My Problem With People Who Have Problems With Pure Skillers
Solidus_77 replied to RayOxide's topic in Rants
In the majority of people's eyes, combat is more important than other skills (some claim it's the only thing that matters). And you whining about it ain't gonna change that. As a skiller you're just going to have to expect some discrimination from elitists. The only solution is to not impose this limitation on yourself. Personally I'm not a huge fan of skillers just because the only reason why they became a skiller is to say "Hey everybody look at me, I'm special because I'm only level 3 but with very high stats". I'm ready to acknowledge any of the accomplishments you've made but I don't like people excluding them self from the a large of the game just to feel "special". Not caring much about combat and focusing on skills is one thing, but purposely avoiding anything related to combat is just shooting yourself in the foot, unless to you getting people's attention by being a skiller is extremely important to you. Going out of your way so much just shows that even without having done any combat you already know you hate it, that's not very open-minded now is it? -
The Skillcape Outfit Competition v.3! Post Your Outfit!

Not the same format but I hope it's acceptable because I'm not going to be able to redo this picture (gender is different, it looks better this way) Still looking for an outfit to go with my construction cape. When will the deadline be do you think? -
There are tons of different ways to make money in this game and I can't tell which one is right for you until you give some info about your stats. There's no simple method that gives you tons of cash that everyone uses.

Runescape after autoers and bots? some thoughts
Solidus_77 replied to Adicolorz's topic in General Discussion
The price increase of most goods is an acceptable sacrifice to get rid of these damn bots. Now there's a big misconception here between what's lazy and what's efficient You say that buying materials is lazy. Well in fact, it isn't it's efficient. Let's say I make 1 mill per hour, ess costs 100 each and takes 1 hour per 1k. I have 2 choices I can either, spend 10 hours mining ess, or I can spend 1 hour making money and then buying the ess. If I choose to buy the ess, I'm not lazy, I'm using common sense and comparative advantage. I do what I am best at doing, sell that product and buy everything else I need. It saves me tons of time. If you consider that "lazy" then we are all either lazy for buying materials or stupid for wasting countless hours making them. Of course, in the game, self-sufficiency is fun. But it's stupid to go around accusing others of buying materials when it's the logical thing to do. -
The Way we Were: A History of RuneScape
Solidus_77 replied to Bobbington's topic in General Discussion
Got one, can't believe these were my stats after like 6 months of playing  . Bring back memories.... I've uploaded the whole image so you can crop as you see fit I just might have some pre-slayer stat pics but I don't think any will have survived. My hard drive got toasted a could of months ago so it's a miracle I even had this picture. -
What was your best decision in Runescape?
Solidus_77 replied to Behind_you0's topic in Questionnaires
as I sit in a BA room, 2 weeks before my semester exams, a thought came through my head: I should get 99 construction as my first skillcape. So instead of reviewing, I rced nats and the for the rest of the month of January I made oak larders and even more nats. In game that brought me fame, a very rare cape, attention wherever i go and most of all, a profound knowledge for how to succeed endurance-type challenges like getting 99s in a skill. Absolutely the best decision I ever made because I learned so much from it about my abilities and how to use them Oh and the exams? Turns out I got the best results that I had ever gotten before on my previous mid-term exams :XD: -
commedic/nasty names? how do you like em? read post first
Solidus_77 replied to Chippy_PK's topic in Questionnaires
Gotta love the spoonerisms, best way to avoid the censor without lessening the meaning of the dirty word. I love the suggestive ones, they are always a good laugh. Clever ones are good too. I'm not, however, amused by the ones with "poop" in them, I haven't been amused by one of those jokes since pre-school. A good rs friend of mine is called Toss Job. He's sometimes worried about being banned over his name. -
No one respects Capes of Achievements..
Solidus_77 replied to Yohbilleh's topic in General Discussion
From nothing you can stake 100m? I highly doubt that. There's no guarantee that you'll win your stakes. Also, risking a huge amount of money is anything but "easy". For every stake there's going to be a winner and a loser therefore you cannot prove that you can always be on the winning side. Then don't criticize them. So you like skillcapes but you fail to even understand what they are? Skillcapes are symbols, they can represent months of effort and dedication to a skill. Yeah, that's respectable because you can't get it. That's the concept of value. And it's not measured in pixels. Only when you come here to bash other people's achievements and make claims despite your complete lack of achievements yourself. If you learn to understand and accept others, then your presence is valued. -
Tip.it Times Presents: I could do that job so much better!
Solidus_77 replied to MPM's topic in General Discussion
The mentality fought against in this article is a problem indeed, I wish people were more understanding in general, but I guess that just comes with maturity. -

The Emerging Runescape Intellectual Class
Solidus_77 replied to primadog's topic in General Discussion
I'll admit the terminology was a bit off, since I'm kind of making this all up as I go. Yes, in the casses (especially of levels and any activities) the barriers to entry can be achieved by anyone. However, I do believe that people will specialize (to a certain extent) making various "classes" in the game and so it is my belief is that there are in fact classes but that people can move freely among them. So this is very similar to what you said except I do believe a certain structure exists. There are also some exceptions to opportunity which are the untradable rares. Some people have benefited from these while others (like myself for the bunny ears and scythe) will never have a shot at them. -
depends on what you call "manageable". It can certainly be done

An achievement that takes 3 months is not equivalent to an achievement that takes 2 weeks. Stop claiming all 99s are the same when they differ tremendously.

13M exp!! Party this evening!!
Solidus_77 replied to Sid Skatekid's topic in Achievements (Drops, Bank Pictures and Levels)
early congratz, how long did it take? -
You chose the wrong rant to bring this kind of arrogance in. It is a problem, because of some dumb rumor now tons of people have the wrong idea. It would be fine if they just made a lot of noise about it, but some idiots will go as far as to kick you off the team for using the cannon. Obviously this is a problem, not just a one-time thing.

The Emerging Runescape Intellectual Class
Solidus_77 replied to primadog's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, even in game geographic distribution can demonstrate this. Your theory works to a certain extent for job barriers creating economic divisions. People are free to move around as they please but some choose to take a different route then others. You are correct in saying that everyone gets the same opportunities however not everyone will choose the same things. Some people can go for pking while others choose to only focus on skills. Therefore, there is a "class" system in runescape however, unlike real life and you have are correct about this, people are free to move throughout the various classes with a lot more freedom than in real life. Those are the job divisions each forming lots of little classes. There are 2 other divisions that I can think of that form classes: personal skills: Not everyone can have the same achievements because some people are just more patient than others Parental controls. Not everyone is given the same amount of time to play per day and not everyone can get membership. -
How about no.

I'll take Zezima's word over yours any day. Come up with some better evidence (or just come up with some evidence to begin with) and then I'll start listening to your claims. This whole idea of "I can't be that efficient so he must not be that efficient so there just has to be another explanation" is just ridiculous. It was already obvious that zezima was consistently efficient considering the amount of exp he gains and the amount of time he gains it in as well as the fact that he doesn't spend time doing things like pking. Therefore that's not an unreasonable claim to make on his part The rest is the neither unreasonable nor fishy either.
