  1. What is the best setup for Mithril Dragons? Where's the best place to kill Cave Horrors? How do you most efficiently kill Mighty Banshees? For my task should I bring a combat familiar or BOB? Should I cannon or melee? Pray or tank? What assignments give the best drops, the most charms, the highest XP? There is a lot more to Slayer than clicking and waiting.
  2. Two things. I actually got 99 Slayer at the end of January this year, and looking back on it 85 was really pretty easy. At the time though, it really didn't seem like it. Slayer gets easier as you do it because you learn all of the tricks and methods. For those first 85 levels your really just learning how to get things done. Also, anyone who says that they can melee 100K slayer XP in 3 or 4 hours is kidding themselves. That would be the equivalent of 100-120K melee XP per hour. Now I realize that melee XP of that type can be gotten if you are powertraining, but I just dare you to do it at Gargoyles or Steel Dragons. XP per hour for slayer is pretty meaningless anyway. I can get around 40K xp in 20 minutes cannoning Mutated Bloodveld, but that doesn't translate into 120K per hour, because I never get an hours worth of them. The next task is just as likely to be super slow.
  3. I think that you're being way too literal. I'm sure that by "personal question" he wasn't suggesting that he ask for the person's phone number. He obviously meant that he should ask a "personalized" question, meaning one that a bot would have a hard time answering. Back to the question, I wouldn't worry too much if it's an auto bot, as those are generally harmless. What would have me scared is if it's a Decepticon! Those are dangerous!
  4. It's a good spot to go to on your first time there, but it is certainly not the best spot. Once you get used to killing them (and get sick of fighting off all of the competition) you might want to explore the caves a bit more. There are several better spots to be had, and they are all virtually abandoned. I like a spot that's to the extreme northeast. It has three that spawn in a tight circle, and four more that are really close by. It takes an additional 30 seconds to run there, but you finish the task in 2/3 the time.
  5. Soul wars is a very bad way to judge armor. Those "hard to hit" bandos wearers probably also have 99 def, and may be praying piety at the same time (I know that I do). (I know that you don't want to hear it, but Barrows armor is the way to go. No question about it.) Don't count on it. I killed nearly 10K Black dragons, and no visage. The visage is extremely rare.
  6. It's not hard to say. They stop attacking at double their level + 1, so since they are level 63 they will stop attacking when you reach 127. He's 125, so they'll still attack. Even aside from the dogs, I hate the long walk through the dungeon and the fact that you need money and an axe to get to them.
  7. All good advice, except they don't have a long range fire attack. There are many, many places in Brimhaven to safespot them if you want to range. I prefer to kill them in the wilderness. It's quicker to get to (canoe), and there aren't any dogs. Also, I've killed a few hundred of them there, and never seen a rev. I haven't found a good way to get out beside running back to L20 and teleporting. I haven't checked, but I'll bet there is a portal somewhere nearby that you could use Jennica's ring on. I was never was motivated enough to find out for sure, though.
  8. This kind of thing happens to almost all people who try merchanting, so don't let it bug you too much. Merchanting involves a certain amount of risk. You can make a ton of money doing it, but you can also lose. The best thing to do is shake it off, try to sell them, and start again with something else. Don't let it scare you! Count that 2 mill loss as a learning experience and move on. In the long run you'll make it back many times over.
  9. I'll agree that complainers can get on your nerves after a while. But you know what's worse? People who complain about the complainers. Jagex has made some pretty boneheaded decisions in the past, and rightly deserves to be taken to task for them. Once in a while they'll even admit that they were wrong and change their position just because people "complained". I know that it's very popular to bust on the United States, but this is just ridiculous. I'll place the economy of the United States (even in its current condition) over ANY country that has strict restrictions on its economy. It's really a no-brainer that more restriction does way more to kill an economy than more freedom.
  10. I play pretty relaxed so I don't have any scientific numbers to back me up, but I've found that the Zammy Spear and any godsword are roughly equal in charms per hour, and a Sara Sword gives me around 7 more per hour. I've gotten just about 7k charms there since the end of January, and my setup has been to take the Sara Sword to fight and also take the Enhanced Excalibur for the special. Even if you do go with the Zammy Spear, remember to take Excalibur. Those extra 20hp have gotten me through many dry patches when the Waterfiends were holding out on me with the fish drops.
  11. This is assuming that the "update" isn't a great way to train prayer without using bones, or a new type of bone that gives more XP.
  12. Paw_Claw, a little bit of advice. When you find yourself in a hole, it's probably best to stop digging.
  13. I don't think that Yanille is quicker than Varrock, but it is a lot quieter if you don't want to constantly hear, "Smithing lvl?" and "What you making?" the entire time you're there. Port Phasmatys and (especially) Neitiznot have very nice forges, but sadly neither has an anvil.
  14. Absolutely. The number one most important thing is to pick something that you enjoy doing. I just don't want to mislead him, though. You can probably get 5 skillcapes in the time it takes to get Runecrafting. Crafting would be a excellent choice, but it's just not the most useful cape out there. I've got 92 Crafting and 99 Thieving, and from a practical point of view I can tell you that I've never actually USED my Crafting level to do anything. I originally wanted the level to be able to make Furies, but that's pointless now. On the other hand, I use Thieving on a pretty regular basis. I can tell you that it's pretty fun to 99-Thieving the heck out of everybody in Stealing creatiion. You are also right about Crafting being more AFK-able. Thieving involves a lot of clicking. He does have 99 Firemaking, so that's probably not as big an issue for him.
  15. I'll agree that Runecrafting is a really nice cape, but it is certainly not "speedy" at any level. I'm going to suggest Thieving. It's pretty easy to get, but is still rarely seen, so it has a bit of a "wow" factor that you don't get from something like Cooking. It's also cheap to get, and unlocks some pretty nifty features as you get the skill higher. And besides all that, I think that it's a pretty nice looking cape. My second choice would be Crafting. Once again, it's quick and pretty rare, but it's also pretty expensive and I personally don't think that it looks all that great.
  16. I tried the roach soldiers yesterday after I read this, and didn't do nearly as good as people are saying. I was killing them almost twice as fast as I can kill Waterfiends, but I got about 1/4 the charms that the Waterfiends give me per hour. Now, the law rune drops were great, and the rune scims and square shields made me a fair chunk of GP, but for charms I'm going to stick with Waterfiends.
  17. This may be a silly question, but when the rocks "disappear" do you notice if you get the iron in your inventory? Sometimes I can kind of "zero-hit" an iron rock and get the iron without my character doing any of the mining animation.
  18. sadism (noun) - perversion in which gratification is obtained by the infliction of physical or mental pain on others
  19. Cows near gnomecopters are the quickest. Buy buckets of water from the gnome and empty them, milk the cow, and deposit in the drop box.
  20. While it may be a hint (and I'd love to see the hitpoints bar updated) keep in mind that the picture isn't really a screen capture from the game. For example, if you look a Jad's front foot you can see that one of his toes has the lava on top of it, one toe has the lava underneath it, and one toe pokes through the lava and out the other side. The whole thing is most likely just something that an artist threw together, so I wouldn't put too much faith in anything that you see there.
  21. I understand the point that you are trying to make, but it doesn't make sense to make Granite Lobsters till 99. Once you can make Swamp Titans, the extra cost in shards makes lobsters more expensive even if you got the granite free. Now, if your theory is correct, then granite may be a good item to speculate on because the prices would be going up once the current glut is depleted. But, as everyone else has said, granite is easy to come by now so there probably won't ever be a shortage of granite again.
  22. By the way, Santa hats crashed because everyone knew months ahead of time that the Santa suits were being released. Loads of people stocked up on them and then when the event was released everyone dumped them at the same time.
  23. Even though I have a minor in Math, and understand probability much better than most, all of that "book learning" goes right out the window after you've just killed your 4000th Black Dragon and are desperately trying to convince yourself that you're "due". It was just around the 4000th kill that my mind finally overruled my heart and I had to admit that I have no better chance with my 4001'st drop than I did with my first. And with the karma thing... I have to admit that every time I bless a grave, or give someone a free law rune, somebody somewhere is keeping track and it will pay off in some unknowable way.
  24. People buy unstrung amulets to level magic using the lunar String Jewellery spell.
  25. Do you think the fact that before the trade restrictions, every single world was crawling with woodcutting bots might also have something to do with this?
