Question: Least-Admirable Skill Cape
Solidus_77 replied to Lunar_Drifter's topic in General Discussion
Fishing is harder than agility. Both have similar exp rates, but fishing requires less attention than agility (making fishing easier) and agility actually costs quite a lot of super energy potions (making agility harder) Therefore, agility is harder than fishing. -
Your search ends now You are wrong to assume that the nat prices must rise to 1 gp less than whatever the store price offers. If the store price was 1k per nat, would nats be sold at 999 each? Obviously not. This is because the supply of nats is almost entirely based on players competing amongst each other, not against the shop price. But that alone doesn't point out the tremendous flaw in your theory. Your entire theory goes against the principle of economics. Price is not determined by people, it is determined by supply and demand. Therefore, the price of 300 each is the price at which rcers are willing to pay. There is absolutely nothing that you can do against this, if you shout "don't sell nats for 300 each, sell them for 374 each", the person who tries to do so will not get any offers because there are enough people who are selling nats for 300 each to satisfy the market for that current time. This applies to real life with one major exception: monopoly. If there is ONE seller, that seller is going to be able to set the price higher because he is able to control how many are being produced (so he can choose either more for a lower price or less for a higher price). It is, however, completely impossible to form a monopoly over nat crating. Even if you could get all the nat crafters in the world to agree on a price (never going to happen), then plenty of people can just get 44 rcing and easily compete with the ridiculous prices. You can even see that this will not work by looking at the suppliers. Take me, for example. I am willing to sell my nats for as low as 300 each. If people start selling for 374 gp each, I'll just sell my nats for 350 each and all the consumers will come to me instead of them. If people start lowering it to 345 (which would happen if many people did as I am doing), I'll lower my prices to 340. I will keep this up till I end up selling them for 300 gp. At 300 gp I refuse to go any lower because I am part of producer surplus until 300 gp. Because the suppliers themselves are willing to sell their nats for 300 each. It's as simple as that. They could get more, but all of that is just surplus and doesn't change the fact that they are willing to pay 300 each. It may or may not be tricky, it all depends on where the price is set. Clearly jagex knows a thing or two and set the price way above the market price. The only effect that infinite supply has on nats is to serve as a price ceiling, in other words, a price that nature runs will not go above (and it has no effect because the ceiling price is above the equilibrium price). The only slight fluctuation is from people who use to buy nats from shops, however obviously their effect is extremely limited because there has been a very small effect.

The only passage I don't approve of is this one: The obvious message in this thing is "don't go for goals it's not worth it". Speak for yourself. Having goals and learning to persevere is a good thing that is valuable in real life. For something to be "worth it" is a perception of value and that, you should know, is a personal choice. So for one person it's not worth it, but for another it is. Also, you say how you'd "rather" be something else. Why would it be a choice? Why does someone have to choose between runescape and real life? Are you incapable of showing some self-control? In the end, you're just trying to dictate someone's life for them. If they would rather drop out of school to get a better goal in a game, leave it to them. However don't assume that someone who has high stats must have dropped out of school. It's like you said previously, as long as you have self-control, it's fine. If someone works a little bit each day on their skill, they can get it done without sacrificing their life. In fact, no-lifing one day for some extra experience is harmful to your overall goal. Everything else, I think, represents feelings shared with the entire community. There are some very good things about luck (runescape is probably about as luck-based as real life tbh) or about patience (totally agree, it is a valuable skill) and lots more. I, too, am sick of people blatantly boasting about their thread getting a certain amount of views. It's annoying because it's so obvious that those people are just attention-seekers. That's interesting, but at the same time sad. 70% of the people.... that makes a lot of gullible idiots.

I will turn on clan chat when the party draws nearer Party information: Date: November 4th 2007 Time: 3:00 PM GMT World: 99 Location: Rimmington house RSN: Solidus_77 Contact info: Simply post here. If it's more urgent then PM me through TIF Now for some explanation, Ever since I got back from summer break, I've doing only one thing: crafting nature runes through the abyss to get 99 rc. From 94, this meant 10 weeks of endless crafting nats. Now, 9 weeks later, I'm in the final stage of my plan and I'm ready to announce it. The first celebration is the 3 year milestone. I started playing runescape on November 4th 2004 and, thanks to some extra work, I managed to make the party fall on that day. The second celebration is for 99 rc. Now, unfortunately, I did not get this all 100% through the abyss, since I was level 48 rc when the abyss was released, and I used law company a couple of times. However, since 91 rc I have used no other method expect abyssal runecrafting. So I'm proud to say that I at least got that. The third celebration is for another goal that I have achieved. Most of the money I got from crafting was intended to pay for an item that I have dreamed of for a long time: The green partyhat. 2 months ago, I had 10k ess in my bank, now I have a green partyhat. I got it only via skilling and that, in my opinion, is quite a challenge Anyways, I'll post the official achievement, as well as LOTS of pics, the night of the party. THE PARTY IS PLANNED FOR 3 PM GMT ON NOVEMBER 4TH. HOWEVER, THIS TIME MAY CHANGE SO MAKE SURE AND CHECK BACK HERE TO CONFIRM Everyone is invited to this party. I'm aiming at getting as many people as possible so bring friends. What this party consists of: - first, the house party - Then, when everyone is there, I'll use a skill lamp and get 99 rc followed by a train to Aubury's shop where I get the cape - Finally, games from the games room (rewards will be put in the chest, the amount has yet to be determined) What my house consists of: Unfortunately, due to the rising price of phats, I'm ending up with less than half the cash that I had expected so I have chosen not to add anything to the dungeon. I will, however, add some rooms just to get some breathing space in there. The completed house will come eventually. Most of everything else, however, is maxed out. What you should bring: Note: these are only recommended, not required - armor and weapons for the fighting in combat ring - bow and arrows so that you can participate in ranging game - a melee weapon to hit the marble attack stone Other than that, I hope to see you there :

MechScape: The reason for the decline of RS?
Solidus_77 replied to Dragonlordjl's topic in General Discussion
It's only a secondary source. You'll need primary sources before you can be absolutely sure. Frankly, I don't mind this at all, in fact it would be pretty cool even if I don't believe it. But what I don't like is that people are looking for an explanation for what they call a "decline" when there has been no such thing. -
wow, lots of usefull and impressive stuff. Also my favorite color phat

MechScape: The reason for the decline of RS?
Solidus_77 replied to Dragonlordjl's topic in General Discussion
What decline? Oh you mean the consistent rise in the number of runescape players? Also I can't believe you trust wikipedia so much. From American dad: Stan: "If only there was a place where you could say the most outrageous claim about anything with absolutely no proof and people would take it as truth" Steve: "I know" *goes on wikipedia* -
Rate my Top-20kness
Solidus_77 replied to Jordanweb's topic in Achievements (Drops, Bank Pictures and Levels)
It's only 87 levels away :D funny how 10k players all fall in a range of 87 levels Gratz btw -
How can you look at the entire year? The numbers over the summer and during breaks vary strongly, even the number of weeknights vs weekends. Comparing similar times in different years, the numbers are pretty consistent, if not increasing. 80k players during nighttime is actually pretty similar to numbers back then, and I've seen nighttime numbers of 100k players so there really has been no increase. So actually, I think you're wrong, the numbers have been going up instead of down. and where might this "vast majority be"? The only stuff I've seen are some idiots ranting about the stuff they lost on RSOF and the connection lost could have perfectly well been on their end.

What's your average rannar plant death rate?

if the yield is lower, then another solution is to bind the amulet of nature to an herb patch. -

Thanks for the positive comments. I'll have the next section up tomorrow (it's a lot shorter, but still has some helpful "words of wisdom" in it) Ah yes, it's in about a week now. Well I guess it's time I made the thread for the party then. I'll get that up tomorrow as well  -
Actually the limitation is fine as it is. I don't feel like fighting a runescape version of Yiazmat. :notalk:

Yeah, too many unranked stats so I rate it under-average stats. 4/10 Welcome to the forums too : -
Hybrid dking cannot be done efficiently alone. You run out of potions if you have more than one king attacking you constantly. It probably can physically be done, but it's so horribly inefficient that there is no point. I was referring to the Fight Caves and the Tztok-Jad, though luck wasn't on my side during Dagannoth King fights. My point is, if Jagex want to incorporate a monster that HAS to be taken on as a group they'll need to force it to be so. They had it right with the Penance Queen but something more hazardous and defensive (as the GWD bosses should have been) with my other indirect suggestion (all protection prayers on unless attacked by at least two of them). Ok, that makes sense, but the problem is how this game is structured. I mean, this isn't world of warcraft. If we die, we lose a hell of a lot more so we can't have instances where a SLIGHT mistake will result in the entire team killed (like Leeroy Jenkins). So for many things like dag kings, the question is not "can you beat them?" it's "how many times can you beat them in one trip?". Also, even if Dag Kings can physically all be solo'd, it's still one of the most dangerous activities on runescape.
