  1. perhaps "lazy typing" would have been better than "shorthand" for his article... people use acronyms/abreviations such as lol, tyvm, etc all the time... like I said earlier that doesn't make you look stupid or like you're an idiot... it's the "wat he do?" kind of talk that just makes me want to cringe upon site... the purposely using incorrect spelling and grammar to save 1-2 seconds of typing... I'm getting nauseated just thinking about it... Thank God Charlie's permanently banned... LOL
  2. It's amusing to see you ridicule the author about his attitude... with such humility and constructivism. Anyway, it seems many of the people with negative replies toward the article are taking the article too extremely. To me, it seems this person is referring to the people who type like illiterate morons, the most extreme of language slaughterers in the game... Simple, easily read, shorthand doesn't make me think less of the person typing it (at least in an informal setting)... e.g. when people don't capitalize sentences or "I" when typing single sentences at a time... or using "u" for "you"... that in no way makes reading the sentence more difficult... Made you want to reply, didn't it? Keep in mind the purpose of the Times is not only for a good read, but also to entice readers to discuss the article, whether or not they liked what the author had to say... so if what you read got you stirred up and made you want to refute him, it accomplished exactly what we want it to.
  3. This week's Tip.It Times has been released. Feel free to discuss the article or post any comments. If you have any criticism, please make sure it's constructive! :D
  4. ^I have a feeling you have never read a book that wasn't a picture book in your life. Very thoughtful thread, I feel that this is a very possible situation. Though I'm not sure if the JaGex is unmoral enough to do this. Do they seem that money hungry? As for the JaGex being in cohutes with cheaters, don't you think that the cheaters might tell the legit community that this is happening? After cheaters hate JaGex for sure. Kah Bah Gee! well... string beans are better. What's wrong with people who don't read books? I haven't read a book that wasn't for class in 10 years, and rarely read books that are assigned (skim through them at most, usually). Granted he shouldn't have flamed... but some of us don't care much for reading ;)
  5. meh.. 200k ain't worth the bother to get all that junk :P kudos in advance to whoever does it.
  6. The only problem with this info is that your gains from the chest are based on a random number generator. If Jagex doesn't use kill count as a factor in their random number generator (other than you must kill the 6 brothers at least), then it IS just coincidence...
  7. Noticed they've been adding TONS of player mods... props to them for that... it's needed. I got reviewed but had too many reports for language against me :( bloody noobs reporting me for all the lines with ***** in it... (most of the time it wasn't even censoring too... I manually typed the asterisks) Anyway, go work at Jagex and convince them to let tip.it be the official fansite of RuneScape ;) ;) ;)
  8. My preferred method for banning was the actual hands-on technique. I think that another nice method would be for them to send a message to a suspected macroer that would go across their screen in bold-face print: You are going to be banned for autoing if you do not say something intelligent in the next : 120 seconds (and have it count down). I am getting pretty tired so I hope I explained that right lol. Basically what I am saying is this: They do not have to use in-game reports. They can simply go to the flax fields and clean them out. Then hop to the next world. One or two people could hit up every spot with relative ease once a day. After a month of this how many bans do you think that they would acquire? Lets say 2 per spot and say they only police 5 spots a day on every single world (5 minutes max is all that is required to identify, ban, and move on). In eight hours a day, 5 days a week, for only one month I think that they could easily outdo their previous bans. The messaging thing would not work because some programs even have an autotalking thing with it, and telling them exactly what to type would be pretty unfeasable (wouldn't want somebody banned for a typo or something stupid eh?). As for manual searches, they've been doing that in common places like the mining and fishing guilds, which we've already seen big results from.
  9. The game has grown too large for Jagex to be completely personal like you say they were in the past. There are over a few million accounts in the game, and as they've posted, up to 185,000 logged in at a single time. Jagex staff would have to be HUGE to be personal with this many players. As for macroing being easy to detect, they still have to go through thousands upon thousands of reports a day and verify whether or not they're even legitimate... no matter how good their detection is, they still have to check these claims (and I'm assuming they do manual verifications before banning).
  10. I'd rather get logged out than have a random kill me...
  11. most people will choose obby shield, because for anything better than looks it is definitely better. (don't listen to albosky... :P) Think about the difference... which is that dragon square shield offers +10 defense more than the toktz-ket-xil... considering the strength of most high level players wearing barrows or dragon armor, this is +10 out of around 280-350 total defense bonus... big whoop? It makes a 3% difference (in bonuses). Now consider the typical whip user (my point is strengthened with almost any other weapon anyway). With climbing boots, berserker, and whatever else, you're topping out around 90-100 strength bonus (little more if you have fire cape). So the +5 strength bonus you get has a larger impact, proportionally, than the +10 defense bonus you lose to get it. For combat purposes I'd choose toktz-ket-xil over dragon sq any day, although for looks and status, dragon sq is still the way to go (so how vain are ye?)
  12. Rune Scape You would know that if you ever got the Evil Bob event. He takes you to a new world called "Scape Rune". My mom use to call it Run Scape, if that means anything to anyone. I'm pretty sure he knows the correct way to pronounce it... anyway dragon, I noticed that a while back too... I should've listened to their self-defeating subliminal message... or maybe they feed off the defiant attitude of their target audience, and by telling them to run, escape, it will make them want to play more as a way of defying the command... or maybe it's just a coincidence
  13. not to mention if somebody is selling d legs... there's no good reason why they would be selling it in notes... Not like they're going to stock up and merchant them lol.
  14. Ironic you post about laziness but were too lazy to check your grammar... Anyway, if buyers of dragon legs can't notice the name, size and (slight) color difference, that's their own fault.
  15. of course it's not a joke... people with yellow/blue colorblind hardly had a chance with the old box (I'm sure other types of colorblindness too). Same reason they altered the name of prayer book pages.
  16. I'm a big fan of food you can make without having to fish the stuff... and if you did it in bulk you could probably do stuff in a pretty timely fashion. DOWN WITH FISHING! :D
  17. sounds like they will put the monster in the actual wild itself, not like the KBD with a lever to it... would make things pretty dangerous fighting it... with the way Jagex teases it'll probably just be a dragon pickaxe lol
  18. what is and isn't useful is completely based on the way a player plays the game and by what means they raise the skills they do... e.g. things like buckets and bowls may be absolutely useless to one player, and vital to another... Full rune is useful for a PKer but not for a skill totaller... advice on what to keep or not is entirely individual.
  19. We have all the old articles archived, so if you liked those maybe you'll like the old ones too ;) http://tip.it/runescape/?times=archives
  20. LOL They keep f2p banks small to get you to buy members :P
  21. Perhaps... but only so much can be said about potatoes and letters... lol. This week's updates didn't give the editor much to work with. Who knows, maybe Jagex will read it and give us some room ;)
  22. This week's Tip.It Times has been released. Feel free to discuss the article or post any comments. If you have any criticism, please make sure it's constructive! :D
  23. he obviously had a friend attack while you were in trade. but umm... your own fault for taking 700k gp to the wild... should've made him come out.
  24. muahahaha! The best food in game and you don't have to fish for it! My day has come! *thanks all the people in catherby who don't keep their tuna*
