  1. I started doing it with dharok's. If the Zammy spear is actually faster than this, I'm scared!
  2. So, I've gotten my first Black Dragon task since I've been able to use extreme anti-fire potions. Does anyone have any suggestions on what's the best weapon to use? I'm torn between a godsword, a Zammy spear on stab, and Dharok's. My guess is that Dharok's will murder them, but Dharok's doesn't have a stab option. I don't even know if the leather dragons have a weakness to stab, though, so this might not even be an issue.
  3. I think that you're probably looking for a way to get into the basement. If you don't fail the agility obstacle, all you need to do is pray at the altar and you'll fall down through the floor.
  4. These always used to give me a hard time when I first started doing Slayer. Try using Bones to Peaches tabs and you should probably be able to finish the task without banking.
  5. If you're 95 Slayer, then the only real reason that you're still training it is because you enjoy it. Spend the points on something you hate to train.
  6. While I was trying to get a d-pick drop, I managed to collect 22 hand cannons and about 6K of shot. At the time they were crashing so I couldn't sell, but recently the price for both has been going way up. Is there really any good use for them, or are they just being merched at the moment? I'd love to be able to use them to go on a killing spree, but I got really disappointing results on all the monsters that I tried to kill with them.
  7. Thanks a lot. I was wondering about this myself. I just have a sneaking suspicion that one of the next elite diaries is going to have "Mine some rune ore", and I need 5 more levels but can't stand mining.
  8. I never even thought of playing this game for XP considering how much effort it takes to catch each individual impling. Just the process of getting the jars takes a large percentage of the total hunting time. It also seems like they'd have to give an enormous amount of xp per impling to even make them even somewhat competitive with other methods. Like others have said, I just hope that they don't ruin a game that there really isn't anything wrong with.
  9. A few months ago I was in the exact same situation as you are now, and with nearly the exact same stats. I just got 99 Slayer off of 2 years of almost exclusive slaying and wasn't sure what to do next. I ended up 99'ing Summoning and Magic, and then ran out of things to do. I just aimlessly spent another few weeks slaying, and then I quit playing altogether. I still check in on the forums once in a while to see what's going on, but I'm completely burnt out and have no interest in playing anymore. The thought of grinding through any more mining or smithing levels is enough to make me sick. That probably doesn't help you much, but there you go.
  10. I obviously can't speak for everyone, but I personally hate them because they are usually too crowded. Even with only two people in the room I spend way too much time waiting for a respawn. I hope you have luck finding someone, but we don't all hate solo slaying. I prefer to go slaying by myself, and rather dislike it when people try to chat with me. Maybe it's because I'm usually reading forums at the same time, but I find "company" while slaying to be kind of annoying.
  11. Barrows items have rebounded a bit lately, but nowhere near what they were worth 3 years ago. I just checked and a Guthans set costs 4.5M today, but three years ago a warspear would have run 8M all by itself. Not to say that Barrows isn't worth doing, but there are certainly better options available today. For example, Avianses are a great way to make money and also get XP.
  12. Just minor tweaks... - Get rid of the staff, and bring the runes. It's not worth the hassle of shuffling them around. - Get boots with a range bonus. The Bandos boots are unnecessary. - Just my opinion, but unless you want to go completely crazy, do the clue scrolls when you get them (or at least once in a while) to give yourself a break. It takes less than a minute to get back there, and the scrolls are a great diversion.
  13. I was going to agree, but wasn't there some kind of farming mini-game that came out a little while ago? From what I can gather, you randomly click on dirt and get free farming XP. Never tried it myself, but from what I hear it's super awesome.
  14. I've been doing some cooking in the Rogues Den and I'm trying to find out if there is any way to lure Emerald Benedict so that he stands where I want him. He seems to stand in one place for a very long time, but sometimes he wanders pretty far away from the fire. I can get him to face me by just talking to him, but nothing I do will make him walk. I've tried banking from a few steps away, banking and walking away, and collecting GE items from a distance and walking away. Nothing worked, and I'm out of ideas. I've just been switching worlds if he's too far away, but I'd love it if I didn't have to. If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know.
  15. Let me ask you a few questions first.... Do you bury every regular bone from every kill because "xp is xp"? Do you pick up the 120gp drops during your tasks because "it all adds up"? Do you regularly have free space in your inventory that you need to fill? If you can answer yes, then picking up the golds is probably right for you. Like others said, it can't hurt. Personally, I'd say skip it.
  16. I guess that you have to keep in mind that nothing that you do is going to kill you. Over my Runescape life I've had much worse ideas than this. The good part is that you aren't locked in, and you can quit anytime you like. After 2k or 6k dragons you may realize that it's not that great an idea and move on to something else. Now, if you are actually looking for advice, here's what I've got... 1) Black dragons take a lot of time to kill. I'll bet that you can kill 4 avainses in the time it takes to kill one dragon. That will throw a wrench into your bones/hides vs. addy bars calculation. In the same amount of time you'll end up with tons more XP and GP at avainses. 2) It takes a lot less time to get to GWD that you think it does. Unless you don't have Trollheim teleport, the run there is pretty similar to the run to the Evil chicken's lair. Maybe a little longer, but only a matter of seconds. You can still do clues and farming just as easy. 3) If you really tend to OCD then hitting 0,0,0,0,15,0,0,0,8,0,0,0,0,0,0,5,0,0,0,0,0,0,0..... is going to drive you crazy!
  17. Dagannoth in the chaos tunnels also drop a surprisingly large amount of crims (at least I was surprised). They seemed to be at least as good as greaters. You have to pray range the whole time, but if you alch the drops it will more than pay for the potions. Pick up and sell the circular hides, boots, and gloves and you'll make a profit.
  18. He could bury bones in a graveyard, or set up barriers. He could get a full load of bandages and follow an Ancient mage around and heal them. He can run shards to the obelisk. He could help occupy the enemy graveyard. There are plenty of productive things that he could do.
  19. I don't have the exact formula, but I've got one that's close enough to do some calculations. Someone else can check my math. To get Slayer to 99 from 30, you'll need around 13,700 zeal. This means that you'd have to play Soul Wars about 8.5 hours per day, winning every game, to get to 99 in 6 months. Sounds like a lot, but certainly within the realm of possibility. Keep in mind that these are only rough calculations. I also didn't include the bonus for cashing in 100 at a time, which would only make it take less time.
  20. Whenever I see anyone make a post with the words "double natures" I want to reach out and strangle them. Nobody who has (or is within 500 hours of getting) the required level needs to be told about it, or would even need to ask about how to make money. Maybe I'm too sensitive about it, but what exactly was the point of even bringing it up?
  21. Really, huh. You think that double natures is a reliable way for someone who is unranked in runecrafting to raise a quick 120K? I'm guessing that someone who's just been hacked doesn't have a lot of armor sitting around in their bank suitable for a godwars trip either. How about collect a few loads of blue dragon scales, potato cactus, or snape grass. They'll all get you your 120k pretty quickly.
  22. Me too, but not from the KQ! I need one from the Abyssal Demons. ;)
  23. Maybe marginally better, but it's been my experience that it isn't worth the effort. I can almost always find a better use for a BOB or a healing familiar. That's just my style of play, though. I put more value on convenience rather than shaving off a few minutes per task. edit... I just noticed that you don't have maxed combat stats. Maybe the combat familiars work better for you when you have a lower combat level. I'll trust your judgement on that one.
  24. With 127 combat (and only 36 summoning) you should be able to kill them pretty easily. I probably have slightly better stats than you, and I can kill them without using prayer at all. The only problem you might have is if you have a really low magic level. You are going to have a bit of trouble since you don't have a Bunyip, so 45 kills per trip isn't that bad. It only takes a minute or so to bank and come back, so that isn't a really big problem either. Just wear Karils, bring a crush weapon, and pray range. You'll be done in no time.
  25. Here's what I did... 1) Blues Moss Titans. It was around 92 that I realized that those O-So-Valuable blue charms that I've been saving all along weren't really all that good for anything. Anything that you'd actually want to use that's made from a blue charm you can buy on the GE cheaper than making it. I made them into Moss Titans and traded the pouches back for shards. The extra XP from Geysers won't mean anything in the long run. Save your money for shards. 2) Greens Nothing is really good for Greens. I decided to clean out my inventory of the raw sharks that I'd been accumulating and make mine into Bunyips. I chose Bunyips because I knew that I'd use them, and they were often hard to buy. Unicorns are expensive to make, and easy to buy on the GE if you ever need them. I never even thought of fruit bats. 3) Golds Once again, gold charms aren't much use when you're at 92 Summoning. I made mine into Terrorbirds because the seconds were so cheap. I've got like 8K of them sitting in my bank now. I use them as disposable BOBs when I need one for a few minutes. Again, the 19xp extra from Barker toads is going to be meaningless to you in the long run. 4) Crimsons Swamp titans, then Iron titans, then Pack Yaks. Wolpertingers are a pain in the neck. The seconds are hard to buy and they take twice as long to pouch. In the end you'll save something like 100 crims worth of XP, but lose 1-2 hours of pouching time. If you are considering keeping on going to Iron titans, start buying the platebodies right away. It may have been fixed, but when I did it the platebodies were still considered "armor" and you could only buy 100 of them every 4 hours. I know that the swamp lizards (weapons!) had the same problem, but they got fixed a while back. A side answer: All of the combat familiars are pretty useless for slayer tasks. Even the Steel titan is only good under really specific circumstances (Black Demons, or KBD for Black Dragon task). Usually it takes so long for them to enter combat that I've already killed whatever I was fighting. I'd rather bring a Bunyip and basically AFK the tasks rather than have to focus on eating and constantly calling the familiar to get it fighting.
