Genesis and The Big Bang
Radio Carbon dating. This is the most often used objection to a young earth. As radioactive elements age, they break down into daughter elements at a presently consistent rate (based on our current knowledge). However, the problems with untestable assumptions in dating methods are most obvious here, as a date depends on 1) knowing the starting amount, 2) knowing the history of the decay rate, and 3) knowing that all contamination has been accounted for. Obviously, these assumptions cannot be proven without an objective history of the specimen being studied. In fact, there is growing evidence that radioactive decay has not always been constant and that the rock layers could not have formed over millions of years.

Reading
I am an adult, and yet I have read that series at least 5 times through. Very well written indeed. However, I am a voracious reader, and read almost every book more than once, or twice. Some I have read as many as 15 times. On the topic of colfer, Airman is probably his best work. Personally, I just finished reading through the Inheritance Cycle again, and it is easily on my top 3 book series.

Genesis and The Big Bang
1. First bolded statement, is horrible. There is not enough evidence to combat religion at ALL. There is tons of evidence that combats the literal meanings of the bible, however if you were intelligent you would know it is THE MOST researched book on the entire planet that to this day has not had it's symbolic meanings entirely deciphered. I can guarantee you on the subject matter I am more educated that you. I have spent tons of my time researching this topic and taking arguements from both sides, and in the end I still strongly believe there is a God. I study Marine Science and have undergone countless lectures on evolution, astrology etc. In my spare time I study astrology and the origins of the universe, and I'm here to tell you they do not counter religion, many of the points support it. 2. Your point about the 21st century is actually incorrect. This centuary marks the decline of atheism, not the "revolution" as you put it. Newton, one of the most intellectual men of his time ( and perhaps of ALL time ) hypothesised and concluded many scientific ideas that only were recognised by Einstein centurys later, however in Newton's time the work was not published as it lacked sufficient evidence. Such a man awoke each morning and had to sit for hours before starting his day in order to deal with the large amount of ideas that came to him. His intelligence was unparralleled, and even with all this scientific information, reason, and deep intellect, he believed in God. God is not a product of "uneducated, less intelligent people." You do not link science with the intellect, and religious faith holders as blind fools. Such a link makes you an ignorant fool who shows no respect for people just as educated as yourself, though with a faith you lack. First of, decline of atheism? Thats why atheist has doubled in the last 20 years right? Funny how i live in one of the most religious countries in the world ( Brazil), yet when i go to school over 75% of the people i know is atheist. Second, LOL, Newton, really? Newton lived around/ right after the middle ages, when religion ruled EVERYTHING. No one knew about Evolution, Big Bang, age of the Earth, or ANYTHING at all about science. Creationism was the only explanation they had at the time. Don't compare someone who lived so looong ago to someone from the present, that has scientific information. And for the bible being only simbolical... Well, i admit that it is possible for a God to have created the universe via Big Bang. I actually sometimes imagine a god creating the basic rules of the universe, creating all matter via Big Bang, and then waiting for something interesting ( aka life) to appear. Once life forms with intelligence appear, i can imagine this God making an experiment with us, taking forms of different prophets and Gods, and seeing how we would react to them. But, thing is, there is no evidence for such thing, and until evidence is found, it is unscientifical and shouldn't be discussed by scientists. You using loathing, instead of logic. There were people who were athiests back in Newtons era, as they exist now. Please, if you are going to insult, instead of instruct in your believe, then why post in a debate topic? This is supposed to be an intelligent discussion.

Genesis and The Big Bang
You see, you typify most evolutionists. They claim that "no scientists disagree with evolution" when in fact numerous do. Honestly, the majority also thought the earth was flat, and had "evidence" to prove it. Many people don't believe in global warming either. As well, no missing link has ever been found. The argument mentioned earlier that very few early human remains have been found, and that is why no missing links have been found, actually proves my point. If the earth was created around 6,000 years ago, then the oldest fossils would obviously be around 6,000 years old. Essentially, there is not solid proof for either argument. However you attempt to shut us up by intimidation. I, however, use logic. Matter doesn't create itself, which evolution claims. Creation claims that God created matter. Now, if I were to find a chocolate cake on the table, and asked who made it, the person stating that my sister (whom I have never met) made it would be more easy to believe than the person stating that the cake created itself. Now, no analogy stands up to close scrutiny, as you can all see. Now, to those who are saying you can prove evolution, or the big bang, you can't. You just can not. You can not repeat those events, (although some theorize that another big bang could occur, but I digress) and you can not witness those events occurring for the first time. Neither can you prove that God created the earth. To those who say God is a crutch, I could simply reply that the reason Darwin thought of the "THEORY" of evolution, is because he was a disgruntled preacher. Of course, I am not claiming this, merely stating that this excuse is as valid as the other, nonsensical. There are numerous proofs against the Big Bang however, such as Uranus. If I have a big ball of clay rotating at a very high rate of speed, and pieces fly off, then those pieces will rotate in the same direction as the original piece of clay. Uranus rotates in the OPPOSITE direction.

Items Kept on Death
No, "Items kept on death" stated he would keep his Armadyl chestplate and that is why i suggested he should use it (and he should it's good to use when ranging Bandos, also great magic defence against sergeant). He already took a risk going to Bandos: Loosing over 600K+ (He was using quite cheap items) So i don't see how he should loose +20M more when the system said he would keep it. Logic, a subject which should be taught in schools. Items kept on death can't tell the future, obviously. Items kept on death didn't say he would keep those items no matter what, only that those valuable items would be kept over the other items he had in his invy. You don't seem to consider that minor flaw in your logic. That is like me going to a +1 BH world with an AGS, looking to see that I protect it, getting an ancient stat, and getting killed, while I lose AGS. "OMG ITEMS KEPT ON DEATH LIED" Your friend should have known that ACP has a very low protection value, and shouldn't have picked up rune plate. All in all, it comes down to the fact that your friend was careless.

YOU build my laptop
Yes, I know to reinstall OS to get rid of the crapware. From personal experience, I have had nothing good to say about HP. Although I had problems with my Dell, they were all my fault, so I was leaning towards something else. I saw a sweet Toshiba I may lean too. Qosmio X305-Q712 Laptop * Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P7350 * Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium (SP1, 64/32-bit) * 4GB DDR3 memory * 320GB hard drive (7200rpm) * NVIDIA® GeForce 9700M graphics (512MB) * 10/100/1000 Ethernet * Integrated webcam & FM tuner This was around 1400 bucks around 3 months ago. With Christmas coming up, I think I could get one similarly priced with some slight upgrades. Looks aren't too important for me, but this one looks awesome. I would prefer even a 120 GB harddrive if it were 10,000 RPM, as I have very little in the way of media which I store on my laptop. Instead, it is backed up. However, the 10,000 RPM harddrive is rather hard to get in most laptops.

No.
Not at all. I don't give a care what most people think of me, as those people's opinion of me will have no influence on my future, my career, or how I sleep at night.

Items Kept on Death
However, in RS as IRL, you take the risk that anything could happen. He thought the risk of something bad happening, which would make him lose his ACP, was worth the advantage it gave him.

Items Kept on Death
Ok, so we know we can't go by the GE price. The reason some items are more valuable than others in a set, is that they are lost more, at least partially. This is especially the case with barrows armor. If we changed that, the price change would most likely be radical. I will admit, a little tweaking would be nice, but not really needed. Jagex has done this recently, in the case of crystal shields and crystal bows. That said, it is fairly hard to die in RS, unless you are careless. Deaths from power outages/ laggy internet are the exception, and if this problems are an issue with your RS experience, whenever you MH you take that risk. In that situation, it is your job to, beforehand, find a person to bless your grave, or accept the risk. Now, if you have never/rarely had a DC ingame, due to some outside influence, then of course it is outside of your control. However, one most remember that life isn't fair, and you had beforehand decided that the risk you had of losing the items, however slight or large it would be, was worth the increased advantage you gained by using said items. Personally, I have died fairly few times. In numerous trips to GWD, I have only died once. The reason for that death was that I was AFK'ing sara with a clan trip. I came back, and was dead. My careless was only reason. I also got all my stuff back. I've gone solo to all the GWD bosses, DKS, KBD, KQ, and TDS. I've never died and lost anything at any of those places. If I had died, without fail, I would have lost from 5-70m, but I thought the risk was worth it. In other words, for those who go tl;dr, I believe it is your job to find out what items will protect over others, and by using an item, you accept all risks. The manufacturer is not responsible. Some very slight tweaking would be nice, with items such as ACP/Skirt, but otherwise I believe the status quo doesn't warrant a change.

Is it just me?
MHL: Finding things to ***** about since joining TIF. Although you may have a point, its coincidence. Jagex would *never* upset their players, right?

Things that annoy the hell out of you
Not thinking homosexuality should be called marriage=homophobe. Not scared of them, just disagree with the whole "its marriage" thingy. People who can't logically argue their point. People who can't sing insisting on doing so, loudly. (Sometimes 6 years of voice training is a pain...) People who insist the American constitution is a live document, or that the founders were deists.

Realistic training
100k an hour is only at high, near maxed, melees. I'd say at flat 90's, with piety, salve, and prossy, you would be getting around 85k an hour.

How long does it take to get 99 RuneCrafting from 44?
Figure 23k an hour average, starting at 44, for S&G. You will need roughly 12.9m XP. That is like 560 hours, or equal to 40 hours a week for over 3 months.

D chain at Dust Devils
I highly doubt d med off fire giants is 1-1600. 1-1500 sounds more reasonable. It is impossible to even form a close guess with such rarity. I would say, however, that after 20k kills, you should have had a good chance at getting one.

YOU build my laptop
Ok, I am tired of my new used laptop, and am planning on selling that as well as another older laptop I have, brining in around 650 bucks or so. I have a budget of from 900-1200 dollars. I don't really care if the graphics are incredible, as long as I can run my games on medium detail. I am quite a techy person, and was leaning towards this. Any ideas? I game, do vid/picture editing, and multimedia, yet nothing incredibly spec heavy. http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=dndobm3&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19 I am highly technical, so any reasons for another would be appreciated. Christmas=deals as well. either 15 inch or 17 inch, must be at least duel/quad core, with something around a 2+ ghz pro. and preferably a dedicated vid card.

Mother Gaia: An In-Depth Manual to Farming
I probably missed it, but could you give me your average xp/run per tree run? I may begin doing this soon. In addition, whilst is may cost more to protect some trees then it is statistically worth, you are also guaranteed of that 10% extra xp.

Genesis and The Big Bang
Um, what? Firstly, as a general gripe, people need to stop pointing at the Crusades like they're the critical piece of evidence in a murder case. The Crusades were really nothing more than the personal campaigns of corrupt popes who thought they had a claim to Jerusalem. There was no such thing as fundamentalism to disagree with at the time of the Crusades. Rome was the center of the world, and the pope was the most powerful ruler in Europe. Whatever he said went. The Bible was available only in Latin or Greek, making interpretation limited to those who could read it, which was basically the clergy, which answered to the pope. No random peasant could read the Bible for himself and decide on a fundamentalist interpretation. He couldn't read the damn thing. That was a major point of contention in the Protestant Reformation, which began in the early 1500s, 300 years after the Crusades. Why did Martin Luther and others like him want reform? Because they disagreed with the policies of a Church that had built itself an empire and was now primarily interested staying on top. That meant keeping the common folk ignorant of the actual contents of the Bible. So how much can such a secular interpretation be counted on? Martin Luther ended up leading a rebellion because the Church was selling indulgences, which I'm sure can be universally agreed upon as wrongheaded. The Church reformed itself at the Council of Trent, and much later again at Vatican II. If you want to look at it this way, it could be said that the Church is still fixing itself up from the days when popes publicly acknowledged illegitimate children and appointed them as bishops. Basically I got kind of annoyed at how the Crusades are thrown around, because people seem to think they are a hell of a lot more significant that they actually are. I'm not sure if there's a real driving point behind this post other than a history upchuck, but hopefully the upchuck will add a bit more depth to the "damn Christians just kill everyone" argument. Take what you will out of the fact that no one but Church officials could read the Bible until the sixteenth century. It's also worth nothing that the Church put Galileo on trial and forced him to recant his heliocentric model. Only huge amounts of scientific evidence--Copernicus, Galileo, Magellan sailing around the world--finally forced the Church to reconsider its own literal interpretation. And remember, the Church's interpretation had been somewhat muddled by the secular politics of Christendom. So whether it was valid in the first place is questionable. And holy crap this thread just exploded. Yes the crusades have been thrown around a bit to much. Though I think it was worth noting that it was the christians not the muslims who massacred prisoners so they could go quicker. I would also like to remind people about the inquisition among other things. No not the part of The History Of the World Part:I I am talking about essentially a reign of terror by the religious officials that got many decent people horribly tortured simply because the did not share a certain denomination of the abrahamic faith. Also going off topic here has anyone noticed that the christian "New" testament has a very toned down god (in comparison with the one in the torah ) Not only were those crusaders Catholics, and not really Christian in the intrinsic doctrine of the all men being equal and all that, but none of those arguments have any bearing on this argument, any more than for me to claim that Darwin was gay and a murder would.
