What do you think Jagex will mess up next?
Its almost obvious that they're about to eliminate player to player trades in another attempt to stop trading... I just hope they don't controll prices with the Grand Exchange. Come to think of it, everything they've updated trade wise points to this. Shops have infinite stock, reducing reliance on buying runes from runecrafters or arrows from fletchers through trade. Assist allowed people to help friends be less reliance on trade and helped them rely on each other... I'm planning on selling everything in my bank, due to the fact that i'm not sure what the price caps or rules for the Grand Exchange will be.

Curing the Disease by Killing the Patient
Well, PC was a semi compromise. People can still play it and still gain about half of the xp they once did. However, 50mill compared to 3k is absolutely nothing.

Curing the Disease by Killing the Patient
I hope they throw it in the bin. History proves that listening to players and their complaints merely screws it up more. This post actually does more negative effect in the long run. What? How could they possibly screw up staking more? They KILLED it. Yes, your point being, what? Stakers don't own RS, they need to shut up and get over it. And quick. The comic raise up to 5k per 15 minutes should be a big sign, enough for even dumb people to understand that Jagex has made their decision, and if not respected, than stop playing. And by all means stop paying $5. I'm sure even Jagex would rather miss out on money than keep having a barrel of rotten apples intent on spoiling the bunch. Fook, we understand that you think just dm'ing in the wild is fine, but jagex had a great system in place that people could all meet together and have duels. Whether or not a duel can occur in the wild like it would in the arena has no bearing. The point is that jagex had a great thing going for people. Those people invested a ton of time into it. And jagex just took it away and ruined the practicality of it, turning the duel arena into another gimmicky minigame. Just because it doesn't effect you doesn't mean it doesn't effect a lot of other people. Qeltar, great article. I was thinking of writing something along the same lines, but you did a perfect job. Really though, with the way they're approaching rwt, what'll be next? Protecting us from drop trading by limiting us to only be able to drop 3k on the floor at once? Only allowing us to drop 1 item per hour? Making it so we can only drop items at certain predetermined locations? They've already made items like spinach rolls needlessly untradable, what else are they going to do? By taking these drastic measures to protect the 'honest players,' they're ruining the game for them. I can't help ask if the end really justify the means. I understand that YOU think there was a stable duel system running. But. Is it rational that a level 50 has more money than someone level 99 smithing who worked for it? Is it rational that a level 50 has BILLIONS worth in items, gained in few months, when someone else playing the exact same game for longer has practically nothing, seeing as the person wanted to .. hmm lets just say construct, or do smithing. I'm sure you can see how imbalanced that is. It was ridiculous that stakers, a mere different kind of fighter, with stats so obvious and so easy to get, could be the most powerful people in RS, moneywise. Lets face it, its only because people can't make millions in a matter of minutes, that they whine like female dogs now. Well news flash, people played before staking was changed, and they certainly will AFTER. I know I will, and I hope that the ones who played for staking ONLY, actually do quit. Either that or stop whining. I half agree with what you said. The Duel Arena was unstable. Why? Because, you could lose or gain 50 mill in a matter of minutes. This makes it and its users unstably rich or poor. Its like gambling. I have a job, I work hard, does that mean that its unfair that people win money in the lottery? No, its merely an unstable way of making money. You could win the grand prize, or spend thousands of dollars buying losing lottery tickets. Either way, I make a stable income from work. So yes, there are the rich low levels that gained that money in short amounts of time. But there are also those who lost duels and got poor. Somebody who gets 99 smithing is going to make money for sure along the way. Participating in a duel is a 50/50 chance. You either win it all or lose it all. It just depends whether you like to take risks with your money or if you like to make money steadily. (I don't stake btw.)

Curing the Disease by Killing the Patient
I'm sure Jagex thought of how to deal with that... (sarcasm). Duellers are mentally impaired if they can't think of another way to make money. And it will be their own effing fault if they stay poor now. Well yes, but making players poorer generally leads to more players breaking the rules to get richer. 15 out of 16 duellers may go work on skills or hunt monsters, but that one dueller may go to a pay for gold site to get rich quick, since their method of getting rich quick is now gone.

Curing the Disease by Killing the Patient
I'm sure Jagex thought of how to deal with that... (sarcasm). Andi if they haven't, I'm sure they'll think of something. Probably a limit on how many trees you can cut or how many people you can kill in the wilderness for an hour... Heck, why don't we just turn runescape into a large chat room... The way the updates are going, it looks like that's happening.

Staking riot
Lets take a look at this mathematically. Say i had 1 mill, and bet for 1mill 64 times. In the old system, I would have won technically 32 times, gaining 1 mill each time. This would equal out to about 32mill gained, not including costs of food and potions. Now lets take a look at the new system. Depending on your rank, you can play in 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, and 2 people tournaments. If I was to stake 64 times in a 64 man tourney, i would win.. once... So i would lose about 63 mill... If i was unlucky. If I was a Def tank or had 126 combat, the odds would be better. Unfortunately, the new system is chaos. Also, there is no runner up, which leaves the person who got in second place with nothing. Due to the nature of the new tournament system, there is no way to make a consistent profit, and there is no more skill anymore. Its just pure dumb luck. And yes, 1 on 1 duels take skill. Albeit luck is involved, skill is required. Jagex might as well have attempted surgery with a chainsaw, you might remove the tumor, but the patient is dead. I congratulate you Jagex. You have demolished staking. I would reccomend you start with capping fishing next, and make people only be able to catch 3k worth of fishes every hour. Better yet, make a catch and release program, where you get xp but not a fish... *rolls eyes*

20 November 2007 - Duel Arena Tournaments and Changes
Melodramatic much? Not even close? Staking didn't die. It got slaughtered. First they killed an already established system, then attempted to compensate by giving people a tournament style way of staking, one that was flawed and lets higher levels dominate everybody else.

Well, there aren't many pure stakers, but about the average player who stakes occasionally to gain money?

20 November 2007 - Duel Arena Tournaments and Changes
Jagex went way too far with this one. The riots are going to get way out of hand.... This update was either to get rid of high staking, or to drive people to go to the other arena beneath the duel arena... Either way, I'm anticipating that stakers will stop paying for their membership, and then they'll begin to lose money.... And then they'll hopefully get this right.

Words Can Kill (Mods, Please Lock)
Were it not for their actions, there is no doubt in my mind that the girl would be alive today. They did cause the girl to kill herself. Yes, I know. Your post more or less hinges on that. It's sad that adults harrassed a teen. That is wrong and very ugly. However, if I should tell a salesperson (irl) who is incompetent that he doesn't know what he is doing, is it my fault if he goes off and and hangs himself? No, he did that, not me. :-k The girl had allegedly tried to commit suicide before and this is very likely as most, especially girls, do not die on their first suicide attempt. The parents already said Megan was suffering from depression. Her depression was the actual cause of the suicide. The word "fat" and "[bleep]" are heard everyday in school but people don't kill themselves everyday over it. A friend of mine on Rs whom I have known for 6 years just scammed of 2 mil and a whip. If he posts here that I am a fat [bleep], am I going to kill myself? Nope! Nor would my "friend" be guilty of killing me if I did. She was suffering from depression, which makes it seem as though problems are insurmountable. To her the problem (in this case the myspace incident) seems to make her life unbearable but actually it wasn't the incident, it was her mental illness that made it seem that way. It is true that they are not the cause of her commiting suicide, however you do say that her depression was the cause of her suicide. Wouldn't the parents be part of the cause for the depression? :-k Just playing devil's advocate.

Words Can Kill (Mods, Please Lock)
Yeah, I read about Megan on Msn News... Its just vile when adults screw with kid's minds. And a response to those who think that she deserved to die, or wasn't a genuine death.... A death is a death. Wheter it be a murder, accident, or a waste of life, its still a death. Don't say that she deserved it or that its a good thing. :shame: I also know what she went through, I was suicidal during part of my life and almost did it, luckily one of my friends talked me out of it, and it was due to real life bullying. On a more positive note, I hope the parents sue the crap out of the other family.

Runescape being used as a pawn.
HOW DARE THAT KID WASTE HIS VALUABLE TIME PLAYING VIDEO GAMES! I mean, he could go outside and throw around a football.... or maybe he could... uh... wait, isn't that a waste of time? I mean, its not like he's gonna become an NFL player. I only play for 14 hours a week, and feel no need to go outside and do physical activities if I don't want to. Maybe the kid doesn't like football, or sports? Wonder if the parents ever considered that? (I just love how the parents "urge" him to go out and do something real, like watching a movie or playing football, and then bringing up how video games won't get him anywhere. :XD: :XD: :XD: )

Monday Poll: How many times have you quit RuneScape?
I quit for about a year in 2005 because it was getting boring, then another year in 2006 because there was a kid in one of my classes that was addicted to runescape.... and wouldn't stop talking about.... :ohnoes: :ohnoes: :ohnoes: :ohnoes: :ohnoes:

Hopefully, they start banning some of these people.... But, knowing Jagex, they won't.....

November 5th Assist System.
And its not really worth it, in the time that somebody would take to log in with their two accounts, the same person could have made more xp just grinding.... Not that i've tried it.... :-w

lock please
I think it will make merchanting a lot easier. Why? You can buy out your lower prices, thus removing them from the market while at the same selling their product.

important news regarding my RuneScape character
Great job Jagex, ban a loyal player mod when you could have banned an autoer or a real scammer. :notalk: I feel for you, and customer service is absolute bullship (you know, the ship that takes bulls to the market). I've been banned on my pure accounts before and I know how you feel... Sometimes I just want to do this... To all those mindless ban automation responses....

Should there be a Guaranteed poll for the Christmas Event?
Remember, Jagex using logic is like barney shooting the entire cast of Barney with an Ak47. We all want it to happen. It just never will.
