  1. I guess that makes me an economist. I try to demonstrate or explain changes in price and disprove the "great depression" theories.
  2. And by letting the runners get past, the entire team (including the defender) loses even more points What I absolutely hate about this issue is how this all started with losing POTENTIAL points. And now, because so many idiots are simply minding, it's become a belief that firing the cannon acctually deducts points. How can people be such idiots? I guess the only solution is for people to form teams with only people they know or trust to have common sense.
  3. Two years ago it was like "my little brother plays that game, I can't believe you play that", now I announce it in a more, um, acceptable way perhaps or I try and keep it a secret (yeah, I'm too much into reputations but that's just me). I think that the older we get, the more willing we are to accept people. I'm getting a better rep than I did in 9th grade, and the people who come to pester me are generally younger. In a geeky environment however (tech camps, lots of fun btw), it was more amusing as I learned some interesting things: the idiots who say stuff like "lol, rs suxors u'r a n00b. Wow is soo much better, lol i pwn you" DO actually exist. Yeah, I also wish it wasn't true. :( I had way more people saying stuff like "get a life" than in a normal environment which leads me to conclude that some geeks want to be the least geeky geeks even amongst fellow geeks Talking to a girl is apparently considered "having a relationship" in some people's minds. :? ooookaay, sure why not. :-w Overall, I think some of them do everything they can not to appear geeky (again, these were generally the younger ones) On a sidenote: So it seems The Geek Stereotype is the theme of the week on TIF. Well that's good, i was getting bored of last week's Not Getting Pride for Achieving Fletching/Cooking Skillcapes theme.
  4. Often on IRC when I talk about getting out or having a social life, people will call me a hypocrite. People assume that I have spent many hours getting my skills. And you know what? they are correct. I have spent many hours playing but I have also done tons of other things as well. So go ahead and judge me by what you've seen me do in this game, I know how to interpret it. Also, this may be hard to believe but I went for 3 weeks without an internet connection! :ohnoes: the shock! How could I possibly entertain myself? Well probably not in the way that some of you are thinking :notalk: . I went rock climbing, and even met up with some friends that I hadn't seen for a year. Fun stuff. Oh yeah, and I beat halo 2 during tha time as well. I may be a lil insecure, but at least I do what I like to do in my life. Obviously wouldn't understand "efficiency" even if it slaped you in the face. 500k exp can be obtained in just 3 hours. Stop trying to find a "baseline" or make "nerd-meter", we're talking about people not robots. Here's a better question: if a person is so insecure that they feel the need to justify their entire daily schedule just so that they don't appear nerdy, does that make them a nerd? Clearly you've missed, not only the sarcasm, but also the entire point of Rebdragon's post. Basically, stop trying to show why you are not a nerd. It only shows how insecure you are of yourself and someone who's insecure is only hurting himself in the end when he tries to be someone he is not. On the other hand I do disagree with Rebdragon saying it's annoying to see people trying to defend themselves, I think it's amusing (even if I do it myself sometimes #-o ).
  5. are there more charts where that came from? I'd be curious to see the propagation of the skillcapes over this past year
  6. If so, then why is an income of 1 mill per hour praised as one of the best incomes in the game? The only exceptions are staking and merchanting. Both have a lot of prerequisites and both have VERY fluctuating incomes. 100m is not easy to get. If it was, people wouldn't be satisfied with methods that give 500k per hour. You're not the first person to claim 100m is a small amount of cash, but just like everyone else, when asked to explain how you "easily" obtained such an amount you simply ignore the question. So you've quit runescape but you come back on this forum just for the sake of bashing skillcapes? That's truly pathetic and doesn't change the fact that your skills are nothing to be proud of. Another pathetic excuse, completely meaningless since it hasn't happened. I respect people who have patience and determination which are qualities needed for skillcapes. Why are you unwilling to acknowledge patience and determination?
  7. You need to look at the bigger picture to understand. Then you will realize that they haven't deterred store-bots, they have eliminated them completely! Before, they could just sit in a store and buy tons of runes for a cheap price and then sell them to players for a profit. Now, because there are infinite stocks, the street price doesn't exceed the shop price (because almost all cannot compete with an infinite stocks) So now the bots can buy all the air runes they want for 17 gp each but the street price for air runes is less than 17 gp so it's a complete waste of time.
  8. I picked samurai, the classic "honorable Japanese warrior look". Although people say I look like a catfish. :XD: . It's not anywhere close to me in real life, but you could say it's a mental version of me, the one full of pride.
  9. pretty sure it was over 12, probably 14. All of it was crafting nats in the abyss. Made almost 40k nats but I'm never doing it again
  10. A bit of both. You can hit relatively high for bolts that just cost 4 gp making it an excellent training weapon
  11. That is really cool. So in the past year, there have been 250 people go for 99 construction and about that much go for 99 rc. Then 20000 people have gone for 99 fletching/cooking.
  12. That's completely wrong. Most people will take weeks to get the 100m needed for construction. You claim most people just choose not to, that's just a biased assumption that you can't even prove. Just because this is a game doesn't mean you shouldn't get respect. Getting to 99 con is something that only 300 or so players WORLDWIDE have been able to accomplish. That commends a ton of respect. Then, saying "it's not hard, all you need to do is sit in front of your computer repeating the same action over and over" is like saying "It's not hard to win the 100m Olympic race, you just have to run fast". The idea is that, yes it sounds simple, but out of the millions of rs players, only a select 300 or so have managed to accomplish this. Then, if it's so damn easy, where's your construction skillcape? Surely you would have already obtained a cape that you claim is easy yet is among the rarest of them all. Speak for yourself, whenever I put my cape on I am the center of attention. You can't just say "all buyables are not respected" because some of them are very much respected such as herblore, construction, prayer. People who say buyables are not respected refer to the easy ones like our extremely common duo: fletching/cooking.
  13. lots of special stuff and lots of useful stuff. 9/10 Get rid of some of that junk in your bank and it's 10/10
  14. just like in real life, no need to use armor-piecing rifles to practice shooting cardboard cuttouts. Save the serious ammo for serious killing and use bone bolts for cheap training.
  15. This whole debate has been about how you don't know what "profitable" means. Next time try and read other people's arguments.
  16. This is more of a suggestion than a debate. Could you be a bit more specific about how this system works?
  17. I frankly don't mind having a different opinion on what's a better motivator and it's perfectly acceptable that you consider easy skills as better motivators (even if I disagree). However the definition of a word is not a subject to debate and I cannot believe that you STILL do not know what the damn word "profitable" means. I honestly don't think that the name poopingman can be sullied over a trivial debate  . As far as I'm concerned however, your reputation just got broken when you blatantly ignored and insisted on debating the definition of a word and then just used some lame evasive tactic.
  18. I try out a minigame, and if that doesn't work I log out because I don't like playing without having fun
  19. Most Respectable: slayer (because i will most likely never get it) Least Respectable: fletching/cooking (because an achievement held by 25000 other players is not impressive in my book) Favorite/Why: construction because it allows for sooo many uses Got any for yourself: construction, defense and I'm getting very close to one (but that's a secret  )
  20. I have a perfect understanding of how the game works. I never said they weren't allowed to use them, I said I am ANNOYED by them. Well you certainly came to the wrong place. Yes, this may be for "venting frustration" but like i said before, this isn't a punching bag. This forum is for DISCUSSION. When you make a post, you need to expect people to post in it and since you've raised an issue people will be obviously presenting their opinion. And not everyone is going to side with you on an issue, especially such a pathetic complaint like this one. So now, if we don't agree with you, we are trying to feel superior? So that means that our arguments are so good that you feel too intimidated to even respond to them Were you not aware that there was going to be some discussion in a discussion forum :-s
  21. Thank you Rebdragon, you saved me from writting a 3000 word post about how I hate people who can't accept being proven wrong and potentially getting myself in trouble for flaming :-X Poopingman, learn what "profitable" means. Do not make me repeat myself again.
  22. Well you've certainly got some good balance which is excellent, it means you neglected no skill. However, overall it's a bit on the low side. Nonetheless keep up the good work : 6/10
  23. what impresses me most of all is a lvl 3 carrying around a dyed silverlight. Well done that's pretty special.
