  1. They're only 100k now!? Ah well, it's still a rare drop, well done.
  2. Sounds good to me and fishing is a nice skill, btw your prayer should be /70 since you want all 70 skills right?
  3. I have a feeling there is more to it that just that. Why else would someone quit so close to finishing their goal?
  4. This isn't Halo 3, this is runescape. There are lots of other skills than hand-eye coordination (which isn't even tested in video games, it's just reflexes). In this game patience is the key. Looks like the mentality of your average scaper has two possible extreme: -On one side, the ignorant who thinks that it's impossible to achieve 99 in a skill because that's too much repetition to manage -On the other side, the ignorant who thinks that doing a repetitive task for hours upon end takes no skill whatsoever and can be achieved by anyone. Obviously, both are completely wrong because skillcapes as well as most goals in runescape have PATIENCE as their key and I can say for sure, that not everyone has the ability to craft over a million runes, or slay hundreds of thousands of beasties. Therefore, it does take quite a bit of skill to get a skillcape in runescape, just like any other MMORPG How much you respect it is really up to you, but if you think that no skill is required to sit down and repeat the same task over and over again you are dead wrong and your inability to do so simply proves my point even further. I can just tell by the way you act that your skills are very low because it seems you do not understand the magnitude of these accomplishments.
  5. Way to miss the point. His statement "a 99 isn't a 99" is just pointing out to people that not all 99 skills are the same. And he, as opposed to far too many people in this thread, is absolutely correct. Also, you claim people will just go for, say, the cooking cape before moving on to a harder one. That's all great, except these people just go for 99 cooking and fletching to have the two as a pair and then wonder why they get no respect. I can understand if someone does 99 cooking before 99 runecrafting, but when they decide not to go for 99 runecrafting in the end and just go for 99 fletching I lose all my respect for them. Also, loads of people just content themselves with getting 99 cooking and fletching and then proclaim "proud to be owner of fletching/cooking cape". You might as well say "proud to be in the top 20 000". I don't know about you but that statement certainly doesn't make me awe in amazement or anything. So in the end, it's great if someone goes for an easy skillcape and then a hard one, except when they just take the easy way both times. I don't respect people who always take the shortcut just to be part of "the skillcape owners".
  6. Perhaps you think i'm insulting your intelligence because you're not responding to my points directly, you're just restating things over and over. Frankly I don't think I really did insult you but hey, whatever. If a skill makes more profit then it is easier to train? that doesn't even make sense. "easier to train" is not an explanation of what makes a skill "profitable" so you cannot make that statement. profitable means you get money from the skill (example: Abyssal rcing is very profitable because you can get a lot of money), it does NOT mean that the skill is easy to train, the term for that is called "easy". Profitable implies that the method somehow gains you cash. Cooking is NOT profitable because you lose money. It's not easy for that reason, it's easy for other reasons. Furthermore, you claim that easy skills have higher motivations because they gain levels fast? Not really. The overall achievement is fairly weak and thus the only motivation is getting a cape. Having 99 in a hard skill serves as a much better motivator than having 99 in a weak skill like cooking. All this is my personal view. Different people are motivated by different things so they will find cooking has sufficient motivation. However, none of this has anything to do with profit! Agility has fewer capes not because it's "unprofitable" (which is totally irrelevant since you don't even get cash from it) but because it's harder to train. Go look up a definition of "profitable" or at least explain how you could possibly think that "profitable" means "easy to train".
  7. Well i recommend you follow my advice for your range training as well. It applies for any massive goal. Best of luck with both those goals :
  8. That sounds like a plan : . 99 fletching is not hard, it should serve as a perfect warm up. 99 range/mage are relatively easy but respected because they allow to become a mass killing machine.
  9. No secret, just simple math. Years ago, having a 99 was something really hard to accomplish. Now, when you think about it, it really depends on the cost and on the hourly exp rate. For cooking, the exp rate is huge, and the cost is fairly minimal (even smaller if you sell your cooked sharks). In 5 hours a day you can get to 99 in two weeks (maybe a little more, but you have the weekends where you can probably pay a bit more, right?) If you give it a try you'll notice how easy it is. Then maybe you can go for a harder 99. Or if you really want a challenge you can go for a hard 99 right away, although I wouldn't recommend this, because it makes the 99 seem even harder
  10. Yep, maybe that depressing conversation with friend bored me :/ we were talking about quitting rs Well i've got some very useful tips for such succeeding such goals but I will only explain them in a guide which I plan to make in about a week or so. For now, however, I'll give you one of the important tips: Checkpoints. You should set mini-goals along the way. So for example if you want 91 rc, tell yourself "ok, I want to make 3k nats each day" or something (try daily, weekly, hourly goals). Otherwise, the thought of crafting 500k+ nats usually results in a sense of failure.
  11. And with the tree seeds you end up in the millions. So it's a gamble but most of the time totally worth it
  12. Looks like you gave up pretty fast. Don't worry that's normal. Aim for 75 using any method and then consider 91 your ultimate goal (don't even think about 99 yet)
  13. Cooking/fletching each take 2 weeks, not "months" Smithing cape takes a few months (depending on your income), not a year. Firecape isn't exactly extremely rare btw. But it is way better than fletching/cooking and probably several other 99s
  14. But you still have to wait for the trees to grow which takes time. Also if a skill is expensive that implies that it is difficult.
  15. Obviously you have no idea what "profitable" means. It has to do with the money you get. If you spend 6 mill and get 4 mill back, your overall profit is -2mill that means you're LOSING money therefore it is NOT profitable. Profit is not the only reason why someone would continue a skill, so do not assume "oh people do continue training cooking therefore it must be profitable". People train cooking because the exp rates are very high and the mere fact that there is a return. Exp rates have nothing to do with profit.
  16. Good luck, I had untrimmed construction skillcape myself for a couple of months.
  17. It's not just "skillcapes" that are respectable. They each have their own degree of respect. Going for 99 cooking/fletching will grant you no respect, 99 smithing will get you quite a bit. Also, buyable doesn't always imply less respectable . Construction is one of the rarest skillcapes and it is buyable I'm not going to compare each skillcape to the firecape. Which skillcape(s) are you going for?
  18. you don't need to alch, you can just sell. If you want mage exp then it's a whole different story, but I wouldn't include the time it takes to alch them
  19. Cooking isn't profitable, raw are considerably more than their cooked counterparts. OT: It's because like everyone said, there common and people are like 'meh, be more original' And imo both are very very ugly. Its still profitable, considering how little work has to be done on the cooking end of the spectrum. Not that fishing is much harder... easier is not the same as profitable. If you lose money it's not profitable and the fact that it has generous exp/hour rates makes it easy.
  20. Always the same story. The monsters do not belong to anyone, so anyone is allowed to come along and set up his cannon. You can't steal exp that didn't belong to you to begin with. It's not unreasonable for the person using the cannon to kill all the monsters. You cannot say that they are "stealing kills" since the kills were never your to begin with. You can say that it is "inconsiderate" of him, but he is just using a more efficient method and your well-being is not his responsibility. You cannot say that it's an unfair advantage because everyone has the same opportunity to get a cannon, he has chosen to take it and you have not. Just get your own cannon pr stop whining and switch worlds. Also, it's really low of you to use real life threats they accomplish absolutely nothing. Oh and don't rant if you're only making this rant to let out some steam. This is a discussion forum not a punching bag.
  21. He's 63 which is about 13M xp needed and he's doing lobbies. He's only doing lobbies until he can do sharks.
  22. if you go for the fastest don't be surprised if no-one respects your skillcapes. The fastest skillcapes are usually the easiest achieved (except construction and prayer, those are among the hardest).
  23. There's no way cooking takes a month. At 3 hours a day it's just about a week and a half (less if you play more on weekends)
  24. one of his function is to turn noted items into items Also, he fetches only specific construction related materials (no planks) from the bank.
