  1. Right. Obama is a complete Socialist and wants to implement Communism into America. Get over yourself.
  2. Slipknot didn't exactly meet my expectations with their new album. I guess that's what happens when you try to follow up an album produced by Rick Rubin. Same with The Mars Volta on De-Loused. They haven't used him since and haven't put out an album as good as that one. And please, Kid Rock is an absolute disgrace to music. By the way, he not only pays sacrilege to "Sweet Home Alabama", but even goes as far as insulting "Werewolves In London" with his lack of musical talent. Kid Rock has followed the trends of music for his whole career. I.E.: He was rapping when the Limp Bizkit era was prime, he was rock when that started to come around, and now he's country when it's getting more popular. He's a complete sell out and a horrible artist. Kid Rock should be on the list of top 25 worst artists of all time. God I hate him so much.
  3. There was a Drum Line forums site I used to frequent around a year ago and they had a program that you could use to take your unused CPU usage donate it. The CPU usage went towards cancer research. It was a pretty cool thing.
  4. Alright I'll try my best to list a few. Right In Two by Tool-- I think this song was the sleeper song of 10,000 Days and possibly one of Tool's biggest sleeper songs that they've ever written. It's a lamenting song about humanity and how cruel we are to each other. The song itself almost seems to be a cascading tale of human time from the simple (although I could hardly consider 11/8 a simple song) tabla drumming Carey employs to the quiet and mysterious clean duo of guitar and bass and making it all the way to the end with the massive churning drum, guitar, and bass breakdown that all comes back together with Maynard's wailing sadly about how terrible humans are to each other. This song continually gives me chills. [hide=Lyrics] [/hide] Roulette Dares (The Haunt Of) by The Mars Volta-- I don't know what else can really be said about this song unless you have listened to it. The Mars Volta implied a lot of 3/4 time signatures on their debut LP De-Loused In the Comatorium which gives it quite a unique feel. Jon Theodore's unique style of drumming, which is so simple but amazingly affective, really adds the life to this song, and you'll never be able to get that hook out of your head: "Exoskeletal, junction at the railroad delayed!". Take The Power Back by Rage Against the Machine-- This song really tells the tale of how the "history" we get in our school systems is quite filtered and very European biased ("Europe; Ain't my rope to swing on. Can't learn a thing from it, yet we hang from it!"). This song only fuels my drive to become a history teacher even more. It's time to take the power back. Time by Pink Floyd-- Of course I could pretty much classify the entire Dark Side of The Moon album as one amazing suite, but if I had to pick one song, it would definitely be Time. The poetic genius of Waters and Gilmour is really shown well here. The song is a lament on how our lives our ours to live, we just have to take it into our own hands and do it. At any point in your life, you can begin to take hold of your own destiny and live your life. If you haven't, you should also give their album Animals a listen to, it's great as well and hardly gets the attention it deserves. Upward Over the Mountain by Iron and Wine-- Sam Beam hardly gets the respect that he deserves for his AMAZING songwriting ability. I would easily throw him in with Dylan as one of the best lyricists and musicians of all time. His use of imagery, especially in this song, is rivaled by none (note the part in the chorus where he pauses on "So may the sun....rise bring hope where it once was forgotten" Just genius!). This song is a sad tale of a son parting with his mother. He's trying to convince her that everything will be alright and that he hasn't forgotten about her and never will. The verses seem to be the testimonial from the son to the mother while the choruses are Beam's views that sons will always come back to their mothers for the support that they need in life ("Sons are like birds; Taken broken up to the mountain"). and finally... 10,000 Days and Wings For Marie (10,000 Days pt. 2) by Tool-- I won't even list one thing about this song. If you haven't listened these songs, take 20 minutes, put some isolation headphones on, pull up the lyrics and listen to them.
  5. That's just disgusting. Why would you do that? You complain that people get offended over nothing and then you act as if your actions were 'nothing'. If anyone should have been sent home on Halloween, it should have been you for doing that.
  6. Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day. You fritter and waste the hours in off hand way.
  7. I work at a massive fireworks store in the summers, I can internationally ship some of our best sellers to you English if you'd like. All I ask is your soul and first born.
  8. I could never date a girl who uses the phrase "Oh my gawwwd" more than once per day. I need a girl that can think for herself and can form her own opinions about things. I definitely could never date a girl that wears UGG boots because of how ridiculously stupid they are. I prefer darker haired girls to lighter haired, but I really don't discriminate when it comes down to it. I'd take an average girl over a hot girl any day if she can think for herself. That's my biggest hook.
  9. Remember remember the Fifth of November.
  10. Every night is a bonfire night in Wisconsin unless it's raining.

    Sick

I was sick last night and threw up for the first time in ages and the first time from drinking. I drank a water bottle full of Ron Diaz then decided to make the trek to the gas station with my buddy to get a tin of chew. We chewed half the tin then went to the last minute and a half of a high school football game that was being played on campus. Went back to the house and I smoked about a bowl to myself out of a bong. Went back to my dorm, messed up as hell and decided that I should eat 3 Nutty Bars and 2 mini Butterfingers. Bad move after chewing (it makes me want to throw up, but is good when you're drunk). The nice chocolate aftertaste when it was all coming back up was lovely.
  12. This is what I was getting at in my post.
  13. I think that IF Obama wins, and IF he does a good job bringing this country out of the hole that it is in, you might see that number drop significantly.
  14. Wisconsin will own your souls for pretty snow pictures. Just wait until I go home for break in December.
  15. Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.
  16. There is no way to be a 100% Atheist... There is no way that any of us can prove that god exists or does not exist. However, that doesn't mean that both of those statements are in equality. It is certainly much more improbable that a god does NOT exist than for a god to exist. We cannot not know for sure that there is no god, but what we can do is say that there certainly is a very high probability that there is no god. Agnostic we all are, many of us at the closest we can be to Atheism.
  17. Haha it's kind of funny, I couldn't tell the difference before I stumbled upon the "Earbuds" thread in MM&TV forum, but now after reading it, I can really tell the difference. I have a pair of KOSS surround sound headphones and some extremely nice Bose speakers that I have for my laptop. When I go out with my iPod, I use the normal 'buds that came with it and I can tell the difference. I can't justify listening to half of my music on there because they really don't do it justice for sound quality.
  18. The reason Twain uses the "N" word so often in the book was to show how ignorant racism was. Twain was absolutely against racism and oppression and felt that this was a way of poking fun at it. A lot of uneducated people nowadays think that Twain was being racist and that all of Huck Finn was about promoting racism. They're dead wrong and need to do some research. I read this book my junior year of high school and every time we came upon the "N" word, we just replaced it with "slave", which is was the applicable term in the time period the book takes place.
  19. As much as I think that it's doubtful, it is a possibility, and right now, it looks like Iran might be the next North Korea. I just do not like the way Bush dealt with the American public on his misinformation even after we all found out there weren't any WMDs in Iraq. Alliances with other countries: absolutely. What I was really trying to stress was that I don't believe we should be intervening on smaller world issues (Vietnam, Iraq, Korea, etc.). Our country is definitely capable of intervening, but it is not in our best interest to intervene and create tension around the world and future tension with that country.
  20. Well first off, I'm going to trust a RAND survey over your teachers. Yes the United Nations has messed up and not completed the job on certain occasions, but so have we (Vietnam comes to mind). The comment about the WMDs is irrelevant. Iraq was being monitored for years after the Gulf War, and even after we captured Saddam, we have found no WMDs. 5 years of occupying every part of a country and there are no WMDs. You'd think that a collective U.S., UK, and UN effort would yield some WMDs if there really are any. Now the the Neutrality Proclamation. The Proclamation of Neutrality only came about because of the French Revolution. All of the founders agreed that neutrality was an American stance that needed to be kept. Some even thought it was so obvious that it didn't need to be written down. But because of the recent American Revolution, ties with Great Britain needed to be severed completely. Congress decided that they should establish that they remained neutral in the French Revolution to the rest of the world. Also, Washington is credited with the stance on being non-interventionist, but it was actually Thomas Paine who first came up with the idea in his famous work, Common Sense. The United States is not trying to achieve an isolationist view, but rather a non-interventionist policy. This does not mean we sit by ourselves and forget the rest of the world, but instead, we have trade and commerce with other countries. The only time we should be involved in a militaristic way would be if we were attacked. There were many protesters to America's involvement in World War 2 prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor. Americans as far back as this country has been around have been striving for non-interventionism. In my opinion, in the last half of the 20th century and into the 21st century, America has gotten away from that perspective and I believe that is why we are having so many international problems lately and in our near past.
  21. I'd have to agree that Aenima is their best. The change from Undertow and Opiate to Aenima is absolutely groundbreaking. Although Aenima has some of my favorite songs, some of my favorite themes definitely come from Lateralus. Hell what am I saying, I could never pick a favorite album. I like all of their stuff, but Aenima is definitely the best place to start.
  22. That's plenty of people. My band was 69 members my senior year which included at least 10 front ensemble (pit percussion), 8 color guard, and 7 battery line. This year they were 80 kids strong. You don't need a big group to play that music, especially not the Phantom show. If you guys can get the money, having a show like that will not only improve your musicianship, but it will improve your whole program. My band started marching for the first time competitively in the fall of 2003 and earned a 58 total score and dead last at state. By the time I was a senior we hit 75 and were State Champions. This year, nearly 80 points. I've seen bands with 50 members or less put on a good show. The two shows I put out there for you are pretty solid shows for small bands. I'm just suggesting that you stay away from rock shows as much as you can. They might be fun for in the stands, but they have no place on the field ;)
