I personally find first person is alot scarier for horror games...because you can't see all around you. It's zoomed in a lot in Dead space, so it's hard to see behind you.
  2. Yeah I wasn't sure how much power a GTX280 would take up, and it's always good to leave some room open for upgrades in the future.

Yeah. It's using the same architecture so it should be fine.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised so far, it may warrant an upgrade when it comes out from me. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20 ... ows-7.html Text descriptions on the buttons are gone, in favor of big icons. The icons canfinallybe rearranged; no longer will restarting an application put all your taskbar icons in the wrong order. The navigation between windows is now two-level; mousing over an icon shows a set of window thumbnails, and clicking the thumbnail switches windows. Right clicking the icons shows a new UI device that Microsoft calls "Jump Lists." The taskbar's system tray has also been improved. A common complaint about the tray is that it fills with useless icons and annoying notifications. With 7, the tray is now owned entirely by the user. By default, new tray icons are hidden and invisible; the icons are only displayed if explicitly enabled. The icons themselves have also been streamlined to make common tasks (such as switching wireless networks) easier and faster.

Amazed there isn't a topic on this yet (Lenin, you disappoint me ;p). I think that GiantBomb's Review of Dead space perfectly sums it up. [hide=] [/hide] I finished dead space the other day ago and, I must say, it is a serious game of the year contender. I know we have a ton of triple A titles coming up / out (LBP, GOW2, ect.) but it's an amazing experience. It's not very often I'm that impressed by a single player game, especially one in a genre that isn't exactly my favorite. So this next part is for those who have already played the game, or don't care about spoilers: [hide=SPOILERS!]So, what did you think about the story? I have to admit that I didn't expect to have that girl betray you near the end. Hell, when she first shot the scientist and flew off I thought she would have come back  . However the entire deal with his girlfriend...man. Creepy as [bleep] once you realize that she wasn't really there. More so how does some of the stuff in the game even happen if she was dead, such as when she helped him with the door? Overall I was impressed with the story. It wasn't out of this world but it was a lot better than most these days. Oh and the last boss? [bleep]ing incredible[/hide]

Yup. Even Giant Bomb gave it 4/5 stars, and they're really harsh when it comes to reviews.
  8. Pitty his larger scale worked (on his dA) sucked, his signatures are nice. Wasted talent on such a small canvas :(

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/28/metar ... -xbox-360/ * 1UP (A): "Faults be damned, though; this is the kind of hugely ambitious game that doesn't come around very often, and when it does, you'd be a fool not to play it and enjoy the hell out of it and look forward to the day (next-next-gen?) when the fidelity of open-world RPGs takes another big step closer to the uncanny valley's far side." * Eurogamer (100/100): "Despite so many worries, Fallout 3 almost effortlessly succeeds in its central aim of reviving a much-loved brand to appeal to the vast majority of players. It's a thrilling, all-consuming experience that will absorb you for weeks, whether you're attracted by the action, the adventure, or the role-playing, as you fall in love with the relentless excitement, incredible atmosphere, sense of place and sheer choice." * Worth Playing (95/100): "In the end, Fallout 3 feels like a Fallout game, and that is absolutely the highest compliment. Despite the changes, much of the charm and fun of the franchise remains intact, and despite the similarities to Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, I never felt that I was playing anything but a Fallout game." * Giant Bomb (80/100): "It's unfortunate that Fallout 3 is saddled with so many little- and medium-sized issues, because they get in the way of what's an otherwise fantastic experience. The world is well-realized and full of options. It'll be a struggle in spots, but I'm willing to guess that most people will be able to overlook a lot of the game's problems and still have a very good time exploring the irradiated wasteland formerly known as Washington DC."

I hope they fix it so that tapping on your screen doesn't zoom in your weapon. God, I hated that so much.
  11. No, nothing has changed. He still guesses at everything and, at times, gives completely wrong and downright dangerous answers. But nothing will stop him because apparently he knows.
  12. Just beat it as well and, I agree, the ending is incredible. And [cabbage] man, the guy's behind Dead Space need to teach developers a thing or two about boss design -- holy [cabbage]!
  13. If you really want to get technical most of these video game images people use as "stock" are rips of a wallpaper created by an actual artist. However no one really cares to bother with it, and it's easy practice. And MrShiny said it all.

This , except stay away from Paint.net. No point in learning it.
  15. Learn something different.
  16. If it's youtube it needs to be in .AVI format or something similar. WMMP is just a format for windows movie maker.
  17. Intel personally. And why the hell would you got for an 8800GT with a budget of $2000!? you could easily fit in a GTX280 with that budget.
  18. In the unless-the-head-is-separated-from-the-body-only-a-properly-trained-professional-may-call-time-of-death sense of the phrase. Or possibly we-need-a-court-order-to-shut-of-the-respirator-and-probe-feeding-to-end-the-vegative-state. Well, in all honesty it's kind of hard to go any worse than SWG was pre NCE. I mean, people can have fond memories all they want but it was still a buggy pile of [cabbage], that they then turned into a buggy pile of [cabbage] that was also a WoW clone. I'll say it before, and I'll say it again -- LucasArts was pretty damn responsable for NCE. Granted SOE did have some involvment, but that was years and years ago, and a complete different development team than the one for Everquest and Everquest II (and more recently, Vanguard -- which proved they could actually turn around a bad game). I am curious how massively this KOToR:O would be though. I mean, I hope it wouldn't be like a star wars version of guild wars. If they keep the instancing low (which I've heard they aren't going to) I'd be happy but, meh, I don't know. Haven't been that happy with bioware in the past few years, what with Mass Effect and the Sonic RPG both being just average games.
  19. And before declaring wars, they'll use Civilizations to simulate it, to find out the outcome. To be honest, isn't communicating online a form of social activity? So aren't online players pretty social? If not...Well, just about everyone at my school has some console, 5 years ago I doubt half the school did. I find that a lot of them play sports games, a bit of Halo and all that. But as far as I know, there are very, very few hardcore gamers at my school. Even fewer hardcore PC gamers. Yeah I think the study is mostly looking at the growing trend of online gaming, which often times really emphasizes working with other players. Either way I think this study was largely a waste of time because anyone could have easily come to the same conclusion. With the advent of online gaming it is pretty hard to be an anti-social gamer, unless you just sit alone and play single player games.
  20. I agree with you but are you sure you're thinking of the half-life games? I never once remembered a scene in which you couldn't interact with. Even the "cut scene" spots allowed you to move around. In fact thats why I always liked them, they always made sure it was you that was in control of what was going on. Exactly, that's why non-onteractive cut scenes started ticking him off, since he got used to being able to control himself in Half-Life but couldn't otherwise. As for the above, i agree on the subtitles thing. It would have made FEAR so much better if I actually knew what they were saying. Oh, after. I get it now. :P I agree with him as well, custscenes that you can not interact with are horrible design theory I think. I mean, of course it depends on the game and the context of the game, but you shouldn't get cut out in the middle of it for a cutscene. Dead Space is a good example of a game that finally has it right. Even the "Cutscenes" in the game allow you movement. I wish more games would take notice of that. I mean, if I wanted to watch a damn movie I would, right?
  21. Like I said before, it's easy. They all are connected to the same controls. For example, if you hit "W" to move forward on the main shaman, all 36 of them would move forward. If you hit "2" for lighting strike then all of them would cast lightning strike. It takes a bit to get setup, but there are so many macros out there that it isn't that big of a difference between multiboxing 5 and multiboxing 36. As long as you have the hardware for it.
  22. It's pretty easy, you just run the patcher and link it to the rom. I'd try this out but I'm unsure if the EZ Flash V (Slot 2) could run a 32mb GBA game. I know my roomate tried on his DS and it didn't work (he has same EZ Flash V)
  23. I would talk with your ISP before anything, dial up isn't exactly known for being reliable. Critical item? :| It's ventrilo. Not every problem is something drastic D_V.
  24. PC: Dead space / Warhammer online / Crysis WARS DS: Castlevania : Order of Elescha / KORG DS-10 synth (not really a game but still) Right now right now I'm playing WAR though.
  25. Personal choice really. I don't see an 8600GT really running any DX10 stuff "well". Although I did think vista was more expensive.
