  1. I can say in complete honesty with confidence I would prefer RS with people manipulating prices as opposed to an RS with no trading, PK'Ing, or Staking. You would prefer a game with people manipulating the game so that they can sell the geepee for real life money being unpunished and hailed as brave for admitting it (there was no remorse in the post shown) to a game without staking/Pk'ing/or trade. Fair enough, but what if you took the negatives away? There still is staking there still is trade and there still is pking. Just because Jagex nurfed staking doesn't mean they'll remove pking/trading you are all making huge leaps in logic here. Also [bleep] R2 Pleasant.
  2. Selective hating is awesome! Hate 1 gold seller but not the other, I LoLed I dislike ALL gold sellers, I think you're referring to a topic made about 9 months ago(that was bumped recently) where I said I wouldn't sit in judgment of a guy for some offense(I don't have a clue what the offense was now). Cheats in this game effect everyone, maybe that was something I hadn't quite processed 9 months ago. If you're not talking about that then I'm afraid you've lost me. Edit: I've just remembered the guy was a price manipulator not a gold seller so yeh I have no idea what you're talking about champ. Edit2: you misrepresented what I said anyway despite directly quoting me, I don't hate R2 Pleasant I just think hes/shes a [bleep]. You're starting to grind my gears EGO. Edit3:You're the first person to ever troll me on these forums, THANKS.
  3. I am at once posting to get in on this hot spam action and at the same time to pledge my allegiance to the cause of MAN LOVE Fight on brothers, fight on. Also thanksgiving should be celebrated only in England when we knew for sure the ultra right wing psychopaths weren't coming back. It seems odd for Americans to celebrate the time they met a race they drove to the edge of extinction a couple of decades later. HAVE FUN WITH THAT CONTROVERSY INSPIRING AWESOMENESS.
  4. Who wants to go to world 2 or stand in seers bank for 30 minutes trying to sell a lava battlestaff? Direct trade CAN be replaced by the grand exchange although I don't think Jagex will get rid of the function and certainly not any time soon.
  5. The thing is, if the grand exchange works flawlessly(assuming you can sell any item and any amount of item) you don't NEED the direct trade option, I still doubt they would do this at least any time soon. I also think this would be one step too far in the fight against cheats. Also [bleep] you R2 Pleasant, you are a tool.
  6. It seems very Runescape to me, you know what with magic being able to do pretty much everything else (turn bones into peaches, summon a fire bolt etc..) I hope they have both combat summons (to fight with/for you) and helper summons (i especially like the ideas(snake6man's) of a dog burying your bones and a monkey storing items on its 'person' for you).
  7. Don't bash the guy for expressing his opinions, in his opinion he didn't like some of the updates, if you disagree say something along the lines of 'I thought so and so update was good actually, heres why...' Theres no call to tell him to go play another game or call him a moaner.
  8. The good:Well Godwars was great for about a week and the first day was mental(in a good way), but I suppose if you wait until you know all the techniques(removing all risk) some of the charm is lost. I liked Barbarian Assault quite a lot actually and only stopped playing because there were too many people sabotaging/not trying to learn the rules. I liked the PC update in a way(I'd actually only been to PC once before the update so it wasn't really a change to me). With the new format you could have some pretty epic battles, sure you didn't make your xp per hour goal (LOL) if in a long battle but some people like a challenge over easy and flowing xp (I know this will confuse and befuddle many of you, don't worry this sentence cannot harm you, just move on). The bad:I don't like quests so pretty much every quest released pisses me off because its something I have to do to access new content. UMMMM thats it for me i guess, although I'm sure I'm missing somethings.
  9. Off topic, but your mini text requires a short answer: because it in noway would of stopped real world trading.
  10. Read it again, they mentioned life runes. That still doesn't say for certain, though. And if you really read they decided to scrap the life rune and not include summoning to magic, it's a whole new skill It will be for hunter what smithing is to mining yesish, they say they were originally going to incorporate it into the magic skill as a new magic book but because of desert treasure(ancient magicks) they decided to make it a standalone skill. They did not say they've scrapped the life rune however just that they didn't release it because they didn't release summoning as an extension to the magic skill. I bet my brain that life runes are used in summoning (maybe with the bones of the animals or something also needed).
  11. Couple of things: Jagex said basically it would lag the hell out of the servers if everyone had a summoned monster following them at the same time, so I'm guessing theres a time limit for summons. Also Jagex said they were creating a 'life' rune for RSC but never released it, I think its safe to say this rune will be used in conjunction with existing runes for summoning, i.e: summon rabbit - 2 life runes 10 air runes, duration 30 seconds. Lastly THANKS JAGEX some of us like, you know, suspense. STOP TELLING US EVERYTHING 2 MONTHS BEFORE WE'RE GOING TO SEE IT DAMN IT. Edit: This is going to be a P2P update only I think(it would be a massive surprise if it wasn't).
  12. It would seem that you are in the minority, a lot of people on this thread are using the same rhetoric used by people berating politicians: 'they deceived us', 'they screwed everything up', 'they stole my cattle and gave my job to an immigrant'. People seem to think Jagex owes them something, rather than looking at the situation rationally, i.e: Jagex provides us a service in exchange for money. Sure you can walk away with your money but you don't really come across as sane if you're yelling abuse at the company as you walk away. Edit:Oooh Oooh I meant to say: Qeltars topic is in part about Jagex's overreaction to a problem, I find it ironic that so many people are overreacting to that overreaction. Edit2:Is it really a rationale course of action to abandon your account (because of a change that doesn't effect you) on principle ? What else has Jagex done recently that you feel was in the same vein as this update? If nothing you shouldn't really be considering quitting(over this). By that i mean do you think Jagex has actually lost the plot and if so is it purely because of this update? (this edit is not aimed at adam007 or huta but at the thread in general).
  13. We are all treating Jagex like some government organization that is answerable to us, they aren't, they haven't misled or broken our trust, all they've done is change a part of the game. They owe us nothing, sure you can quit and they lose money and if all of us quit they no longer have any way of making money but that doesn't mean we own them, much the opposite in fact they own us. They could close the game tomorrow without giving notice, sell/stop renting the servers and take down the website and we could......do absolutely nothing. There may be the issue of compensation due to membership credit being paid on a monthly basis but aside from that we couldn't make any demands of them. Summation:They make a game, we play the game, they changed something in the game some(maybe a lot) of people don't like. Edit: oh Qeltar i think at least 100 of my posts come from replying/arguing with you or posting on your topics, you sir are good at creating interesting discussions.
  14. To make a slightly off topic point: Jagex changing the duel arena is NOT getting real world trading at the 'root'. Getting it at the root would be going after the companies that are used as marketplaces {EBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY} and the companies that sell and buy Runescape gold...ANNNNND the players 'collecting'(usually by cheating in another way) the gold in-game to sell (they would prosecute them all). To do so effectively they would need a rather large department (I'm gonna guestimate 300 people) searching ebay and other such sites ALL DAY EVERY DAY(searching for sales of Runescape gold-harder than you'd think because people sell 'poems' or other such crap with a 'free' Runescape account to get round Ebays rules on these things) and the web in general looking for runescape gold selling sites(the ones that are high on google searches are easy, EASY to find but the others are much, much harder to find requiring people instead of computer programs). Also they would require an in-house law firm(included in the guestimation)for all the horrible, horrible legal processes required to achieve a prosecution against these people. Thats mighty expensive and complicated sounding isn't it? Ever wondered why ALL MMORPGS that are popular are overrun by bots, real world traders and farmers? Its because its nearly impossible to stop them, they are basically and to use a nice analogy cockroaches(cockroaches are notoriously difficult to kill/get rid of and you most definitely don't want an infestation in your house). Weeeeeell sorry about that its not even relevant but now I've typed it I might as well post it. Edit:for some reason I was spelling sites (as in internet sites) as sights, this has been fixed.
  15. Well at the end of the day regardless of whether I agree with (all of) Qeltar's analysis [hide](America doesn't live in a bubble, we can point to 4 other MASSIVE terrorist attacks around the world since September the 11th that have been responsible for the continuing paranoia and subsequent changes in policy across the WORLD and we CANNOT say that these policies are degrading our economies or societies OR that they are a disproportionate response){I don't disagree with it being used as an analogy I just plain disagree with the sentiment}[/hide]or not Jagex has dropped the ball on this one, they have created a whole lot of dissatisfaction in the user base and the fact they aren't being particularly transparent about whats going on isn't helping. Jagex must make a decision if a large percentage (of users) are angry at this (I think we can safely say they are). Do they stick to their intentions and leave things they way they are despite massive unrest or do they change the maximum stake for individual duels to appease people? Tough call if you're Jagex, yes we play the game and if Jagex wants to continue earning our money they must satisfy us, but at the same time the game is PLAGUED by cheaters and Jagex is aware that this is a problem that is a HUGE issue to players. Right now Jagex must decide which is more important: following through with their attempt to rid the game of cheats(I'm fairly sure at this point this was a big motivation if not the only motivation)or to pacify all the people they have angered with this update (many of whom are legitimate players who don't cheat). The balls back in your court Jagex. Edit: also WOW are we being really serious about this, shows how important the game is to us all, I don't know whether to laugh or cry :D :?:
  16. Good point on the clicking I never realised, I'm now quitting  . Oh waiiiiiit i just played Gears of War and i realised i was just inputting commands via 8 different buttons........OH MY GOD ITS ALL A SHAM, we're through the rabbit hole here people. It seems all games we play we are just inputting commands via buttons, WE'RE NOT ACTUALLY SUPERHEROES, i feel like I've been duped and will be contacting my lawyer A.S.A.P to see if i have a right to sue. Thanks again for this post that made me aware of so many things I didn't know before.
  17. Oh snaaaaap! Game on!!!!!! This is going to be epic (consider me there).
  18. 500-1mil per 15 is too much it would NOT prevent real world trading and geepee laundering. 100k per 15 is not too much though and I think Jagex should adjust the figure to this.
  19. Couple reasons: 1)Not many people would be willing to 'trade' this way in the wildy 2)PKERS could very easily destroy the 'trade' I'll say it again: RWTing through the duel arena was (nigh on)IMPOSSIBLE to track, normal trades are EASY to track. The duel arena was where all the serious real world trading went on, hence the literally thousands of stakers banned this year (including some of the richest people in the game). The Duel Arena might as well of been called the 'clever players secret black market'. Edit: I know a lot of people are confused so I'll try and make it more clear what I think is going on. Jagex got a lot of negative feedback from the users (us) with regards to Gold farmers, autoers, drop traders and real world traders. Jagex KNOWS that all of the rule breakers are basically a criminal syndicate, they all work towards the same goal. Jagex THINKS its found a pivotal link in the chain, I.e: real world trading through the arena. In Jagex's eyes now is the time to win, now they can cripple these bastards who are ruining their game and costing them money.
  20. As i said on the big 'update killed runescape' topic RWTing in the duel arena was for all intents and purposes impossible to track and 'fix' unlike normal trades. It WAS the haven of real world traders who knew they were basically untouchable. Maybe Jagex is being a bit callous but i guarantee this has worked.
  21. TONS of stakers RWT'ed by using the duel arena, it was one of the biggest problems in the game.
  22. Wow thats basically exactly what I thought was the reason behind the update(I'm sure its not as black and white as that but still), its a bit stark to see it written by a JMOD. Looks like Qeltar WAS deceived...wheres the godamn justice.
  23. [hide] Yes. They have. There are far more trades each day and they claim to be able to track those. Maybe they are lying? Yet nobody at Jagex could figure out that a reasonable limit would suffice, without going to the ridiculous extreme of 12k per hour? Not as they are currently implemented. Have you tried them? They might be fun when the bugs are out but they're completely different from regular staking. [/hide] Tons of places and constantly. Here is just one example. It's not difficult to do. Killing staking to get rid of RWT makes as much sense as killing trading to get rid of RWT. If true (they deny it) then that goes back to my prior complaint about them not being honest about their goals here. You didn't get *my* point. The tournaments are completely different from staking even without the bug issue. They can fix the bugs, and the tournament will have merit as an additional feature but it is far too different from staking to appeal to those who enjoy that. [/hide] Fair enough on point 1, they did indeed. I didn't get your last point no, yes its different but really what your saying is people won't be able to make masses of money anymore, the tournaments are more fun by any kind of classification of fun(good riddance to bad bugs soon). You seem stuck on the whole 'didn't give us the whole truth', given what I've said before I have nothing more to add, but suffice to say I disagree with you.
  24. Yes. 1)Where/when? 2)They CAN track all information, they own the servers(rent?) afterall, theres a big difference between that and analyzing and detecting trends and patterns in said information. 3)I agree thats odd but my theory is that they wanted to make everyone play the new 'mini-game' and thus created such a massive contrast-you want money then tournament is the only option-you want fun then you can still duel 1-1 with a (very)small stake. 4)As i said 'once the bugs are out'. Thanks for repeating my point though :).
  25. You look at the pattern of losses, combine that with information like IP addresses and trading patterns and determine if they are legit or not. Jagex claims to be good at this stuff, remember? :) I don't think Jagex have ever claimed that they are 'good at tracking and detecting illegal transfers', I think they've said they TRY to stop these things happening. Aside from that how many stakes a day are there? 10k?100k? I figure its something like that, how can they track this much information AND analyze it in a reasonable amount of time(assuming they don't have a working A.I)? I have to say this problem is not like that of autoers or whatever, autoers cannot be stopped/limited because Jagex can't screen players. RWT through the duel arena CAN be stopped/limited by imposing limits on the amount being staked. I still think Jagex will change the limit to 100k per 15 minutes and actually I completely agree that at the moment it is verging on rude to put that in place (although once the bugs are out duel tournaments all arguments about the 3k thing are pointless because you CAN STILL STAKE LARGE AMOUNTS OF GEEEPEEEEEES).
