rate the quests i have completed
Solidus_77 replied to Dizzle229's topic in Achievements (Drops, Bank Pictures and Levels)
Now there's some things you need to know. First of all, you are the one who asked us to rate you. Just because you didn't hear what you expected from us does not give you the right to insult. Second of all, our rating are based on how impressed we are with the achievement. Look around you and you'll see that your achievement is very small compared to some of the huge goals. The quests you have done and the rewards you got have been obtained by many. Who's going to look at you in awe if everyone has done what you did? Third, you've only given us a list of quests. The only thing that can be rated is how "impressive" it is to do those quest (and it's really not very impressive). Had you specified at what levels you did the quest we would rate you based on how hard it is to complete those quests at that level. That alone would get you a better rating assuming you did the quests at an unusually low level. Finally, don't insult people by saying they no life. That's just guaranteed to get people to dislike you. Nobody was flaming you either. They were just criticizing your achievement; flaming is more of a personal attack, like claiming someone has no life. Also, the way you presented your achievement is rather bland. People like pictures so giving them something to look at is a good way to get people interested. -
If you understand the price is based on supply and demand you will understand why there is no use ranting about what the price is and what you think the price should be. You claim the price was somehow artificially created by some people. That's complete nonsense. If the cowhides were overpriced, then people would not buy them at 100. However, people are willing to buy them at 100 therefore we must conclude that it is the current price. You must recognize that 100 gp for you, is not the same as 100 gp for someone else. You might think that the price is too high, however the price is only too high for someone like you. This whole idea about how the buyers were lead to buy cowhides for 100 gp because someone boasted about buying them for that much is completely ridiculous. The price would not have changed because of that. First off, you are assuming that the price was lower before this "incident". The assumption is totally based on how you claim that "cow hides are too easy to get". That is not enough to conclude that the price is "too high" or "too low" because the price is not solely based on how easy it is to get Second, cowhides are not as easy to get as you claim. You neglect the time it takes to bank the hides. Also, they must be collected one at a time. Third, for a lot of people, 100 gp per hide is NOT a lot. This fact demonstrates that not everyone will have the same opinion on what's expensive and what isn't. For every market of a good, there are people who would buy the good only if it falls below a certain price and when the price is high, they don't buy it while others don't mind and would even buy it if, say, the price doubled. Your perception of the market of cowhides is your own personal opinion and you need to include everyone's views to get a better idea of what's happening. Fourth, the price of 100 gp could simply be based on the fact that cowhides offer an excellent way to train crafting. This is the main determinant of demand in this case. If you increase/decrease the exp you increase/decrease the incentive to buy the cowhides (aka the demand of the cowhides). At that point, by law of demand, price will increase. This shows that the price can increase despite how easy it is to obtain cowhides. Finally, an obvious solution to this problem in your case is to simply get the cowhides yourselves (and probably even make this your income, since you think they are worth so much and easy to get). But of course you can't because you want to be a lvl 3 skiller? Well that's a non-mandatory limitation that you have imposed on yourself. If you can't get a decent income then don't impose that kind of silly limitation. Also, the feathers are much easier to obtain. Like I said, you can't compare feathers to cowhides and expect 1 feather to have the same price as 1 cowhide.

Clearly they're a bunch of idiots. IMO the saddest part is how he says like "oh he's got a girlfriend and you dont".
-
Price is determined by supply and demand. Not how easy something is to get. Something that's easy to get is not guaranteed to be low priced. Hence why you can't compare chickens and cows.

75+ In All Stats @ 114 Combat.
Solidus_77 replied to Mazurizi's topic in Achievements (Drops, Bank Pictures and Levels)
what does "gf" supposed mean in this context? -
Like it or not, a lot more people's incomes' rely on those member runes therefore the price is adjusted taking that factor into consideration. F2pers don't really runecraft nearly as much as members anyways.
-
kranked, that is an excellent explanation of how time taken to get cash is included in the total time taken to get the skill to 99. Very well said. =D>

Which Account Would You Choose?

you could probably get those levels again without too much difficulty. Also, if he has bunny ears then it's a huge plus. -
The Most Profitable Part Of The New Shop Update!
Solidus_77 replied to Jacks0n's topic in General Discussion
Nat prices rise and phat prices fall. That alone is awesome. Then I'll just get a couple of mills and buy 100k of every elemental rune. That's the greatest solution to a problem that has bothered me for ages! -
Scythe and bunny ears. Everything else like phats or high skills I can get with a lil effort but it pains me to know that, despite everything, I will never own those two rares. Ah well, that's life.
-
That's life. Well that's pretty much all there is to discuss and I think there's a sticky for these kinds of rants.

Construction.. the cheap way! all text re-warped!
Solidus_77 replied to Ryuuka's topic in General Guides
saving 17 million by spending tons of extra hours on construction is not worth it for someone who can make 60m. Besides, if you have a very hard time making cash for construction you shouldn't consider lvling it in the first place. All the high level stuff costs a lot too. -
syndrome445, as long as you understand I didn't state my approval or disapproval of shark prices. On a personal hope, I do hope the price of sharks goes back up even if I seldom fish them.

Castle Wars: Defense specialist. I've saved the team many times with my barricades. And of course been called "noob" constantly, so obviously I'm doing something right. Barbarian Assault Any, although I like Healer or Collector Trouble Brewing Flower gatherer and/or bitternut collector Pest Control Blue portal attacker. I am shocked at the number of people who haven't played trouble brewing!

Theres cats as pets on rs so why not dog pets in rs?
Solidus_77 replied to alstrom123's topic in Rants
The cats are quest related. If they give dogs as pets just because they have cats, they would also have to do so for every other animal. Eventually ending up with the infamous horses -
First of all, I don't think you have enough information to accuse Jagex of not "cracking down on bots". Since we know nothing of how their companies work, you cannot assume that there is no special task for dedicated to bots. It could be that, given the sheer magnitude of the problem, the task force simply can't ban them as fast as other games can. (remember runescape is a lot easier to sign up for and has more updates than your average MMO) Second of all, why is everyone critisizing them now of all times!? After they have just created an update that, not only destroyed the current shop autobuyers but also makes it literally IMPOSSIBLE for the problem of autobuyers to ever occur again. It simply cannot be done! This is a fantastic push forwards and you guys are acting like they have been slacking off. Seems the common argument is "oh well the bots can just become yew cutters". That's just speculation! Assumptions that haven't clearly evaluated the problem at hand. There is a huge difference between autobuying bots and autominers or auto yew cutters. Autobuyers are pure trash accounts. They require NO skill levels and therefore are extremely expendable. If one gets banned, another can come in take it's place in a ridiculously short amount of time, thus banning them is near impossible. The bots cannot just switch between illegal activities at their leisure, they must spend hours upon end training and a more complicated software obviously. Therefore this shows that the autobuying bots caused the greatest threats and also were the hardest to get rid of. What has jagex done? Eliminated the problem altogether. Eliminated a large portion of bots and therefore now they can tackle the other forms of bots. That forces bots to perform a task that has a skill requirement which is similar to what you said about the magic level. However, this caused the same effect and also had another advantage. In our view, buying from shops was just expensive and time consuming. They didn't want shops to perform that role, they wanted shops to provide enough goods but at a high price. This is exactly what the update accomplishes. There are, of course, people who stood around in shops buying the stocks just like autoers and making a profit. They are the ones sacrificed in this situation however the skillers have benefited from this update AND the autobuyers no longer exist. Those two benefits greatly outweigh the cost. I don't like when people openly criticize or accuse others. However I despise it when people unjustly criticize or accuse others. You claim that Jagex only care about money and not about their players? Completely untrue, they care about both. If they are willing to sacrifice their players, then why do they eliminate bots that have membership? (They have been seen to do so, this was discussed in a TET article). Doesn't that effectively prove that they are willing to cut back a bit on their revenue for the sake of banning bots? This recent update was targeting all bots, member or non-member as well. Furthermore, these "crackdowns" on bots have the effect of raising the price of, say, sharks when it's a fishing bot crackdown. With basic economics we can tell that this is due to fewer sharks being produced because there are fewer bots and since sharks are members-only, all those bots banned had membership. Therefore, Jagex does not let the bots that pay membership get away with it either which proves your claim wrong again. Also, did you really assume that these "crackdowns" are the only times they ban bots? They are even attacking the problem from the other end, banning players who purchase the items which is also very effective at dealing with the problem. Your other accusations about customer service are just biased. I guess that's normal because you can only see one side of the problem: the side that concerns you. You do NOT see all the possible thousands of reports that they get on a daily basis so you just assume that they don't take care of their customer service. Having talked to a J mod ingame, I know that's your claim is a load of crap because he informed me of his job which was dealing exclusively with customer support. Which shows that they do keep up with customer support.

For songs. A TON of random songs. The only complete album would be Wintersun For movies: Hot rod Rush Hour 3 Battle Royal *excellent movie* Chuck & Larry Superbad Fantastic 4 (silver surfer) And for tv series: Season 5 & 6 of 24 ALL seasons (1 to 6) of the Sopranos Various episodes of the simpsons And various videos on youtube. When i'm skilling in rs, I am either watching a movie/episode or waiting for it to load. (I watched most of the above while abyssal rcing)

All this shows is that there is no equal bot problem in each game. It varies tremendously. A couple of years ago, bots were not a serious problem, it's only lately that they have plagued the game. Other games might not have bot problems simply because they are too complex to bot or people don't buy the currency for that game at a high enough price. Not only the game type and the timeframe vary, but even a player's experience with bots will differ from the next. I myself didn't bother buying things from shops, or cutting yews etc.. so the bots had already taken over our base by the time i even heard that they were that big a deal. Therefore, there would have been a time in runescape where yew bots were an infestation, and if someone asked me if there was a bot problem I would have replied "not really".

Rate my inventory!!
Solidus_77 replied to badawe's topic in Achievements (Drops, Bank Pictures and Levels)
Well that settles it. Wonder why the first one looked fuzzier. Well, doesn't matter as it's clear this is real. So what did you use to get this? merchanting? It's really quite amazing. Also, are you using the steel bars for 99 smithing? -
^ spot on! 8-) Even at the base level (44), you can make over 200k per hour though the abyss. At 75, you can make 450k per hour and at 91 you can make about 1 mill per hour. Get this: these figures INCLUDE the price of pure ess. These figures are all approximate however there is a much smaller degree of uncertainty compared to merchanting/staking. Those methods have huge possibilities (many, many millions) however they are very irregular. There is only one risk: getting pked. The cost of that is 60k (if you only wear your glory + untradables like I do). And if you drop your pouches you can be up and running again in less than 5 mins.

Which deserves more leveling credit? F2P or P2P?

First one is soooo true, the second one, not always. -
Just a small level

very neat! what's the hourly exp at ape atoll? -
Whenever I am not skilling/questing/minigame-ing It's an incredibly fun aspect of this game and you meet some neat people. GoF for the win.

Its a patently false assumption. However because of the 'no naming, names' rule for this site, not one that can be easily proven. I guess the easiest way of proving it to oneself is sending in a report via the customer service portal, with the names of suspected rule breakers and the reasons why, then see if the accounts get knocked off the high scores. Even then, you can't prove that they aren't already trying to ban people who have been already reported as suspect. We, the players, only see the people who don't get banned (meaning that we don't see the long list of people who do get banned). We occasionally get a number of people who get banned after a while, but apparently some people still accuse them of negligence without any sort of proof. IMO, Jagex is innocent until proven guilty however, the existence of bots does not mean nothing is being done. That is a terrible assumptions. Now about the rant in general: One of the key points in this rant is about how changing the stores is just an illusion and doesn't help against bots. That's totally wrong. If you look at auto-buying bots, they are incredibly simple to make and require no leveling. Just think of how hard it is to ban them at a faster rate than they are produced. Then, this update has made all autobuyers completely useless, effectively surpressing a problem that was extremely hard to enforce by simply banning. Furthermore, it implimented the "buy x", a very demanded option and changed stores to how they were originally supposed to work (this is explained in the development diary). The rest of the rant is a bunch of solutions that end up creating more problems, unwillingness to accept the current solution and some general crap about how bad the community is (which is a known fact around here). Very poor rant, I am utterly unimpressed
