The thing is EVERYONE cane make money merchanting all it requires is an immunity to boredom, Jagex never intended for people to be able to make (literally billions) from buying and selling, as i said in the other thread this isn't a stock market simulation, I think people are slightly angry that someone with level 1 in every skill can buy and sell items untill he/she has billions, whereas a player who is self sufficient would NEVER be able to gather this wealth.
-
perhaps, but dont you think this could have come earlier if they truly thought that? or has merchanting suddenly hit a high priority. It's not like Jagex HATES merchants I just think that they never really thought through buying and selling en mass because they never saw the game progressing to the point where people had say 50k blood runes to sell, now we've been at the point where your AVERAGE scaper has several tons of stuff worth 10's of millions in their banks and they want a way for people to be able to exchange this without 'merchanting' or dealing with merchants. That's plaintively obvious because we have this update coming, its suggests Jagex isn't best friends with merchants. It also suggests as has every update for years that Jagex are trying to remove annoyance from the experience. Merchanting(and selling/buying) IS annoying thats why people can make such massive amounts of money by doing it-because others don't want to stand in banks all day.
-
The only worry i have is that this feature may be bugged quite badly at the beginning and given the nature of it, people could lose millions. I'm sure Jagex will do all they can to test it but I'm equally sure when 100k people use it theres going to be problems. As for merchanting, Jagex doesn't want people to merchant really, they want people to you know PLAY the game, not try and make money by buying cheap selling high, this isn't a stock market simulation.

Here's a parallel(hypothetical) situation, at 15 Jimmy decided hes a badass, school is just meaningless man, its a place to breed conformity and to squash freedom. Jimmy decided school isn't for him he drops outs, but soon realises he needs some money to eat, he robs a store (if in America he robs a store and shoots someone dead just cause thats the way you folks roll)now he has money but no house, he meets a fellow homeless person (at this point hes truly homeless now) and takes a hit of PCP, he gets stoned out of his mind and all is well. Later that year Jimmy is dead after having frozen to death in a freak storm(in NO WAY related to Jimmy taking PCP thats not my point). If only Jimmy had played Runescape instead........... The point of that: People will ALWAYS find excuses for under-achieving, it was Runescapes fault/it was cracks fault/it was my parents fault/it was my girlfriends fault etc...etc... the fact is I've heard all these excuses and my only answer is 'you chose to live the way you do, if you are unhappy with something its down to you to do something about it.' Some people just see no merit in doing certain things, I don't prescribe to the theory that this makes them : losers/wasters/idiots. Some people would rather punch themselves than go to a club and gurn away for 12 hours, some people do it every weekend. Noone is wasting their time, theres no such thing.

I think rune means runes(magic), and i think of scape as in landscape, so to me it means rune world. Thats really badly phrased sorry. Mostly game names involve either the content or style of the game, like Gears of War because the soldiers are called gears, Halo, because of the Halo devices, Warcraft, because war is waged.

The Archaeology Skill - (Surprise on Page 26!)

Sick idea, i most definitely support.   -
Not to mention asking personal details is against the rules.. Says nothing there about asking age. However it might have come off as a little rude to ask the person his age, because despite your intentions, it could have looked to the person like you were assuming they were a little kid. Of course I doubt they are really 5, but if they are that is one smart 5 year old  SUCH AS.
-
Look chap I'm not going to have this argument again, what they are doing is WRONG (maybe not illegal but thats an oversight on the part of all relevant authorities). Why exactly are you condoning people paying $5 so that they can 'play' for 12 hours a day and make $15? If you don't think this is the biggest problem in the world then your right, but in RUNESCAPE it is a significant problem that has adverse effects on everyone playing. I will not go into depth but at the moment in China there is a massive migration from villages/countryside to towns/cities, thusly there is a significant difference between jobs available and people requiring jobs, so there is a large number of people without jobs. This has absolutely nothing to do with ME or anyone playing Runescape, this is completely the fault of the WORKERS PARTY, which has and always will treat lower castes as pieces of [cabbage]. Don't try and lay blame at our door for the failings of the Chinese 'government'.

Its Jagex's intellectual property AND they 'rent' accounts to people, if I'm correct they can take your account away at any time for any reason and also DEMAND you remove pictures/videos of Runescape. Thusly it would seem to me that Jagex very much could sue gold farmers for 1)breach of contract, 2)abusing their intellectual property. Basically in a world where (famously) a house breaker (thief) fell through someones skylight onto knives(or similar) and SUCCESSFULLY sued the home owner for compensation, Jagex can certainly sue some Chinese arseholes for [bleep]ing their game up.

YOU actually broke the rules of the game, you aren't allowed to ask people in-game about their personal details (age, location, school etc...). :P we don't mind though, that rule is broken every second in-game. As for your query people are often defensive about things that embarrass them, such as having a high level and low slayer level (i don't know why this would be an issue of pride but it is). You weren't even criticizing him you were helping him. Criticizing would be saying 'oi your slayer level is poor for your level'.

Rudest: castle wars, I'm on Sara and Zammy has a bunch of 120's. I being the highest level Sara (98 or something at the time) decide to defend the flag and go all out repeatedly dying while achieving not much, the WHOLE time these 120+'s were calling me noob, froob, and various swear words. Its just so absurd that they got angry at me for trying to win a mini-game. Edit:I kept using lots of barricades and snare spells, I was generally doing a good job slowing them down, and they got extremely angry. Crudest: dunno probably telling someone to ..... 'insert swear word' off.

Someone is eventually going to say this so I might aswell: Noob=annoying person Newb=someone new to the game Noobs are by definition people who cause hassle to others. Newbs are players that don't really know whats going on.

If the hood, when put on, turns your head into skull it will be awesome, otherwise its just an item of clothing.

Does RuneScape needs 1000+ lvl monsters?
berbatovsky replied to the_murder21's topic in General Discussion
Did you even play other mmorpgs? Deaths do mean something. Usually, when you die you lose exp. When you are a high level, dieing once often means losing hours of exp. Are you serious? Unless by hours you mean 50 hours I'm not impressed, you're talking to Runescapers, losing 3 hours worth of COMBAT XP is absolutely nothing. As for the monster thing no need for a lvl 1000, how about a lvl 400 that can triple pray (but the prayer works like PVP prayer-does not completely nullify the attack)can attack with mage/range/melee, can teleport you, has a chance of degrading your armour/weapon (new idea i just had-makes the weapon/armour half as useful- it would obviously need to be fixable for a cost or w/e) and also can heal itself for 20-50 damage every minute. That would be a mean boss. -
Ring of Wealth: Experimentation Stage
berbatovsky replied to Lunar_Drifter's topic in General Discussion
I'm up for this, assuming i can kill the monster you chose (100 combat, 72 slayer, 159 quest points). Fire giants seem like a good idea. Edit:having killed many thousands of fire giants before, i can tell you that rune items are rare, rune scimmys are the most common of rune items, and i have never gotten a dragon med/ or left half so they can be considered very rare. Rune arrows and fire battlestaffs are semi-rare(slightly less rare than rune scim) fire runes and herbs are reasonably common drops-i always wear a row at fire giants. (Response to the post above). -
hmmmmm idea...whats my fellow tiper's thoughts?
berbatovsky replied to lordkrohn1626's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
I think rather than a strength bonus (cause c'mon everything has a strength bonus), Jagex should do something new, something special with the Dragon square. They should add a hitpoints bonus. YES A HITPOINTS BONUS. Its about time there were different additional stat effects on weapons and armour other than defence + strength. They could make a pair of legs with an agility bonus, a helm with slayer bonus etc... most of all they need items with hitpoint bonuses(all of these bonuses would raise your level like pots/stews). -
The new shop update, leading to a new banking system?
berbatovsky replied to JimmyMcNabb's topic in General Discussion
I saw a proposed new banking system someone made, with customizable tabs and everything, it also had an ALL tab which would be the same as what we have now with the OPTION of using other tabs. If they implement something like this everyone wins. Really these changes are long overdue its odd more people haven't complained about ALL of the interfaces we use every time we play. -
All that has happened is: 1)bots can't buy out shops and sell the items to players for gold which they would then sell for real $$$$$, +1 Jagex, 2)people who merchanted feathers, low lvl arrows, knives etc... are boned.....good.3) Getting basic and necessary equipment (i.e:feathers) is now no longer a laborious chore that melts the mind +2 Jagex. 4)people now have the OPTION of buying items incredibly quickly and without having to find a seller, but with the cost of...higher prices. +3 Jagex. I think Jagex did a good job, I do not think that this update will do any damage to the economy.
-
It doesn't make any sense that the price will drop to 750k, because thats the price of the one half you can buy......where does the other half come from? It is a very rare drop.........why would anyone sell it for nothing? WHAT?

I see people speaking Dutch more than i see people speaking any other non-English language, but really every person in Europe learns English as a primary subject at school, you'd have a hard time finding a European who couldn't speak passable English. So i don't think they need any different language servers, but its good experience for the company to work on a full translation. I don't think that Jagex will make a Chinese/Portuguese(language) etc.. server because regardless of how many people speak those languages in the world that figure wont translate to people playing the game.

1 October 2007 - Behind the Scenes - October

On my secondary account i started a while back i was trying to buy some bronze arrows from the varrock fletching shop, this was in F2p. EVERY SINGLE SHOP(world) had an auto buyer, i reported every one but the next day was the same. I don't know how this new unlimited stock system works but at the very least it means people can buy arrows in F2p again so YAY! As for the other updates, the clan share thing is obviously part of an ongoing attempt to improve the clan aspect of the game, the quest is a quest and changing the graphics makes things interesting. If you want ONE MASSIVE UPDATE ONLY then....go play WoW the extra scenarios cost ~ $40. -
From Chealdar: Spiritual warriors - 139, Jungle horrors - 120ish, Fever spiders 130-ish(first ever time I've had these), Jellies - 140ish, Spiritual Rangers - 139. Combat level 99, slayer level - 72. I got one spiritual warrior task a few tasks before the above set and i got 139 of them.

dude..you haven't even played any of the ps3 games have you? resistance fall of man is possibly the best fps i have ever played, warhawk is possible the best tps MP i've ever played. try them, you'll be blown away. no they don't suck, their gameplay is just..amazing. don't assume what you don't know dude, the games on ps3 are more fun than you think. you're just poisoned by the minds of 360 fanboys not keeping their mouth shut about the overly-hyped halo3... Actually i played a demo of resistance and omg was that game fun, i take back the ALL statement that was stupid and incorrect, BUT there is a lot of dross(bad games) on the PS3 that look STUNNING. I haven't played Warhawk (i'm pretty sure i played a version for the PC sometime back and it kicked [wagon]). You are right though such a sweeping statement was foolish its just that over 10 years the amount of 'pretty' games that have lacked substance is shocking and the PS3 seems to have waaaaay too many poor games at the moment, and i can only blame lazy/[developmentally delayed]ed developers/producers for this. Games have come a long way, but there are too many companies that are guaranteed a hit if they spend 2 years on graphics and 10 minutes on gameplay mechanics. Edit: The Halo series is basically a remake of a previous FPS series Bungie made, which I've forgotten the name of :wall: , the graphics weren't da bomb on that (think original doom) but the gameplay was awesome. Bungie are an exceptional gaming company that has never really made a half-finished product (maybe halo 2 counts story-wise). I have an Xbox360 but i have no grudge against Sony, in fact if and when there are 10 good games out for the PS3 i will buy it. -

With a small point to Crysis a game noted for insane graphics (its better than real life tim!...............) that CANNOT BE PLAYED AT ITS BEST SETTINGS ON ANY COMPUTER CURRENTLY AVAILABLE.thats insane the [bleep]ers have started bringing out what in effect is a concept game. They are sucking our wallets dry people, revolt, just because some tool bankrolled idiots to make the most complex graphics ever doesn't mean we need to spend $90 on the resultant game. You graphix [bleep] are gonna cost us all a lot of money by pushing prices up on useless games that look pretty. The problem with demanding awesome graphics can be seen on the PS3, ALL of its games are pretty awesome looking, ALL of its games are horrible to play. If you want something awesome to look at go to Brazil and look at the rainforest, or if your too lazy buy an HD TV and watch a show about the rainforest. If you want a decent game then gameplay will always be the most important thing. Edit: I am not saying crysis will suck, i am also not saying games with good graphics suck. I AM SAYING that when developers (especially the scummy ones) think that all they need to do to sell is have 'great graphics', then we suffer because we get deluged by awesome looking but awful playing games. If you don't think this is the case you obviously haven't been looking at the releases for consoles over the last 10 years.
