    Stretch your hips until you can do a third world squat comfortably, then do back squats and deadlifts. That will really strengthen your back.
  2. In laymans terms creatine is part of a short burst energy system (you have 3) that naturally gets replenished fairly quickly by your body. Taking creatine lets you push yourself more, which you shouldn't do as a beginner. Don't worry about it now, stick to good old wpc.
  3. Also "be yourself" is just bad advice anyway. Everyone behaves differently in different situations, and it can discourage self improvement. You shouldn't pretend to be somebody you aren't if you want something long term, but "i don't need to improve my physique/dress well/stop being an insecure needy wuss/get off the computer because I want a girl who likes me for who I am" isn't healthy either. You should be your "best self" which is completely different.
  4. Mmm hmm In high school you can sometimes get away with it, but otherwise you basically need to start attracting her, and touching her as soon as you meet her. Otherwise she won't start to think of you as a potential suiter and trying something later will just surprise her and make things weird. I've gotten out of the friend zone, and while It's not an exact science, basically the first step is moving on. Not by waiting and hoping, but going after new women and forgetting about her. It takes time.
  5. If you had to insist on becoming a statistic in this thread and go down the "spill your feelings" path to spanky town, at least listen to mug. Move on.
  6. Oblivion mods for a basically first play through anyone? Especially those suitable for a rogue, an expanded dark brotherhood would be nice.
  7. Getting toned is just losing fat so your get definition in your physique. Ab work is a waste of time imo, you work your abs plenty doing squats, deadlifts, ohp, pullups etc. 6 packs are made in the kitchen if that's what you're after. Pushups will build a little muscle if you currently struggle to do like 5, but otherwise chances are they won't do a whole lot. If you only want to do body weight exercises for some reason, pullups, chinups and dips are good, though you should start hanging weights off yourself when you get comfortable with them.

    I went to an event with a pig on the spit, which tasted awesome. I got free drinks and had a good night. Also I came to the realization that ever since I started getting serious in the gym and making decent gains I've been hit on by more and more guys, but the same if not less girls. :/
  9. I picked it up new for $25 on ebay. This game is amazing, and in some ways imo better than dx1.
  10. I'm learning to powerclean so I can replace my bb rows. I usually take to any sport like a fish in water but I feel [bleep]ing gumby learning powercleans. I'm set to hit 5x5 squats at 100kg within a fortnight, really looking forward to it.

    I agree. My 5 30 start wasn't bad, somebody screwed up the job so I just read the newspaper until 8, and being a government owned company that sort if thing happens a fair bit. Then I got called out to an emergency job because a crane driver took out some high voltage lines. Waited for the other crews to do their thing, I did mine which took like 15 mins and it's basically home time. Man I love my job.

    I've answered the door in underwear a few times. They just pretended not to notice and did their thing. Why would you tell your girlfriend's parents that you are religious when you aren't? Unless you're like 16/have no plans to keep her long term. I had to get up at 4:30 am for a 5 30 start and I can't remember being up that early sober.
  13. Make sure they have free weights, power racks (or at least stands)and allow chalk. Forget the cable machines. Pool and sauna are a plus.
  14. I think you would be better off doing 5x5 squats (3x5 when you keep stalling) and 1-3x5 or 6 deadlifts. You will get results doing almost anything for the first year, but it slows down quickly after that so you might as well make the most of it and be efficient. Why no overhead press or bench press?     Once you've been lifting a bit, as long as you've done your research, you'll find that most people in weight rooms don't know what they're doing anyway.

    It's about who you know, not what you know. Hence how I got my job. And if it's not who you know and as long as you fit the requirements, (0 for a basic entry level job) then it's whether they think you will fit into the rest of their workforce. (basically, if they like you)
  18. Download the starting strength ebook. It has a very good program for all types of lifters with detailed instructions for each lift. Squats, deadlift, oh press etc all work your core.
  19. Creatine helps you workout more and recover faster (it's a naturally occurring part of your energy system) but save it for a later stage if you want to use it. As far as squats and bad backs, the squats will help improve your back as long as you start with light weights and perform the lift correctly.
  20. I should have mentioned that. Legs are big muscles, and it's something to do with lots of chemicals for muscle development are released because of that which gets shared around to your other muscles. Atm my routine is Session 1 5x5 squats 5x5 bench press 5x5 barbell rows Session 2 3xfailure pullups 5x5 squats 5x5 overhead press 1x5 deadlift I'm going to sub rows for powercleans at some point, but I'll have to learn how to do it first. It's so short because they are compound lifts and I work everything at once. I'm getting great results from it. If you do these lifts, make sure you research them and do them correctly or you will hurt yourself.
  21. Isolation isolates muscles. Stuff like curls and calf raises. Those are the routines where you have to remember 20 different exercises, and the ones you see in garbage health magazines. Isolation should really just be used for advanced lifters. Compound lifts use multiple muscle areas at once and are generally much more effective. Starting strength is a good routine to go by.
  22. I highly recommend you ditch the isolation routines and stick to compound lifts. At least do squats.

    I have a gastro virus, but I seem to be recovering already which is good, apparently they can last a week. Good news is I'm on standby this week, so while I can't drink I can hope a storm brings down a power line or something and earn me some decent money.
  25. How do you boycott investment banks? Large companies that sell products with 'overpaid' ceo's etc are small fish. It's the white collar criminals who sell crap investments and then bet against them that are the issue. What we really need is regulation of the finance industry.
