  1. If the guy was stupid enough to take a picture of himself, then he would've been stupid enough to stab the guy. Especially in the States (but in growing amounts in UK too), street thugs are even willing to murder a person for ridiculous things like an MP3 player or even a store clerk for $80 bucks. Or maybe those poor teens think they're gaining 'street cred' and earn respect while incarcerated. Ha ha... Yep, sitting in jail with 25-50 year old people who who deal in guns, extortion and drugs worth millions of dollars, they'll certainly care about some boy who committed murder for a music player other than exploiting him for their own needs.
  2. Meh, I wouldn't even call a guy this stupid a 'criminal'. He's just a low-IQ thug with no common sense, sadly for american taxpayers, this is the kind of bottom-feeder that fills up U.S. prisons and consumes $30k/year in upkeep.
  3. From a mathematical viewpoint it makes no sense to use longswords over a scimitar... Let's say your average scimitar natural hit is 17 (not max; just average), and with a longsword it would be 18. A longsword hits 20 times per minute, a scimitar hits 22 times per minute. [*:2bad71z6]On average, a longsword will deal 360 damage per minute [*:2bad71z6]On average, a scimitar will deal 374 damage per minute And the 17/18 are interchangeable with your real average hit... The damage difference/attack bonuses are too small to compensate for the speed difference, you're actually hurting your combat effectiveness by using a longsword. There is no rational reason for using a longsword over a scimitar in RS2 (if both are made from the same metal). In the long run, a scimitar will statistically always provide you more XP due to a higher rate of hitting per minute.
  4. You sure you really want to have those skills? They don't really sound like good ones to have to me. Almost all skills are good to have... Emotional indifference can be a real asset in job interviews, perhaps interrogations, diplomacy, and the aforementioned, poker tables etc... It doesn't mean you *actually* have to be a sociopath, but being able to switch your emotions on/off sounds like a skill to me. Because not all people can pull that off
  5. Heh, learnt plenty at poker tables over the years... When someone is telling a blatant lie, for some reason they 'brush' their upper lip with their finger, or cough & look down after the act. Not that you can apply psychology on everyone... There are a lot of people at the emotional level of a psychopath who will show no remorse or signs of lying, you just can't know if they're telling you the truth. They don't use body language, move at all, they just stare blankly at you. Now that's skill, I can't achieve that yet but maybe some day..
  6. Taxing $2,000 out of every american citizen's pocket to bail out failing, private owned subprime lenders and banks doing irresponsible overnight loans... The above article sums up well why the bankruptcy of those companies is the correct answer, and fortunately enough the congress did reject the $700bn bill. Bankruptcy doesn't mean those companies and banks disappear. The profitable aspects of the business still stay, just under new management. But their mistakes shouldn't be paid by the "average Joe". "Average Joe" didn't force those banks to grant $200,000 loans to people with broken credit scores, lending hundreds of millions per night to other, unstable banks playing on currency futures as if it's a game of roulette.. Those institutions will need new, more competent management which is also objective & critical to pressure from the congress.
  7. Anabolic steroids and any other kind of illegal or legal 'supplements' (hormone accelerators) don't have any effect if you don't actually work out. You don't just magically gain muscle by taking them, so that theory flies out of the window.. Very, very few people under 20 can stand the physical and mental stress of steroids, if I were you I'd stop doubting this friend of yours... And a lot of people do work out at home. I've gone to gyms all my life but have recently thought of buying home equipment as well.
  8. He edited his post, give him a break guys. 10 pounds in 3 months isn't unheard of for an absolute beginner, I personally know beginners who gained up to 15kg of pure muscle (and I could verify it at the gym while they measured body fat % with a machine) which is 30 pounds.. In a year's time, 12 months. With the perfect diet and workout+motivation, it's absolutely possible within the first year of working out. It should also give further motivation, sure, it wont be a big difference, but you'll notice it in the mirror After you gained about 30-40 pounds of pure muscle in a few years, you'll clearly see the difference and you're almost a different person. Your face becomes less round and gains shape, your arms are thicker, if you compare the after/before pics you'll barely recognise your old self.
  9. You already got a thread about this at: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=763862
  10. This suggestion reeks of radical feminist vegetarian with [bleep]y pink-dyed hair and emo glasses. No offense if you recognised yourself, but only a very idealistic, naive person could come up with such an impractical idea and actually propose it to a big company. Like mentioned.. What are they going to do, hook up humans to machines for multiple hours a day? Do they have any idea how many humans it would take to even cater to a day's worth of ice cream for a medium sized town?
  11. I wont be some patronising hypocrite, I don't smoke and oppose it for health reasons... But if I were in your situation, I'd probably start smoking 1 or 2 a day for stress relief.
  12. http://spreekillers.org/index.html I don't know if it's sad, or alarming, that these kind of sites pop up even as bad jokes. For all you know, a very unstable person could try and get on the "hiscores" next. The whole concept seems a bit distorted and bizarre to me.
  13. It 100.00% depends on your height and weight plus gender & what activities you do throughout the day. Age is a factor but a very small one, 3,000 calories is way over the top for most average people. Use this calculator for reference http://health.drgily.com/basal-metaboli ... ulator.php Using a simulation with a 18 year old guy @ 6'0 tall and weighing 180 pounds and moderate activity (some excercise and walking).. The basal metabolic rate is 1877 cal, per day, total energy req. 2628 calories/day. If he were to eat your suggested 3200 calories a day he'd keep gaining weight for the rest of his life at a fast pace. Keep in mind a lot of tip.it'ers are kids, possibly not even that tall or old yet, a small % of the population needs so much calories per day
  14. Every cheap food probably tastes crappier now than it did 10 years ago... Budget cuts, budgets cuts and then some more material cost cuts. Competition is extreme now... They're made from the worst possible materials ('high quality' are just 2 shameless marketing words) which are usually bought from poor countries for the lowest price possible. ...And you really don't want to know all the things they put in the hotdog meat these days, just eat it and don't give it a second thought. [hide=Appetite spoilers below]Cow tongues, brains, calves' feet, eyes, chicken beaks, bones of various farm animals, livers, hearts, tails, remains and leftovers ... All molten into a big pot and squeezed into industrial cheap meat Read your food ingredients.. If it includes 'gelatin', you've been eating one or many of the above for ages. Not that it's horribly disgusting, just... Not the best quality food possible[/hide]
  15. Understandably not a lot of people on some fan site will take BB 'seriously'... That advice was in case you really *do* want to build mass and focus on it for long periods to reach goals. An average guy who just works out for the health benefits probably wont have to worry about catabolism and cutting down on cardio. Off to gym now too btw, hehe.
  16. Well I didn't bother posting that at first since a lot of misinformed folks here would get upset despite the truth... It's a well known fact you shouldn't do excessive cardio during bodybuilding periods, it will make you lose muscle (the correct term like you said is 'catabolic state'). There are supplements which prevent catabolism but even those alone don't work 100%. If you both want to build mass and do cardio... It's a bad combination. Rather, cut down on your diet and maybe walk to the gym instead of taking the bus/car. To quote about.com encyclopedia.. It's better to do periods of cardiovascular excercise for a week or more, then gym, etc.. Rather than doing them both at the same time.
  17. I sort of agree, some of the new tip.it smilies look a bit dumb. The :D smilie looks like someone who is bothered rather than happy.. " :D  Uhh.. That's an.. Interesting.. story sir.. Now if you don't mind I'm going to leave for lunch. [sLAM]"
  18. http://www.conservapedia.com/Liberal_hysteria  Yep, really professional alternative to Wikipedia... And I smell B.S. on their claim they have over 50 million articles... P.S: For a good laugh compare these two articles: http://www.conservapedia.com/John_Mccain http://www.conservapedia.com/Barack_Obama Very objective and unbiased.
  19. Sad to turn encyclopedias into politically motivated sandboxes... Not to mention Conservapedia has a lot of ridiculous articles, factual errors, quoting personal opinion blogs as sources, countless spelling errors... I'd take it with a pinch of salt like the Encyclopedia Dramatica (which is a joke, as in a piece of satire)
  20. Without going too far into describing my 'inventory' or safe contents, I have 2 aluminium baseball bats. And no I don't play baseball.
  21. ...Understandable to stab your own brother over a $2 hamburger and possibly cause his death? I guess some people like the ones in the article have really distorted family values... At least my father taught us & it still applies in practice... Me and my brother are like one... I'd share half of anything in my pocket, bank account, house, if he ever truly needed anything. I'd go to jail for him if it meant he can go free. Doesn't take much of a survivalist to buy hot pockets or hamburgers... Just look at the american reality of 'survival of the fattest'... It has nothing to do with natural selection. A brother is supposed to help his family stay alive, not stab them..
  22. Heh, that reminds me.. On another forum which is about bodybuilding, there's a guy with like 18,000 posts... Not just any guy though, he's been going to BB contests for many years and keeps a blog. A pretty impressive physique too.. Posting online isn't auto = 300 pound everquest geek with chips bags for lunch... But yeah, most people on OT (of any forum, not just tip.it) don't really associate with the site theme. I also quit RS over 4 years ago... There's some offtopic people who quit even 6 or more years ago
  23. Which is why I gave up posting on religious topics pretty much years ago... Sure, you might cite sources, and there's some people around here who really know their Bible or Qur'an (like Barihawk and some others)... Most of the time, when you present facts here, there's no reply, 20 pages down the road somebody says the same old, wrong information again. The cycle goes on forever. What baffles me: Why people don't want to find objective information? I don't personally care about being right or wrong, about ego, etc... I just want to know the truth. That should be natural for every person seeking intellectual discussion: Ultimate, absolute objectivity. Facts aren't good or bad, they just exist. Even if they put you or me, or the church, or anybody in bad light. Next excuse: "They're catholic so their opinion doesn't count" (nevermind the fact catholicism is by far and largely the hugest denomination of christianity in the world)

No, please do entertain. Would Iraq used one of it's 20 old-soviet era jets and flown over the pacific? Their 1 submarine and load it with commandos? Al-Qaida and other radical militants don't even operate air vehicles, so I'd like to know how are a bunch of extremists going to "attack" a country thousands of miles away over a sea. It wasn't an attack against the 19 Saudi Arabians who flew planes into american buildings... It was an attack against a weaker, oil-rich nation that had nothing to do with 9/11 or providing safe harbor to militants (which Saddam viewed as a threat to his own national security and power).
  25. Muslims dont wear turbans. The sikhs do. Its with good intent, but i have a strong feeling that it wont yeild any fruitfull results. Mostly due to ill informed views, and the wonderfull people who care less to know. Sometimes people are beyond [developmentally delayed]. Headscarfs then, or w/e you wanna call it. You mean a burkha? In fact, actually, that's proof more religious education's needed. I don't really care what it's called, just a rag really. Nah I don't think more religious education is needed tbh, I just don't care about that lesson. It's a shemagh wrapped around the head to protect from dizziness and extreme exposure to the sun & sand dust/storms... People use anything that helps in survival, just like people in the northern hemisphere used to wear multiple layers of animal fur to protect from extreme coldness. It has nothing to do with religion, even christians in arab countries like Lebanon use it, jews use it, many western armies use it...
