures who were helpful and kind but most were from the 'get rich or die trying' (damn you gangsta rap)school of thought. The fact is anyone whos been near pures in the wildy/duel arena/PC KNOWS that they rabble on like 10 year olds ('hey noob figt me my pure range will pwn u'). For the most part pures represented the worst of Runescape players. I'd say pures who weren't bragging/racist/ignorant/loud/rude were in the MINORITY. Of course it impossible to say 'ALL pures were horrible' and I can't even say for SURE that the majority were because I'm sure I didn't come into contact with even 5% of all pures, but out of the pures I've 'met' 90% were absolute losers bragging and being rude, I can only go on what I see. Qeltar never said that pures were the only players who did all that bad stuff he just said that they as a group were more prone to doing all that bad stuff. Edit: If you really wanted an answer then there you have it, if you want a fight I'm afraid I'm not willing to oblige.

Dont worry, OP feels same way about merchants, stakers, and anyone who dindt get where they are by spending countless hours clicking like he did. A good way fo describing the OP would be a self pompous, self righteous clown, but then again most people already call him that to his face or behind his back so its nothing new. I actualy tried to be the better man, despite our differences I sent him a PM saying best of luck, you win, runescape will be like you want im quitting, to which he proceeded to respond with further insults and expressiong joy over me quitting. For someone who is past his 50's I have to say the OP isnt very intelligent and certainly not the white caring high moral figure he proclaims himself to be. All it takes is to read one of his posts where he condemns everyone and everything he does not see worthy in his eyes. Somebody who is truely pure and good would never do that. Everyone else who claim to enjoy his reads, look into meilis post and find it in yourself to laugh at yourself :) I don't like your attitude EGO, I could care less if you staked/merched or whatever else, but when you come on these forums spouting this rudeness is pisses me off. Sure everyone posts some things that are rude and most probably regret it later (I certainly have in the recent past) BUT your attitude is appalling, anyone who disagrees with you gets flamed and you 'exaggerate' just a tad to make your point, your an extremist at heart and extremists get a big :shame: from me. Either you aren't a native English speaker OR the part I've italicized of your quote is a nice insight into your mind.

Hypocrites: The Players or the Staff?
berbatovsky replied to muggiwhplar's topic in General Discussion
Yesterday someone posted saying the guy was a huge cheat (ya totally wouldn't surprise me) and now its gone............its a mystery :?: TBH this feels more like Jagex know the guys a cheat (nothing to do with the name) and just needed an excuse for action. Probably the proof is circumstantial (in terms of online stuff, i.e:other cheats telling on him). It fits in with the 'war on RWT' theme quite well. -
Just goes to show how woefully ignorant some people can truly be! 2)I abyss crafted a bit (few hundred trips) and never came close to dying to the pkers there(aside from lag and I still didn't take more than 30 damage total), nor did I see anyone die. 3)I saw a spectral Dark beast just outside the abyss today, it wasnt close enough to attack but it looked fearsome and also probably holds more threat than abyss pkers. No, it really doesn't hold any more threat than your average RC PK'er. Just look at the sheer number of people now runecrafting via the abyss versus those runecrafting via the abyss prior to the update. The proof is, as they say, in the pudding. And, before you say it, easier =/= better. Dude I rced for 2 hours today, 4/5 people there the whole time (doing runs that is), server was 1800+, exactly the same as a month ago when I last rced. As I said in HUNDREDS of trips I wasn't killed nor nearly killed and never saw anyone die, so plaintively rc pkers weren't in any way dangerous (they were a distraction at most). Incidentally I have died about 10 times in the last 4 months to monsters (God wars was FUN when you didn't know wth was going on)and also I've died pking at a couple of places (all north of level 20 wildy). Really abyss pkers ranked reeeeeeeeeeal low on the threat scale(lower than an abherrant specter). This is not Qeltars FACT SHEET OF FACTS, this is an article he wrote detailing his thoughts on a subject, since when has any post on a forum (other than news posts) been anything else? Just because someone doesn't explicitly state a post/article is just their opinion doesn't mean it is being presented as anything else.
-
A few points: 1)This is his opinion (stated as such) so obviously its filled with his 'bias'. On the other hand its slightly unfair to pkers, as has been mentioned pjing is promoted in the new 'mini game'. I also feel the difference in price should be extended to 10% (min and max) of the median price (in trades and in the GE), also maybe allow ONE gifted item of value below 2 mil every month or something.

Hypocrites: The Players or the Staff?
berbatovsky replied to muggiwhplar's topic in General Discussion
No, he can still sue. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contra_proferentem Also Some courts when seeking a particular result will use contra proferentem to take a strict approach against insurers and other powerful contracting parties and go so far as to interpret terms of the contract in favor of the other party, even where the meaning of a term would appear clear and unambiguous on its face, although this application is disfavored. From the wikipedia article, note the bold part. So its possible to sue. Very harsh. yes facken can be taken to mean 'the f word' but its like punishing a kid in school for saying 'shoot'. -
Jagex's Extreme Measures: "Freedom is not Free"
berbatovsky replied to Barihawk's topic in General Discussion
Lol, you don't even know what you're talking about. We were debating what was the prime motivation of Jagex when they made these updates: to save their butt, or to save their players. Your post is full of hatred, personal attacks, stupidity, and general off-topicness. Do us all a favor, and stop delaying your ban on tip.it. Take off the cap of your bottle of trolliness, go berserk, get banned, and find another forum to annoy. I apologize for being rude to you. I was just trying to say that saying 'Jagex only changed things to save themselves money' is 1)redundant (every company on earth looks to cut costs) 2) a simplification of a complex issue. A key concern to Jagex will be how their company is viewed, they don't want to be seen as out of touch or heavy handed but they also don't want to be seen as impotent in the face of problems. The changes they made were drastic and unpopular and they expected that. They could of adopted many different attitudes and the primary motivating factor behind any of these strategies would be fiscal in nature. They could of 1) Refused credit cards from certain countries/areas 2)acted as a market place for the sale of gold and items 3)just straight sold gold and items 4) Increase the amount of bannings by increasing their staff and increasing the cost of membership etc... they chose the more direct 'WAR ON RWT' stance which they knew would be unpopular and thus deserve credit. Its not as easy as 'they are selfish'. -
So how DO you make a large amount of money now?
berbatovsky replied to ugafan_2009's topic in General Discussion
Pking isn't dead its just a team thing now.......how many people solo'd in the wildy? 10% of all pkers maybe(I mean as in a % of people pking at any given time not that only 10% ever soloed). Merchanting isn't dead but prolly will be if the trade change goes through. Duel tourneys are more fun and less abusable than the old system. BOSS hunting needs a revamped lootshare to work properly, although if you go boss killing consistently in a team it should work O.K(lootshare makes it more likely that someone will get a drop if they haven't had one I believe). Runecrafting Nature Runes is still excellent money, Certain slayer monsters are a good sources of money (Spiritual Mages, Abherrant Specters etc..). I guess it depends on your idea of huge, I've never had lots of money so to me 200k an hour is huge and achievable in a few ways (I've only ever dueled for fun, I PK for fun and am useless at it and I don't really merchant so I've never been able to get say 1mil gp in ten minutes). -
All I really have to say to this is that just because you interpret what he said as an order does not mean he meant it that way. This is one thing about internet communication that is flawed. You don't get things like tone of voice or facial expressions, and meanings can be changed so easily without them. And also, I'd leave Jesus out of this, as many people think he is very important to the grand scheme of things(including me) and I really don't want this to turn into a debate of faith. OHO touched a nerve did I? I may be 12 hours late but I'm riding this one. So to YOU Jesus is important and you are offended that I MAY be belittling him? Well whoopdedoo, but given you defended this guy TELLING us what to do, saying basically we should listen to others advice, I have this to say: HESZUUS your Lord and Saviour is not my lord nor saviour and I ADVICE you to stop worshiping him. if you aren't a hypocrite you will defend my right to say this, if you are you'll be angry and tell me to [bleep] off. BTW even though you can't see me you most definitely can interpret my TONE can't you?

Jagex's Extreme Measures: "Freedom is not Free"
berbatovsky replied to Barihawk's topic in General Discussion
obviously you didnt READ the article. jagex didn't sttop RWT because they were losing money, they stopped them because they were going to lose the whole GAME. as in, the game you and so many other people take for granted, just because you pay your measly 5 bucks a month. who's being selfish now? Andrew: I'm saving my company! Don't be silly - I didn't save it because I have countless hours and millions of dollars put in it. Nope! I'm saving it because I don't want my little customers to cry if I'm gone. Go away, make an MMORPG that is incredibly popular and then do everything you can (regardless of money made, in fact it would be better if you lost money) to make everyone happy then come back and mock this man, until then you are a cretin. Edit: nowhere in that article does it say Runescape would of been forced to be shut down because of credit refunds, it just says it costs them money and in the long term would mean they couldn't accept credit cards(unlikely cause if this is the case then why are NO other MMORPGs faced with this problem?). I'd imagine the people whos credit card details were 'stolen' were on fake RS gold sites trying to buy gold anyway. -
Suicide over recent update? (And other RL events)
berbatovsky replied to ixfd64's topic in Off-Topic
Quoted for the truth (I.E: I agree). -
The thing is thats fine and everything but he wasn't stating his 'opinion' he was flat out telling people what to do with their lives. As i said what does Football/your girlfriend/a pony/ jupiter/ the American president/ Jesus/ Hitler's mustache mean in the grand scheme of things? Let people do what they want and don't arbitrarily tell them how to live their lives while having no knowledge of said lives. THAT IS GOOD ADVICE.
-
Nice long analysis but really this thread is telling people to quit because the game makes your quality of life worse and not telling people to quit because of the updates, you might want to Ctrl C, Ctrl V this in one of the other topics that are dealing with the updates more directly.
-
Heres an alternative solution: since the game now has an official 'price range' for each item, drops can be substituted for coins (if desired). basically, if theres 3 of you KQ'ing you get an option on 'big' drops (items valued over 100k) whether you want the item OR coins, if you choose coins the value is distributed between all people who did damage over 10 percent of the total hitpoints. I'm fairly sure this is possible using the current engine.
-
I'm not going to quit in the foreseeable future, its an odd one for me (not the updates the game itself) because I don't really play often(probably 6-10 hours a week, I know thats not infrequent but by RS standards I'd say that qualifies as not often) but am on these boards a lot and am enthralled by the game and any changes that are made. I can't really think of a gameplay change that would make me want to quit, I assume one day I'll just stop playing.
-
This is an issue, people playing games but not taking care of their health, but if you can't motivate yourself to exercise quitting a game wont make any difference (unless of course you were playing Runescape with ALL your spare time, in which case it would be advisable to stop playing or at least cut way down).

Suicide over recent update? (And other RL events)
berbatovsky replied to ixfd64's topic in Off-Topic
Because someone kills themself over a game means they shouldnt be alive thats is by far one of the worst things i have heard on these forums in a long long time. He's right, if your mind is in such a fragile state and no one cares enough to notice and try to help, you are better off dead. I don't think he meant 'I'm glad he's dead' more 'he'd of died anyway' Edit: Of course this is tragic, but lets get real MILLIONS of people kill themselves every year, for one the human brain is incredibly complex and some people just can't handle 'life', for two many people are treated AWFULLY and really death is a release. This world is a dichotomy of the sublime and the tragic, and unfortunately this stuff happens, some people are better off dead. :( :( :( :(
