I think Zbrush is a good program for you, especially since you have a lot of experience with digi-painting. Good job on the model, I tried zbrush a while back and it is a lot harder than it seems.
  2. Some good ideas. I'm planning on doing some sort of border, I'll see how it looks with the images in there before committing to one though. And yeah, I noticed a few things are a bit off alignment, that'll all get fixed. Yeah I think I get what you're saying. I'll probably end up using lightbox as it always works pretty well, and it supports having text as well so that's always good. As far as the dots go I could lower their opacity if they were an issue perhaps? I do think that once the thumbnails have images they will draw a lot more attention than you might think, especially with some borders. I'll experiment with a lower opacity though. The links are that way due to the site going to be a sort of "accordion" style I'm going for. I don't think scrolling will be a major issue, after all you should be able to have almost all of the current thumbnails on your screen with little or minimal scrolling, it's only 1200px high after all. I could try and tighten up the links though together if it'll still look alright though. (Also I like the font too, Raavi is awesome)
  3. Your monitor must be really dark then. I can read it perfectly fine. The only input I have at the moment is, I think you need to have less thumbnails. With that many it will just look crowded. As far as the thumbnails go it'll be as many as I have items I want to show on the page. I could always spread them out a bit more if people really wanted me to but, to be honest, I kind of like them bunched up like that.
  4. Nadril_ is my steam name for MW2, if anyone actually bought the game for PC. Had to make a new steam account because I needed to modify some files in it and didn't want to get banned on my main one :). Level 12 or something now, game is pretty decent to kill time with. Having to swap hosts sucks though. All in all I wouldn't have spent money on this but its a pretty good way to waste some time until Firearms Source comes out.
  5. Yeah the squares are just placeholders for the image thumbnails. I can probably make that last name a bit lighter, my monitor is pretty bright so it's easy to see here. Thanks.
  6. When I was playing spy a lot I liked using C&D. Mostly for cart maps as you really can do well with it. C&D does encourage you to play it a bit more slow so it's better suited for a pub-style. Needless to say I've gotten many many 5+ kills one after another with C&D. I also got my spy record, 34 points/17 kills/14 backstabs, while using C&D on Hoodoo.
  7. [hide=v1] *sigh*, man, you guys do not know how many WIPs and designs and ideas I've gone through. I've been in a pretty crappy design block recently and I've also been pretty self-conscious of my design the past few weeks. I've been looking all around online and just trying to get... some sort of inspiration for a new portfolio. So this is probably the 4th or 5th idea I've had and, I have to say, I actually really like it. As always I've gone for a dark, minimalistic theme here. This time I've tried to make everything a bit bigger as to avoid my current situation where my portfolio can fit on a 648x480 space. Still keeping within the confines of a 1024x768 (well, vertical scrolling a bit) space but making sure I use the space this time. I've really tried hard on making this look... not amateurish. Obviously at this point it is an early WIP but I'm certainly questioning just how much I'll add to it, as once I get all the thumbnails actually filled with images it is bound to "fill up" a lot. The number of thumbnails is (obviously) not set in stone, It's just the amount I could fit on the canvas (1024x1200) I set up for myself). Coding wise, these are my plans: - Heavily debating the use of lightbox for this one. I would really like input on this and, if not what I should do instead. - Hover over text inside of the thumbnail detailing what I want about the image (title, software, ect.) - I want to use a CMS, but which one would be best for this? edit: - going to do an "acordian" style thing, where you click the link and it opens up into that part. So obviously blog/portfolio may change places.[/hide] v2 Took in a bunch of comments and reworked it a bit. I did take everything into consideration and just sort of did what I felt best. Note: The firehydrant picture is just an example of when you'll "hover over" one of the thumbnails, so it looks brighter because I want it to do that. Changes: - Shortened the space between links considerably. I did try them all on one line and it just didn't look that great. Still I do agree they took up too much space before. - Changed to a 3x2 layout. I really agree that this helps the page a lot and doesn't overwhelm the user with pictures. - Added pictures to the thumbnails so they aren't soulless boxes. Hopefully this helps when critiquing the page as they'll draw more attention now :) - Added a light stroke (#535353) and a drop shadow to the image thumbnails. I think it really helps bring focus to them  - Added example of hovering over an image (firehydrant).

It always breaks pretty easily since I fly back to school. Getting up early and all that jazz.
  9. hah, I feel ya. I'm probably gonna be playing again in less than a month for the exact same reason. Heh, I'm actually leaning towards just not playing now. I've got enough [cabbage] to do to keep me busy (school, HoN, ect.) that I just don't really feel like playing WoW. I've got like 17 free days on the account I have so we'll see if I change my mind, but yeah, it's kind of nice being MMO-less.
  10. 360? PC...
  11. [bleep]. Why. Someone on my vent mentioned the unmentionable. "Hey, so Chris wants to play WoW again.....". Needless to say patcher is running now... I need to hopefully bum an account from a friend though because I sold my old one. Rolling with them on some server :/. Probably rolling a warlock. (Why do I do these things?)
  12. So, I actually can play this game online now. Because of Infinity Ward's laughable online protection my pirated copy works online on the official servers. It should be a decent time waster.
  13. It was kind of cool seeing usernames I haven't seen in years, a lot of those people were regular posters back then. Also, holy crap 2005 was five years ago, that is crazy. I guess it's officially five years since I played runescape also. Yeah kind of cool. DId anyone other then me post in this thread back in '05 that is still posting here regularly? e: noticed Azvareth, not sure about the others. Danabis and Lionheart still posts. I think the former goes by another name now though. Yeah, looking through the thread again obviously I know about those two. (And I'm pretty sure I know who Danabis is as well)

This is going to be ungodly off topic (but who gives a damn in this thread, right?) but how is BlazBlue? I have a pretty limited experience with the Guilty Gear saga but Blaz has gotten me interested. Thinking of buying it and curious how it is. I've heard some of the fighters are pretty imbalanced, that true? Oh and to make this not a [developmentally delayed]ed off topic post my roomate got a Wii. Not sure if we'll get brawl or not though, it's sort of on the lower end of things to buy I think.

Most of the people I've talked to about it mostly just complain about the extra cost of 3D in some theaters, I have heard from most on the Internet that 3D is necessary but not anything from people about it. Also from people I've talked too (a mix of seeing it in 3D and not) there is a pretty good inverse correlation between how good you thought the movie was and how many video games you play; people who play little to no video games thought it was amazing while those of us who play a decent amount were less impressed. Really? As both an artist and an avid video gamer I was incredibly impressed with the 3D. The big thing about the 3D is that it really is just used to add an incredible depth of field to everything. Really it is just an incredible looking movie, and the 3D really did make a difference.

lololololololol. Seriously you fell for that spiel about "OMG $100 GOLD PLATED MONSTER CABLES"? There is no difference and you can get the exact same kind of cable online for like $10. Best Buy over charges on these things because they can (what's another $100 if you just spent $2500 on a new TV) and because it is what brings in the most money. Stupid people will continue to be stupid and waste their money on this stuff.

So you're going to hurt the retail store for something that is completely Microsoft's fault? There's a thing nearby thats run by MS. That's where I'm getting it. I wouldn't do it to a company like Best Buy, a company that actually seems to give a [cabbage] about customer satisfaction. Wait what? lol.
  19. The video card is one of the HD Mobile series, isn't it? I think you should be fine on low-ish settings but I don't have much experience with that card.
  20. Agreed with these others on the stall thing, what's wrong with wanting a little privacy?
  21. Yeah he's right, technically speaking. Still he knows what everyone is saying so it's just sort of a douchbag move to try and correct others. It will be odd not saying like "oh-nine" or "oh-seven". Just saying "ten' for the year is odd... I might have to just do oh-ten.

Happy new years guys. Sadly had a pretty boring new years here since I'm back home for winter break. Oh well. Also I know for the next 3 months I'm going to be still writing "09" on my papers >_<.
  23. Just do whatever.
  24. You can't buy sockets, they come in gear. You can buy gems and enchants to put in/on gear but they aren't going to make a major difference compared to just getting good gear. Take it from an old DPS warrior, you do need good gear to put out decent DPS (unless they changed it since last I played). Also last time I played Arms was the starting dps spec of choice with Fury being a real "end game" spec once you get greatly geared out. I was just doing the transition from arms to fury when I stopped playing.
  25. Like, across your entire lifetime or what? If it's that then I have no clue, probably more than I'd like to admit. I mean, I have probably $500+ worth of games on my steam account alone. That isn't including the $400 or so I put towards a 360 a couple of years back, the $1000 I put towards a gaming laptop, the $50 headset, $50 mouse, the $400ish of 360 games, the amount of money I've paid in MMO subscriptions. I've paid a lot for games and I have to say it is probably impossible to total it up over all these years. I mean, I've been playing games for probably around 18 years now (since I was like 3) and while it may not have always been my "own" money I spent on games I still have spent a lot on them, period. I would gather though that I've spent at least a few thousand on video games (or accessories related to video games) over the course of my life. My steam account, btw (going in order): CoD 4: $50 Comander Keen Pack $5 Counter Strike / Counter Strike source: (free) Day of Defeat Source : $20 Doom 3: $50 (when I bought it) Doom 3 expansion: $20 ID Software package: $20 Dragon Age: Origins : $50 Half Life: (Got for my birthday when it came out) Half Life 2: $50 Half Life 2 Episode 1: $30 Half-Life Blue Shift: $20 Half-Life Opposing Force: $20 Killing Floor: $5 Left4dead: $50 Left4Dead2: $50 Mirrors Edge: $5 Secret of Monkey Island: $2.50 The Orange Box: $50 (TF2, EP2, Portal) Unreal Tournament 3: $20 Crysis Warhead: $30 Crysis: $50 TOTAL: $597.50
