  1. Funny if Jagex did use AA's map editor to make a 3d Runescape FPS, although the lawsuit would be a pain.
  2. Dragons. Swords and Dragons..........and whips.
  3. Of course they could set the cap at 120, its their code that keeps it at 99 isn't it? Even if this isn't the case, then they could recode levels and level structure from the ground up. PvP combat is screwed right now(not because of god swords or w/e it already is) and the only logical things to do are 1) change the combat mechanics 2) increase the lvl cap.
  4. Sounds interesting and i have to give props to the people who pre-empted this after finding the dwarf explorers book. Can't really think of anything to say that hasn't been said so i'll leave it at that.
  5. Facile argument, if autoers werent doing it, real people would fill the gap.
  6. yup just no life and ask mom for hot pockets! MOM! BATHROOM! MOM! WHY DONT YOU SUPPORT MY RUNESCAPE GOALS? Both of you didn't make any sense....stop spamming to build up your post count. I meant like staying at the computer and not moving and going on intercom and saying like "Mom, I need more hotpockets" so that they don't have to get up. Um the 'MUM Bathroom!' one is from South park (wow episode), as is your hot pockets one, the other one is someone jumping on the train and not understanding the reference, and this is me explaining this which is spam. Have a nice day.
  7. I guarantee theres not been a major ATTITUDE shift, people playing rsc may have been CIVIL to each other, but still they were motivated by greed and competition, maybe they were smart enough to hide it but it was still there underlying everything they did. Seriously i have no idea how these NOOBS get on peoples nerves so frequently, yes they are scamming, parasitic 8 year olds but so what? You can't let them effect you, if they give you [cabbage] blow a rasberry at them, if they try to scam you report them, and so on. There are very few situations where they can ruin your game time, and in almost all these situations you can simply ignore them. People speak of 'the community' but i don't really think theres any such thing, some people are nice, some people are asshats just like real life, use your real life coping mechanisms in the game and you'll be ok and bottom line: don't let morons ruin your fun, rise above them, be secure in the knowledge that one day their heads will explode trying to work out how to run a macro script. Edit: The VAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAST majority of NOOBS in this game are young, deal with it. Young children generally are annoying and stupid, thats a fact, maybe some aren't but MOST ARE.
  8. I like how theres no hint of irony there :).
  9. 99 was vary rarely full prior to June, now it is full sometimes, all the servers are more full though because all the schools are out all aroudn the world. I'll go on any world not full of people destroying my latency.
  10. I got a black mask but that wasn't on a slayer task, so probably the time i got 4 rune full helms from one jelly task. I hate clue scrolls now and have dropped 5-10 in the last few months, however i did get a clue scroll from hellhounds which i did and got a sara plate and some rune stuff, which is pretty good.
  11. Goober: few people that have suffered an immensity of grief such as that play a game, you are right though the word all isnt fitting Reb:there are few (veeeeeeery few) people who care nothing for compliments, either sociopaths \ or people who have been crushed emotionally to the point where a compliment is just a meaningless babble in the background noise of despair.
  12. 99.999% of people posting their 'yields' will have done both quests yes (i think thats what you are asking). You get the abilty to put 100% workers to work after the first quest so say 50% on herbs 50% on maples, after the second quest you get and additonal 50% workers, so you can put 100% on herbs and 50% on maples or 50% maples, 50% herbs, 50% teaks/mahogany (its been a while since i visited my kingdom so i hope im not misleading you, i am fairly sure im correct though).
  13. Stan just because you think the topic starter makes a poor point doesnt mean the following discussion is useless, ive seen many threads (accross countless forums) with hundreds of thoughtful replies where the OP consisted of a poorly constructed rant. Just because you think the bar is set low doesnt mean you have to follow.
  14. (i tried to post this a while ago but my internet died). please leave the personal stuff away from this, i dont need to be told that 'half the people on this thread dont care about me' because quite frankly thats unnessecary information, furthermore theres no way you can speak for everyone. Maybe half the people do care about me and my opinions. Also please don't deign to tell me what MY subconsious is up to because that is the eptiomy of rudeness, i can just as easily say you began with this personal stuff because you had a bad day at school/work/unemployment centre and felt like being an [wagon], its baseless, but hey this is the year 2007 where anyone whos seen a chat show is an amateur psychologist ey? (btw its quite clear your 'example' is nothing more than a personal attack so dont try that line because im not an 8 year old) your original post Is there any one of you out there that can HONESTLY say that you dont Actually try to seek Attention? Whether or not its positive or bad attention is two different things all together. Many and most of the people that play this game usually seek the first part of this attention in the form of some kind of recognition. Which makes sence as I'm sure not many of us would play this game if it was just a Single Player game. (thanks highlanders ) HOWEVER, Lets flip the coin over and ask the same question. Why do people seek the negative attention that often times can be found seeking ingame or on these forums? Do they think that they are getting the same sence of Recognition and accomplishment from doing it? For better examples, What drives these people to not only scam or hack but also to LIE, often times blantently lie to other players over some of the most pointless matters. Even in the event the player doesnt really know what the answer/truth reallly is and doesn't really mean to be lying to another player, yet through talking to them theres no other possiblity that they could be mistaken or mislead, a.k.a wrong / incorrect. *(time for the strong closer)* Now the REAL QUESTION IS: Which Type of "Attention" (Positive or Negative) Do you seek and Why do you Seek this "Attention" ? Also why Do you think people Strive to Achive either type of Attention? *(Wait theres more to this! I'll put it in the Second Post)* Ill Add the examples to the second post. Mostly includes some recent messages ive had with folks to help me get to the point of making this topic. _________________ I still hold by the reasonable assertion that i DONT SEEK attention when im playing the game. I dont walk about in my best armour for no reason, i dont ask people leading questions about skills, i dont yell out when i get a lvl. Edit:Ill have you know that my victory dance is so blindingly awesome you would go...blind if you saw it, needless to say it involves body popping and foot stomping. I will be sending Jagex a video of me in a previous victory dance (after i crushed under foot a woefully under-prepared internet opponent in a game of starcraft years ago) in the hopes that they will implement it into the game (i will be removing the parts of the dance that are so awesome they make you blind). Edit2: removed a comment that is pompous and pointless at the same time.
  15. Finalement: the original post said everyone is always seeking attention in game, this then got expanded to fit real life situations, this has been proved to be a false statement, there are many situations in real life and in game where noone is seeking attention, you have all muddied the water so much because you know you are wrong. This is now an excercise in who can be bothered to post the same points over and over. THERE ARE CONCEIVABLE/REALISTIC SITUATIONS WHERE A PERSON RECEIVES ATTENTION THEY DID NOT SEEK. (if everyone ignores this as they have ignored most of my posts thus far i'll take it to mean i win, i will not be cheated out of my victory dance).
  16. Do you know what a discussion is? It doesn't mean people talking about somethign they know the solid facts of you know. There is nothing wrong with speculation, and as for Jagex not listening to people, You are joking arent you? They are one of the few games companies that BLATANTLY listens to its gamers input, many ideas posted on the official suggestion forum have been implemented in-game. Again this is a forum to discuss anything about the game, if you don't like a topic don't run in here with your axe and start decapitating people because you don't like the tone/content of a DIscussion. Its the wrong side of rude. As for summoning, it to me strikes me as not a skill but an extension of magic, there would need to be a clear difference and unfortunately i think that will mean you need to do a quest and use 'summoning' runes, which to me would be stupid. Of course this is all speculation and thus i'm likely to have my head bitten off for it but thats a risk im willing to take in the face of the forum nazis.
  17. I fail to see how im so "inexplicably confused" about something that ive been trying to say this whole time. You cant actually have GOTTEN any attention unless it was SOUGHT after to some degeree in the first place. Also yet again incorrect. If i ask you to go get me a glass of water. Weather or not you do it is up to you, however either way weather you get me the water or not im still seeking attention from you. If you didnt get me the water then you obviously paid me no attention, however if you did get it then you paid me some attention. Either way im still seeking it weather or not I actually got it is another story in its entirety. Your right, I cannot, and have not. However the fact still remains that it was sought after at one point. For example with my glass of water. I was thirsty and could care less if I was getting your affectionate/ positive attention, I just wanted a dang drink. Yes i see how you dont consider talking to your friends to be much of an attempt to get attention as much as you just consider it talking to your friends. But like Ive been saying and I think you now are finally understanding better as to what ive been saying. Is that it it is still in its own degree a form of getting attention. Also, is anyone gonna explain or try to explain, why people deliberatly or unknowing lie to gain attention? Whatever you think the reason is that they are doing it for...etc...like the second question in my first post points out...like it does above my reply to berb? Ill be back from work soon to debate this further if anyone can wait a few mre hours. :XD: Congratulations when two humans interact they generally have each others attention.. which is in noway what your original post seemed to be saying. Your original post to me sounded like ' people are attention hogs, they need attention, the only reason people play Runescape is for attention', what you are saying now is that when two humans interact they are attentive to each other. Again well done thats great you've discovered this. Okay when a person looks at a cow and the cow looks back both are paying attention to the other, so what? what are you actually saying anymore? When i talk to someone i want them to listen yes, i know this, everyone knows this its self evident because i addressed that person, hooooooooooowever when im playing runescape and im cutting some maples so i can get level 70 woodcutting so i can cut yew trees, how in the name of MUHAMMED is that an attempt to gain attention? If it is a means to get money so i can buy friends/followers then yes, otherwise your argument just fell over. Edit: if you had read my first reply to your post, you'll see that i attempted to address your point on why people lie. edit the 2nd: say im walking down the street and someone is being mugged, say i step in and knock the [bleep]er out, i enquire as to wether the victim is alright and arrange for the police to arrive, then someone comes up to me and goes 'hey dude your pretty aweome' I DID NOT SEEK THAT ATTENTION, and if you think people only do things to seek attention then you have a very low view of humanity, probably fired by your view of yourself and your worth.
  18. Read Goobore's post as he makes clear there is a difference between SEEKING attention and GETTING attention, something which is quite inexplicably confusing you. If you are saying you get attention no matter your intention your still wrong, as Goobore pointed out. Seriously at this point its about wrapping this up, your logic loses. You cannot say definitively that everyone playing the game is seeking and/or gaining attention. Just as i can't say every person is empathic and altruistic in their attitudes and intents when playing the game.
  19. Ill save you the bother of wondering what would have happened by showing you, defintions of words taken from dictionary.com Competitive: comÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâ÷petÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâ÷iÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâ÷tive ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâadjective 1. of, pertaining to, involving, or decided by competition: competitive sports; a competitive examination. 2. well suited for competition; having a feature that makes for successful competition: a competitive price. 3. having a strong desire to compete or to succeed. 4. useful to a competitor; giving a competitor an advantage: He was careful not to divulge competitive information about his invention. Attention: atÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâ÷tenÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâ÷tion -noun 1. the act or faculty of attending, esp. by directing the mind to an object. 2. Psychology. a. a concentration of the mind on a single object or thought, esp. one preferentially selected from a complex, with a view to limiting or clarifying receptivity by narrowing the range of stimuli. b. a state of consciousness characterized by such concentration. c. a capacity to maintain selective or sustained concentration. 3. observant care; consideration: Individual attention is given to each child. 4. civility or courtesy: attention to a guest. 5. notice or awareness: His deliberate cough caught the waiter's attention. 6. attentions, acts of courtesy or devotion indicating affection, as in courtship. 7. Military. an erect position with eyes to the front, arms to the sides, and heels together (often used as a command). unforunately i can't think of an adjective for attention seeking because i've never used anything other than attention seeker to talk about people who seek attention. I did find this though: The need for attention 'Human beings are social creatures and need social interaction, feedback, and validation of their worth. The emotionally mature person doesn't need to go hunting for these; they gain it naturally from their daily life, especially from their work and from stable relationships. Daniel Goleman calls emotional maturity emotional intelligence, or EQ; he believes, and I agree, that EQ is a much better indicator of a person's character and value than intelligence quotient, or IQ. The emotionally immature person, however, has low levels of self-esteem and self-confidence and consequently feels insecure; to counter these feelings of insecurity they will spend a large proportion of their lives creating situations in which they become the centre of attention. It may be that the need for attention is inversely proportional to emotional maturity, therefore anyone indulging in attention-seeking behaviours is telling you how emotionally immature they are.' (taken from:http://www.bullyonline.org/workbully/attent.htm)
  20. All those saying everyone seeks attention is rather naive, naive the way an 4 year old thinks they know everything. I can't remember a single time i've boasted to others in-game, tbh if you have a high level (relative i know) in a skill its a hastle, someone will say wat lvl r u?! and you say it and they either respond wow sick or wow your lame, i don't want anyone adoring me or abhoring me based on the amount of time a play the game. I play lots of games single and multiplayer but i don't play any of them to have people think i'm good at them, i play them because i enjoy them, if this is a foreign idea to you thats because you are imature. Yes i might look at the high scores and think i want to have higher skills but when, where and how has does that mean i'm seeking attention? We are all COMPETITIVE from birth that does not mean we all seek ATTENTION. There is rather a large difference. Edit: i suppose you could counter that with......look at your signature, but i havent updated my sig in a while, and i like the way it looks and without the text it would look empty, maybe ill replace the text with another awesome stickman drawing.
  21. These letters aren't very well formed, and also why didn't the authors put them through a spell and grammer check? I've seen many posts on these forums more interesting and well constructed than these and i'm assuming these were the best of all the efforts sent in. Basically what i'm saying is if the content and writing quality are worse than your average forum post, why bother?
  22. For some people its a defence mechanism, others are just attention seeking [bleep]. People will always conufse you, you'll think you have it sussed and worked out why people do apparently counter-productive things, but then someone will just blow you away with their idiocy/lunacy, i've had people argue the toss with me over things they literally know Nothing about and theres no reason for it, they know they know nothing yet they try and blag (pretend) they know something on the off chance of....of what impressing me? making me feel stupid? i dunno, w/e as i said explaining the motivations behind one lie of one person who is not yourself is veeeeeeeeeeery hard.
  23. If i was in charge i would reset the xp a person has at the value needed to secure a 99 (13 odd million), this would yes piss off about 20k people but also take away the reason for them being super competitive to the point they 'play' this game 10+ hours a day EVERY DAY. Jagex made a fair few mistakes that no other MMORPG has made and thats got a lot to do with them no thinking it would actually be comercially succesful/popular, included in these are the xp limits and rares. Noway should you be able to record xp after you reach the maximum possible level, and certainly you shouldnt be able to more than triple it. A simpler less likely to piss people off solution would be to up the lvl cap to 116 or something.[/code]
  24. I don't know why people expect there to be good stuff there in p2p or f2p, most people playing Runescape have no intention of giving anything away let alone stuff that has a substantial worth. As a couple people said this doesn't mean its lame or w/e, low lvl charachters will get useful free stuff and everyone else can enjoy the novelty of a new feature ingame. As for the slug fest between the p2per and f2per i will merely say that i played f2p for 3-4 months and yes there were many NOOBS everywhere talking smack to me about w/e, but also there were many non-noobs who you could talk to and tbh after 6ish months of members the same trend applies. PS:Yew trees in members are only slightly less occupied than the yew trees in f2p, i know a few people who chop yews for money. Also on the merchant note, what merchants do is buy low and sell high, not bad for the economy in any sense, but bad for the consumer yes.
  25. nope, sometimes i want to go out/hang out with friends, sometimes i want to sit at my computer and play games, i see no need to try and strike a balance by forcing myself to do one thing more than another, if i like doing something i do it.
