Level 91 Smithing - There's No Stopping Me ;)
I gotta need for speed! I seem to be leveling at crazy fast rates ...you guessed it, I'm already at 91 smithing! I shudder when I see I have nearly 50k gold bars mined and smelted by my own hands (well err, my avatar's hands). How long can I really keep this up? Each level ticks away away like the minute hands of a clock...counting down the moments till I hit this epic 99. The familiar bitter-sweet feeling I had with 99 mining has returned with this final leg of my journey. Yet again I must accept the fact another far-off goal is coming to a close. It makes me imagine what will RuneScape be like once I have achieved my two most desired goals? A question for the ages is it not? [hide=Level 91 screenshot][/hide] My mining xp is just rolling in by the truckload and I have a >400 rank on the hiscores. My pickaxe's ravenous hunger cannot be quelled...it merely craves more and more ore !

Night of the Living Pikachu
I bet you're all wondering why you saw several Pikachus scampering about in people's avatars (including mine) around All Hallows Eve. I shall now recount to you the spooky tale known as... The time of ghouls and goblins was nearing as well as trick or treat. Crew decided to pull a trick of the most devious nature to befuddle our dear users. We donned the costume of our own pokemama and created a charming army of electric mice. With rallying cries of pika pika we attacked with a horrifying onslaught of cuteness: Click to enlarge image At first it seemed as though that such a mass of Pikachus was merely coincidence. Little did the Tifers know that this terrifying sight was no happen-stance. The Pikachu army continued to attack without relent and aimed to strike at the least expected moment! [hide=Pikas strike Image Warz!] [/hide] In the middle of our attack, we had a defector in our midst! Rather than feature our beloved Pikachu, the traitor deployed a chocobo and had the gall to call himself chocomama. We were easily able to thwart this poor imposter's attempts... [hide=Chocomama imposter!] [/hide] Our legion did not go undetected for too long. We began being grilled by Tip.Iters, demanding enlightenment and posing questions about this monstrosity. Panicked questions in IRC, shoutouts in game, everyone was desperate for answers. [hide=HYT chat demands answers] Click to enlarge image [/hide] Finally it came to the point that others began to spread the legion of Pikachus. Whether it was out of love for the terrifyingly sweet Pokemon or knowing the doom of the inevitable, the invasion was unstoppable... [hide=The invasion could not be stopped!] [/hide] Once Halloween night drew to a close, our little Pikachus returned to their one true master known as pokemama. Though we were delighted with their rampage, it is time to remove our costumes and oncemore resume our former identities. The Crew apologizes for the mayhem we caused with our shockingly confusing escapade. Be warned though...this may not be the last you've heard of the legion known as THE PIKACHU ARMY!

Adventurer's Log - Updated 18th November
82 Days and 2 hours...surprisingly not too bad considering my rampant love of mining XD. Sadly that is nearly 2,000 hours though. That number looks way worse...

mining training
I can confirm that the Rimmy rate in f2p is indeed 35k an hour. Unfortunately because I became a member after 99 mining, I didn't have much time to experiment with granite, but I'm quite sure its easily the best raw xp of the game (upwards of 50k an hour for the efficient miner). However, I've spent quite some time getting familiar with concentrated gold, and I can tell you, it is the best balance for profit and xp (40-45k xp an hour whenever I mine there...and an average of 600+ gold every hour). If you do wish to stick with f2p, do not fear...at 85 the skill becomes incredibly profitable with runite ore! Bear in mind though, runite mining is something you do as a break from training. While training in f2p, your profits will be minimal, unless you decide to stick it out and bank all your ores till the very end. Also, disregard the fears of burnout, just know when to take breaks and stay consistent! I didn't try to duplicate my record of 500k+ mining xp each training session :P...I usually did 80-100k xp and called it a day. I even took breaks for months at a time and still managed to complete my journey. The most important thing is to be confident in the fact that you will eventually, GET THERE! Best of luck to you ...

Level 90 Smithing - The Final Stretch!
No...just no...have I really made it to the last stretch? I'm in shock - do I actually see level 90 smithing on my skills tab? I DO! I'm in a euphoria almost as great as the one I experienced when I reached this leg of my 99 mining journey. Tons and tons of gold ores were thrown into the fire in hopes of at least making it this far. Looks like it has truly paid off. To actually be able to smith a weapon that was so dear to me in my F2P days...a rune scimmy...is surreal ! The last nine levels don't feel as intimidating as they should be and I can literally feel the end of my journey within my grasp. No going back from here...its on to the Final Stretch! [hide=Level 90 screenshot][/hide] This level up has come with the added bonus of passing the 17 million mining xp mark! Its just climbing, faster and faster, to new heights...

Blast from the Past
Hey blog readers... The other night I paged through my old mining blog till morning and it brought back many fond memories. I had only just been a RuneScape player for a few months and was already enamored with the game. I had made some very dear friends who have now retired or are not as active as before (namely John Cable14 and The Foo 1000 <3:). 99 mining was a goal that seemed far off and to me it would be an endless journey that would keep me committed to playing RuneScape. I was also an F2P player at the time, that was a humble level 63, who dreamed of wearing some nice saradomin armor (the god armors of course being the pinnacle of F2P armors). It was an interesting day at good ol' Rimmington Mine that lead me to becoming a Tip.It blogger. I was chatting with my friend The Foo 1000 via pm and he was keeping me very good company as I toiled away with my pickaxe. He remarked how amazed he was at how I had come along way since we had met at the Lumbridge Swamp mithril mine. When I mentioned to him that I am going to attempt to go for 99 mining, he told me, "Lady you should blog it!" So I took his advice and decided to create a blog here on Tip.It, since I was already a member of the forums, and had grown an attachment to this amazing community. Writing up my first post on blogscape was a little scary! People don't realize how hard it is to truly introduce yourself :ohnoes:. I racked my brain, trying to think of how people could ever recall who I was, or ever bother to read the babble that I wrote. Then it hit me...whenever I frequented the Mining Guild, alot of regulars there would say, "Look its the girl with a tiara who likes to mine alot! Don't you ever leave?" It was a nickname that gave me a laugh whenever I saw it and thought it was a nice alias to go by. So I stamped my blog with tiara and mining goodness, said a prayer, and finally posted it. Dusty Footage from the Archive Since the first day that I blogged, I've had a rush of achievements follow. Its like the community was behind my back, pushing me along, to get me to achieve my goal. I recall posting this entry when I was near 85 mining and decided to do a pretend rune mining run. It was an embarrassing affair and I was almost ashamed to write about it. Despite the failure of it, I had messages coming in from several Tip.Iters offering help, advice, or motivation...it amazed me how much this community cared about my success! Things only got better and better... So I just want to say, thank you Tip.It community for making me feel welcome then - and for the years to come!

Level 89 - Ninety nine in no time!
IT CAN'T BE TRUE! It isn't possible that I am merely 1 level away from the epic 90s...BUT IT IS! I have achieved 89 Smithing! This mad slew of smithing has caused my gold bar stack to near 30k bars...all mined by my merciless pickaxe . The next level is getting farther and farther xp wise but my determination is just becoming greater and greater. The day is drawing near when I will don the cape of both a master miner and a master smither. I'M STOAKED! [hide=Level 89 screenshot][/hide] Besides my smithing madness, I've had a huge slew of mining xp rolling in kicking me up to a >500 rank on the highscores. I gotta a smile going across my face bigger than the Grand Canyon ^__________________________________________________________________________^ ! I also updated my pc in the wee hours of the morning to Windows 7! I'm loving how snappy this little OS is. Nothing but bright beginnings and a sweet future ahead...

Halloween is Looming Around the Corner...
It seems Halloween is mere moments away and everyone is getting into the spooky spirit! Everyone that is besides my college :(...sadly they do not allow costumes on or around the last day before Halloween. I try to dress up when I can as its an activity that is hard to grow out of :P. Last year I dressed up as a character from Cirque du Soleil by putting together a few things from my closet and applying a feather headdress to one of my favorite theatre masks. There's a chance I may catch Cirque's newest show that is coming to Santa Monica as well! I am uber excited about it!!! Bird of Paradise Can't wait to see what Jagex is cooking up for bringing Halloween to Gielnor again ...

Level 88 - Feels Great!
Oh my goodness, another blog post so SOON?! Yes thats right, 88 smithing is finally mine baby! I can now smith up to full adamant yowza ! I am feeling as satisfied as I did those many moons ago when I was chipping my way towards 99 mining. Though the leveling is going to get harder and harder, just as it did before, my will is almost even more strengthened than last time. I also did not know whether I would be willing to smith gold bar after gold bar in hopes of a method that would provide me with 99 smithing free of charge. So far this has spurred me to mine 18.9k gold ores to smelt at my disposal. Though this is quite a large and impressive number this is only a smidgen of the amount needed to 99. We'll see how it goes, I will continue mining and smelting them till I tire of the process and wish to level another way :). And yes I finally did get access to the Edgeville Furnace... [hide=Level 88 screenshot][/hide] Besides gaining a truckload of ores and bars I've hit the 16 million mining xp mark! I never envisioned being 1 million xp (let alone 3 million xp) over the experience required for level 99. This has had a positive effect on my mining rank and put me within the top 600 miners of RuneScape. I don't think I'll ever be insane enough to go for 200 million mining xp but I cannot tell you how happy I am to have even gotten this far. I just can't ever seem to put my pickaxe to rest though ...

Horrible Leveling
Hey all! My leveling is going splendidly and my gold bars have finally surpassed the original amount I had smithed! If all continues to go well I may amass close to 170k gold bars by the time my journey is over...that is unless Jagex creates a super awesome smithing update that makes leveling nearly as free for me as it is now! The Living Rock Caverns have truly become my new home and there's not a rock in that place that doesn't tremble in fear when I arrive . Ok maybe that is an exaggeration, but I am not letting a single concentrated gold vein have the least bit of rest heh. In other news, I have found a new addiction lately besides mining in the caverns and smithing my bounty, I have become a fan of the amazing web-musical known as Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Yes I admit I was a VERY late adapter of this awe-inspiring musical but at least now I finally had the chance to see it and enjoy it. For the past week it was all I could ever watch as I toiled away in the dark depths of the mine. If you have never had the pleasure of seeing this horrible collaboration by the Whedon brothers...then you must see it now: CLICK HERE TO SEE DR. HORRIBLE'S SING-ALONG BLOG

Mining Exp?
Well I average up to 40k an hour (I have heard of higher numbers being reported but I'm not quite sure they are accurate) with concentrated gold however, I am 99 mining, so take that into account. Its a huge hit from granite but the profit/crafting/smithing material you get out of it makes up for it...and not to mention your fingers will get a rest :P. I was never much into adamant mining myself (I like my rune lovelies he he), but apparently the new Keldagrim mine may be a nice option according to my fellow mining friends. It has Forgiveness of a Chaos Dwarf as a quest requirement though. I'm also slightly concerned that competition may be present there, guess you got to find out for yourself :/...

Shadow of a storm "evil attire"
I finally obtained some mime boots and tested them on Dave. You were absolutely right, mime boots while black are a no-go. Thanks so much for pointing this out to us, you've been credited !
