Need a new screen
Ive owned a Samsung monitor before, and I vouch that they do stand behind their product. My old Samsung had a 3-year manufacturers warranty and I did have to make a claim, which Samsung honored (with a refurbished replacement). I notice the US warranty is 1 year for Samsung monitors now, and its a little disappointing to see they have cut the time down. Maybe its different in Belgium.

Nagle's algorithm & Runescape
I was [bleep]ing around with TCP/IP tuning tonight and I came across something I had never heard of before: Nagle's algorithm. Apparently, it can have a significant effect on latency as it purposefully delays packet transmissions in order to increase bandwidth. It does this at the expense of latency. In all the years I have seen people mention ways to fix lag, I have never ever seen this algorithm mentioned. Apparently Windows users can disable it through registry changes (search for "Nagle" to get to the section). Has anyone here actually tried this and can you confirm /deny any improvements in latency?

Power Supply Recommendations
My 4 year old Cooler Master PSU (with a 3 year warranty) gave up the ghost a few days ago, and I find myself looking for a replacement. I could use a few recommendations for reliable manufacturers. I might get another Cooler Master or I might try someone else. My old unit was 550W; Id want to get a 550W or 600W to replace it. My main interest is in finding out which manufactures I can trust. Amazon has a few Diabloteks that are priced extraordinarily nicely, but I dont necessarily trust the reviews they have.

Understanding How Bots Work
They're not necessarily being banned, Jagex has been doing a lot of skill rollbacks on people who bot. That way the person keeps playing and paying. It's more profitable than simply banning them. They definitely roll back, and not just low to mid levels. I just checked my rankings for the first time in months, and I seem to have gone up a smidgen (7701), despite not having garnered meaningful XP since January. Its not a matter of Jagex being unable to detect bots - its a matter of them being unwilling to do anything more punitive.

05-Jul-2011 - Salt in the Wound
@ Urza285: I dont believe most people would consider an in-game pop-up ad as an f2p update. @ everyone: Now what will you say when those pop-ups start advertising external products? If that pop-up had been pushing Mountain Dew or Tim Tams, what would have been your reaction? Wow... youve been slaying those frosties for an hour now. And speaking of frosties, wouldnt a cold Mountain Dew hit the spot right about now? Its sad to watch this game slide on down the way it is going. Its like watching an old friend die slowly and painfully. You wish they would just hurry up and cross over already.

Windows Scheduled Automated Login
I am using the Windows app that came with the card - FusionHDTV. The scheduler runs as a tray app and launches the main app when needed to record a program. I can load the schedule by clicking on programming in TitanTV's online guide. I believe it does, set to run at system start up instead of after log on. How To Schedule Tasks in Windows XP I completely missed the part about scheduling tasks before login. I will try to schedule my TV scheduler to start before login and see if that works. EDIT - I scheduled the tray app to start upon boot, added a show to its schedule for testing and then rebooted. When I logged in an hour later, my show had recorded without any account being logged in. Thanks for all the input and help.

Windows Scheduled Automated Login
Thanks for digging. I am not sure I want to turn that on though. I don't want to remove the login - I just want to be able to schedule a login from time to time. I would want the system to boot at 06:00 every day (done; through BIOS). I would want to be able to schedule a log-in for a low-leveled account, record a TV show, and then log off. This might happen two or three times a day: login, record, log off. At the end of the day's recording, I would want to schedule a shutdown (done; through Control Panel --> Scheduled Tasks) I have found a commercial product that seems to do what I want, but I would rather just do it through Windows itself. It seems more and more likely that I won't be able to though. I’m starting to think I should just build a simple system with a tuner card solely to do my TV recording, and then let it run 24/7.

Windows Scheduled Automated Login
I am looking for a way to login to a Windows desktop machine on a daily basis. I want to do this as a scheduled task. I have got her set up to shut down automatically every night. The BIOS has an option to boot the system every day at a certain time. All I need now is a way to automate the login to Windows. This is primarily to record TV shows that would air while I am away / asleep. I could just leave the system up, running & logged in 24/7, but that seems rather inelegant.

Tip.It Times - 19th June 2011
I think the entire Vanity Items idea stinks to high heaven. It wouldnt surprise me to see this roll out to GameStops around the world, however. They operate stores in Canada, Australia, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Austria, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, Portugal, and Sweden. Rumor has it they will be buying a UK chain soon. I could see Jagex/GameStop milking this Vanity Item cow for months. But I could care less whether the item has or has not stats / emotes / unlocks music / whatever. My problem is that it further segregates member accounts into classes: those who do business with GameStop and those who do not or cannot. The entire notion is just wrong on so many levels.

Return of the wildy/free trade-do you regret your vote?
I don't regret my sole, human-originated "No" vote, nor do I regret the subsequent bank account ban I issued against Jagex Games Studio. However, I feel re-examining the events of early 2011 can only serve as a post-mortem. The damage that has been done cannot be undone. There can be no rollback, no reversal of policy, no magical development of a bot detection system that can undo what Gerhard has done.

Vanity Items - RS Prepaid cards and Ornate Katana
I noticed it, but wrote it off as being "one hand not knowing what the other was doing."

Vanity Items - RS Prepaid cards and Ornate Katana
Though I can see the argument from the gift card user's side ("We pay more for the same product"), I wholeheartedly disapprove of this scheme. In case it hasn't been noted yet: This company is making it easier for me to hate them with every passing day.

Stuck in 1600x1200 resolution
I found the manual here: http://www.retrevo.c...23300bh429/t/2/ Basically, the max resolution you are going to get is 1920 x 1080. You can get that with an HDMI cable like I mentioned before, or you can get a DVI-to-HDMI cable and that will get you 1920 x 1080 as well. The manual does a good job of illustrating the different ways to connect (DVI-to-HDMI requires using a specific jack). You might try going into the TV’s setup menu and selecting “PC Mode --> Auto Adjustment” and see what resolution you get - just for shiggles. If it was me, I'd just go HDMI-to-HDMI and use the mini-HDMI adapter. It should work fine, as you aren't changing the signal - just changing the shape of the plug. Seriously, Dollar General sells HDMI cables for under $10 US.

Stuck in 1600x1200 resolution
The jack on that card is mini-HDMI BTW, so buy your cable accordingly. I don't think theres a lot of price difference between that and a normal HDMI cable; I find both around $10 on Amazon. I suspect you will max out at 1920 x 1080 using one of these. The maximum analog resolution of that card is 2048 x 1536 though, so I still don't have an answer why you are stuck with UXGA resolution. I'm downloading the manual and maybe I will have some more specific answers after I eat and read a little bit.
