I really don't understand when people say they hate farming "because all you do is wait". What are you? idiots? Go do something else, VERY little effort involved (bashing it for being slow or long is at least justified) Most aggrevating to train, well there's not just one skill the stands out Pyramid plunder is a pain to train, because of those stupid 4 doors. Somehow I always manage to pick the wrong one. And traps falling over or worse: disappearing for hunter is quite tedious.
-
a few months ago I would have said slayer but it's not such a bad skill after all. farming and herblore, despite being my worst skills, are not my least favorite. I think I'll go with hunter. It's simply not an interesting skill to train, for me anyways. For those bashing rc, you don't realize that it's the best monyemaking skill. For those bashing farming, you don't realize that you can train OTHER THINGS while your plants grow

Abyssal rcing 20k nats. I need cash to raise prayer and buy a couple of items so that I can DK more effectively as well as get some extra supplies. ever considered monkfish? They are faster than lobs and give more exp than sharks. You fish them after completing swan song

Has there even been a completed Runescape storyline?
Solidus_77 replied to The Real ET's topic in General Discussion
only thing about RS that is better then WOW so true. A lot of people like storylines and quests with plenty of funny elements. Like teasing us by showing dragon armor, the wise old man's phat etc... Or references to popular culture like Cold War. You are seriously missing out if you skip all of this. Don't you care about why you're going to fight a demon? don't you care about what happens after devious minds? lots of little things that make quests enjoyable like Ichlian's little helper where most of the quest is played as a flashback and it starts with you not knowing where you are. -
You. Do you change your passion for glory? =(
Solidus_77 replied to Quinton595's topic in General Discussion
first, my house is my passion so I haven't had to drop one for the other. Second, I wear what's effective most of the times Third, I don't go for a skillcape only for glory, I need other reasons (Hence why I don't bother with fletching/cooking). I love construction so that was another reason to go for it. -
Have YOU noticed anything unfair about Runescape?
Solidus_77 replied to Quinton595's topic in General Discussion
but "unfair" is totally arbitrary. Lots of people will disagree over what's fair and what's not. -

I thought plague city series ended with the discovery of that light tower and the alter that hid inside. But if we are in for visiting that huge elven crystal palace I'm going to love it. that place has remained unchanged from before I ever started this game (I actually started around the time Regicide was created I think) -
Well done finding a loophole like that =D>  That's hilarious!

Development Diaries! A new branch on the jagex tree
Solidus_77 replied to Ryuuka's topic in General Discussion
I hope these new development diaries help more players understand how difficult it is to implement an update into the game. I am pleased they released these, it will be fun to read them. :D Very true, especially when you look at the barbaric rants acusing Jagex of all sorts of things. This disproves a bunch of theories/myths: - Jagex neglects rangers This dark bow has been in the making since last year so clearly they don't neglect them. - Jagex doesn't care about higher lvls Mentioned a bunch of times how hard it is to get the perfect balance for higher levels. Then there's the time it takes as well which proves they do care about higher lvls but haven't displayed the fruits of their labor yet - Jagex doesn't test their updates (or various accusations about how they don't think before they update) They've got a special team that does that for weeks - Jagex doesn't listen to player's suggestions Clearly they take some consideration but it's important to notice how long it takes for them to make the update. So, given the time frame, even the good ideas can take a long time to get implemented. -
Question: Least-Admirable Skill Cape
Solidus_77 replied to Lunar_Drifter's topic in General Discussion
Horrible explanation. "You just do it" is far too vague it can be said about anything. "slayer is easy, you just do some tasks from the best slayer master for a while and you get 99" Or you could say "you just go and train on monsters till you get a 99". Afk training is not allowed, and if they get attacked by a random event they will not always make it out alive. (ring of life doesn't always help) -
Does Jagex make Animal abuse look positive?
Solidus_77 replied to WookieeMania12's topic in General Discussion
We've already got a minigame and a quest the aim is to slaughter as many rats as possible. The dog issue is just icing on a cake IMO, but that's because I'm biased in favor of rats. -
Is Jagex doing SOMETHING about the autoing problem? 600+
Solidus_77 replied to WookieeMania12's topic in General Discussion
Not only they ban macroers but they ban the buyers too. Less people have the incentive to buy rs gp from real world money which is the same as saying the demand for rs gp falls. So less money means a big dent in the profits for macroers. Good thing. The idea I think is to get to the point where these underground sweatshops are better off polluting another MMORPG. I havn't looked at the current "exchange rate" so to speak of gp to $ (partly out of fear) but it would be interesting to know if the price of gp is going down and the rate at which it goes down. That's not racism, you're misinterpreting their accusations. Racism would be "all Asians playing runescape are macroers" because it would have to target all Asians which isn't anywhere near what they said. In fact, they didn't even say "Chinese are causing the problem" they say "Chinese underground sweatshops are causing the problem". They are accusing a specific group of Chinese people which, I assume, you are not part of. So they are not all Chinese people, let alone all Asian people so therefore there's nothing to be offended of. -
Why Macros are HELPING the RS economy...
Solidus_77 replied to flamingo5555555's topic in General Discussion
as rebdragon said, stop comparing the real world to runescape! I've had it with the stupid logic of "inflation caused bad things in germany and caused the great depression and we have inflation therefore we will have a great depression in runescape !1111!!!" Those theories about inflation all assume that the causes and effects are EXACTLY the same, which obviously they are not, there are so many differences between runescape and the real world In runescape, even the basic infrastructure is totally different. There is no cost for living, all our capital doesn't depreciate (very few exceptions, special cases), land is infinite and free, most resources are infinitely replenishing (but they are still scare and therefore they are economic goods), there are no taxes, there are no bank loans, no interest rates and also, there are no monopolies controlled by individual players! It's a world of monopolistic competition where there are few barriers to entry that can be achieved by ANYONE with the only exception being membership. These factors are pretty much the exact opposite in the real world, there is a cost for living, capital does depreciate, land is a factor of production, most resources have a limited stock which influences the supply of such resources (not the case for runescape, the only thing that influences those are updates like more efficient methods). One extremely relevant and important difference is how money flows in and out of the economy, known as leakages (what people tend to call "money sinks") and injections which can be such things as government spending, taxes, imports, exports all of which are non existent in runescape and there are specific ways to deal with price instability (like, inflation or deflation). In the real world, this is the role of the central bank who lowers or raises interest rates to deal with the current situation. The way this works is that with lower interest rates, for example, people borrow more money and more money goes into the economy so prices rise. There are advantages to such situations because if companies borrow more money they can hire more workers. There's much more to say about that such as government interventions, as well as different types of inflation, but this is just to show how the real world works with price stability. In runescape, things are very different: no borrowing is taking place and the leakages and injections are totally different! No government spending, no investment, no exports or imports. So it's clear that if one of the injections caused inflation in the real world, it probably will not be the same causes as inflation in runescape which is partly why the logic of comparing runescape to the real world doesn't work. That part was concerning the cause, so the other part concerns the effects, which are different. You know the great depression? It was caused by the stock market and companies that started laying people off. This is significant because it lead to a vicious cycle. Specifically what I am interested at looking at is the effects: Companies couldn't hire people so tons and tons of unemployment! Heard some of the crackpot theories about the so called "runescape depression"? This is what effectively proves them wrong: There are no companies in runescape. In fact the whole basis of production is different. In the real world, you can't just start making chairs or whatever random good. You need to get employed at a company because it's the company that provides the land, the machinery to make your random goods (which is known as capital) in fact the whole system, enterprise, is a factor of production. This is not the case in runescape. Because of runescape's nature and the fact that it's an MMORPG, enterprises are almost non-existent, because they are not needed and same goes for the other factor of production land. Capital is essentially the efficient methods for making money (like, abyssal pouches, which make you more efficient at production) and each and every person can have access to the same kind of capital. This is very different from working at a company because there is no need to get hired. So you cannot have the same effects as the great depressions because, in runescape, there are no companies so nobody can fire you, and if your job becomes too unprofitable you can easily switch or even just stop all together since there is no "living cost" in runescape. So to conclude a bit, there are many differences between the real world and runescape so causes or effects of one society may not be the same for the next. Remember also, that Jagex has the supreme power of updates and if there is a problem they can find a solution much faster than a government can use their economic policies. So it's ridiculous to say that there will be dramatic changes in runescape's economy just because the real world economy looked like it had some similar changes. -
Trouble Brewing? (Sabo, Bucketing and Popularity)
Solidus_77 replied to jondea0's topic in General Discussion
It gets old fast and your acts don't exactly go unnoticed. It's like trying to close the door when people are trying to go through or some minor annoyance like that. That also simply makes your team fail even more. Runescape = game Minigame = game Game = fun Sabotage = fun Game = fun Boohoo, I won't be able to buy an ugly piece of pirate clothing because I had fun? That's your opinion, others would disagree For me it goes having to rebuild = not fun delaying the perfect efficiency = not fun both teams getting less reward = not fun You'd seriously make the worst teammate since you're doing the game just to get pleasure out of seeing others get annoyed and not for the reward. not everyone can go at the same speed. The team with the most efficient strategy and the best teamwork will win. Imagine a game when one team is disorganized and everyone runs to get the same ingredient and another team where everyone already knows who gets what. The organized team will obviously get more rum than the other (even if there is no sabotage) sabotage is really a bad team's way of dragging the better team down with them, it's pitiful. The goal of the game is to produce as much rum as possible, not cause as much damage as possible and besides who even cares if there's a draw? It's impressive if you can make, say, 20 bottles of rum or something like that. There is competition, but both teams will go home with some PoE no matter what, so might as well make the most of it. -
How I lost my items - by scamming, dying and others
Solidus_77 replied to Forum_User's topic in Rants
I had a new one today, this random person starts pming me saying he needs my help to talk to a friend. So what is it he needs? Apparently he wants me to give him my password so he can get on my account and then pm his friend. Reported, then I screw around with him, trying to find a flaw in his story etc... untill eventually he logs off. (stuff like "I swear on my grave I won't take your items" wow, your grave is pretty worthless) I don't see what he would have gained from it besides screwing around with my account, it's not like he was going to take some items. -

Agreed on the popularity part and here too. I guess it's one of those "advanced" minigames. Like Barb assault, where you have to do a bit of thinking and a bit of teamwork in order to prevail but it can be a lot of fun. -

Hehe sure, I s'pose I can dig up a few: [hide] [/hide] A couple of those are pretty old. I keep probably 300+ pictures I've drawn on my "Photoshop" account on my computer (I have two -- one for art/music and one for games, lol), but I'm too lazy to hop over right now. Just grabbed the above pictures off an art website thing that I'm apart of. Maybe I'll find a few more later if you're interested :P wow, that's very nice, several different styles too. =D> -
good god, already 82? You didn't take long to pass me. =D>

Trouble Brewing? (Sabo, Bucketing and Popularity)
Solidus_77 replied to jondea0's topic in General Discussion
the silly thing about sabotaging is that it's a lose-lose situation. You spend time doing nothing but harm the other people. Say you are losing, you should NOT sabotage and instead make more rum because that way you will get that few extra points. If you do choose to sabotage in that situation you will not only annoy the other team but you will lose poe (more specifically, you will miss getting the PoE that you would have gotten if you spent time gathering stuff and not sabotaging) Buckets, there's not much to say, it's cheap and such a waste when everyone does it but it's good for securing points, it's ok if people want to do it JUST for that but seriously, help out after that! (People are more sympathetic it seems when doing trouble brewing, I don't know why) Popularity, why is this awesome minigame neglected? Well the main reason is not the rewards, because naval outfit is one of the most popular out fits in the game (from what I've seen) that you can get from a minigame. VERY stylish, hawt, etc... The reason why it's less popular is because people haven't a clue where it is. It took me some searching before I could find out where it was, and a lot of people don't go so far into the deep deep jungle of Mos'le Harmless except for doing cave horrors. Of course some better rewards could help but games necklace teleport to trouble brewing will help even more IMO *sigh* I last played that game in october, you know, reading this thread makes me nostalgic, I think I might go play it again just for fun :D -

Horrible idea, First of all, not much can happen in 30 days, it would be impossible to stay around as a pure f2per Second of all, the supply for many raw material goods such as yews are primarily f2p Third and most importantly, there are allready so many restrictions! They get, like 1% of the game, they will endlessly meet barriers because there are so few places they can go. Let them at least have the liberty of exploring that 1% to their heart's content (which, usually, doesn't last long) What would be interesting is a free membership trial (for a very short period of time, like 10 days or maybe even just a week), that would be available during ONLY a specific time. That would seriously persuade a lot of people to get membership since a lot of people will try "just for the hell of it" and get addicted". Only downside I can see for that is that members will suffer under the mass invasion and that's why it's important that this generous offer be available only during a set amount of time as opposed to everyone being given a "free 10 day membership trial" with each account to use whenever they please. It's not so much of a cost issue, more of a trust issue. It took me months before my parents were willing to pay for an online game, remember this is seen as a "waste of time" by some parents in this society (not all parents, and my compliments to the parents that do not) and so membership is seen as "bigger waste of time". It's going to take quite a few promises/good grades/effort to get parents to buy membership for an online game let alone get past the I-don't-want-to-trust-a-company-with-my-credit-card-number policy that many families have. That was my problem, and I'm pretty certain I'm not alone, seeing as we live in an age where parents are too old to understand video games and therefore some of them don't bother trying to see value in them. Some people can't get membership because their parents don't approve of the game, and that's the way it is.
