  1. I wonder where we'd be today if the world, as a whole, could have put these ancient devices and technologies to greater use/study. It seems like so many of the discoveries of the ancient world were lost, causing the world to take steps backwards.
  2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antikithera_mechanism As I have said before the Greek and Romans were more advanced than any other people in the world up until the recent century, but this is crazy! I know theres the Coliseum, the Pyramids, the miles of roads and aqueducts running throughout Europe, but we really should not underestimate the knowledge of ancient peoples.
  3. Yeah, if he wants to talk about depressing, I am 20 years old and never had a girlfriend. He's ahead of me already :P . I'm 23 and have never even been on a date.
  4. Just wait, there will be at least a few people claiming 200+ IQ's. IQ threads and "measure your body part" threads are always full of big numbers.
  5. I thought this would be about a band member with a jet pack.
  6. The idea of changing gender disgusts me and I'm not likely to be "hanging out" with people who have had that procedure done. At the same time, I'm not going to try to stop them from getting it done either.
  7. Well, I know one president who's going to end up in a lot of the "least" categories.
  8. I've never had it officially tested. I've taken those online tests but I doubt they're very accurate. I usually score in the low 130's on them, if I'm remembering correctly.
  9. Physical: I'd like to be taller. I'm a 23 year old guy and only 5'5". Mental: Being smarter couldn't hurt.
  10. So I guess Fiji will be the next Windows and will be an enhancement to Vista. Vienna will come after that. If this is all true, it seems like a lot is being crammed into just a few years. As you can see in the quote, this information is pretty old so maybe some of it has changed now. I could easily be wrong too. I haven't researched the topic much at all. Pretty much all I "know" is what I read from that link I posted.
  11. That's a relief!!!! Think of it this way, in 7 years they might have released an OS that is Vista and without all the resource whoring :D Microsoft is already planning on a new OS by 2009. It's supposed to be rebuilt from the ground up from what I hear. Link --> http://www.windowsvienna.com/

  13. Wow, thanks! Following the directions in that link fixed everything! I never expected to get a solution so quickly. Thanks again!
  14. When your computer restarts, do you get any error messages either just before the re-start or after the computer has finished re-booting?
  15. Both my CD-ROM and DVD drive stopped working suddenly. I've tried everything I can think of but can't get them working. They still have power but they wont read any discs in windows and their drive icons aren't shown in "My Computer". In the device manager they both have an exclamation point next to them to indicate there is a problem but Windows troubleshooting doesn't help me. First I tried connecting their IDE cable to a different IDE channel on the motherboard. Then I tried replacing the IDE cable altogether. I've also tried going into the BIOS to see that the drives are being recognized there...they are. I thought maybe the problem was in Windows so I tried inserting a boot disc into both drives and re-booting the computer. The boot disc ran fine, so it seems the physical drives are not causing the problem. In Windows XP, I deleted the drives from device manager and then let Windows autodetect them but it always comes back saying there was a problem and they could not be installed correctly. I tried booting into safe-mode but the drives don't work in safe-mode either. This is getting pretty annoying. Does anyone have any other ideas on what might be the problem or what additional steps I should take to find the problem? Here's a picture of the device manager in case that helps. I'm also not sure what that SCSI device is. I can't remember if that's always been there or if it only started appearing after the drives stopped working.
  16. That is true. But how long has the game been out? 7...8 years? No reset yet. You could even transfer your accounts to Rs2 from RSC. You can get maxed stats playing 1-2 hours a day in what... 3-5 years max? So say they reset the game every 10 years (I know the game won't be around that long lol), but say they did. That's about 5 years that your account is maxed out. I think it would be quite interesting if everyone was starting from scratch. It would give you a chance to be the best. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if I was a very active RS player. For me, however, there are a lot of times when I don't even get in 1-2 hours of gameplay during a week, let alone a day. I've been playing on and off since 2001 and I still don't have any stats higher than the mid 80's.
  17. I have to go with "Superman 64". Luckily I decided to rent it before buying.
  18. I don't have a detailed knowledge of how the whole Runescape system works, but I think Jagex tells you not to "x out" mainly so you won't die unexpectedly. As others have said, your character will remain in game for a while if you don't log out normally. If you're in a safe area, that's not a problem, but if you're in a dangerous area such as the wilderness, that could mean your death.
  19. I probably wouldn't play as much if at all. For me, it would just seem like a waste of time because, if they reset the game once, they can do it again.
  20. In the past I've had an "accidental" collection of plastic water bottles. Actually, it was due to laziness more than the desire to collect them. But one area of my floor was covered in them.
  21. I'm having a hard time getting past the current level. I've been using the same paper cup for years now and the level seems to always be the same. I'm not sure if the increase is just so slight that I don't notice it, or if the nails are actually breaking down into a dust-like material over time.
  22. I would take my clothes. It may be 1940 but I still don't want to be naked.
  23. I collect finger and toe nail clippings as you can see by the picture below. I'm not really sure why. One day I just decided to put all my clippings into a paper cup and I have been doing it ever since.
