Tip.It Users Takin The Wrong Point Of View?
Solidus_77 replied to Ouchy's topic in General Discussion
This has been debated at least twice already. First was "Why autoers are helping the economy". We already know that they there are winners and losers in this situation, however we have also decided already that the losers lose more than the winners win. Yes, the consumers are winning here, however them winning at the cost of letting autoers invade rs is acceptable. Conversely, if autoers are removed, the loss to the consumers is an acceptable sacrifice. -
I guess you are right, however with the risk involved previously there was still encouragement to do things yourself safely. Now that is gone. I like the fact i can help others out, but i do think each player should only be able to request assistant so many times in a 24 hour period. Well it looks like jagex was thinking of you when they made the system because you can only gain 30k exp in a period of 24 hours AND once the 30k exp is obtained, you cannot offer to assist. The assist is really for those 1-time things.

self-sufficiency = inefficient. Do what you are best at doing and use that to pay for stuff that other people are best at doing. Self-sufficiency, despite being fun, is a waste of time Also, this update does not create any sort of incentive not to level the skill because the exact same things are available now, the only difference is that it's scam-proof.

Will I profit from Barrows with these stats and setup?

Then you're refering to safespots. Now those really are lame. -
Right click, select req assist, do whatever you needed to do.

Well considering he was (and probably still is) the easiest boss and that all the others are solo-able.....

Obviously if you help somebody, you can't do stuff yourself, otherwise it would be too easy to help people AND use the skills yourself. Previously, if you were doing something to help somebody out, you could not do something else at the same time, this is no different. Besides, it makes perfect sense with logic. You help someone out and during that time, you cannot do something else yourself. It sounds to me like you were planning to use this system to do something for experience AND assist a friend just to get even more experience.

What do you think of this review on IGN?
Solidus_77 replied to SportsGuy's topic in General Discussion
Interesting article, but the ratings bother me. Agreed here, despite the overused medival theme, it's the ideal theme for an MMORPG. Besides, rs offers more that. Strongly disagreed here. It's primitive however it's all in sync. I'd rate the graphics of runescape above that of a game that tries to have good graphics but is full of ridiculous things (like helmets floating next to the head or crap like that) That aspect is good, but I think the music is overrated in terms of quality. Even if it presents each theme of the area well. Strongly disagree here as well. There are plenty of MMOs out there that just have you click to use functions. The only difference with runescape is that you click where you want to go instead of using the arrow keys. Simplicity also has it's advantages as I can multi-task while I play. This is totally biased and obviously reflects a bad experience that the person had. -
This update seems pretty much pointless then. For an anti-scam update, they could have done something better. People rarely got scammed by any means of this. That's a baseless assumption. The scams with construction items got to a point where it became illegal to offer high-level construction services via trust-trade.

and he was lucky to find someone with the woodcutting level to stand around and do nothing. That scenario is the EXACT equivalent to someone cutting magic logs and giving them to a friend.
-
But they aren't being ripped off of anything. Smithers, runecrafters, constructors have all been overing their skills to friends for ages. The only difference is that now it's done without a trust-trade. Notice that NOTHING has changed. There is, therefore, nobody who is being cheated out of their skills.
-
Do you really think someone is going to stand next to you for hours while you just use their 99 skill? That's just as if they were mining/wcing for you and then giving you the ores/logs. Also, why 99 skill? is 85 mining not good enough for you?
-
Just learn to adjust to change. Why do so many people complain about an OPTIONAL feature for any other reason except that they can't get use to change even if it doesn't affect them?
-
Also, the idea of releasing an update on the basis of "sound's cool" is just a waste of time.
-
Still looks pretty similar IMO
-
Well obviously you have no clue how the system works
-
They specifically made many limitations to stop people from borrowing skills like that.
-
can't assist with trees
-
That's completely false, there aren't any more auto-buyers because they are unable to make a profit.
-
This is all assuming that, before the update, it wasn't possible to get the benefits of these skills. That isn't the case at all. Plenty of 99 smiths, constructors or crafters would use their skills to help other people, but it was done through trading. That was trust trading, and obviously people abused it and so what did jagex do? They created a system that gives the EXACT same results with only one difference: you don't need to trust the person with an item. So now I can offer/receive services without the whole "trust issue" If you plan on using another person's skills to cut mage trees or mine, that's equivalent to them cutting the trees and giving you the logs. They have to remain motionless with an inventory open while you cut the trees. The farming assist is as if you gave a friend seeds and promised to get some crops in return. Basically, nothing new can be exploited now, and no skills have been rendered useless which is the majority of people's concerns.
