I've finally done the quest. While I thought it was a pretty good quest I do have an issue. The length. It was pretty short for a Master quest. I mean, it might take you a few minutes, but honestly it's a Barrows run and then Ghorrock. Don't get me wrong, the fortress was cool and all, but that should've been part of the quest, not practically the whole quest. So again, Jagex gave us a short quest, as they have done with every quest this year with the only exception being Chosen Commander. On a personal note I was disappointed not to see Sliske in this quest. I'm not really criticizing it, I was just hoping, you know...

Why don't you actually read other peoples' posts before mindlessly flaming a new update? I'm having computer issues at the moment. I didn't see the last 3 posts. The issue is on my end and I made the mistake however. Still, I'm over Holiday events, but that's more of an opinion in General. I do however like that they couldn't release both on the same day. That would be work.

If this is the entire update for the week, that'll be five weeks of absolute crap. This is getting a bit tiresome. <_<

All I'm gonna say is this. Are there some people who have a legitimate cause they believe in? Yes. However I am of the opinion that after the Soviet Union fell many of the Communists of the world needed somewhere to go. I think they went into the enviromental movement and are currently using it to achieve their goals. <_<

I stopped to think about it for a second then realized it's just a name at this point and I don't care to speculate. So I'll throw it out there as a new line of Jagex licensed lingerie. :^_^:

Dev Diary - Elite Tasks - 19-Nov-2009

That sounds like a good requirement, but we could make it slighty more interesting. How about after killing a Cave Crawler, you must get to the end of the cave in a certain amount of time (in which there is plenty of time to spare if you used the shortcuts, but otherwise impossible if you do not) and damage a kurask? The final requirement could be removed if neccesary (or changed to attempt to attack a kurask with a correct weapon, so that crowding wouldn't be an issue), but it adds an additional high-ish level requirement and overall makes the task more interesting than "use a shortcut". @Me_hate_Libs: Most of those are really... poor for Elite rewards, although some would be pretty decent for the lower leveled ones. But the Seers effect is a fantastic idea; not only does it fit well with the theme of Seers, but would be a very convinent yet balanced effect. :D I know they're poor. They're not meant to be awesome. The only difference for Ardy completion, aside from the exp rewards, is unlimited Farming teleports. Woot... That's exciting. They're meant to be little helpers, not pure awesomeness. You'd also get exp rewards in addition to nice extras. -
The past three updates

Basically it was all upgrades and no real new content. That's fine and all, but it gets rather tedious all these upgrades. -

Yeah, but I think that would have to be done via a quest. This would just be a way to help you deal with it for the time being. Maybe we could add a cart to TBW and have it work similar to the Canoes on River Lum? Again, I think this has to do with Temple Knight quest line, not Diaries. Maybe they could add some White mage/range armor to it? Dunno. Yeah, when I came up with it I thought is sounded badass too. -
Well, when Jagex fixes a problem they tend to have a bit of what I call "throwing the baby out with the bathwater" effect. Sure, many of the changes they make affect the people doing whatever it is they want stopped. The issue is they do this by making it so that no one can do it even within a reasonable amount. Instead of doing something smart and targeted, they just have it affect everyone. A few examples being personalized shops, pure essence, removal of wild. Now there is little debating their ends, we just sometimes need to question their means.

Okay, I had a couple of idea for rewards. Varrock: Vannaka can teach you how to wield 2-handed swords in one hand. It'll require 30 levels above what you are trying to wield so the best would be a D2H at level 90 attack. I don't think this is too bad. Relleka: Your boots can count as a Seal of Passage. Not much, but I rather like it Karamja: Boats from Musa Point and Brimhaven can take you to Ardougne and Port Sarim in addition to normal routes, and vice versa from Port Sarim and Ardougne to Brimhaven and Musa Point. Meh, best i can think of. Lumbridge: Like i said, Ring would give a few extra runes on all runes crafted, not just elemental. Falador: Free Lever pulls in Party room. You can drop balloons and get the Dancing Knights for free. Meh. Seers: Telepathy. Essentially, your Seers Headband 3 would give you telepathy which would allow you to communicate with anything. So it would act as an Ammy of Ghostspeak, M'Speak, Catspeak, etc. I think this is really good. -
Jagex changed my name without telling me... (non-offensive)
Me_Hate_Libs replied to antonwhy's topic in Rants
As much as Jagex wants to have their game being in different languages it will always have a very English base to it. They have other languages to accomodate people yes, but there are still guidelines where it must stay in English. -
Personally I wish everyone would shut up about mage being underpowered. Damage output might be a little low yes, but we don't need higher damage dealt, we need more side effects. Spells that can stun, knock people back, etc. All of those things are in the game already under different monsters. We need more than just damge + freezing.

Even though it won't help much for f2p, I think a good idea for Hard Lumby reward is to make the chance of making extra runes include all runes you are crafting, just not elemental. May not sound like much, but an extra 3-4 natures or laws per run isn't half bad for a "Hard" reward. -
If you want to talk about repercussions and trying to fix them, frankly releasing items that are straight GP drops into PVP was one of the biggest bonehead, [wagon] moves in the games history. Now they're doing everything they can to fix it, minus something to actually solve it, like removing them.

17th November 2009 - Potions, Spells and Runes
Me_Hate_Libs replied to Jon Arcane's topic in General Discussion
Rawr, I wasn't referring to new memembers specifically. Actually I was talking about people who are members and have paid for that month. Now if you're like me and someone gave you a membership card for a month because they were trying to get into your pants, and you decided to redeem it because you wanted to do the Ardougne achievement diary the thursday after it came out, then this four weeks would have truly sucked for updates like it did for me. I imagine there must be other people out there like me who got a month around the same time I did and got this crap for the past month. They'd probably be annoyed as well. -

Wow, that's a surprise. What's a suprise? Me calling out another skint update? I'm not trying to bust on it. I'm calling a spade a spade. Sure it's nothing awful, but it's a fairly minor update. Just more tweaks and patches really. And yeah, it's been four weeks of low end updates. Am I the only one who thinks this? I'll put it like this as far as the update. If you look at things on a monthly basis, and I do because that is how we pay for the game, that would be four weeks for updates. If you look at the past four weeks and grade these updates, it's been a very, very weak month on that level. I think of anyone who may have gotten their members for these four update weeks and that's where I tend to look at it and feel bad for people who have payed for membeship. This also is only concerning updates made to the game, not the game already in. Why are you always on me about this? Should I start criticizing you every time you mark out for some crappy update? How about you do me a favor? Put me on ignore and I'll put you on ignore so we can go ahead and not have to associate with each other anymore? -

Well, I won't call it an Upgrayedd, but I'm still underwhelmed. It is another upgrade though. This month, as in past four weaks, has been rather thin as far as updates go. Other people might not, but I'd call it a dry spell. -

So..Jagex is working on Make-up for Girls
Me_Hate_Libs replied to XxTearGodxX's topic in General Discussion
Make up? Sweet. I can't wait to look like a total trollop. -
We got more bank space? :P I think its been a great year, but nothing has been able to top While Guthix Sleeps from last year in my opinion. That quest together with HD made last year one of the ones ive liked the most. Are you telling me that Runetek5 that let's me click on a vial in one tab and withdraws a death rune from something 3 tabs over, or simply doesn't withdraw it at all, isn't great?

BSing? Let's face it, Jagex staffers have a level 99 in it from all their experience in BSing us.

Okay, first off, what exactly is "upgrayedd" supposed to mean? Besides being completely unpronouncable, it makes absolutely no sense. Upgrayedd = Upgrade :P Yes, we know. But we're still trying to figure out what it means. I've read through entire updates threads wondering if I was the only one scratching my head. :| And this. Oh, I can explain it. Upgrayedd is the name of a character from Idiocracy. Basically it's a movie about what would happen if everyone in the world devolved into morons over the next 500 years. And he spells it with two D's for the double dose of his pimp hand. Anyway, I started calling Upgrades, Upgrayedds because I found the whole idea of substituting large content for the upgrades rather stupid. I understand that upgrades are necessary to the game, but I think there have been too many in lieu of bigger updates, more in depth additions, etc. I also think that the new content has suffered in terms of length and playability because of the upgrades, can anyone say 2009 the year of the 20 minutes quests as well? Basically though after I post this I'll be ridiculed for my opinion because everyone here likes to mark out for the upgrades and put them over like they're the best things ever, when in many cases they're just fixes to problems created by Jagex in the first place, case in point, the 38 thousand PVP updates we've had this year this year. I don't rip on the other news stuff because that's what it is, other news. Small fixes. Those are usually fine, as are the patch notes. But when this kind of crap is pawned off on me as an update for the week, I get irritated. Also, I think that the upgrades should be made, but content shouldn't have suffered which I think it has. So when I see an upgrade that is crap, like this Champion's challenge and the Leprachaun champion, which doesn't even give you the music which is also dumb, so that the whole thing is completely idiotic I'll call it an Upgrayedd, because I think it's a stupid upgrade. News Flash: MHL likes to whine about updates, but we still love her. I only ever really complain about updates. You'll rarely hear me whine about anything else because I think the game itself is still very good. Also, I don't PVP so you never hear me say anything about that except for the constant attention they show for it instead of doing something useful, like giving depth to their updates. And I've complained this year because the updates sucked this year. Upgrades were fine, updates sucked. Even the Holiday events seemed phoned in this year. I mean give a replica item from an earlier holiday event i.e. rubber chicken and the carrot, and go back to the Reaper's house again, I mean why waste existing code when you can save time *and* give an unoriginal event? Yeah, other than that, I'm cool with Jagex, though I appreciate if they hit the tanning booth before they do their next video. Their paleness hurts my eyes. :x -
I think the new content for this year has been awful. Some of the Diaries were good, but the quests were all very short and many didn't advance the storyline of their respective quest chains, sans Chosen Commander. The Upgrades were fine, but I still contend that they should have been done in conjuction with regular content. I do not think the upgrades should have ever been updates, they should've been "In Other News." Sure, most of the new content has been very good, but none of it was great. All of the great updates this year were upgrades. No new piece of content this year can in my opinion be considered great. The closest would in my opinion have been The Chosen Commander quest. Also, I think a lot of the new content has also been either too plain, unoriginal, or uninspired. Case in point, Living Rock Caverns. It's a good update skillwise, but I found the story behind it, it's underwhelming release, the cave being flung out there with no other explanation, it just felt lazy. Same as the Agility upgrades. Sure, good skillwise, but they just added some obstacles on exisiting courses. Again, felt lazy. I don't think the whole year has been awful. I'd just describe it as lackluster. Nothing to be excited about.

Again, my rant wasn't about the updates, but more specifically update planning. After today's, it felt rather grim.
