  1. I suspect there will be 'safe areas' that can be accessed like banks or minigames, but can't be used in combat to prevent kiting and abuse of the system. Hopefully popular teleport spots will be safe too to prevent people from spawn camping.
  2. Sounds interesting. I hope it involves construction... we don't have very many high level construction quests, and I LIKE to show off my wealth! :D
  3. Wow. This is FREAKING awesome. I actully have been wanting generated loot for PvP for a while. It solves RWT but still gives a reason to PK. The only possible problem would be people intentionally losing to farm items, but i'm sure Jagex will think of something to counteract this. Hopefully.
  4. I agree that firemaking needs a serious buff, because it's really only useful for quests right now. And anyone that yells at you because you're burning yew logs is an idiot.
  5. People like these are the main reason, in my opinion, that most people look down on Runescape, seeing only the bad out of all the good.
  6. Well, this sucks. My dad's credit card expired and had to be renewed a week after the price changes.... I just happened to run out of membership during that time, and I have to pay the new price... I hate timing. :wall:
  7. No world yet, but I think there are some players trying to start one. I can't remember where, though. Sorry. :(
  8. I'm a bit worried that this could cause some problems, IE, people making accounts just to spam "RS sux lolz lolz lolz" and the like. It shouldn't be too much of a problem, but still...
  9. UPDATE! I found this picture of T.S. Church on wikipedia! I dunno about you guys, but it looks pretty real to me!
  10. You know, going by what high ranked people on a game say isn't the best choice imo for judging a book.... I might get it sometime after a few credible sources give it some good reviews, which i'm sure it will get.... You see, i'm in the middle of re-reading one of Piers Anthony's series, (Incarnations of Immortality, for those of you who care.) thus I would have no reason to start a new book in the middle of this one. Oh yeah, how big is the font? :P
  11. Extreme dissapointment. Not only did JaGeX completely mislead us in the dev diaries and BTS, (for example, the BTS claims that the chaos tunnels are a great place to fight with your familiar and speed your way to the summoning skillcape, when we don't even get exp from fighting with them..) but we've basically been given 'pouchcrafting'. There is no fun in running back and forth between a bank and an obelisk. We already do that with runecrafting. In addition to this, despite what Jagex says, making money off this skill is nearly impossible. Noone wants to buy scrolls- they can easily make them themselves. With the exeption of a few familiars, nearly every familiar is close to useless. They are so limited in combat, the only possible use for them might be 'boss' monsters- but to even get familiars that are EFFECTIVE at that level, you need to spend millions into the skill. It takes my dreadfowl at LEAST 9 seconds to start attacking, and even then, the monsters that I want to fight for money are so high leveled compared to it, it even doing DAMAGE is rare. Plus, there's the fact that you can only use them in multicombat, which is both ridiculous and extremely limited. My familiars are based on my power- I spent the money and inventory space to get this familiar, so why can't I use it wherever I want? Summoning was advertised as 'the best skill ever' to attract quitting players back into the game. In my opinion, this skill is the WORST skill ever. I don't mind a hard skill- but what Jagex has done here is created an expensive, slower, and less rewarding RCing. Unless some serious changes are made, I don't plan on leveling this skill... (which kind of sucks for me, since i've wanted a pet dragon ever since I learned about cats..)
  12. It's fairly useless in this situation- it makes them back up about 5 steps... and then proceed to keep attacking you.
  13. Nice find! If it can't break even or make a profit, it will at least reduce the summoning cost by a large amount.
  14. Warning, long read- Alright- my only problem with summoning is two-fold: Firstly, training the skill has nothing to do with the actual summoning- it's comparable to runecrafting. You get the pouches, shards, charms and reagents, (essence) go to an obelisk (altar) and bind them all and run to the bank and repeat. Theoretically, you can train to 99 summoning without summoning a single beast.. (with the exeption of the Spirit Wolf in wolf whistle). When I train 'Summoning', I want to be fighting side-by side with a familiar, or chopping logs with it. This skill is more like 'Pouch Binding'. You aren't actully summoning to train- you're just creating massive amounts of pouches to be sold off in the wind. (or more likely to be turned into scrolls.) My second problem is that of charms. Charms have two flaws- they are untradeable, and the time it takes to gather them is extremely long. My soulutions? Firstly, make familiars able to be used in single combat- they are an extention of your power, (similarily to prayer) and are basically an 'attack bonus'- like using a stat-boosting potion or prayer. Secondly, let us gain xp for fighting/doing skills with familiars. It would be so much more fun to actully be using our familiars in combat rather than just running back and forth from an obelisk. Thirdly, have our familiars automatically attack when we attack something.. it is VERY annoying having to wait 8 seconds for your familiar to start attacking- usually I can kill my training monsters by then. Possibly even add some management controls? IE, when you have a familiar out, add a new right click option to have your pet attack a target- would be interesting to have your pet tank for you on a DK trip- no need for suiciders! Fourthly, and finnally, increase the quantity of charm drops. The number needed to work on the skill is incredibly high- you get so few per trip, it's just not worth it. Now, before you start flaming me, I am NOT complaining about it's cost. I merely want an alternative to getting up levels than running back and forth between a bank and an obilisk. Look at construction- you can either get to 99 the fast and expensive way, or the long and cheap way- that's what i'm looking for here. My only qualms about the length of the skill, are, as I said, the charm drops. The current rate of obtaining charms is EXTREMELY slow. I'm not asking for another fletching- but I would prefer if it was on the level of.. say, smithing, on the hardness scale. What we have now is just... evil. I also have not said anything about shard costs- that's not my point- my point is to, rather than decrease the cost, add an alternative to the shards that takes longer, but is oh-so much cheaper. I will add a supporters list when I get supporters. ;)
  15. I agree. Increase the number of charms we get by a TON and this skill would be OH so much more fun.
  16. Lol at the 'need free wolf bones' in the chat box. Although I wouldn't blame him... as with any new release like this, the spots to get what you need/ect. are packed... He probobly didn't know about the wolves in rellekka... hehe..
  17. Sprout_teh_druid replied to muggiwhplar's topic in Rants
Yes, but noone buys them. Plus, after you use your initial charms, you need to go grind combat for more. You can't even buy them.

I agree. If we could actully gain XP from combat, and shard prices were reduced, this skill would be oh-so more fun to train. When I heard of summoning, I thought of summoning a beast to fight by your side and raise your level while working on other skills. What I got was a near-pointless skill that costs an incredible amount of money to train, is useless in combat, (it takes your familiar about 9 seconds to even start attacking...) and takes an extrememly long time to level. I wanted to train summoning by working on other skills with the assistance of a familiar- not running back and forth from a bank making tons and tons of useless items. We already have skills that do that- why do we need another? My suggestion is: Make a right click option on monsters to 'attack with familiar', or make familiars automatically attack things that you attack. Make familiars availible to be used out of multicombat Make the primary means of gaining exp to be using them in combat/skilling. Make shards less expensive... 20 per would be fine. And make charms drop more quantities, and be tradeable. Oh yes- and what happened to karmathulu? Why are we summoning it with a FISHBOWL? What's the use of the actual squid thing?
  19. Meh, I've made worse mistakes. And something tells me this is related to Summoning... I wonder.. You think EVERYTHING is related to summoning... XD
  20. This is the classic battle between quantity and quality- it really depends- Members has AoE spells and items, but F2p has more players... there's also the fact that there aren't THAT many F2pers playing at one time- I don't think that there would be all 8 million F2pers on at the same time fighting. But yeah. Most of those F2p accounts are also just lowbies that played and quit. Members would probobly win. Though I don't want it to happen in the first place.
  21. I'm actully hoping for a Taverly one... with summoning coming and all, it seems that there will be a lot of new things to do there.. besides, my house is there, and it'll give me some more stuff to do... XD
  22. I agree- and because it takes such a long expensive time to even get up to that level of construction, the rewards should be heavily improved... However, perhaps a 'you can only win the treasure once every x minutes' type thing wouldn't harm too much.
  23. There, I changed the name. :P
  24. While it's noone's responsibility to repair or bless gravestones, personally, I would have repaired/blessed it. The only possible reason not to would be if you wanted to conserve prayer points- which shouldn't really be that big of a deal. He however, was rather snobbish about it, which was rather rude..
  25. If that's true, we'll need to update the construction tables, I need to know how much each chest holds for house-building purposes... XD
