  1. If I pass both missions, I get full tetsu tonight.
  2. It happened to the majority of people with Gold membership, if not all of them.
  3. Bad day for Ports. No trade goods or storyline today. Then got adventurer reroll, and the new adventurers (2 of them) still had no trade goods. So 4 different adventurers and no trade goods. WTF, I don't want 700 steel, for goodness sake. So late into the Pincers, at this point, the least that they could do is make sure that adventurers always have a trade good mission.
  4. Well the wand is basically unobtainable via minigame, then. Well, someone will get it, but it probably won't be the person who looted it. Unless you happen to have some sort of huge clan or something. Though it looks nice, at least it's only level 70; so I guess that's the silver lining. They could have made it a really high level Wand and that would have just been rage-tastic.
  5. Only one thing sealed the fate of the game, and that was it's beginning. Now stop it with the RS IS GOING TO DIE IT'S KILLING THE GAME etc bullshit please. Every update is killing the game. Miniclip was the end of Runescape, remember? Face the facts, 07 version (which has less shit updates) has more players than `13 version, that tells you something doesn't it? Except it doesn't http://www.misplaced.../2007online.php Online user data scrapes for both games clearly shows they have been running around 50:50 (with 07 mostly slightly behind) until the past day or so where 07scape has gone much lower. So how about you face real numerical facts rather than making up BS 'fact' claims. I was about to post the link that you posted after I saw 100's nonsensical fantasy claim. He can safely crawl back under his bridge now.
  6. So apparently, using the FOTS after my ship had already been sent, worked. Only need 5 lacquer, 12 plates, and 20 Chi for full sets now.
  7. I felt the same way, Urza. Don't worry, you'll get there. It's very slow, tedious, and boring. But with a bit of patience you will be decked in that shiny PoP armour and them scrimshaws. Cheers.
  8. I just sent out the mission for 50 plates/lacquer with 82% success, and I forgot to put on FOTS. Darn. But after I sent out all my ships, I noticed that I could I still activate FOTS, so I did. The ship that I wanted it to be active on was in slot #1, does anyone know if it will work after all? I guess I will find out in 9 hours.
  9. Oh, so the FOTS' penalties only apply if I fail the mission? If so, then how silly of me, I have completely misunderstood the effect. If someone can confirm that for me, then yes, I have more than enough resources to forget worrying about those sorts of penalties.
  10. Also, for all of V O R K's talk about "freedoms", he fails to recognize that, as Omali (and I myself pointed out in another thread) pointed out, it's private property. Therefore, according to the premise of the "Freedom" crowd, they [Jagex] have the right to do whatever they want. I find it funny that they ["Freedom" crowd] don't recognize the tenets of their own ideologies.
  11. I am going to be doing the final Storyline reward missions very soon. I have 3 Fortune of the Seas, and obviously I plan on fitting some Merchants. Up until now, I had decided that I would use the Fortune of the Seas as well as the Merchants. Despite the fact that the few times I have used FOTS I have never gotten the penalty and always the reward, I am thinking that it might be better just to use Merchant and no FOTS? Since with just a Merchant, the reward will be 1.3, but with FOTS if I get penalties, then it would be 1.2. Any thoughts?
  12. Saradomin. His followers are vicious zealots. He seems to be quite the hypocrite. Can't see any redeeming qualities in that camp. Also, Sliske, if he ever attains Godhood. Zammy is saved for Zaros himself.
  13. Zaros is presumably in another dimension/world floating around as a Spirit. It is not clear to me, at least, that the Stone's power could be accessed from so far. Also, I'm 75% sure that Sliske is probably using the stone to secure his own Godhood rather than bring back Zaros. He seems far too treacherous to ever be faithful to anyone aside from himself.
  14. Zaros is not dead. He is incorporeal, floating in space or something, having lost most of his power.
  15. Fair enough. What I was saying was that given Zaros' history, I don't think he can ever be seen (even hypothetically) to embody those values even if we make an allowance for his own twist on 'balance'. I don't think that was always his goal. It might have been his goal after a certain point, but early on, he certainly doesn't seem to hint at such a goal. He, after all, made the rune stones, and brought other races to Gelinor, and 'shaped life' with it for quite some time. He went out of his way to do those things, so I don't think they can be described as "Laissez-faire". It was only after many years that he began to loath himself and feel guilty for having become that which he loathed (a god). It was also after quite some time and interaction with the mortals that he decided that he didn't want to be worshiped or inspire cults after him. From my understanding, Guthix's antipathy towards God rule comes from having witnessed both God Wars and the destruction that the Gods have typically left in their path. I think that's fairly logical. Yes perhaps the qualifications of 'by definition' and 'inherently' were too strong, so I would replace that with usually. Empires can play a progressive role, and achieve great things, but expansion (particularly in the case of large empires) usually implies the things I mentioned previously. I don't think it is a stretch at all for to me assume that not everyone who Zaros came across wanted to worship him/join him, and that he would be willing to use and indeed did use force to submit them to his will. In fact, according to the lore, Zaros waged war on the Khandirian lands -- again I can't see that as too peaceful. The lore also speaks of his conquest during the 2nd Age. Again, conquest usually means forcibly submitting others to your will and eradicating those who will not do so. An Empire may be peaceful after it has solidified control, but the construction of large empires usually requires pretty violent things. I should also add that I am saying all of this without any value judgment. I am not trying to say empires are evil (in real life history, many have accomplished marvelous things) but what I am trying to say is that they usually require things that most people would not consider 'peaceful'. Dominion and subjugation are certainly somewhat subjective terms, they are usually employed by the victims of empire; for such people, it is obviously a bad thing. If they weren't bad things, such people would obviously not try to color the existing power relations with such negative connotations.
  16. I don't see how a successful empire can be conflated with balance. Furthermore, in Guthixian terms, the rule of Gods itself is pretty unbalancing (something Guthix spends most of his life trying to prevent), so I can't see how one particular God being so dominant would be balancing in any sense. Guthix certainly wants independent mortals, but his view can hardly be described as 'laissez-faire'. His impact and interaction with Gelinor is far too extensive and deep to be called laissez-faire at this point. All the God conquerors (save for Bandos perhaps) reward their followers with a certain kind of peace and freedom but I don't think Zaros is particularly interested in promoting 'freedom' or even 'peace' in a general sense. Forming large empires inherently requires mass murder, subjugation, dominion, and the cultural extinction of all those who oppose your way. An empire, by definition, cannot be peaceful. Zaros' war credentials are well established at this point; he had to break quite a few eggs to form the giant omelet that was his empire. So I don't think it's fair to associate him with either peace, or freedom, or balance. --- Also I have been thinking about a lore thread for a while too.
  17. I don't think Zaros has anything to do with restoring balance. If anything, he had dominated for far too long and it was his downfall which actually restored balance by shifting power away from him and dispersing it through the other Gods (though ultimately Saradomin). Also, although they are going for the whole 'it isn't black and white, it's gray, and all the Gods have their own perspective" shtick at this point, I think Zaros certainly seems to have an evil side to him. The Lord of Empty promises, and his seduction of the Dragon-Riders (and subsequently leading them to their extinction) certainly seems to be unsavory. I do think Guthix was more balance than laissez-faire, and I don't think there's really a law vs order axis coming along.
  18. And as a community, we have the freedom - if not the right - to determine what activities we will allow in our domain and how to shape our collective destiny.
  19. I am fairly certain that historically there have been informal methods of gambling between individuals. If we are talking about Medieval times, then the elite probably had ostentatious bets as well. Also, the point remains: the charge levied against Flowers was not that they were somehow inconsistent with the Fantasy genre, but rather that they were a particularly disruptive form of gambling with a host of other issues.
  20. Azzanadra. Power, and dedication, unlike any other; he's just an all around badass. Sliske is one of those guys who is supposed to be interesting, cunning, devious and some sort of ambition trickster, but for some reason I can never perceive him as Jagex wants me to perceive him (as far as as ambitious trickster goes). He doesn't really come off as a troll to me, which is what he is supposed to be, particularly in TWW. He just comes off to me as a ruthless schemer motivated by self-interest.
  21. With regards to this, it's basically a case of "Person A's word and E-Rep" VS. "Person B's word and E-Rep". Since I don't know either person, I am suspending judgment. The picture hardly proves anything. I thought you were joking at first when you insisted he pay Patr1ck, but apparently not. It's ridiculous to suggest such a thing, as Vann's remark was obviously within a time-frame. He was obviously expressing disagreement for being muted despite not violating any of the contemporary rules (as of the time of that post and his mute) - hence why his comment/offer to pay someone 100M if they could prove that it was against the rules or TOS. At the time of his post and the incident, it wasn't. Vann certainly does not owe Patr1ck 100M.
  22. I have always assumed Zammy's betrayal of Zaros to be motivated by ambition and self-interest; and just the general will-to-power found in the Mahjarrat rather than some stark ideological difference between him and Zaros. Zammy has also been portrayed as some sort of 'pretender'; he did usurp Zaros's power and status afterall. In other words, an inferior copy of sorts. The comparison that you made to the Roman Empire and the will to dominate/control everything does make the theme Control sound more plausible, but aren't most of the younger Gods like that? Saradomin, Zammy, and Bandos seem pretty hell bent on taking whatever territories they can and amassing as much followers as possible. But yes, Zaros does have a Monarch/Empire theme going on, now that you mention it. As for visting the Mahjarrat home-world, I don't mind such a thing, but only if it's done well. They hinted at something similar with the Naragi homeworld, but to me, that sounds like being able to use the fairy ring and getting to see some nice scenery - which is nice, but I would prefer the introduction of another World to have some viable content. Perhaps some monsters to kill, a few shops to visit, that sort of stuff. I am most interested in the next mortal to ascend to Godhood. They have teased it in a few places and the fan favourite is probably Sliske, but I think it could be someone else as well.
  23. The shitstorm over TWW was not because there was a delay, but why there was a delay. All they'd have to do to avoid such a scenario again is to get their priorities straight and not flagrantly lie to their players. Easy enough. I found the God of Control answer to be troubling. In what sense is Zaros the God of Control? If anything, he seems to be a much more unadulterated and untainted version of everything Zammy is. Darkness? Chaos? Power/Strength? All the other God Wars' Gods are absolutely terrified of him. Sure, I could buy any of those. But Control seems to be out of nowhere. The Control moniker fits Saradomin more, to be honest. Saradomin has already demonstrated some controlling tendencies, and he's already the God of Order, which is one step removed from 'Control'.
  24. The circumstances surrounding his mute seem strange. From that video, his version seems to be that he hasn't done anything wrong this time.
  25. I am somewhat weary of these lores. On one hand it's great that they seem to be seriously fleshing out the details, on the other hand they're such teases. Here's all this interesting stuff, but it isn't actually part of the game in any meaningful sense yet. But don't worry, keep your eyes out, we will doing stuff in the "coming months". That sort of means diddly squat. They might remember to actually do something, they might not. They might remember all the details they are purporting to explore, they might not. It might be this year, or it might not. What I'd really like is a rough time line of some future quests. Nothing extremely definitive, but maybe something like "you can expect a Master Quest in June-July dealing with Sliske/Dragonkin"; something of that sort. Right now it just feels as if instead of actually playing with real content we are just reading stories on the forums - which I do enjoy doing, but I need content, damnit!
