I'm not trying to be a jerk and don't get me wrong, it's great to have friends that you care about, but if you're hanging around with suspected terrorists, it's just asking to get picked up by the government. You're walking on some pretty thin eggshells there, man.

Oh my "attacks" on jack, huh? Could you name a few of them for me, please? Last time I checked I was formulating arguments that made sense and had evidence to back them up (something he has not done yet). If you want to accuse me of embarrassing him then, well, guilty as charged. If anyone is a troll here, it's jack. Apparently you do not read these boards enough, because I'm pretty sure I have never trolled in my life. There seems to be an epidemic of people accusing another person's viewpoint as being from /b/, being a troll, or being a flame if it doesn't agree with theirs. I have a different opinion on what happened on 9/11 and the aftermath. It also surprises me that you have "friends" on the suspected terrorist list. Might want to start hanging out with a different crowd.

I got offered a pretty amazing job, i'm lost though.

For sure, but I find it to be the most rewarding job. I get to work with the nation's youth, and I get to teach them about their history and how to learn from it. I find teaching to be well worth the lack of pay. -
Actually this was made to discuss how we feel about 9/11. Almost all the things our country has done in the past 7 years have been directly related to 9/11. It's a big category.

What is in boldface and italicized print is what I fixed for you. Again. I'm just laughing at the fact that you are this ridiculously patriotic. I think it has to be a joke... The Bush Administration and people like you have been trying to keep people like myself quiet for 8 years. Well here's the news: You won't shut me up and you can't dumb me down.

They might want a lawyer during interrogation, but I think you're forgetting that WE'RE AT WAR. These people, whether suspected or caught in the act, are the ENEMY. As for giving them lawyers and rights, I think you forget that the constitution only applies to U.S. citizens. Or at least it used to before the Supreme Court decided to legislate from the bench. I guess you like the idea of increasing these peoples' chances of getting back out in the world where they can make more bombs and blow more people up. Tell me. Why, in the past 7 years, have we not been hit with another terrorist attack if not for the fact that the Bush administration is doing what it's supposed to and getting rid of those who would LOVE to come blow more of us to smithereens. Oh, and let me guess. You're an Obama supporter, aren't you? That's nice because it's not like he's a good friend of a CONVICTED TERRORIST who says he WISHES HE'D DONE MORE, or anything. :wall: As for conspriacies as a whole, watch this. It's got quite a bit of cussing in it, but they make some great points. Wow...I don't think enough facepalm pictures could possibly be posted to show how much of a tool you are. I'll try to address these issues in an orderly manner. It's not the fact that they are the enemy or not, but to not give them a fair trial is unjust. Regardless of what side they are on, they deserve a chance to plead their case. What they don't deserve is to be tortured, interrogated ruthlessly, and mentally abused in order to get information. I think there was some convention in Geneva that dealt with those issues... Tell me why, aside from 1993, we haven't been attacked on U.S. soil since Pearl Harbor. http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0001454.html We're no closer to catching the so called "master-mind" behind the 9/11 attacks, so in my eyes both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars ARE COMPLETE FAILURES. As long as Bin-Laden is still alive, he can orchestrate anything he wants to. Bush has single-handedly ruined our country. Let me give you a chart to show you how he has ruined this country. Oh and let me guess. You associate my un-patriotic ideas with Democrats. Really, I congratulate you, you make jackattack sound like a prophet =D> If you really wanted to know, I'm Apathetic. When Ron Paul dropped out of the race, I found there to be no choice in the election. I'm actually quite apposed to the two-party system. It leaves us no choice aside from Democrat or Republican. Which in turn means that we will never be able to change our system unless there is a complete government overthrow. Also commonly known as a revolution. And to think...someday you will be out voting... :|

Am I the only one that laughed when I read those lyrics? It's just getting pathetic now.

Actually since most of them were let go and very few were charged, I think you should have referred to them as *suspected* terrorists, because all prisoners at Guantanamo Bay were just that: SUSPECTED. And of course they would want a lawyer present during interrogation. Lawyers know which questions are loaded or which can be used to twist the truth (obviously you did not watch the video I posted which clearly shows how that can happen). I'm starting to think you would have fit right in with the Bush Administration.

You know I honestly do like you as a poster, but what the hell are you talking about? College is extremely worth it. Not only do you learn 500x more than you ever will in high school, but your views on life, society, government, and scores of other things change. You learn to be accepting of other people. College life isn't all about partying (although it can be fun to do that, which I do). It's about finding yourself and finding your place in the world. You'll understand when you go, that's all I can really say to you at this point. College is an amazing experience both educationally and personally. -

Oh so since my opinion disagrees with your opinion (which clearly stated by you is better than mine) I shouldn't express it? I'm not flaming him whatsoever, just stating that I thought that it was a poorly written article. I had no idea that it was a guest author, and a lot of the time, I dislike when the Editor does columns. If I have an opinion on something, I'm going to express it. I actually think I could write a far better article or short summary than this author, but I'd rather not waste my time writing something about RuneScape. Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Literary_technique Here's a list of literary techniques. Granted many of these are not applicable to the style (creative non-fiction) that the author is using, I doubt more than 2 of these were used in the article. -
What I'm speaking of is very much related to 9/11. I think the fact that our government is detaining people on just a "suspicion" that they are terrorists is absolutely terrible. If there isn't evidence in the first place, they shouldn't be detained. You're wrong about them getting lawyers. Here's evidence: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2004/feb/20/politics.terrorism They may get lawyers during the TRIALS, but to not have a lawyer present during interrogation and torture is the point I was trying to make. Those are the most important times. You can get a suspect to say anything if they don't have a lawyer present. Just ask the seasoned veteran defense attorney James Duane. I've watched this whole video (both parts) and know my rights. I doubt you know yours. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8z7NC5sgik http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/rightsandfreedoms/a/habeuscorpus.htm OH NO! Could you be....wrong? With all these points brought up and with factual evidence, unlike ALL of your arguments, why don't you just take a seat.

Wow. You obviously don't know anything about writing or composition at all. A great writer can turn nothing into an amazing piece with style alone. If you want to write something respectable, it needs to follow the guidelines. Now that isn't to say that each thing you write has to be from the same stock, though. I think you're in need of a University level writing course, possibly even a high school composition class. Talk to some authors and tell them what you have to say about writing, I'd be interested to hear their responses. -
Are you sure that those two examples are the only things that have happened since 9/11? I love your factual evidence that is put behind them as well. Maybe if you understood the constitution a little better, you'd see why those are atrocities. I've said it before, but I don't care if someone is suspected of terrorism or not, if they are a citizen of the United States, they deserve to be backed by the constitution in their private matters. Yet since 9/11, the government has taken that away from them. What about the suspension of Habeas Corpus? In other words, the government can hold suspected terrorists, without trial, for as long as they desire in captivity. Oh yeah and I forgot one other thing: They don't get lawyers either. Sounds like the table is tilted just a little bit, don't you think? I think that if you really try hard, you can see where these actions are going, but I doubt you're willing to think outside of the box. Those red, white, and blue blinders you have on seem to fit you pretty well. Here's a little reading material for you. http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200409/s1195161.htm Imagine how many more could be out there that they have illegally detained.

Yeah, if you go into college without a plan on what you want to do. For me college is definitely NOT over-rated at all. I'm studying to become a history teacher and college is the only way to become one. And another thing, I'm pretty damn sure that college is more expensive than your $20,000 estimate. I'm at St. Cloud State (a public university) and I pay nearly $13,000 per year with room and board. Not to be an [wagon], but I don't think anyone who is still in high school has a place telling others what college is like. -

Well it seems to me that since Bush in the pockets of most of the major oil companies, he'd have a great reason to plan this. Oil prices soar, oil companies make record profits, and Bush and his criminal friends profit from the oil companies' success. There are things about the towers collapsing that are still fishy to me, but at least we have evidence that planes actually hit them. Then again it wouldn't be the first time the country killed its own civilians to support a personal agenda. After 9/11 we relinquished some of the freedoms we had in exchange for the illusion of security, when in reality, we are no more secure than we were pre-9/11. Maybe if you took off the red, white, and blue glasses you seem to be looking through, you MIGHT see some of the atrocities that are happening in this country, and maybe that might make you think about the government a little differently. Edit: So I watched like 30 seconds of that video for kicks and they put a picture of Jesus crying in there? Come on...

You realize you probably killed it because of it being so scared for six hours.

Funny you should mention this, last night a few of my friends were wandering around campus (high of course) trying to catch this squirrel that was running away from us. It ended in the squirrel getting away and us laying on the ground for 15 minutes in a laughing fit.

First of all, way to correct my first spelling mistake in probably over a year on here. I suppose that I'll keep correcting you on your ever increasing moronic logic if you take care of my spell-check duties in the near future. Thanks in advance. But to the main point of this, I do not believe the government worked with anyone on this. Anyone with some scientific background and minimal observational skills can tell that the "plane" that crashed into the Pentagon was definitely NOT a plane. Like stated in the Alex Jones movies, all the government has to do to get me on their side is release pictures with the actual plane in the picture instead of just a few explosion pictures. By the way, I think Alex Jones is quite moronic (ironically he reminds me a lot of you) in his documentary and I don't believe half the things that are said in it. But if you step back from the whole situation and instead of looking at the tragedy and heroic pictures the government is painting for us, you look at the aftermath and all the things that have fallen into place because of it, you'll understand. I guess I can't say anything else besides that. Maybe witnessing the government lying to us for almost the entire last century makes me skeptical of believing anything they tell me.

No, I'm pretty sure that it wasn't the author at all, just that the article WASN'T WELL WRITTEN. I don't care if the author was Aldous Huxley, if it isn't well written, I'm not going to praise it. There was very little material in the article, it wasn't colorful at all, and it didn't even have a hook. -

This was just...terrible. Almost no discussion value comes out of this at all. -
Ok really, these sudo-patriotic bits you're posting are getting quite annoying. Everyone knows the "story" of 9/11 and all of the heroic acts that *apparently* happened. I don't believe any of those phone calls were real from the planes, and I also don't believe the planes other than the WTC were terrorist controlled.
