  1. You confuse me, obviously you aren't a moron, so why do you post this rubbish? You must of realized that there is no one size fits all 'solution' to life. I wouldn't have responded to your post if you hadn't said (slight paraphrasing) " hey morons!!! Yeh you! this game sucks, go do something else your life will get 'better' " Also you are telling people what to do, this isn't a theory, its an order (look at the words you used).
  2. Theres a rule/guideline with bumping threads that have 'died', it is that you should add something interesting/relevant to the discussion. Forgive me for back seat modding but posting 'bump' (regardless of whether this post is relevant to changes that have happened) is just spam. There are what 50+ topics pertaining to those changes, how about talking about them there? Also [bleep] R2 Pleasant.
  3. Also  :Zezima plays FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAr more than 6 hours a day I assure you, and your average human sleeps for what 50 days a year? If we're looking to maximize our....... well I don't really know what your point is so I can't even finish that :wall: If i played football for 6 hours a day would I have no life? If i was playing Halo 3 would I have a life? If I was hanging out with my friends on a street corner making fart jokes would I have a life? If i was a cool kid who was popular with everyone but had deep seeded psychological problems that eventually manifest in me murdering small children when I'm 25 do I have a life? Don't try and simplify things and generalize like you have it doesn't work so well. Edit: that didn't turn out so well sorry, but I think you can understand what I'm getting at.
  4. Learn to spell the word mirror before dispensing your wisdom (additionally it's spelled believe and quitted isn't a word). Also Telling people jealousy is borne from playing games is ridiculous. Also telling people what to do (because you are of course the person best placed to tell others what to do) could be construed as rude. Also boo. Also.
  5. Upon reflection (and not the yammering of fools persuading me, so stop yammering all those who are) I have decided the changes to trade are far too severe. I just plain don't like the idea of not being ABLE to give someone something and also due to the problem of price ranges being inaccurate (not really Jagex's fault per se because tracking THOUSANDS of prices per day must be incredibly difficult as must agreeing what a price range is in the first place) I think trading has been hamstrung, I certainly don't want to be forced to sell (as an example) Saradomin Brews for 1.5k or less because in my opinion they are worth more than that(being a high end herblore potion). While these ranges were in a way O.K in the GE because you had the option of not using them, with the new changes you don't have a choice and that I think is a bad move. I'm not going to quit or 'protest' because really who does that!? I'm not even angry in any way, I just think its a bad move. Some flexibility would be nice on Jagex's part, say increasing the proposed limit in difference in price as Qeltar suggested-in fact all of Qeltar's suggestions are good if they can indeed be implemented easily and don't create new problems.
  6. 1) it will/would take time to filter through to news agencies 2) if its a fake story to force Jagex to change things it tells us what sort of PEOPLE play the game.
  7. Look if someone kills themselves over an UPDATE to a GAME then they weren't going to last long anyway. I would not be (that)surprised if this was a CATALYST for someone killing themselves, but there would have to be existing problems (I.e:no ones goes from happy{or even miserably depressed} to suicidal over a game).
  8. Last thing I'll say on this topic: I think few of you appreciate how many people cheat on this game, even those of you here who do cheat probably think its fairly isolated, my feeling is that roughly 30% of people(members) cheat in this game and I'm talking about buying items for real money and macroing. The fact is I (often) overhear people talking about buying Geepee and the attitude of many players is 'you're lame if you DON'T cheat'. Also give it a while and actually TRY the new features before declaring the sky is falling.
  9. How have they ruined 'MONSTER HUNTING'? Oh o.k they havent they've 'ruined' BOSS HUNTING...oh but wait theres lootshare now so all they've ruined is: You going KQ killing with your 10 levels lower 'friend' who you assure 'na no drop this time sorry' cause you always do the most damage. Shut the [bleep] up.
  10. I can feel the rage through the lag you are all causing by posting at once. Chill out its a game, Jagex isn't personally offending you they're changing their game to remove cheating. If you don't like it ( I can only understand being peeved at the trade thing) thats your prerogative, but claiming Jagex has slighted you or whatever is ridiculous.
  11. There will never be undetectable bots in Runescape, there may be a time when there is true A.I but it certainly wont be soon and even more certainly wont be applied to cheating in Runescape. Maybe Jagex wont/can't detect a bot through mechanical processes but any human can tell a bot from a human unless someone takes the time to write a script responding to ever single possible comment a person could make (this would take one person longer than is imaginable and even a concerted effort of thousands would only achieve this in a decade or so). Why do people spend what must be years making these (the complex ones) programs? Is it for money?
  12. The easiest but incredibly annoying solution would be every time you do anything (pick flax, cut trees, mine rocks, craft runes etc..etc...)you would be presented with something similar to what some of the random events do (i.e: the niles/giles random). Then after completing it correctly you'd be able to mine/cut/pick etc.. for 15 minutes and thenceforth be prompted again. Thats a stupid idea but it would work and its also less drastic than the OP's.
  13. My experience: Try to log in for 30mins, finally got in. had the wrong cape (member wildy cape) followed some guys there. Everyone there was tipit. I attacked the very few people that weren't tip for 10mins then got lagged. Log back in lag out again. 20 Mins later come log back in, attack a guy in a black cape who was maging, he runs away and then I'm dead and someone in a green capes saying GF. TBH I was more than a little disappointed the whole thing was disjointed and confusing and lots of people were not following rules AND there were too many tipiters compared to others.
  14. First, if nats weren't worth 300 based on demand, nobody would have bought them for 300. Simple as that. Second, nats are *not* common slayer drops -- they are far less common as drops than deaths and bloods, for example. Third, laws were usually over 300. The efficiency issue is valid, but has nothing to do with price manipulation. Merchants charged more because it took time for them to accumulate smaller quantities of items, and people were willing to pay more to buy 10k or 20k of nats at once rather than buying them 50 or 100 at a time. If you can't remember the old prices then how can you say there hasn't been a crash? That doesn't make any sense at all. I do remember the old prices and so do most others, and the crash in prices is very real. Just a few examples: Super energy pots: used to be 1.5k to 2k each; I have bought them as cheap as 500. Snapdragon seeds: before, up to 40k each, now 25k or so. Sara brews: I've bought them as low as 1.1k each; no joke. Ranarrs and prayer pots: Down at least 30% if not more. Coal: used to be 190-200, dipped down into the 150s before recovering. Iron ore: down from 100-110 to 70 or so. Maple logs: down from 60-70 to 40. Sharks: down from 900 or so to 650 or thereabouts. There are HUNDREDS of other examples. That's not price manipulation, it's arbitrage. Only one contention: I slay quite regularly and I can say I've definitely gotten natures as drops more often than deaths or bloods, far more often in fact. Also I haven't seen those prices but yes that in fact is a crash of rather large proportions (some of the reductions are incredible). To be fair I rarely buy any of those things and have only been selling strength pots and super energies (which where at 1300 last i checked-5 days ago I think). I bought 1000 coal for 180 each a couple days ago. The fact that some prices are 'recovering' would suggest a balance between demand and supply has been met and the price we see now is 'correct', if this is the case and the new 'balanced' price is stable BUT differs from the previously accepted price ranges then what are the reasons for this discrepancy?
  15. I highly doubt that there used to be this stratified merchanting class that owned the materials markets. Materials were simply too inflexible in price and too plentiful to be manipulated on a big scale by a few people, if even a few hundred people. The market was fundamentally flawed, which caused price inflation. Qeltar's article agrees with this idea. Look at the forums for a couple of days, the same names pop up over and over. When you have say 500k of an item a day being sold and 200k comes from one person you can safely say that manipulation is not only possible but probable. And it is just plain fact that merchants bought low(from banks) and sold high (on forums) it doesn't even matter if they were organised or not (my feeling is they were) the same principal applies.
  16. Sorry for the de-rail of your last thread Qeltar is was not my intention. I still think merchant cabals lead to the inflated price we saw before the GE, you underestimate what these guys were doing and how many of them there were, on the forums its the same 100 or so people selling stuff ( like 100 people selling herbs, 100 different people selling pots and so on) they circulate offers for hundreds of thousands of goods and slowly resell at a profit, no way were nats worth 300 based on demand, they are one of the most common slayer drops, quick to make and quick to buy, so why were they 300each when law runes were the same but considerably rarer? Because merchants were constantly circulating bids, mostly between each other, creating a false view of what was going on. If you wanted to buy nats for 280/290 each you COULDN'T on the forums because that was merchant land, but on world 1/2 the banks around all the servers you could. The GE removed this inefficiency and people can now buy for the TRUE value for a VERY common item. I still don't think heres been a crash even of prices because I have only seen a few things that have dropped 10% or more in a couple of days(has anyone got information pertaining to this or a link to any? Because I can't even remember the old price ranges for things like super energy pots).
  17. Crying about your life doesn't make you forget about it, it's still there. Doing things that take your mind off your troubles are essentially magical, as they have the ability to temporarily erase and numb the nuisances of reality. Crying releases endorphins which then make you feel better. And when your mind is at its normal state again due to the endorphins, then it is the good time to analyse and figure out something to FIX the problem. You can't escape it forever. I have already broken down because of my situation, I'd prefer not to think about it. No matter how much you cry about it, it's still going to be there. Like a permanent scar you can never remove, engraved on the back of your head. Escaping from reality is one of the best things to do when you're troubled, it allows yourself time to bide to yourself and think. Pain, emotional or otherwise it temporary, in the future you may remember the pain but its just a memory, once you stop feeling it its gone. Also its a woman isn't it. Men are not subtle.
  18. This topic has discussion value, other people are already talking about mistakes they've made, even if only one person has one constructive/interesting response this thread has value, posts saying 'lols lock' do not.
  19. I still think there should of been a weapon skill ...skill, which dictated how fast you swung the weapon you were using. Bit late for that now I suppose.
  20. K, Solution plox? Is there a work around? Take away reporting/limit it? You can't just say yah that sucks. Also the amount of times high levels ( all of you) will be reported is very low, is it soooooooooo annoying or is it slightly annoying? Perspective much? A guy said it before, this boils down to you being pissed off that stupid people are allowed to play, thats a valid concern but not Jagexs fault. Jagex does not: make people stupid, ask 6 year olds to play their game, tell people to use macros to autoplay, tell people to real world trade, tell people to be rude, tell people to spam and so on, at the end of the day if you want these problems stopped you need a cultural change in the community, you need people to be embarrassed to cheat and be abusive cause right now they are PROUD of cheating and acting like a pack of [developmentally delayed]s because thats just the way the game went, (given the nature of pvp in the game theres more nastiness than other Multiplayer games- I think a piece on PvP being fundamental to the problems of the game would make a good article Qeltar) , I'm sure Jagex is all ears if you have any good suggestions.
  21. Its not entirely Jagex's fault, with so many players a report abuse function is a necessity. When you see 20 lvl 3 characters stood by a tree hacking away all in the same clothes with names like 'xx3483 3 2 1 ' , then most probably they are bots and you have every reason to report them and are providing a useful service. However the fact that a report function exists means it will be abused, people will report anything and sometimes misjudge a situation, other times people wont even understand what an abuse is and yet other times people will spam reports for whatever reason. Summation:reporting bots = good, reporting everyone who is rude/doesnt sell you stuff/doesnt answer your inane comments/ reporting without having a context for whats going on = bad. Edit:before the shop update I started a second character for some reason and was trying to buy arrows from the arrow shop in Varrock, I tried 20 servers and on every one was a bot buying all the arrows, they all had the same gibberish name with different numbers, they were definitely bots and they were all reported, thats what the report functions for.
  22. So far there are only a few things I haven't managed to sell 1) gold bars, couldn't sell them without the GE either 2) Splitback set(only up for an hour) 3) Agility potions(3)(been up for a day). I have sold: -Mystic set (30mins) -25k and 25k Fire Runes (2 hours and 2 DAYS) -700 Blood Runes (1 DAY) -Various treasure trails stuff, such as Adamant Kiteshield H3 (varied but always less than an hour) -100 Super energy potions (1 DAY) -30ish Harrlander seeds (couple of hours) -50ish Toadflax seeds (1 DAY) -Dragon battleaxe (5 minutes or so) -Saradomin Platebody (straight away) -300 and 450 Adamant bars (straight away and an hour) -2 Black Masks (straight away both times) Thats all i remember but theres a couple more, mostly I sold just under the medium price of the price range(although I did sell the blood runes at 451 each which i consider low and was the lowest price available). So in my experience its not hard to sell, but you do have a big wait on your hands for some items - but if your that bothered then go to the forums or world 1/2 or any bank and sell there. The GE is a WAY of selling, so if you have trouble selling that item you can always sell it elsewhere. Also because the GE (I think- someone correct me if I'm wrong)uses a first come first served basis (if theres no blood runes on the market and you put up 10 million [blood runes] and then someone one minute later puts up 15 those 15 will only sell after the first 10 million have sold)it can appear that their are no buyers because your item/s hasn't sold for hours, but in reality there are buyers they just are buying from someone else's stock.
  23. Only economists think learning about the economy is worthwhile everyone else could care less. A (small) test was done on a stock market(FTSE 500), 10 children were given little pieces of paper to choose from, on the paper were different stocks, the kids picked them at random. 10 of the most powerful investment brokerage companies in the country (UK) were asked to pick some picks for trading that day using their nous. The kids picks on average went up, the companies picks on average went down(what economic fundamentals did the kids know that the companies didn't?). We had masters of economics in a position to effect changes during every stock market crash, why didn't they avert them? because its not something that can be mastered, its like the tide. Also given than 99% of people will not be involved in economics in anyway it seems futile to teach them something they wont need as a skill. I'd prefer my mechanics to know about automobiles thanks. Its a game, people don't play a game so they can use their brain to make the economy 'better' (well they do-they're called merchants, but they are 'playing' at being stock brokers, Runescape itself is just used as a market).
  24. Pros: .Much easier to sell slightly rarer items .You can sell almost anything .The price ranges are for the most part what they were on price guides Cons: .Some more common items are hard to sell (runes/ores/potions) .Some of the price ranges were and still are completely off I still think it was an excellent update and I wager that most people have been spending a lot of their time buying and selling at the GE over the last couple of days.
