Official? ~ Ratchet & Clank ~ Jak & Daxter ~ Crash Bandicoot
Solidus_77 replied to RayOxide's topic in Off-Topic
The games are awsome! I've been loyal to these series for years. Excellent platform games, I am so glad I've discovered them. I started out with the first, then the second and then the third. All weapons, all skill points and all trophies EXCEPT ONE BLOODY SKILL POINT IN THE SECOND GAME!!!! Then played Gladiator single player, liked it a lot (it's a bit different from the other games) and then pulled an all-nighter with a friend to do it co-op which was just fun as hell. Funny jokes as well: "This update is strictly classified; if you are watching this, you're fired" "I'm sorry to interrupt you but it seems your impenetrable secret base on Aquatos has, um, been penetrated" Or that part explaining the history of a desert planet. They turned a jungle overrun by trees into a desert to "better accommodate the local wildlife" And finally, it's got beautiful scenery. Also, this game works sort of hand in hand with Jak & Daxter series (at least in the beginning) so you might want to consider giving those a try. The first one is pretty basic, but still a classic which came out when the PS2 was new. Two and Three mimic GTA's style (in a fantasy kind of way). You must see the older versions too, you might miss some of the newer functions but it's well worth the effort because the games are just as fun. You'll also notice that bolts are less valuable in later games (like, in the first game, 150k bolts could buy you the best weapon while in the third game the best weapon is 3 million bolts. -
whats the rarest item which isn't a rare???
Solidus_77 replied to mrmyk's topic in General Discussion
I don't see any proof of this there are already more then 250 or so... :| and that item is rare... rare, in this case, means discontinued. So we're looking for an item that would be a complete waste, to the point where nobody would have one or something nobody would bother having -
construction isn't a decent money making skill at all and investing in santas takes a long time to get any noticeable effects. For someone who claims to already have seen this topic I'm amazed you come up with such weak moneymaking skills (one of which isn't even a skill) Also, any particular reason why there are so many people DKing these days more so than in the past?

What house functions do you think are useful
Solidus_77 replied to samcowcow's topic in General Discussion
It use to be, until the invention of the enchanted sapphire bracelet. -
However they are ultimate rare and there's a real reason to use them: staking. Even slight advantage over the opponent will help in a long run and stakers who stake tens, maybe hundreds of millions at once won't hesitate to take the advantage. This means there will still be a huge demand for them in future, so I wouldn't be surprised if they acted like discontinued items for the next 9-15 months. Eventually they will get more stable and then start their slow going down, but with this supply and demand it won't be anytime in near future if Jagex doesn't give us new items to stake with. If they are being used for staking, there's no reason why they will only increase in price later. If they are used for staking, then the demand will already have increased. Also, don't say "acting like discontinued items" when all you mean is increase in price. It's incredibly misleading since the discontinued items and the third age items increase in price for completely different reasons.

Why Macros are HELPING the RS economy...
Solidus_77 replied to flamingo5555555's topic in General Discussion
1) you are kinda missing the point. i'm saying that they are helping lots of people (but not everyone) by producing these items 2) ironic that you have 99 fletching? i'm sure you bought your yews not from normal players (500 or 1000 at a time) but from macros or others (10,000+ at a time...) too bad no one can see the advantages of them... i think that many of you have predisposed against them... put that aside and look at some of the advantages.. also person-with-99-cons: depending on when you got it, you most likely bought planks from macros (they are really the only ones who make them these days) (search the forums for "selling oak planks" its horrible - "selling 100k oak planks 400 ea..." "selling 75k oak planks 380 ea..." First of all, we know that macroers have benefits to the customers, I've said that twice already, but they also harm the people who gather those materials, and somehow you can "accept" the fact that they are harming those people. That's just pathetic, no matter how many people the macroers please, it's still an unacceptable practice because of all the people they harm. Second of all, I see the advantages all right, and I use them, but unlike you, I also see the people they hurt. I see both sides. I am trying to show you how the macroers hurt people and every time your reply is "but look at the people they help". My response is still "but look at the people they hurt because I already see the people they help and I hold that to be self-evident. Oh, and when I got my 99 construction, it was more expensive. The buying was done mostly in January. -
whats the rarest item which isn't a rare???
Solidus_77 replied to mrmyk's topic in General Discussion
I don't see any proof of this -
an accurate observation, except that merchants don't inflate prices, those are price manipulators. The reason prices of discontinued items rise is not because of merchants. Merchants merely use the price range to their advantage, they offer a service and just because they sell for more than they buy doesn't mean that this inflates the prices at all. They are quite rare like phats, but the big difference with 3rd age is that 3rd age isn't discontinued, so the supply increase over time unlike the phats. Therefore, it's invalid to claim that they will act in the same way as discontinued items. Result of the Karamja achievement diary Did you just say "5M" at random? That's not a very accurate analysis. Again, did you come up with these prices at random or is there actually some logical explanation? That's one way to look at it, but new players are likely to go for those capes as well. I suppose you could expect all the thousands of cooking/fletching cape owners to try for something a bit more tricky, but would they necessarily go for a rare? or would they go for another skillcape? Wow, ignorance is bliss. First of all, stats alone do not determine use. Phats serve as a status symbol which, itself, creates a goal to strive for. This is a use. Second of all, just because you'd rather spend money on other things doesn't make you more jutified than others. It's quite selfish of you to think "they are not using their money to play the game because they are buying something that I think is useless". Third of all, this bragging that you speak of is the exact same reason for people going for a skillcape. In fact "bragging" is just showing one's achievements in this game, and this game is all about goals and achievements. Finally, you clearly didn't understand which rares this whole topic is about. This is about rare items which are not discontinued (except the santa hat, and that's such a minor thing) although I do think this a bit missleading. Also, we're discussing a possible rise in prices, not fall

Why Macros are HELPING the RS economy...
Solidus_77 replied to flamingo5555555's topic in General Discussion
I'm not saying that there are more skillers and thus more legitimate goods. I don't care how much illegal goods there are tbh, their existance is what's important. My point is that there are a lot of legit players who do these jobs and your claim of this macroers being "good" completely ignores them. Which I think is unfair, as for them the situation is not "good". It's short, probably more to say, but I'm tired and I've got exams tomorrow. I'll catch you later. -

The RS Poll: Are you a "lone ranger"?
Solidus_77 replied to Myweponsg00d's topic in General Discussion
Really depends on the circumstances. Usually I like to talk while skilling However what I find surprising is that 33% of the poll voters today said they never pk. That's higher than I would expect (compared to the "i don't skill" well not much else to do and the "I don't do quests", i must admit I expected more from that one) -
From BA, we know that putting guides in the right places isn't going to help because a lot of idiots don't bother reading important stuff, it's much easier for them to whine about it later IMO, it's the whole idea of farming being a different skill that requires some scheduling (A lot of idiots thought you had to blankly stare at potatoes for them to grow didn't even bother trying to logout and see what happens) and so they don't try it because they don't understand it. So if you want to dramatically increase the popularity you have to basically erase what makes farming so special. It's ok for farming to be unpopular, it adds some upper class distinction for people who have mastered the skill.

There's more than just total level How about best in each skill? Two of them I know off the top of my head that insane skiller thief who's done knights all the way for theiving. =D> someone ranked 2 or 3 construction is here apparently I think? =D> Anyone else know others? Then there's non-skill superlatives Best merchant I've heard is duke freedom, not surprisingly =D> Richest player? Oldest player? Best pker?

Why Macros are HELPING the RS economy...
Solidus_77 replied to flamingo5555555's topic in General Discussion
Most of that stuff is self-evident. The turning point is when you say it's a win win situation and then describe a biased view of how people make cash You claim the "noob" players are the ones to cut yews, etc....? so it's ok for them to be hurt because they haven't learned the most useful moneymaking techniques? That's just pathetic and arrogant and ignorant. There are far more people who produce those goods and a lot of them have been compromised, so much for your "good" situation. All the fishers, yew cutters etc.... They rely on this cash and these are not just average players. There's also runecrafters. Nature rune crafting is the best money skillers can get, the famed 1 mill per hour from 91 rc is sought after many. Well the "famed 1 mill per hour" is turning into the "legend of 1 mill per hour" because macros are making the price drop. Well done, major industries are being destroyed, this is really doing some good for the economy. The fact that you accept buying illegal production is however, normal. Because after all what do you care about where your goods came from? In the real world, there are lots of moral incentives to try and stop this, but here there are none, and who can resist wanting to get the goods at a cheaper price. However, this crosses the line when you claim that this does good to the economy. Good for whom? Only the customers. Not the people producing, and these are not, I repeat these are not the lower or average players. These are, in fact, most of us skillers. So clearly the winners are the people buying the goods, unless they have some very strong moral values that they refuse to buy goods that have been tampered by macroers. So is this good for the economy? Well that's a personal judgment of value The situation has changed, but has had pros and cons. Your claim that it is "good" shows a bias against the people who produce these goods , because if you are a customer the situation is "good". If you are the one producing these goods, the situation is "catastrophic" -
91 rc beats it. Woke up one morning, decided "I want guthans". By the evening I had it. Started off with, like, 1k or 2k ess too, so this includes the time to make nats to buy the ess and the time spent finding a seller for guthans (which was annoyingly long)

Rate Gold's Bank - May 17, 2007
Solidus_77 replied to Gold_Tiger10's topic in Achievements (Drops, Bank Pictures and Levels)
very nice bank. Wide array of useful items/armor. Bankspace must be your enemy. 9/10 because you're missing the cherry on the top: party hat. -
hey, that could be fun. so what is this teamspeak all about?

first of all, not all skillcapes have a gold trim second of all, trimmed skillcapes have two colors and untrimmed skillcapes have ONE COLOR ONLY. that skillcapes has TWO COLORS therefore it's completely impossible for it to be trimmed finally, the color of the shoulder part of the skillcape (trimmed or untrimmed) is the same color of the skillcape's trim and it's clear that the color on the shoulder parts of that skillcape is RED therefore the trim is obviously red Conclusion: It is absolutely 100% sure in every single way, shape and form, at any time at any place at any point in the universe that the slayer cape shown in that picture is trimmed now can we please stop coming up with "that red and black slayer cape is untrimmed". I'd say the rarest is iron dagger p++. Nobody is going to waste it on an iron dagger (people will, however, waste it on a bronze dagger for the sake of proving a point :XD: ) I own a bronze dagger p++ That's why I specifically said iron dagger. Because people are going to make bronze daggers to prove a point therefore the bronze dagger p++ isn't the rarest. -
Glad to see another person going for 99 con. I'm also doing exams so I'll only give two tips that I noticed first of all, don't do flatpacks, it's amazing how much time is wasted and you have to throw them all away each run. You'll want either oak larders or oak dungeon doors second of all, in response to this: Using the more efficient method, you'll notice it does take quite a bit longer (somewhere near twice as long perhaps?), but it's your call. I personally did like you are doing, having the butler unnote them. Also note that paying for your butler adds up quite fast. He asks for 10k every 8 actions.

we're talking about a SINGLE moneymaking skill. Dagganoth kings are insanely good and profitable, but you can't find a guaranteed hourly rate and they require a bunch of combat skills.

IMO, combat is disqualified along with slayer. Neither of them are moneymaking skills like the others because most of the money is luck-based so there's no way you can come up with an hourly rate. Runecrafting wins by a very large margin when comparing at just about any level.

It's a normal dial on Cisco networked phones. Regardless, it's obviously a hint at 24 just like the fact that everyone was using cellphones.
-
Then there was south park's parody of 24. That thing was funny, they even had CTU's dial tone spot on :XD:

Wow, you've invented a super powerful magnifying glass that can burn paper. Hehe I remember seeing it with mythbusters, that was a funny episode when they tried to do it with people each holding a mirror. Must have been pretty tricky getting all the mirrors to face the right spot
