  1. The byline in that story is dated February 16, 2010 - 18 months ago. When did the fansite status program start? Why did it take 18 months for Jagex to take this action? Just how much research goes into the fansite status program? Can we expect Jagex to be doing background checks on all fansite operators? Staff members? While I don't disagree with what they did, it does open a can of worms.
  2. re: the Jiblix interview I found this to be quite eye-opening: The suits should just rename the game SpinScape, because its all about spin these days.
  3. I ripped a CD to m4a this morning, and am looking for a way to join some of the songs that should be played back to back to back. Looking for something that runs on the Windows platform. Audacity doesn't seem to be able to do this with m4a. EDIT - I finally figured out how to do this in iTunes itself (Step 7): http://www.ehow.com/how_7346767_organize-file-m4a-files-itunes.html This can be locked.

  5. Can we a get a loser's bracket going? [hide=sample rules] NFL loser's bracket The goal of this game is to consistantly pick a losing team in the NFL. Each week before the first NFL game starts you must post a team that will lose its game. You may not use the same team twice. The winner will be decided by the person who picks the most teams in a row, up to 16. A no response to this thread will mean that you will have picked the worst team you haven't picked yet. The first tiebreaker will be decided by the person who picks (correctly) the "most best teams" at the time of their pick as determined by ESPN's power rankings (The lowest sum of their power rankings). The second tiebreaker will be (if needed) who correctly guessed the highest ranked team (at the time of their pick) to loose. If in some way we need a third tiebreaker, you all win. Congrats. [/hide] ESPN does one of these every year, except you pick a winner instead of a loser. http://games.espn.go.com/eliminator-challenge/en/frontpage
  6. I have donated in the past, but it has been a while. I havent had a PayPal account for about two years now, so that avenue is not an option.
  7. I got a phishing email this morning. The text of the message: Of course, there are no messages in my Runescape inbox. From the email headers, the originating IP is in Hong Kong (202.91.233.253) The phishing link itself is in the tk TLD. Let's be careful out there.
  8. I think I'll stick with the good ol' Save 100% plan.
  9. It should look OK, but it would look better if you fed it via DVI or HDMI. I have an LCD monitor that looks hella sharp on the DVI jack, but looks godawful fuzzy when I connect via the VGA jack (particularly the fonts).

  11. Plastic Head King is in it, though he isn't the star. It's by the Crispin Porter + Bogusky agency mentioned in the news story.
  12. One is a multimillion dollar business for an MMORPG that depends on the satisfaction of its userbase versus a community for a group of coders working with a beginner-to-intermediate game design tool. It's a forum that revolve around a game. Still the same thing. Not in how an area operates and the standards it maintains. If you haven't seen the many ways a community can be run it's harder to understand, I guess. But they're not the same. Sure they might be different: but devoicing critics -even from representatives- is no way to handle it. Especially when the critics aren't that weird, and shared by thousands, probably the majority of the customers. Jiblix should be thankful that he is learning this lesson at no expense. Had he actually been in the employ of Jagex, he'd have likely lost his means of support as well. But it's really not any different at other companies - you can't expect to badmouth your employers in a public venue and at the same time expect your relationship with said company to stay the same. I don't think Jagex was at all out of line to demod in this case. The taking down of YouTube videos under the guise of copyright, however, is shameful. There is indeed the concept of fair use and it should be respected. There are no trade secrets being passed here, no intellectual property being devalued. The video is simply flat-out embarassing to Jagex and they don't like it, nor do they like to admit it.
  13. Jagex is hiding any posts that mention voting for any other game. They've hidden a handful of mine that say nothing negative about RuneScape and positive things about Bejeweled 3. If you state you are voting for a different game and offer positive reasons (great gameplay, animations, challenging logic, etc.), your posts are hidden. If you simply state you are voting for a different game, your posts are hidden. These are the marks of a company that has a weak product and strong competitors. Do they really think Bejeweled 3 is their arch-rival for their gaming customers? As for the specifics of the Jiblix situation, I don't see how anyone is surprised. If I was Jagex, I'd probably have done a similar thing (though with a lot more tact and a lot less abrasion).
  14. Lold. How can this possibly be true? I doubt it costs more than $5 per bot to get rid of or explain. If they are expensing legal fees as part of their anti-bot budget, I could see the corporate POV... maybe.
  15. It's good to be king, if just for a while To be there in velvet, yeah, to give 'em a smile It's good to get high and never come down It's good to be king of your own little town. - Tom Petty I'll miss those goofy commercials.
  16. The suits' bonus figures must be tied to new membership numbers. That's the only way I can figure it... Sorry suits... no bacon for you.

  21. I am trying to manipulate a table with Jquery - hiding certain rows upon a button click. The table itself has 6 different class values. One class will always be displayed. I want to be able to hide any or all of the other 5 classes, and any combinations of them. I need a separate labeled button for each class. The tutorials I have found (such as this one: http://www.w3schools...uery_hide_class) all show examples of 1 button, which I have been able to make work on my table. But I am unable to add any other buttons - I can't figure out how to distinguish between different buttons. I have tried name and id with no success. An example that isn't working: <input type='submit' name='hideP' id='hideP' value='Pop Culture' /> $("hideP").click(function(){ $(".P").hide(2000); }); How do I have more than one button in Jquery?
  22. I will recommend Asus motherboards, I have an A8N-SLI Premium, and it has been an absolute joy. The manual is a thick bound book chocked full of diagrams & details. Their warranty service is also outstanding. My board died within 6 months and it was replaced at no cost to me. That replacement has been rock solid ever since. The only bad thing I would say about Asus is that they use Realtek audio on the motherboard.
