Rate and C/C my space scene wallpaper (1024x768)
Nope he isnt me! I posted the spaces sig. And what you mean by pre-made?! Adn what you have against big stars? I like them, I like big stars... By the way, nice space wallpaper. I really liked your Sun, looks cool! Well, that bottom right planet and the starfield look very similar to what you made, so I thought they might be downloaded objects/brushes. Big stars are ok, but should be a lot brighter than this, and give a bit more glare.

Rate and C/C my space scene wallpaper (1024x768)
Ehh... Those big stars again. And some very simple looking planets, with terrible texutres. Are those premades (especially those stars)? Or are you the same guy that posted the space a while ago..? Not very good.. Too much going on, the stars need a little colour, the planets don't look great, the focal point is pretty boring...

My First Pixel (NOW SHADED!)
Its good for a start! I'm no pro, but i'll try to give some c/c The cape is a little bright, and the yellow strokes don't really help. Also hard to tell if the cape is actually shaded because its so bright. Some of the other objects are very bright (the shield, the bright shoes, belt, and gloves on the left character) and a bit too strong on the eyes. The strokes on those rings don't look too great, if you replaced it maybe with some anti-alasing or very light strokes, it might look better. They aren't on the same angle as the rest of the image. The lava in the background looks good, nice and varied, except it also doesn't lie on the correct angle. Right now it looks like a top-down view, kinda throws off the depth of the sig. Where is the dragon axe coming from? And how is it positioned on the rock like that without sinking into the lava? If you are trying to get it stuck in, it doesn't look like that right now. If you make some of the rock colours spill over onto the red, it would make it look a lot more realistic and as if the axe is actually stuck in the rock. Anyways, good luck with that, and as for skin tones... Its pretty simple, just find a nice base, and make a pallet from lighter/darker shades of that colour, and also try to find some differently saturated tones (some skin on the face has more saturation than other parts, such as our rosey cheeks). Try not to use too many shades, it can get busy down there :P If you are having troubles finding the right colours, look on google for tutorials on 'skin tones' tutorials. There are a bunch out there, and some even go into detail on where the face will usually receive highlights and shadows.

Get your pixel shading practice over here!
well atleast get some 3D shape in it  Shaunri its ok with the high lights and all however because theres such a intense lightsource right next to him.. it should get a little more countrast and then its fine. Venomai i can see the brushing there (or transparant pixel blok :P ) but thats ok. im loving it all three of them.. not sure how to c/c them because wel.. i could call them pretty close to perfect. the "underpants like part" is shaded incorrect the high light should be a dark shade instead because the arm is sort of blocking the capability of that high-light and its t of far off to be the main cast shadow.. however.. its just a minor flaw. the only weak-points in this sig (dont get me wrong) are the road and the sky. the sky is pretty grey and lifless. the lightest point of a sky is always at the bottem.. and then it turns into a nice cloudy color blue. or just very dark grey/blue the road goes from wide to thin to rapidly it should go a bit more gradually (im talking about that very thin part at the mountain) o and brilliant use of multiple lightsources. Wow, thanks! I see what you mean on the road thing, it goes in a bit too strong as it gets closer to the mountain. The sky isn't finished yet, but I'll be sure to change the bottom area to the lightest and the top to the darkest if I do decide to finish it. I dunno what you mean by the underpants, the highlight is coming from the left (his right), so the arm isn't affecting it. Unless you mean its too far to the right, in which case, I see what you mean :P And no, I didn't use brushes. Although I did use transparent pixels. Is that not allowed? :(

Pixel Sigs
Not all people use sketches on paper for creating pixels (although I do, speeds things up imo). Any raster-based image editing program (usually Photoshop is the best choice) can be used to create pixels. A pixel is just an image create pixel by pixel, without using any other effects or tools. So even MS Paint will work, but since that doesn't support all the nice features that PS has, (layers, masks, etc.) you'll have a tough time.

[W.I.P- Landscape]-- EDIT: big update look!
I think its a much better setup for a terraspace, but now that you are on a closer angle some flaws can be seen. The biggest problem are those clouds. They look low quality at the moment, and look like there are some gradients in there. They aren't very powerful if you know what I mean, and clouds are supposed to be the awe-inspiring stuff in landscapes. :) Next.. the texture. It looks like a pixel stretch. Its too grassy for a cliff like that, and in too uniform of a pattern. Try changing it to a rocky texture, or lowering/varying the amount of grass on the cliffs. And once it gets into the top area of the mountains, they look untextured. However, on that shallow ground between the two lakes I think the textures look great. The reflections in the water seem out of place when you look at the sky. Where did those reflections come from? There are some black shapes in the lake closest to the bottom you might want to look into. And lastly, the colours.. It seems green and blue. :? If thats from the sun, maybe it would be better to add your own colours in PS. Anyways, great start, still looks like this part of it needs a bit of work. If you do finish it, I'm sure it will be great! :D

Bryceness 5.0
what is 60 dollars these days. If you want an easy begginer program to work with go for it. Well if you are going for abstracts, its a good program because of all the boolean/metaball support (but past that, not many more options without making sphere/torus abstracts) but for realism modeling its pretty weak. In which case... a free program such as Blender 3D or Anim8or would be a much better choice. And since a lot of the free programs also offer boolean modeling, you can make some similar stuff even in those programs. Of course, if you plan on getting heavily into architecture/landscape, feel free! Its a good investment for that. :)

Bryceness 5.0
If you aren't very talented when it comes to digital painting, you have no tablet, no ps/painter, or you lack the other basics, then there isn't much point in paying for bryce. It was created as a landscape/scenery generation program, and thats what its good at, but even after the fully finished renders and modeling, the scene will still need a lot of painting over it before it will look complete. Its not too great for abstracts or any type of modeling (excluding architecture or terrain generation). Not worth the $59 IMO, unless you are truely skilled with digital paintings and want to go the extra step in your landscape art.

Challenging Godslayer to a pixel duel!
lmao! I had the same idea last night, I had sketched it out on paper. One of them was on the ground, somebody elses feet visible, and in big font "FINISH HIM". I scanned it this morning and planned to work on it tonight if they still hadn't finished. Great minds think alike!

Need C/C in two sigs.
They are both pretty basic. Planets + stars is nothing new, and nothing too difficult. There are a couple HGUE stars which shouldn't be that big, and one of the planets looks see-through on the dark part (the dark area on planets is a shadow! So the planet is still there, its just black or very dark). The starfield on the first is not saturated in enough colour, and the glow on the second looks almost too saturated. The textures on the orange planet (1st) look great, but the textures on the green (2nd) look too bumpy and the bevel effect looks a little too strong. The glow on the text doesn't really seem to fit in, maybe it would work well if the planets had more glow to them, but atm it looks kinda lonely. :) Good luck w/ space EDIT: And if you meant the stars on the first to be INFRONT of the planet (instead of the planet being see-through) thats also not a good idea! Scientists assume each star is something similar to our Sun, but in another solar system, millions/billions of lightyears away. A planet of that size (since planets are very small compared to a universe, or compared to another star) would have to be very close to the camera for it to look that big! A star (=massive ball of flaming gas, like the sun) that is infront of that planet would not appear to be anywhere as small as that. And it would definitely not be in a cluster of other stars..

What program should i use doing pixels?
PSCS is great for pixels, probably one of your best choices. Make a new layer, take out the 1px pencil tool, and start drawing! :) Don't use other things (blur/dodge/burn/etc.) or it won't be considered a pixel. I use ps7 for my pixels, because I don't have pscs.

i just got c4d yesterday, rate this pl0x
Thats nice. Needs a little more contrast/highlights to it, and maybe slightly less blurred brushing. Good job though, you're improving very quickly :)

Get your pixel shading practice over here!
Heh, probably, although I still need a lot of improvement. Its about the 2nd pixel sig I've made, so I can't be positive on that :P And any c&c on it would be appreciated.

Challenging Godslayer to a pixel duel!
Lets hope to see some nice anatomy, cool dithering/anti-aliasing and maybe even an original perspective :) Good luck you two!

Get your pixel shading practice over here!
Alright, I tested out a few things in these pixels. In this one, I'm just testing out shading with a single light source, and a dull, scratched armor on the guy. The arrow shows the light source. This was the one I mentioned before, with my own background. I'm trying to learn manual Dithering here, as you can see on the road, shadows, and glow from the candle. I'm also testing ambient lighting, so I put the lamp there as an example. I've used 3 light sources (1 main, casting the shadows, two other minor ones), and the armor is a little more reflective. I'm still working on the clouds/background, but you can see my basic sketch so far. c&c please :) And thanks for this, it really helped!

Digital airbrushing WIPS / practices
Here are my very first attempts at digital airbrushing. Please give c&c so I can improve! I hope to do more of this style (not as much abstract/nebulae brushings, but characters, objects, and especially landscapes). Done in PS7 with a Graphire tablet.. A dragon head! Background not complete yet (I've started drawing an out-of-focus landscape, though). This was my first real attempt at digital painting. Click the image for a sketch (was a very outdated sketch, I swear I've improved!). This was just testing out brushing nebulae. The brush tool was the only tool I used for all 3 pieces, and added some subtle blurring by filters. As you can see, they are in order from least recent to most recent. The last one I attempted to pay a lot more attention to detail and texture, as it will eventually be the base of my next space scene. Best viewed on a dark template.

--**-- New Emo sig --**--
You took an image from an album cover and posted a smaller version here. And... Now you want us to do what? I'm lost as to the whole point of this thread, other than a nice spot to park flame. Well, if Graphic Design as a job is nerdy, I guess serving at McDonalds must be pretty cool..? Who cares about the conditions, amount of enjoyment, hours, or payments; being cool is all that matters, right? Grow up, learn some art, and start with a better attitude (and maybe even some more legible posts). Then people may start to take you seriously.

[W.I.P- Landscape]-- EDIT: big update look!
Has potential for a really great Terraspace scene... Go the distance!! It will look great. Only thing I don't like is the choice of sky. A gloomy looking or stormy sky might fit better, especially if you plan on adding space up there. PS: better quality preview pl0z?!

i dont no what 2 draw ! taking request !(1) !!
A nice shot of scenery or a cityscape. Futuristic or fantasy is good... or.. one of those scenes from runescape, that we can see for the billionth time.

pixel...c/c needed
I know its kinda idiot question, but whats a tablet? A drawing tablet that is set up to your computer, using a stylus as the 'pencil'. For example; http://www.wacom.com

Get your pixel shading practice over here!
Thanks for the practice :) I'm trying my own right now, its coming along nicely. That would be nice shading for plasic surfaces. But since this is metal, you should try to spread out the specular a little bit more. Or keep the specular the same, and try to brighten up the tones around it. I'm also seeing some gradient shading on his left arm. boo!

pixel...c/c needed
I like it. Grungey, unique, and original. Maybe not the best linework or text, but its creative. It also includes a nice landscape shot, which a lot of the pixel sigs here lack! The people look low quality, like a JPG or something, and the ground needs a little depth (darken it up where it goes near the horizon?). The shadows fit with the gritty theme, but they are too skinny. Try filling the area inside up a little more.

[WALKTHROUGH] - abstract, post-3D
Please PM or reply here if you see any mistakes or problems with the walkthrough. This is just a basic walkthrough of the major steps involved in my newest abstract. My next tutorial will hopefully be something OTHER than abstract. :P -- You'll need Photoshop to follow along and understand exactly what I'm saying, but this can be done in any image editing program. And a finished (and transparent) 3D render will also be needed. The guide: (56k beware) Additional "view comment" tips: [subtle highlights] [wireframe material in max] [sparkbrushes, PS7] - I will have a mirror up shortly. Final Result - Thanks to GreatSilverWyrm for the font help. Enjoy!
