  1. Thanks. I was trying to avoid a situation where I would be basically doing the entire level by myself, and they would be standing around watching me. In truth, I'm not a really big fan of the skill so I really don't care much if I lose some XP because our levels aren't synced. I'm basically just doing it to help out my friend. As long as I'm not making it worse for them, I'm happy with the arrangement.
  2. I want to play Dungeoneering with a friend of mine. The problem is that our skill and combat levels are really different. I've got pretty high combat skills, and they have pretty high non combat skill levels. I've only played solo so far, so I've got a few questions about what's in store for us. 1) How are the monster difficulties calculated? If I'm level 137 and they are level 50, will we get really hard monsters based on my level or really easy ones based on theirs? 2) How is the XP calculated? I'm assuming that I'm going to be doing most (or maybe all) of the fighting. Will my partner get any dungeoneering XP out of the level at all, or does everyone on the team get the same XP? 3) I noticed that at the end of a floor, when your score is being tallied, there is a list of accomplishments of the right side of the screen (most melee damage, most deaths, etc). Does this have any impact on your score? 4) Will either of us lose out in this arrangement? Would one of us actually get better XP if we went solo instead?
  3. The Grand Exchange has been broken since late November 2007. Some of the time it's just more obvious.
  4. I haven't done it in a while, but I'm pretty sure I used to be able to one-hit monkeys on Karamja with a bone crossbow. Their bones are an extra .5 xp each, and there's a ton of them hanging around.
  5. This seems like a flaw in the design of the skill itself. Once you exhaust the resources on a level, there isn't much you can do but die or quit. Hopefully they'll give this kind of issue a bit of thought before Dungeoneering v2 comes out.
  6. They don't. Some skills make money, some skills cost money, and some skills waste money. More than anything else, this skill seems to just waste time.
  7. Sounds more like that emo guy Steve who works down in the Purchasing department at my company.
  8. If you kill 1000 chaos druids, that gives you 5K prayer XP. There's a reason people don't bother picking them up. Even so, just carrying the bone crusher on slayer tasks would give a steady (even if small) trickle of prayer experience, saving potentially millions on dragon bones in the long term. That 5k exp you got from killing the chaos druids alone saved 92k in dragon bones... Agreed. I mean, I'm killing thousands of monsters and just leaving the bones lying there, and I'm really too cheap to purchase the bones, so this is a good compromise. Yeah, I'll agree that it's better than nothing, but it's certainly not going to "speed up prayer massively". And I seriously doubt that the time you spent getting the 110K tokens will be offset by the benefit that you get from having it. I've been playing it a ton lately and I don't know if I even have 1K tokens yet. If it takes me a year (or several!) to get the Bonecrusher, I find that pretty hard to justify.

  10. Using your conditions, you'll get 20 herbs per run. 5 Ranarr seed = 5 x 33,500 = 167,500 20 Ranarr herbs = 20 x 9,157 = 183,140 Profit = 15,640 Avantoe seed = 5 x 4,915 = 24,575 20 Avantoe herbs = 20 x 5,699 = 113,980 Profit = 89,405 But, realistically you get about 6 herbs per seed, so... 5 Ranarr seed = 5 x 33,500 = 167,500 30 Ranarr herbs = 30 x 9,157 = 274,710 Profit = 107,210 Avantoe seed = 5 x 4,915 = 24,575 30 Avantoe herbs = 30 x 5,699 = 170,970 Profit = 146,395 Looks like Avantoe wins either way. All this is really dependent on the seed and herb prices at the time, so this could change.
  11. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the most out of prestige. What do you mean by "solo all the floors"? Does it make sense to get to a certain level, reset your prestige, and start over from the beginning? I've been trying to go as deep into the dungeon as I can, and it seems like resetting my prestige would only hurt my XP, unless I started over from the top.
  12. I think that it depends a lot on your personality. Are you the type of person who will stop to pick up every 100-200 gp drop from every monster you kill? Some people will because they can't stand leaving gp on the floor, it stacks, and it adds up over time. Basically all the same arguments for picking up gold charms. I personally find that it disrupts my gameplay enough that it just isn't worth it.
  13. This has got to be one of my favorite posts in a while. The GE/price-limits are so broken that just by trading something for the official Jagex set price, people are worried that they'll get in trouble for RWT.
  14. If you can't get anything else, a combat bracelet or regen bracelet would be much better in the glove spot. But, like everyone else said, irons aren't good for money making.
  15. I've heard that the mask will lose one charge for every 200 (well, 2000 now) hp that you lose. This kind of makes sense because when I had a much lower defense level I used to be able to completely drain the mask in one slayer task.
  16. I think that the notion that the lack of outrage is because everyone is starting to "get it" is completely wrong. My opinion is that people are simple fatigued with constantly fighting an endless battle with Jagex over ill conceived updates. People are just starting to accept the fact that Jagex doesn't (and won't ever) "get it", so they're starting to just give up. An excited and involved fan-base is vital to the success of the game. The [garden tool]-hum attitude that's been showing lately is actually pretty deadly. If people can no longer be bothered to complain, that means that they no longer have any emotional involvement with the game and have nothing that prevents them from simply moving on. It's always said that the opposite of love isn't actually hate. The opposite of love is indifference. For the longest time people either loved the game or hated it. Now people just don't care.
  17. I've read countless discussions about "opportunity cost" and the like, but this is probably the best example that I've come across that explains why the "if I gather it myself, then it's free" way of thinking is totally wrong. As to the original question, I just recently got 90 herblore and 92 prayer. With healing familiars I rarely have a need to use soul split, but I use extreme strength and attack on nearly every slayer task. Honestly though, neither is probably as game changing as you think that it's going to be. Maybe for boss monsters or PvP having higher prayer will come out ahead, but I don't actually do much of that so I can't really say.
  18. I just did 16K bones to get to 92 prayer. The burners will almost always last long enough for a full inventory + a yak full of bones. And really, the only times that it didn't was because I was daydreaming and had a delay getting my inventory filled from the yak.
  19. There is some pretty strange financial advice in this thread. Here are some prices.... Uncut dragonstone 58.7k Crystal key 76.0k Loop half of a key 20.5k Tooth half of a key 51.7k To say that a crystal key isn't worth much, or that a single dragonstone makes it worthwhile, isn't really true. If you get a good second from the chest, you'll make a small profit. If you don't, you'll lose up to about 20K. For a while dragonstones were unbuyable, and I had to use some of my keys that I had stored up. With about 20 keys I ended up with a small loss, on average.
  20. The only reason that I use the Guthans special effect anymore is for the fight caves. But, I do use the plate and legs all the time just for their value as armor, which has one of the strongest defense bonuses in the game. I think that maybe Torags might have slightly higher defensive stats, but I don't have the bank space to keep both.
  21. It is a rare drop in the sense that it doesn't occur very often, but it isn't an item on the "rare drop table" (because it's a monster specific drop) so a RoW won't have any effect.
  22. It's probably healthy to take a break from slayer once in a while. You don't have to push on to 99 all in one go. Take a few weeks off and make some money. You can kill dragons, range avainses, or even kill monster for herbs until you get your fill of it. There's plenty of money making options available. If you really like slayer, it'll still be there when you get back.
  23. sure you did sell it to a pet shop and not pikkupstix or someone like that? I'll bet that's what I did. thanks.
  24. When I went I didn't see a "sell -x" option to sell the 50k at once only a "sell 50", so it took me hours to sell them back. Was I doing it wrong? I'm praying that I was, because I have a lot more that I'd like to sell.
  25. You can only sell them back 50 at a time, correct? Or is there a quicker way to sell them back?
