  1. So we managed to get three updates for the month of May afterall. Now to see how the 'improvement' turns out....
  2. I do hope that there's something useful for mages out of this quest. I'm not hoping for something better than Ahrim's, but at least an equipment for mildly high level mages for the shield slot would be nice. And please redo the design of those past items too.
  3. Aside from the practical benefits of the skill, I do find the general concept of Slayer interesting. Monsters with a certain weakness, or special ability that you must protect against. Occasionally I have players asking me about the monster and the best way to kill it, and I myself gets to learn a new thing or two whenever there's a new slayer beast released.
  4. And without the rewards? The skill is completely useless out of Daemonheim. Dungeoneering on its own has not earn the player any ability at all. Great reward yes, but that doesn't make it a beneficial 'skill', because if so many activities out there has useful rewards as well.
  5. The original post is that the extra defence of chaotic shield would mean that it's full capability outshines that of divine/elysian, including all the special effects, which is clearly not true at all for divine at least. If the argument was only about how more defence bonus is better and nothing else, it wouldn't even be 'valid', it'll be a fact. Who doesn't know that more bonus = better? And now that it's shown that chaotic shield only absorb up to, or not absolutely 20%/10% damage, I believe even elysian is better than it. Jagex seems rather stingy with the benefits of the shields tbh, for the time invested and cost of recharge.
  6. Wow... typical JaGeX ripping people off. How do you phrase it in a better manner then? Up to 20% is UP TO 20%. Granted many people here missed out this part, but saying that Jagex 'ripped you off'? And even if it's a full 20%/10% absoption, chaotic still isnt't better than divine, at at best on par with elysian.
  7. I mentioned Chaotic being worse in situations such as Bandos. If you have like a billion gp to buy a Divine/Elysian solely for GWD, then go for it. What other situation would chaotic be better than ely? bandos you agreed to, zammy needs mage def so thats out, sara barely hits above 200 so its useless there, and its completely useless at arma Barrows brothers don't hit above 200, and if they do it is just barely over it and rare to get hit for, and you wouldn't no pary dharok melee'ing if you wanted to do it efficently Slayer monsters dont hit over 200.. so yeah.. anything except pvp = useless for chaotic, and divine clearly wins there over it Sums up what I was thinking. You need a divine for boss hunting. For everything else, there's bandos chestplate + tasset.
  8. Just a short question, does the extra damage bonus for fire surge applies to all fire spells when cast upon ice strykewyrms?
  9. Do the healers always come in the same direction?
  10. I had my first two attempts at fight caves for the first time and failed both after the healers appeared. Pray switching wasn't a big problem, but the healers I distracted continued to heal Jad, which I found out was new thing after the graphical update (probably switched prayer long enough to kill Jad 4 times over..... If I kill off all the healers, would more healers spawn?
  11. I couldn't agree more. However, a jmod said that they were not planning on releasing any of the items, becuase they had horrible clipping issues with "outside activities". I call it BS because the armor has shown no issues with any of the activities in dungeoneering, which cover a broad selection of skills and animations that are done in the outside world. The issues was with how the armor clipped with capes I believe, hence: no capes in the dungeons. simple solution, just create 1 cape whos design is not to clip with new armor so that the only way u can wear it is to wear this cape too, a fair penalty for being able to use epic gear, heck why not the dungeoneering cape itsself, just somehow make the dung cape/another cape that doesnt clip and bam One of the capes that cause the most problems is problably skillcapes with the shoulder pads and all. I don't see why there's a need to create this special situation, because 'epic' gear stats wise would eventually be introduced, just not with the skins of dungeoneering armour. And if you want the skins to be available, the fastest solution would be to prevent capes from being equipped along with dungeoneer armour skins, and not making it sound as if making one cape compatible with the skins is easy. If it's THAT easy, we'd have some form of cape within Daemonheim as well.
  12. Lunar spellbook could do with a few twitches here and there. It's supposed to be a hybrid of skiller and combat support spells, but several non-combat skills don't have any spells to support them, while MAJORITY of the combat support spells are useless. How often do you see people using potion share or heal other spell? I like some of the suggestions, such as crafting kit, temporary anvil. Fishing could do with a fishing kit as well. And maybe a spell to summon the best pickaxr/hachet from your bank? As for combat support, it's a tricky matter to balance magic without making resouces such as food and potions obselete.
  13. For some reason community events organised by Jagex never sound very RuneScape-like or Gielinor-like to me. Jagex Cup....Fight Knight Clan Tournament.... But nevertheless, pretty interesting. I'm wondering if the winning team would get anything?
  14. Chances are, a statement from Jagex doesn't help much. I mean, you've seen the picture of Jagex making their statement that it's not RWT/microtransaction from a few post earlier, and that doesn't stop this us from discussing either. I would keep mum on this matter as well, if I were Jagex. It works great, honestly. When's the last time you saw someone posting about wintumber trees being unfair before this Runefest discussion? Not on tip.it general chat, almost rare on RSOF. So, we should all just wrap ourselves in Orwellian-type ignorance and just be happy with things. Sorry, I just don't roll that way. I'm merely stating the more effective method to prevent the matter from getting out of hand, that Jagex is bound to employ. @ArtemisCatal in response to your edit: I'm pretty sure that Jagex knows the root of the problem here; implementation.

And @ArtemisCatal, no one needs to admit their mistake, because everyone's opinion on this matter is bound to be different. We can only agree to disagree.
  16. Yes, F2P combat levels above 90 gets an automated 50% nerf. One of the worst solution imo.
  17. As a post on the front page? Impossible. The learning part should be done though. Partly because Jagex rarely does that, and partly because that's inviting even more players who are unaware of this issue, or don't really care but would do so after reading on the RSOF, to riot on the forums. I think the backlash is on a smaller scale this time round than the wintumber tree/security keychain thanks to the fact that it wasn't on the headlines. And here we have more posts trying to define rwt/microtransaction and whether the item is significant enough for people who care to care.
  18. I did gave a reasonable feedback, by chance to Mod Mark H, when I saw him posting on the RSOF. Simply put, what I said (which I think most of the tip.iters agree) is that the idea of an in-game item as thanks to players who purchased (but may not attend the event) was unneceesary. However, if Jagex insists on giving out another similar item for the next Runefest for players who attend the item to identify themselves with, precautions should be taken such that only people at the event gets the item. The rest of the debate here just seems to revolve around the same old topics, such as "we shouldn't see the flag as microtransaction/RWT", "the flag is purely cosmetic and hence should not bother anyone" and such. Purely stating how the community should respond does not change how people would naturally respond. Jagex should have by now recognised that the misunderstanding arose from their original 'goodwill', and it's hard to clear it by just stating their stand. (Mod Mark was trying to respond to as many thread as possible in order to convince people that it's not RWT/microtransaction. Futile, I would say.)
  19. Seems like nowadays every post gets longer and longer.... The bottomline is, the whole thing could have been implemented in a better way, given the experience Jagex had with past events. They screwed it up, and naturally player with the capacity to know what went wrong voice their opinion (in a reasonable or cynical manner), and Jagex have taken note of this mistake.
  20. That's the problem. If Jagex insist on giving people who attended the event an in-game item to identify themselves with, does it the proper way, people would be more understanding of the symbolism of the item. Right now we have someone who would pay just for the item without going to the event, and some who would get the item off another person who purchase the ticket. That's why it's not fair. It's not because 'life's not fair'. <_< You don't even get the gist of the argument. I get it just fine. People have no morals or ethics. I realize that. if people could purchase the ticket through their Jagex accounts instead of TM, they could just directly input the item into the user's account/ Understand too, that people are not very forgiving nowadays. Especially with a game that charges you a fee. Especially with past experience with similar matters such as wintumber trees and security keychains. Jagex made a mistake, and people are bound to complain, not pat them on their back and say "it's ok, it's alright...."

Right now we have someone who would pay just for the item without going to the event, and some who would get the item off another person who purchase the ticket. And then there's the question of whether in-game item was necessary in the first place. That's why it's not fair. It's not because 'life's not fair'. <_< You don't even get the gist of the argument.
  22. As far as i've understood, there will be given out exclusive goody bags to everyone when they enter. Well im just going off Qelters post for this, but you are able to redeem the code for the banner upon buying the ticket right? Yes. I managed to catch Mod Mark H on the recent updates board just now, and he does agree that the lack of prevention is something that was overlooked. People can redeem the code and not attend the event, and nothing's stopping them from passing the code to another player either. I suspect that if there's another runefest in 2011, Jagex would still give out a new flagstaff to keep up with the tradition, but take more precaution to let only the people who attend the event have it.
  23. You pretty much summed it up. You obviously didn't read enough of the posts then.
  24. Let me just put the main argument back on track, for those who obviously weren't reading. It's NOT about the flag. Heck, everyone knows that it's going to be a cosmetic item. It's about the way Jagex does things. I'll just quote three examples of how they royally screw up an otherwise perfectly normal situation. Wintumber tree: Was it to thank players for signing up as members, or to encourage people to sign up as members? It's a matter of perspective. However, they could have just trash the whole idea of member-only holiday item and give it out to everyone, or allow anyone who participated in that year's event to get the tree later on, if they sign up as members. Security key chain: At first it was an issue of how they needed enough demand in order to manufacture in bulk and lower the cost price. After a mere suggestion of more bankspace for purchasing, the situation escalated to the levels of "OMG JAGEX IS DOING MICROTRANSACTION!!!", resulting in the scraping of the idea. Runefest 2010: A discussion on what the event might have in store for us, what the ticket price would be, whether the price is reasonable turning into whether this banner thingy is a hint at microtransaction. Would it kill Jagex if they didn't give out an in-game item for a real-life event? It's not a matter of how we should react to these situations. It's a matter of how players would NATURALLY react to the situation. And for a game company that declared their disapproval of microtransaction and RWT, these results in a greater backlash. If you disapprove of microtransaction, don't do anything that makes people doubt your words. If not, take back your words and start selling cosmetic items the proper way. If you were Jagex, would you insist on giving out an in-game item because you eagarly want to thank the player, after seeing the reaction? Is it NECESSARY?
  25. On the bright side, now we know that the game has the capability to give out items based on text input. I'm sure this would be useful for microtransaction game updates.
