  1. Yaks suck for melee training. Do Defender of Varrock. Armoured zombies are way better xp; plus they have good drops. And use super sets.

One-hitting monsters is awful training; your max hit is being cut off. Dharok's seems to be effective if qeltar is to believed.
  3. Sure? Here they say the opposite http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Barrows#Magic So i was thinking to go to barrows in range armour if it affects the salamander, if not i go in melee armour. The bonus of the salamander goes to slash and range not to mage, so maybe range armour has effect? There's probably zero difference between ahrim's and full melee gear with conventional spells either at Barrows, lol. The melee brothers' mage defence is the lowest in the game.
  4. Void range increases accuracy; just not nearly as much as d'hide. Isnt that what everyone says about melee void? Yet everywhere i go i see people using it #-o People don't like void melee because they assume that it gives a 10% bonus; it's actually around 15% according to Compfreak. Cruel joke on Jagex's part, perhaps?
  5. Combat familiar>bunyip. Use Guthan's in any multicombat situation.
  6. Verac's helm is extremely useful for many many situations. But I would stick to the neitiznot for regular training.
  7. Get at least 70 defence so you can wear Barrows. Post more of your stats.
  8. Battlestaves are good apparently.
  9. [hide=] And where would these numbers come from? The numbers come from how the attacker get's their offensive powers. They tell only half the story. Yes, a large amount (not quite half) of range's attack bonuses come from its armor, but that does not represent half of their offensive power. Not even close. So what? Rangers have higher defence in melee, range, and mage than melee'ers. And Ahrim's gives significant melee defence and impressive mage defence. You seem to be ignoring mage defence. And all this flexibility mumbo-jumbo means nothing unless melee is indeed capable of doing more damage than mage or range. This is in fact true, but you didn't mention that point anywhere in your post. Here's the way I see it: In PvE situations, range is slightly underpowered in some cases and mage is quite underpowered. In PvP, melee is by no means superior to range or mage. Actually, rangers only have more magic defense. Tank rangers usually use a Torag's Helm, Karils, Black, or Armadyl Body, and Torag Platelegs. Rune C bow as weapon, and a shield such as Granite or Dragonfire. The key weakness is the body, which is needed for range acuracy. A melee user can use a platebody, making their range and melee bonus much greater. And Ahrim Robes don't have that much defense. Hell, a DDS can easily rip through dragonhide. [/hide] What melee'er uses defensive shields in PvP? Melee needs the shield spot to maintain good offense; with either a rune defender or a two-handed weapon like a godsword. And I never said that Ahrim's had good defense. It has significant defense, but that does not mean good. However, if you combine it with a defensive shield and a melee helmet you will have good melee defense. Defense is a universal skill that does not tie into melee, range, or mage. Screw the level formula. Neither melee or range are effective all by themselves. Besides, for a skill to be underpowered it would have to be not very useful. Mage is very useful in PvP; regardless of whether it requires hybriding to use it effectively. You have it exactly backward. Melee is the best for PvM (wouldn't call it overpowered); while range is slightly underpowered and magic is significantly underpowered (more due to the cost than anything else). In PvP melee is not superior to range or magic.

  11. 63 players with ruby bolts or zamorakian spears could take it out just as easily. It's called massing; a team of 20-30 players can kill general graardor in like 5 seconds. And the corporeal beast's defence isn't THAT high. We're not dealing with a giant rock crab here.
  12. Salamander gives no base magic xp so even if it did hit and wasn't affected by mage attack (doubt it) it wouldn't be worth it; the xp rate for conventional spells would be far far greater.
  13. Why didn't you use pots lol. Meh, why should i? 60k an hour is good enough for me. With pots im sure you can get upto 70 or 75k a hour though. 10-15k bonus xp is a LOT for a few thousand gold.
  14. i dont plan on getting choas guantlets and im getting blood runes from drop so it would just be easier for me to use them plus im perty sure they give more exp wich is wat i want more btw wich familiar would be better a bunyip to heal minor damage i might get or a bob to sotre more stuff? You will take zero damage there.
  15. The strength bonus makes the obsidian shield far superior for melee.
  16. It's more like 15-17% according to Compfreak. So it'd be 57-58 strength.
  17. Why didn't you use pots lol.
  18. Stand on the NORTH side of the thick rock column in the middle of the room. There's a sort of gap in it where you can stand and they'll be trapped.
  19. Bring regen bracelet instead of black and use rapid heal prayer; it'll heal you 3 bonus hp a minute. Failing that, use a combat bracelet. Swap out unholy book for rune defender and wear either a zammy god cloak or zammy d'hide chaps for a god icon. Even if you choose to use the chaps you should get a god cloak for its prayer bonus. For inventory probably two or three pure sets and brews+restores.
  20. Dragon dagger has 40 stab attack and 25 slash attack. Is it not obvious? Besides, the accurate mode is stab.
  21. No reason to use rune legs; dragon plateskirt is ridiculously cheap now. Whip>D scimmy; if you're training strength SS>D scimmy.
  22. Alching doesn't put gp into the economy; it takes gp out. In fact it is probably one of the bigger money drains in the game considering that it's probably the most popular method (in F2P and P2P) of training a very popular skill. But there's no way the amount of money being drained out of the economy is greater than the amount of money being put in. Most players' bank values increase as they play. And I believe Compfreak stated that it wasn't a problem.
  23. Not to mention the fact that soul runes will probably drop to the low 200s, if not lower. Currently there are not many sources of soul runes.
  24. You, my friend, are an idiot. If the whip was worth 60% of your bank value than maybe that might be logical. But not if you have 30m. The whip has over 15 slash attack and 15 strength bonus over the d scimmy. You think they will go from 1 billion+ to 40-50 million?
