I do that. I've had some floors where I don't even eat until boss when I flick well and have easy GDs. Mining is growing on me. I think that finding 2 ores to make gauntlets/boots significantly boosts strength and only takes 20-30 seconds to do if you aren't busy. Interesting. Without melee, take the extra time to craft runes so that you can fire surge and range, which is decent. Almost everything (hellhounds as the exception) that is not weak to range is at least moderately weak to mage. As for hunting dinos... worth the time? arguable. enjoyable? yes.

I think range praying is the easiest way to finish Merc leaders. The mages don't hit too hard if you don't have a plate, and you can safespot the melee'ers. But then again, I die sometimes because I fail at it. This isn't really elitism (which, I think, is the word you were driving at). I bet you call people racist when they say they dislike Obama.

Like 1/3 of my deaths are on merc leader, but the only reason most people die is because they rush and don't have enough food. I accept that, and it's still worth rushing and dying every now and then on him.
