Whats the Profitable Part of high lvled <skill>?
Codguy replied to nicrune007's topic in Help and Advice
With Sara Brews you will lose money, no doubt. They're roughly 2.5k each and the materials for them are around 3-3.5k I think. The only way to profit with Herblore is sell some of the pking potions higher than normal to pkers, but it takes forever to sell. So it's extremely hard to profit off of this. And with Farming, you maybe able to profit off of picking coconuts, but they take a long time to respawn and you have to pick 40 from each tree just to break even. Palm Tree Seeds cost roughly 80k each (what Farmers buy at) and 80k/2k = 40 coconuts. So I wouldn't recommend this method... Plus you could plant a number of more fruit trees in that time so you're just losing xp really. Herb planting is the way to go to profit from Farming. Smithing will only yield profit if you make cannonballs or knives really, or maybe an efficient rune shop on the forums at really high levels, but you have to know what you're doing. I'd recommend either making cannonballs from steel bars or smelt iron ores and smith knives from them. These methods maybe slower, but they yield profit. And lastly, I forgot about making armor for Crafting. Yes you can end up making a lot of profit after selling 50 red dragonhide sets on the forums for a couple of days... But it's kind of hard. I'd suggest once you get to 84 Crafting to make a Crafting store where you sell everything and have a price for everything. You could also switch it up and say they can bring you hides and you'll make things for them. Or whatever, but this and jewelry is the only way to profit from Crafting really. If you get it down right and don't mind getting slower xp (you could technically have a shop going while doing something else like FMing or WCing (something close to a bank)), then you can profit easily. Hope a few contradictions to people's responses and a bit more information will help. -
I would actually suggest ranging the whole way, it only takes 2 crystal bows and some armor, along with some pots. It was really simple for me and I was able to get my Fire Cape on my first try. This guide has 3 very good ways to attempt the Fight Caves. You can use your judgement on how to change them to your desire, but I recommend using one of them (not pure). How about this, buy the Guthans, get your desired levels, and then sell it back if you don't like it all that much. If prices lower, it won't be much and you'll easily make that money back through slayer and clue drops. I would say buy it, and sell it if you don't like it.

You definitely won't be averaging 800-900 monkfish per hour at lvl 90. I'm currently 82 (not that high I know) and with paying 100% attention I can max out at about 400-450 with some luck. The amount difference won't change much. So look maybe for 400-500 for an average I'd say. If you want more money, I would say Range because with the new average, you'd probably make more money through Blue Dragons.

It will either get you 99 or very close, and the iron knives are enough to back you up. Good luck :)

there must be some guide in AOW for killing these.. but at my CB levels it seems alittle difficult to.. There are plenty of guides. You can melee, mage, or range irons/steels and profit easily, as long as you kill enough to get some dragon drops.
-
Steel bars are more like 625-650 each though =\ So that doesn't really work if you want to profit.

Whats the Profitable Part of high lvled <skill>?
Codguy replied to nicrune007's topic in Help and Advice
Hmmm, I'll just explain how you can profit from these skills, high leveled or not. Smithing - Smelting your own iron and making iron knives (if you smelt the bars yourself, you'll profit; buy the bars and you'll lose a tiny bit), smithing cannonballs from steel bars, or making rune items at 85+. Only some of the rune items will yield you profit though, it can be hard unless you know what you're doing. Crafting - Really the only way to profit besides making bow strings would be to make jewelry if you can buy everything cheaper than you can sell. This would work with glories and furies, things like that. It's hard to profit in crafting. Farming - You really can't profit from farming trees. You can however profit very well from herbs and some of the allotment and flower (limpwurt) seeds. If you were to plant 4 or 5 ranarr or snapdragon seeds every 75 minutes, and played 5 hours a day, you can easily yield a couple hundred thousand profit, without much work. Herblore - Honestly, the only way to profit would be making super sets. It's hard with this skill as well. I would say planting herbs while smithing would be the best. -
Able to use guthan full or Black mask at Dust Devils?
Codguy replied to Dire_Wolf's topic in Help and Advice
But i think dust devil hits through prayer if you dont wear a gas mask.. that training is for the fire giants Not sure about that, but he was just asking about in the dungeon, not at dust devils. So I was just talking about in the dungeon  -
Except that's irrelevant. I would suggest making iron knives or steel cannonballs. You won't lose much money with knives and you'll profit from the cannonballs. I'd do this until you can do mith bolts because you can profit, break even, or maybe lose a tiny bit. It's overall faster. However if you want more profit, stick to steel cannonballs or smelting iron yourself and making knives.

I would recommend just meleeing and then having some blitzes and bursts (as you stated already) to just back yourself up at times or help with the flag or something. Your range (especially with bronze) won't do much against armor.

Able to use guthan full or Black mask at Dust Devils?
Codguy replied to Dire_Wolf's topic in Help and Advice
One thing, the dungeon itself hurts you if you don't have a facemask on, not if you're just fighting a dust devil. You can technically use Guthans but only for a few seconds hoping for a lucky heal. It's just not worth it in my opinion, I would never try it. However (this may be a bug), if you have melee prayer on the whole time, you will never go below 1 hp for some reason, so this makes it good for Dharokers, but you have to pray the WHOLE time. One mistake and you could die. I have seen this been done before. -
Watchtower teleport is closer than castle wars. Exactly what they said. You can also use a house teleport if you have your house in Yanille, however this takes up an extra spot in your inventory (unless using teleport tablets). When I melee those dragons, I pray against them and then house teleport to recharge my prayer, then go back. The only food I use is for the dragon breath, so I take a few cakes. Ranging them is very efficient and you'll make lots of money. You still make decent money even while using Crystal bows and what not. I highly recommend training there.

what do you think the most profitable monster is??
Codguy replied to kidurdude's topic in Help and Advice
RoW will help in getting Rune items and other things, but it will not increase chances of an amazing drop, like a Visage or Dragon Platelegs. Also, from personal experience, the Wealth stinks. I wore it and killed 100 Irons with nothing but a Rune Med Helm. Took it off and killed 6 more, got a Dragon Plateskirt. It's all probability, blah blah blah, I personally think a Seers is waaay better than a USELESS ROW. That is completely false, the Ring of Wealth increases the chance that you'll get a rare drop. If a Visage or Dragon drop isn't a rare drop, then something's wrong. One thing I'm wondering about... Why only bring a max of 1k bolts? You can bring up to 6k spells with a full inventory of antifire pots. And also, antifire pots last for nearly 6 minutes, not 10 minutes, just fyi. But to answer your question, I would recommend maging irons/steels (depending on your preference), they give some really good drops, with so many bolts you can get a lot of dragon drops and clues, it's good xp and I find it fun. Blue dragons have a decent resistance to magic attacks as well, ranging them is better. So I would say mage metal dragons, but range blue dragons. -
I decided to do some log cutting while doing some homework, it's nice since it's easily done afk. I got 3k done tonight. Tomorrow I'm hoping I can string them all, no guarantees though. I'll have 7k to string. I'm hoping I can get the highest xp on Runemonkey.net, yesterday was about 472k experience, and if I can finish stringing all 7k along with these 3k cut, I'll have 750k xp within the 24 hour time period. Wish me luck!

Well I did some more fletching today, only 2k bows strung, got some homework to do :( But I will get 88 Fletching tomorrow which needs a little over 3k more bows to string, then I'll alch over the weekend. Visited MTK, got these nice rewards. Switched to Flax since they're at 100 each right now for next month.

The Most Profitable Part Of The New Shop Update!
Codguy replied to Jacks0n's topic in General Discussion
Making planks definitely decreased the amount of money in the economy way more than the infinite shop items. Sure a lot of money does get used up and disappears, but Duke_Freedom I think made some nice calculations (looked good to me) about how much money was being drained the first couple of months of Construction and it was way more than this update could do. It helps, but it's nothing to Construction. -
I used the Tip.it website for a while before joining the forums, but that's because I wasn't aware of the existance of the forums at the time, lol. So it's been roughly 3 years now :)

Then I guess you will be happy to know that you're not the only person from you're time zone who sent in an application. Yay! Because I kind of hate when theres like a keylogger thread and like 30 posts go by without no response of the Modertator team. Good Luck on those who haven't got decline. Well I guess you have to report it and hope for the best that a moderator or admin will happen to cross the path of it. It happens unfortunately :(
