Junk Trading: Acceptable, Practical Practice?
Hobnjall replied to benar's topic in General Discussion
Junk trading is useful in emergencies. My clan uses addie javelins for trade sticks. We had an impromptu birthday party for a mate, and fished for a couple of hours to help him get to 99 fishing. One clannie wanted to contribute a *ton* of monks, and had to go. I traded him stuff like 2 dlongs, rune weapons, and addie javs and stuff just because he had to go. I'm poor, and don't carry that kind of money in my bank. But I had the assets to cover. Sometimes you do what you have to in a tight spot. -
Hiyez. I'm only lvl 87, and of diverse skills (I do it all meself) and I'm preparing for summoning by doing all the quests I haven't finished that give lamps and tomes and keeping them until summoning comes out. Not a real fast bonus, since most tomes and lamps are 2500 to 5000 xp, but it will give me a little boost. And I've not done a lot of quests since *they drive me nuts*. And thank you, Tip Iters for the excellent quest guides. Otherwise, I might not have done very many at all. Maybe I'll go mine more pure ess, since it is always useful, and I could do with more laws and nats. But that's it for me. And we really have very small clues on the summoning skill requirements, at all. Good luck all, eh? Seeyez.

Multi-Site Steel War 3 (Dec 8, 2pm Est)
Hobnjall replied to dustin's topic in Tip.Iters Events, Groups, and Teams
All right, all right! No returning. I was just asking. Mercy, please. I just wanted to rush back with better weapons. All right, no return. Not to worry. I'll just bring mine best to the start of the event. No worries. I didn't mean to get youse all riled up. Mercy. Calm down, eh? Be there or be an ugly rectangular thing, eh? Seeyez. -

Hiyez. Got mine green cape, full steel, mith (crush) weapons, lots of food. What else can a body bring? What else will be needed? And can we come back after we are killed? (I expect to die (a lot)). Seeyez. -
Tip.it needs YOU (insert Uncle Sams pointy finger)
Hobnjall replied to Ts_Stormrage's topic in General Discussion
No returning?! What?! If returning is prohibited, of course I will respect the prohibition, but *Why* can't we change clothes and rush back? Crud. I've made 6 suits of steel, and 6 sets of mithril hammers. Crud. I was hoping to rush back to the fight. Please clarify if we may rejoin the event. Thankee. Ignorant Hobnjall. -
Look here, I am malleable. (actually, I'm Hobnjall) I'll follow any TipIter who is sensible. You tell me who to attack on the event day, and what squad I'm in, and it will be done until I'm dead. And I have made six sets of armour for this event. We are allowed to come back, right? Clarification would be nice. Who the heck are these others that we should worry about? We attack as told to, kill, and await next instructions while killing anything not wearing a green cape. What did I misunderstand? Hobnjall, sort of puzzled, but really invigorated at the opportunity. Killem! Thankee.

Multi-Site Steel War 3 (Dec 8, 2pm Est)
Hobnjall replied to dustin's topic in Tip.Iters Events, Groups, and Teams
Hiyez. I've got me a green cape in Canifis, and I've forged me a few sets of full steel. I'll bring a good weapon (prolly rune 2h). If I get killed early, I'll come back with a rune long and my rune defender, since they won't get the defender if I die. TipIt is so very good that we have to work hard to win this one. Someone else has top honours? That is not acceptable! Seeyez there. Or be an ugly rectangular thingie. -
Tip.it Times Presents: I could do that job so much better!
Hobnjall replied to MPM's topic in General Discussion
Hiyez. Good read, and good points. I've been a game developer, and understand. I am currently a player, and I understand. You can please some people all the time, some people *none* of the time, and try to make things work mostly for everybody. Ban all of the 'bots? Not even a faint chance if you have an open player base. They *will* be just as fast and aggressive as you are, if your game can in any way make a profit for them. These are people who will work for thirty cents an hour, for mercy's sake! Those who pay for gold just show they are not willing to play the game. And updates? Updates? The game works! You have no knowlege of games that do not work! I've played games that you invest 70 hours in, and then it crashes for no reason you can discern. Try again and it crashes again! Have you any concept of how many bytes this game contains? Get it all correct? Are you insane? We are incredibly lucky that Jagex is willing to correct the flight of seagulls (maybe an easy fix, but *they are paying attention*). I have paid to play games where they just don't care, play or don't, and they don't care. And subscription fees? I'm proud to pay a minimal five bucks (U.S. $5.00) to play this game. The population has topped one million, but I'd *love* to find out how many paying members they have. And may they get many more, say I. Whiners, just go hide for a while, eh? Hobnjall, just a player, tired of complaints. Seeyez. -
World 70: The *official* ZMI crafting world
Hobnjall replied to mario_sunny's topic in General Discussion
This is *great*. As a fighter, I can make 10k cash an hour without alching anything, and the experience is decent. I am really alone, lots of crafters running by, and it would be really hairy without protect from magic/range/melee. But I made 10k in coin, 2 rune scimmys and misc. runes (8 nats) in an hour. And it's a lot less boring than the mini-games in the warriors guild (going for strength). If you don't have prayer potions, hang in front near the ladder and climb up to pray, climb down and fight. Rinse and repeat. I'm near 65 in att/str/def, so the attack strength and defense potions help a lot. I think that four fighters could cover the whole passage and make a decent living at it. Tell your fighter friends, eh? -
Nice work, thanks for the ideas. Really well done. Crud. Now I have to do the Lunar quests. Sigh. I think I'll probably go there and be a fighter for a while, though. I could really use the cash. Thanks for the good work.

Tip.it Times Presents: Realistic Games? No thanks.
Hobnjall replied to MPM's topic in General Discussion
Good and thought-provoking article. Thankee. I cannot even estimate the hours I have spent playing NetHack, Angband, and Omega. All ASCII based graphics, ugly as sin, but totally engrossing. And someone would call RuneScape un-realistic? Dearie dearie me. -
Weekly Poll: How often do you see someone breaking...
Hobnjall replied to Kiara_Kat's topic in General Discussion
I have no idea how many 'bots I see. How do I tell? Blatant scum, sure, they're easy. But why would I waste my time on researching someone who wears full camo while mining? Level 20? 30? 40? Gimme a break. I mine in my birthday suit, wearing a glory and using a rune pickaxe. Sometimes I have my public chat off because I'm listening to a good podcast (may the gods save Cory Doctorow!). I might not respond to "lvl?" or "mining lvl?". Just observe what I am wearing should be enough. So send out the hounds, I'll respond to a Mod. I am just trying to make every mouse click as efficient as I can. While learning something. Remember learning? This game is fnu ( pronounced fffnnnuuu ) but sometimes the grinding gets me down. Sue me. Or make MP3s, podcasts, out-of-game music against the rules. You won't even be able to notice me leave. *I* trust Jagex to solve this problem. I'm just here to pay for a very good game. Thank you, Jagex. -
I'm 51 ranging, and I can't figure how to update to an accumulator. Steel arrows and all, I'm baffled. I'm even boggled. Any suggestions? Sometimes I hate this game.

Weekly Poll: Which operating system do you use?
Hobnjall replied to Kiara_Kat's topic in General Discussion
Windows 2000 Professional. I used win95 until 2006. If it does what you want, why switch? I'd rather eat my shorts than buy another Microsoft product, though. Upgrades for me mean Linux. And Wine for windows products. I hope zMud runs on Wine... -
Weekly Poll: Which of the following would you like...
Hobnjall replied to Kiara_Kat's topic in General Discussion
I'd vote for a worlds guide. Where do players gather to: runecraft cosmics, fletch, trade jewellery, idle, and all that. And the inverse, where to avoid to: cut good trees, shop for jewellery, fight mossies, fight fire giants, gather snape grass and all that. Or would that be an outrageously large project?
