Rock climbing boots affecting RuneScape
I'm not sure how much I'm gonna contribute, but here's my 2 cents: Jagex took an item with no real value at all that was only used because it had decent stats compared to its cost and requirements (most pures do the quest anyway or was it for the boots, not into pures, don't know) and made it go from 200 or so to 75k. WHO WOULD BUY THE BOOTS FOR 75K? Tenzig wasn't THAT far away and they were relatively easy to get. Maybe some were sold at higher price when someone REALLY needed it, that would be same to put law runes to 10k each as some people stand somewhere stranded and yell that they are buying laws for 10k (in that time they would have walked to that destination anyway). Inflation- making money less worth doesn't help anyone, lower levels will lose their hard-earned money and won't get that back that easily as high-leveled boss hunters who negate the effects of inflation with a drop worth more than a mil, but the high-leveled players usually have bigger piles of cash, which means more money lost. Also, as already stated, some supplies will be bought out by those who gained millions, maybe even billions with this update and I recon that, if no rollback or other update-negating event occurs, in a week or even less, dragon bones, herbs, crafting supplies and other raw materials will rise in price but the supply will be too small to be able to provide raw materials.

E3 2010
I think a dance game is next- Microsoft AND Nintendo both had one for their motion controllers this year.. GT was bad at start but has gone better (no skipping/repeating anymore) Also i feel kinda bad mssing out in the Korea-Brazil football game... Edit 3 or 4: WHAT? COCA-COLA ADVERTISING PS3!?!? You gotta be kidding me...

E3 2010
Anyone else egasming over the E3? Anyways I'm not a big fan of 3D as it needs glasses mostly and it's not in its best stages now, (3DS though looks awesome) but GT5 would be awesome in 3D (the same with killzone 3 and crysis 2) Sony is, like Microsoft, totally advertising its motion detection :( Nintendo did it first, but they try to do it better.. Liked the new 360 tho! The Move thing controller looks weird when it changes colors.

14th June 2010 - Guaranteed Content Poll: Halloween 2010 Reward
Dunno why but chose pumpkin seeds, I guess they'd work like mithril seeds, but only not pickable. Others seem like rip-offs too- Squeaky the bat seems to be Eek's clone, Bone brooch- Easter ring AND Ring of stone, I think the bone-dog will be like the squirrels- limited and bound with an item, mummy costume would be like any other costume they've given us so far... Also everyone thinking that they will only get what they vote for, remember Wintumber trees for members back in 2006 (How time flies) and how we got the Pumpkin head with skeletal costume in 2006, also the puppets we got with the scarves and hats in 2005. *We didn't vote back then though* To be honest, I think it's hard for Jagex to come up with something really new as they've done quite many different solutions for the items, they can't give anything useful anyhow as it would leave the players who weren't online at a disadvantage.

14-Jun-2010 - Castle Wars Kill Streak Competition Result
Out of curiosity, do you know the player who won the competition? Unless you do, you couldn't possibly know what their motives were for playing. Perhaps he/she does enjoy CW. And cocky? Where's the correlation between high levels and conceit? This contest was always going to go to a player over 130 combat. There was no question about that. I'm 136 combat. I must be cocky amirite. The guy who won had castle wars rank of 740 with 2755 score (I guess its games?)

The death of making money by skilling.
Here's one (but not the only) solution: create slayer monsters that can only be killed with skills (and when "damaged" add to skill experience). With that, it's simple matter of "drops" that are unique to monster and related to that skill that can bring wealth back to that skill. For those that think it's silly to mix combat and skills, think about this: A runite rock is already like a slayer monster. It requires a skill of 85+ and a unique weapon (pick axe). It has an ENORMOUS defense, but just 1 hp (once you actually hit it, it dies) with only one unique drop. Changing it up a bit to make the runite rock have more "hitpoints" making it take longer to mine, and can "attack" back by lowering your mining skill, while reducing mining to zero to kill you adds "risk v reward" combatants moan about. Just making it mobile and adding a slayer requirement adds another twist. Also Jagex HAS DONE this already in the past. Where, might you ask. Remember fighting Tanglefoot in Fairy Tale part I? Your strength (maybe even attack don't remember exactly) was replaced with farming level and you needed special weapon (in this case magic sectateurs) to hurt it. It might be the solution for skillers to get their own equipment. These skill bosses could in fact replace dagganoth kings for dragon axe and chaos dwarves for dragon pickaxes or even for better equipment. The thing I find absurd is, that (as I read from your topic) as you suggested that skilling should rarely generate something to make some materials to get a item everyone who agreed was like "Yeah, sure, i'd love to get X combat item" WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO REVOLVE AROUND COMBAT? (ofcourse, I know that Jagex intended Runescape to be combat-oriented, but it has grown into something that is not what they had expected as the world of Runescape has grown and expanded, there are now different types- pures, ones that do mostly PvP, skillers, who never touch combat, questers, who don't care about either of 'em much, some balanced players and so on and so on.

The death of making money by skilling.
[hide=Don't wanna make my post too long, but this is the imporant part] I am sorry but I really do not see it this way at all. This has absolutely nothing to do with potential loss. There is no boss in this game that is 'hard', all GWD bosses can be nearly afk'd, and slayers mindlessly slaughter things by the thousands. Combat is not the best money maker because of risk. It is because Jagex wants it that way. The most expensive items in the game are collected through monster drops. Outside of rares, there is not a single skill related item that even touches combat gear in profit (though I'll give you royal set from Kinglys but I really feel this is more of a result of manipulators need of a rare item than actual worth). This game is geared for combat and skills only serve as a means for players to do combat. Sure there are skillers (myself included) that enjoy that side of the game more but there will never be money in it. Want to know why? Drop tables. Pure and simple. There is not a single skill based item that is not collectible through combat. Want seeds, kill giants, want bars, kill dragons, want anything.. there is a monster for that. Until Jagex reduces skill based items from drop tables and puts a need for skill produced items, there will very rarely be profit in skills. Consumable gathering skills are the exception to the rule but even then, drop tables include those items too. Noted fish, logs, and ores are very common drops it seems. Heck my kingdom nets me a handsome amount of coal, maples, and fish every day. I make money from those consumables and I cannot remember the last time I touched a hatchet, harpoon, or God-forbide a pick. Hunter items are pretty useless outside of a select few (chins for range and the summons) that net a decent profit. These are not part of any drop table that I know of and seem to enjoy their rather stable money-making prices. See a trend here? I think I am going to woodcut. [/hide] Exactly what I had in mind... Another thing might be that nowadays more and more people use gear from these combat-related bosses- bandos equipment and so on, also lessening need for runite gear- before GWD even most high-leveled players used rune plates because another options weren't as reliable- Barrows needed reparing and dragon chains were rare (Kalphite Queen was a formittable boss). As it is now: You combat- get decent gear- move onto bosses- get better gear- move onto more profitable bosses- get even better gear. All you need is some consumables- food, potions, maybe some familiars (there isn't much market there) and even those you don't need that much to make a difference. Every good gear you'd need in skilling though is also gained through combat with the only exeption of adze (might be missing something?). You should be able to gain better skilling equipment by skilling itself. Only DIY die-hards make their own pickaxes and axes (although I think they are better off killing some monsters [see what I did there?])

The death of making money by skilling.
The thing is, that most suggestions in RSOF are 1-hit-KO weapons, or something that hit higher than most things available now, being cheaper and/or easier to get (noone thinks that the point of hard-hitting weapons is that they are hard to get) and Jagex thinks combat IS the thing everyone wants to do. Also they know people want new and challenging bosses and so they release new ones with new shiny and expensive rewards which is not wrong by any means and should be that way, but they should also up skilling rewards. If you'd think about it, how many skilling-based updates can you bring up in a few past years that you can make money with compared to combat/boss moneymaking ways? Combat/bosses: Corporeal beast- divine, elysian, arcane sigils, holy elixir Tormented wraith- holy elixir GWD- godswords, bandos/armadyl armor, saradomin sword, zamorak spear, steam staff, dragon boots Tormented demons- dragon claws, dragon platebody pieces Mithril dragons- dragon full helmets Chaos dwarf hand cannoneers/chaos dwogres/chaos dwarves- handcannons, dragon pickaxes Strykewyrms- Staff of Light, hexcrest, focus sight PVP- Do we have to talk about this? Skills: Impling revamp- Kingly implings, also others, but they are not as popular Double chance of runes while runecrafting- Death, blood, law runes X2 Chance of getting extra runes while runecrafting- Very- very small boost Agility boost to fishing and thieving (also hunter but noone sells butterflies)- Chance of getting double fish/loot Living rock caverns- Rocktail fish (imo biggest impact), concentrated gold/coal I think it's all from the release of GWD in late 2007 (not in that order tho), feel free to add if you think there are some I missed, I skipped some skill updates as they did not give any advantage in money-making like woodcutting revamp and extreme potions being added.

Elemental Workshop IV and the Soul Altar
Knowing Jagex, they'd release a pair of boots, and name it soul sole =/ Nice one! They already did mind helm and body body, that wouldn't be that unlikely I bet. I don't think that's an option as Jagex rarely recycles old puns and they have used boot soles <-> souls pun in a quest where you had to get the Nardah mayor's soul for the genie, I think it was Spirits of the Elid.

Shattered Heart Discussion
I prefer to look at it as "I need to collect 30 rocks every week for a while." It isnt as discouraging. :P Am I only finding it discouraging because of RCing stones? is anybody else finding that it's taking hours an hours to get just the RCing stones? whereas most other stones are doable in 5-20 minutes? Try making runes one by one, not full inventories every time.
