  1. Seems like a good topic though.
  2. I proved that a single proton cannot kill you. On the same grain, and electron (1/1000th the size of a proton) couldn't kill you, either. I doubt a neutron could, either. To avoid stupid comments about super-vacuums: see my simple calculations 2-3 pages back. That's the MAXIMUM energy you'll get out of a proton (it was about 1 tenth of a billionth of a joule) Actually, if you look at it that way, nothing singularly can kill you. Protons, electrons, and neutrons can be used along with other objects to kill.
  3. In the parking lot then, as you are loading your grocieries, someone climbs out from under your car, puts a gun to your head and instructs you to drive to a pre arranged location, or more brutally, simply strips you down in the back of the vehicle. If the shop is active, then there are way too many vehicles around for anyone to notice. Besides, most rapes are carried out by someone the victim knows, and often trusts. This is not the place to debate about rape, but you sir need to be educated. You can not stop people who have no relation to you from abducting you and taking you away but you can help prevent it. When most rapes are carried out by someone the victim knows is the victims fault because you can tell when not to follow someone into a dark alley i hope :? . Have to agree with you lets end this debate. Of course! There's always ways to prevent it. If you think you would get raped in the parking lot at the mall, just stay home. Oh, wait... There are ways to prevent everything. You're not going to get into a car crash if you never get your license. The point is, you usually won't function in society if you decide to try and prevent every unforeseeable event from happening.
  4. Morally, I'm almost obligated in this society to say that I'm glad. Though, I digress in the sense that I'm not. HIV/AIDS does far more benefit to the species, rising at the exponential rate that it is, long term, than without it. That said, if I somehow tested positive for AIDS/HIV, I would of course be mad. But I suppose I would find solace in the fact that I'm only a statistic, and that in the modern world I could live my life as normal for a long time. Great things - all things - come from the smallest of errors, implications, and mistakes. This, no doubt, is no exception. How its used, however, could give rise to devastating effects.
  5. But Apple has clearly stated that no authorized computer can run Mac OS X (they are currently in the process of patenting "OS X" without "Mac" in front of it). The reason Apple can, and has continued to grow is their monopolization of their own market. They've specified that Snow Leopard will not run on a PowerPC CPU, nor AMD's CPU line (obviously). But why? It's actually an excellent marketing advantage. Let's face it, everyone in the modern day that can sustain a decent monthly income has a computer. The problem though, it that computers can last for as long as you need them, usually (we still have a Macintosh 128k in the attic :P ). Windows isn't pulling in many new users, certainly not many from the Linux or Mac community. Apple, on the other hand, can always reel in new users with its largely successful marketing campaign; Vista certainly wasn't as expected for anyone. Another issue faced is that Apple doesn't make the majority of its money through software. That said, you can't give an operating system to other manufactures and hope to make money selling your current product line. Apple is seen as luxury, or quality company to some, doing so would severely hurt their image. I'm all for getting a cheap quality company, certainly one that doesn't run Windows, but you get what you pay for. Apple doesn't have to rely on the death of the previous computers, it only has to reel in Windows users. Windows isn't pulling any new users? Hello, what OS did your elementary school use? Macs actually. :|

  7. Meh, I went to the same school as Shaq, and had teachers that taught him. That's about it. Meh.
  8. "Hello *crying* I broke my leg and my rib feels broken, DOCTOR, help! it hurts!" "HAHAHAHAHAHA, chuckle-chuckle" Sadistic ????? Profit The laughter came after I got out of the costume, and when everything settled down. :P
  9. Well, I never really talked about this incident, except between family and high school journal topics. But, now that I look back it is slightly funny. Anyways. It was during my sophomore year and I was the role of a proud stag. The day of the play happened to coincide with Halloween, but it ended at roughly 6 o'clock. My friends and I had decided to go trick or treating but I didn't have time to get a different costume, so I figured I'd just be dressed as the deer(two of my friends went as belly dancers). After going door-to-door for the majority of an hour, we became blanketed by darkness. Of course, it was around this time that the MPs (Military Police) began urging kids to go back home; it was past curfew. So we began our adventure back to my house for what I had planned to be a slumber party. On our way back, one of the belly dancers threw her pillow sack (used for the candy) the street into the parade field. Figuring that I was being funny, I pranced my way across the street much in the way that deers cross the street, to fetch the bag. After I had successfully received it, I gladly skipped my way back across the street. But a car just happened to be in my immediate path, without my knowledge (cars are required to turn their headlights off upon base entry, when they check ID cards). It was only after I jumped into the street did I notice the car heading straight towards me - no headlights. The car did hit me that night, causing a fractured rib and a broken leg. Thankfully it wasn't worse. We did have our slumber party that night at the hospital. And I received quite the laughter from doctors and nurses.

Or like I said on the first page, and then BlueLancer after me. You only stated the result, not the cause.
  11. Even if he doesn't, you can contact Apple. In my previous experiences (iPod), they just sent me a box with prepaid shipping and I sent it to them. Five days later, it showed up at my door again, free of charge.
  12. I had a real weight problem in eighth grade, I joined JV soccer for the school the following year and lost twenty pounds that season. But, that said, I did gain back half of it in the off season. But I went on to varsity the next year. So, I guess having friends and a (nice) coach to push me was the key to my success, because like you, I set up a routine for a week and never saw it again. Join a school team, like you said, it really helped me! Good luck!

LCDs don't turn off individual pixels, so it doesn't use any less energy for the majority of the people using LCD or LED.

Are you kidding? If you had done that on a college essay, you would have surely been kicked out. Putting "Thanks Maddox" doesn't justify your post as anything less than a plagiarized story. Cite your sources. I'm well aware about college essays, I've written many more than you have. I didn't have the source handy, and I was to lazy to search for it. It was saved in a file, which I happened to read. As you can see it took all the matter of a few hours for somebody to get a source linked to it. Let me Google that for you. That was only the first two sentences. -.-

  17. Do a hard reset by holding the home and sleep button. If that doesn't work, open iTunes and restore your iPhone as a new phone. If this doesn't work then it can't be a software defect (at least, one that you can fix). At this point you can call Apple or take it to an Apple store and they'd be happy to give you a new phone.

Coming from the person who posts that all feminists are the equivalent of a Nazi. I'll try not to take offense. Like Goddess said, those are some pretty large allegations based on opinion. The author you essentially plagiarized is ignorant, insensitive, and an [wagon], so I don't know why you'd quote him. Until then, I suggest you Google the differences between testosterone and estrogen before calling me a sexist.
  19. Well, I guess I can't argue with that. That's it? No Ownage? Dude you forget to put your thinking cap on? Ah well, would proton traveling at light speed have the ability to kill you or is it too small? You saying we got a winner? :o That wouldn't work. It doesn't make sense though, as in, the energy at rest is accurate. But, the fact that they move implies that they have more; kinetic. Splitting one, however, wouldn't give enough energy off. The total amount of energy, in current states - while moving - give off much more energy. Depending on how we use that, it's possible. Logically though, a proton could be fired at speeds slightly slower than light, hitting the nucleus of an atom. The neutrons then go off, doing the same to others. I don't know if you would consider that a way off death.[/hide] the key thing here is we are talking about one proton, if your shooting a proton into a chain reaction then the chain reaction/particle accelerater caused your death. Maybe in the technical sense the proton lead to your death but if we go by that line you cant die from a knife since it would be blood loss. You have it backwards, in your analogy, it would be the start, or the chain reaction following. So, it would be the guy with the knife > knife > and then blood loss/loss of motor functions.

I certainly will, and have, made broad statements towards the equality of females. Being an [wagon], because no one cares? People do care, plenty do. Women get paid less than men, significantly. Using the army is one example of many. Why shouldn't women get paid more for being a customer representative? Women are usually more benevolent, right? And, I could say the same for your statement; why should you care? Should we deem you as an [wagon] because you care about the statements of others? I wrote this with the impression that you wrote this. Damn.
  22. Well, I guess I can't argue with that.

I believe that the very word, "unstoppable" implies that nothing else can exist alongside it. EDIT: Oh, you said that. Sorry. :P
  24. 1. The ashes could be inhaled, clogging you lungs where you die of suffocation. 2. This is about people in general. 3. Inflamed esophagus, when you swallow it, it goes down so far that it cannot be coughed up, but to far up to be swallowed. Losing balance, and stepping with the slightest step on it, where you slip and fall. I'll try to move to more reasonable approaches, but again, everything physical can kill you. Period. 1. The ashes are spread somewhere remember? Over an ocean, in a forest, etc.. 2. I'm definately not the only person in the world immune to Chicken Pox, or other diseases for that matter. 3. An ice cube of that size would melt before reaching esophogaus 1. Any number could reach someone. 2. Some people aren't. 3. Actually, it depends on how cold the ice is. Don't bend my rules/facts just to make them play out in your favor. 1. Let's say somebody died in 1800. They were cremated and their ashes were spread over the atlantic ocean. 209 years later, I am completely safe from that person killing me. Even if by your baffling logic the ashes somehow rejoined together and targetted my throat, it wouldn't be the person killing me, it would be the ashes of somebody that used to exist. 2. I'm pretty sure the title of this thread is Is there anything that can't kill YOU. Guess what. Chicken Pox can't kill me. Bam. End of discussion. I don't care if other people are immune to it or not. I am, and therefore, it can not, and will not ever kill me. I could say the same. 1. Were we not talking about the ashes...? In which case, you answered your own question. And if not, the body no longer exists as a body, but rather the ashes. Deeming this as a new term, the ashes, or the body in perspective, killed you. 2. You know viruses, bacteria, hell all organisms evolve over time? There will eventually be different strains, which, there are. You is a general term in this case, not referring to anyone in general. That's the way it has always been in this thread.
  25. If they both stopped connecting, that tells us that it's a problem with the router, or signal. Try unplugging the ethernet on the AirPort and plugging it back in after thirty seconds. If you have a modem with it, unplug that as well. That always helped me with my wireless woes, but I don't have AirPort.
