The Great Gielinor Cross Country Meet (CANCELLED)
agility works in f2p to regain energy faster only that nothing else but it still helps does ANYONE try and learn any bit about runescape nowadays? It has been confirmed, indeed, that agility still effects energy on a F2P world, so the playing field isn't level.

Done..well, not really. Cancelled :)
Ok... the movie you seen surely is "kingdom of heaven" and it is a perdiod a little before the third crusade, thank you for the correct wirting "kaaba" i just donnot speak english and in spanish it is called kabala :P I am assuming you are referring to the Kabbalah, which is an aspect of Jewish mysticism. See http://www.digital-brilliance.com/kab/faq.htm Darkluniux might be interested to note the role of Sephardic (Ladino) Jews in the tradition. By the way, sir, put me down for the Qu'ran's Priests. I volunteer to lead.

Hunter Skill!
We have a sticky on Rants regarding rants on updates after they are released: The latest update stinks because... (Post here.) I agree with Naz here, mostly because there has been many other criticisms based on speculation. It's fine to guess about what it will be, but I would save the negative thoughts after release time. Of course, that includes the sticky-- I will be removing posted complaints about unreleased updates there, if they are posted.

The Examine Player Option! ~Updated 3/15/07~ 147 SUPPORTERS!
I will support the first part, but I agree the second is too vulnerable to hacking and account tampering.

The Storylines, Quests etc etc... [Lots of reading!]
I consider Demon Slayer to be a precedessor to Shadow of the Storm, particularly in regards to Silverlight/Darklight. I also consider Tree Gnome quest, Gnome Stronghold, Monkey Madness, and Eyes of Glouphrie to be loosely connected. Here's another suggestion: The Rellekka storyline- The Fremmenik Trials -> Mountain Daughter -> Lunar Diplomacy When you say 'The Wise Old Man", do you mean Swan Song?

Monkfish, come and see!
About Jagex and originality: Many sci-fi/fantasy writers and game designers borrow pretty heavily from real life. They do so because it draws readers and players in; if concepts were all created from whole cloth, they'd be difficult to relate to, and writers and designers would have to spend time explaining them, which some people don't want to waste time doing. I doubt anyone can come up with a concept that is 100% original in every way, since then it wouldn't have a point of reference to understand it.

Forum Question.
It would belong in 'Runescape Bugs & Suggestions', however, with a description of the bug.

Tip.It RS clothing guide? (Sets only- No Mix and Match)
Yeah, a repost with any white weapon would be great.

Tip.It RS clothing guide? (Sets only- No Mix and Match)
Comments: X, that's awesome! I hadn't considered a pic of a character as a frog when refusing to kiss the frog prince/princess. Did they change the Halloween mask graphic? It looks much better. Dusty668- worthy try, but it's not the article I was looking for. When the camo clothes were first released, the top and bottoms looked really bad, and the helmet completed the set. Well, the top and bottoms were changed, and the helmet was changed to a hat. The only picture I know of that exists for the original helmet is in DroolMAN's guide, so a dialogue picture of someone wearing the original helmet is going to be a very rare pic indeed. But... the green d hide is spot on-- I could use pics of green, blue, red, and black items. I will likely focus a bit more on the color and gold trimmed versions, however. Stilev- those pictures are awesome. Just what I was looking for. I can't tell right at the moment-- are they .gif files? Most of the submissions will be transparentized to conserve bandwidth. my_tribute: the dialogue box pictures are super- this is the format I need. Quick request: do you have a doctor's hat to go along with the doctor's gown? (Might be easier to show as a set).

More F2P Bank Space! [BANKSPACE ACHIEVED!]
After some careful thought, I have restored the responses. Doing so, however, will make this topic near-impossible to clean in the future. I have referenced this post in Rants: F2P update posts I think it's reasonable to request additional bank space, as long as Jagex is assured they will continue to receive a return on their investment. Please refrain from spam and flames on this thread. Disagreement and agreement is fine, but please put thought and care into your responses.

Streamline Ingredient Cooking
This is the initial post I made for the suggestion on the official forums: Now, look at the Cooking - Flavours Of The Gnome Lands entry under Cooking in the Knowledge Base. The menu interface used for gnome food could be extended to all ingredient foods easily. The quick find code for the suggestion thread is 24-25-697-33054169, and it is titled '2-3 Step Ingredient Cooking'. Please take a moment to comment here, and/or on the official forums.

Tip.It RS clothing guide? (Sets only- No Mix and Match)
Hmmm... maybe it might be good to include the wands... nice pic :) Stilev- yeah. You might need to get someone else to take the screenshot so you can get a good zoom-in- it's near impossible to do yourself. Nick_6464- I'll save it, but I can't use such a submission right now. (No mix and match.) evilboy1034- well, we have a highwayman mask pic now, but take a screenie wearing it in the dialogue box (i.e., when you talk to an NPC). And yes, I need boater pics.

Tip.It RS clothing guide? (Sets only- No Mix and Match)
Bumping this to the top. Some tough stuff I need: Camo helmet- the headwear item from the Drill Demon random event, before it was changed to a hat. If someone can provide or find me a dialogue picture with a player wearing a helmet, I would be very grateful. More guidelines: Headwear pictures- crop to the neck, or use a dialogue picture. Or send both :) Footwear pictures- crop to about mid-calf. Forgot to mention that I will be accepting wearable holiday items, including rares. Please see guidelines for headwear if it only includes a hat- Christmas 2005 items should be cropped to head and shoulders to show hats with matching scarves. I'm going to go ahead and include Christmas 2004 (yo-yo) and Easter 2005 (rubber chicken). Please crop to the arm or wear something non-descript. For Easter 2006, that would be all transformed egg possibilities. Halloween 2005 is a bit tougher- I'll say use pictures of emotes if you can, and include a picture of the zombie head as it appears in the dialogue screen. If you want to take pictures with the head in full zombie, that is OK. When the guide is done, I'll open this post for pictures of favorite mix and match outfits, or I will create a new topic for it. Thanks for your time and consideration- and thanks to all those who have already sent submissions.

Q's about Swan Song
1. Yeah, I'd take a couple of admirals to last a little longer. You might need only one. 2. I don't believe so. 3. What do you have for armor and weapons? I think you'd do ok if you wore at least rune and had two fast weapons, such as a dd++ and a dragon scimitar (or a d long for a balance of speed and power). I think my combat was higher than yours when I did it, but I seem to remember using a dd++ and a d long and did ok. 4. I would recommend you bring prayer pots for the final battle to protect from magic (Queen uses mostly magic attacks). Fill about half of your inventory with 4 dose prayer pots and the other half with sharks and/or pineapple pizzas (you might try a mix of sharks and pineapple pizzas for varying damage you might receive).

Employment Agency
As you know, we have a discussion going on adding subforums, so please take a look at the Announcement (should be on this board) and comment. This problem might be addressed with such an addition.

runescape or dragonfable?
Well, I Googled it (because I didn't know what it was), but I don't see much of a similar comparison- RS is Java code, and this looks like a Flash game. Can you explain the other game a little better?

More F2P Bank Space! [BANKSPACE ACHIEVED!]
Enjoy the free bump :) My suggestion for a "sponsored" level would be a one-time payment of $20, or about 4 months worth of membership. Jagex may find many F2Pers sending in this amount for the moderate increase in bank space, and fewer advertisements, so they may be more amendable to such an idea. They will still have brand new players coming in to view the amount of advertisements F2P has now, even with a number of players that may sit at the sponsored level before going P2P, and this new players will still have an incentive to send in money for this level, or P2P. It is a moderated solution that may still increase Jagex's profit margins while covering their operating costs for server maintenance. I am not sure if they will add more servers or not. They may designate a number of F2P servers as "sponsored" if they implement this idea, and only add a few more F2P servers to keep new players coming to the game, while providing a strong incentive to move up a tier.

World 126!
Well wasn't world 126 a test world for new updates before? Only accessible by mods and staff. The word that came to me was that the server for 126 had previously closed down. The ones that have recently disappeared may have experienced a similar fate. I believe Jagex contracts their servers, but I don't know, to be honest.

Stick with a 70 Def pure or Make a "Normal Account"
I agree-- it's basically going with what you like to do most.

Help with Agility training...
I'm switching between the Pyramid and the Ape Atoll course, which I just mentioned elsewhere on the board. I'm 63 Agility at the moment, and I can keep a nice, steady, even pace on the Pyramid with few failures. The Ape Atoll course, well, I fail maybe 35% of the time. (I've been told it stops at 70). You can always go back to the Wildy course as well to stave off boredom. I've decided not to at this time, and I avoid the Werewolf course because I fail the slide almost always.
-
Brimhaven Agility Course
I had a similar experience-- I went to Brimhaven once and then decided to do Barbarian until I could go out to the Wildy course. At 63 agility now I switch between the Pyramid and Ape Atoll-- the former I have a steady rhythm with few failures; Ape Atoll-- well, I don't do as well. I left the Wildy course behind for the most part because I couldn't stay that long and I grew a bit tired of it. Some stuff to look forward to.

WHAT DO YOUR PARENTS THINK OF RUNESCAPE?
All right kids, brace for "when I was your age"... but since it's only a generation back, it shouldn't be too far removed... I got an Atari for Christmas in the early 80's, and my parents immediately had regrets. Somehow I really enjoyed playing Pac-Man even though I look back and see the 2600 version was abysmally bad. Some time later, around middle school, or so, we got our first computer- an Apple //e. My father worked with a guy we called "Uncle Norm"-- he introduced us to BBS and gave us copies of cracked versions of some popular games for the Apple at the time. (*cough* yes, Cap'n Jak learned about piracy early ) I proceeded to drive my parents nuts playing those games for hours on end. I started playing Runescape a short time after becoming a parent myself. My parents didn't really make much of a fuss, but then, I was in my own home. The rest of my family-- well, my sister living in town, and my brother-in-law (her husband) are gamer aficionados but their responses seem to suggest that they regard RS to be the bane of the library. They are librarians for the local library system. I can't blame them too much as I've visited myself and have seen a few preteen boys that were disrupting other patrons yelling and shouting. My daughter is 4 and has shown an interest in Runescape-- she often asks what I am doing and will crawl all over my lap and hang on the computer chair. My wife (Cimmorene here and in game) used to play but she is more interested in prose-based/freeform online play these days-- not too surprising because her mother is, too, and she's borrowed a lot of Myst games from her. Well, obviously, my daughter is too young to play RS but I know she will be on the computer as long as she can if I don't set limits. She loves to play outside and be very physically active-- which is hard in an apartment complex-- but I don't want to discourage her drive to be active-- I call her "monkey girl" because she is so much so. I've seen the downside of hours of playing-- I used to get into trouble in college playing MUDs for hours and otherwise being glued to the computer. I won't discourage my kids from playing, but I think it's good to set some limits. Yes, I know MMORPGs take an insane amount of time... but you can leave Runescape, and it will still be there. When you really think about it, there's plenty of time to catch up, and even if you don't, that means there is plenty to discover later on. I play to unwind and socialize with some friends. But to be really, really, honest, I prefer to meet with people in person and spend my day, maybe my evening around town. I don't think I do that enough. Swifty McVae retired from Staff and Runescape completely a while back to have more time playing the drums and going out for social events with his friends. If you can walk away from this very addictive game and say 'I need more time for other things in my life', I think that's 100% commendable. There's so much to life, and a little unwind time on RS is just a part of it. Don't be too hard on your folks if they want you to spend some time away to participate in that other stuff.

More F2P Bank Space! [BANKSPACE ACHIEVED!]
EDIT: Responses have been restored. Some thoughts: Bank space is defined by the size of the player file. I believe I was told the player file is currently about 5k. When bank slots are added, it decreases the space needed for quests and future updates. I do not know if this differs between f2p and p2p, but my guess is the code is roughly the same. An idea may be fantastic-- I think a line or two would be ok, but you're got to back up something like this with how the player file would be managed. Jagex has hinted *very very* strongly about how difficult it is to free up file space for more bank slots, and apparently this is because they want space for quests and updates. Why not increase the player file, you might say? I'm not certain, but I suspect that doing so increases the overall memory usage. Jagex has attempted to make concessions for lower-end machines with low detail (although I am not sure how they added music in low detail without a memory increase) and with the Runescape client, which is simply a browser shell. Add to this that some users are still on dialup. This isn't too terribly unusual in some locations, such as Australia and New Zealand. What I have seen one shareware MMORPG (Rubies of Eventide) do is offer benefits to players who make a one-time donation to the company. This could be a legitimate solution to many players. This could be a version of p2p that adds some bank space and a few more features. This might not translate well because free to play is already at a "sponsored" level, but it is an idea to consider. Very likely, if it is implemented, full f2p ads would remain or be only somewhat limited.

So you found some money on the ground...
I'd go a bit further than that. I'd invest it into the finest furnishings for my POH, or the very best that I could put in the most places I could. My cash flow is reasonably decent to fund oak planking for oak larder training. I would of course see it as a good stroke of karma, so I would try to use it to give back. I'd open up the house once I had a guilded altar, and make mahogany lecterns available for those that could use them. I'm a bit selfish, granted, but I go by this philosophy, generally. Something good comes to me, I must pay it forward to continue the cycle.

New Tip.it IRC Server Discussion
Staff and new Ops have done some really good work. That includes Cruiser and Puremage_UK. We hope you're pleased with the results. It will take some time to get everything fine-tuned just right, but things are looking really good.
