True loi... In the end it doesn't matter at all. It'd just be best if the usage of browsers was more distributed. As long as IE stays the most used browser, phishing scammers, virus writers, trojan CC# thieves, will continue writing code that can infiltrate the PC through Internet Explorer. It goes against common sense to use IE, since almost all the malicious code found online is optimized to infect IE. Infections for other, superior browsers are practically impossible to make due to advanced anti-trojan/hidden install methods and content blockers, or have ceased to exist. I don't recall ever having hidden installs or other virus problems with Firefox/Opera

Tried it, besides the few history functions, it offers nothing new to browsing. Opera is already superior to both IE and Mozilla in terms of usability/speed/features, so unless you'd happen to be a huge Google fan... This browser is just a novelty item. It's like Apple's Safari for Windows. That's the only actual improvement I see it has over Mozilla or Opera (which still hang up if 1 tab crashes due to buggy code on the site). Snapshots of favourite sites, etc.. Are old news, opera had them for years now...

First I thought Jagex is way overreacting to stuff like macros, real-world traders, etc... It's just a game. Earn revenue, ban the occassional autofisher/cutter, carry on. But if they did nothing & just let people macro and trade hundreds of millions freely... RS would lose it's meaning as a "game", and it's economy would become more controlled by criminals running gold-farming sweatshops than Jagex itself. Being able to buy hundreds of millions of game currency with real $$ just because you're rich, is pathetic and ruins the game. So in that way it's good Jagex got overly serious at least in one issue.

I know 1 song that fits your description, it resembles the Pulp Fiction song. Could be this one you mean. Scroll to 1:10.

To be honest it seems cartoony, as if to appeal more to the younger demographics instead of trying to assert itself as "serious". The old one looked more professional. The old design which was basically letters on runestones, looked better fit for RS... Guess they grew bored with it  Pff.. It's a medieval game. The few female warriors that existed back then, werent some wimpy magazine-cover girls with nicely braided hair and a pink dress. That looks like a woman who could actually have mental fortitude to kill.

Nah, that would be an absurd, insane amount of $ to pay for pizza. $90 singaporean dollars equal about $60 bucks american. Not that bad of a price for 7 people. I never thought of it that way. Since I was about 11.. I thought as long as money leaves the family, everyone 'loses' it. It isn't confined to just you personally. 1-800 numbers are free, but assume you got a giant bill for being on the phone for so long.. A bill with $250 service extra comes in the mail next month.. How would your parents not notice that? It's not like an everyday expense. That's 1 less Nintendo Wii or whatever you wish to buy, wasted on a single phone call.

1, 2, even 5 F500 companies don't really matter that much in the grand scheme. Take Microsoft for example.. It's market cap is near $250 billion dollars. Yet it's value keeps swinging up and down, just a single negative court case brought it down $80 billion (link). There were no ramifications or effects on any country's economy, barely even the american one. Even if it had dropped all the way from $250B to $0.00, it wouldn't matter. The only businesses in the western world that directly effect people's daily lives are the petroleum & food industry. IT, clothing, technology, entertainment, construction, customer service, manufacture & anything else is ultimately just secondary. If all the major farms/food producers went bankrupt & tons of oil companies got brought down due to corruption charges... That would make economies and stock markets worthless for a long time, assuming it also happened in countries which the US imports those goods from.

Report had a good point.. What if you already are black? So the title could be viewed as racist.. Edited it slightly. The clearer the image is, the more accurate results it will portray. Save on hard drive & put this image in the converter, and select east/west asian, it's stunningly accurate. [hide=][/hide]

Remember 600 quid is about $1200 dollars :D Might be out of his price range at the moment.

I don't know any other western country than U.S. with such a high drinking age, 21. I don't really like alcohol, but the restriction is a load of trash. 18 year olds can perfectly well decide if they're going to have a beer, a sip of vodka, etc... Or maybe it's the small, idiotic minority keeping those laws in effect... You know, the ones that do drunk driving and get into unnecessary accidents because some genius in the group started drinking too much to show how "tough" he is. They maintain a bad image for the age group 17-20 as practically still being 'immature', punishing others in their age group with their stupidity.

I find it amusing you accuse me of not backing my claims up, and then fail to provide any proof for your own statements. Reporting history is considered for every person chosen to be a Player Moderator. Bug abuse reports included. It's common knowledge. Until Jagex start providing proof of their nomination process, there's a vacuum of information and I'll continue to fill that vacuum with my *belief* (not knowledge) that reporting people hastens your process of becoming a Player Moderator. Not that it couldn't have changed from around 2004 when I was there, but back then, from what I remember reading on the p-mod forum, there isn't a "process" for most people. Personally I didn't even report a single bug. The most obvious tittertales who go around reporting every minor, slightest 'violation' are labeled as "not suitable for player moderator duty". If the reporters are annoying enough, a j-mod could even issue them black marks or exclude them from reporting. They look at the quality of reports, how often you make them, did the report result in a ban, how serious was the offense... If most reports from a player are single starred words accidently written by other players, pseudo-insults like "bug off", he's never going to make it. The quantity of reports has nothing to do with how fast someone is chosen, if at all. Someone only making 20-30 ingame high quality abuse reports (serious bullying, scamming) and about 1 serious bug report (like a dupe bug) plus posting on the forum, would make it likely faster than a guy who made 800 unnecessary reports.

(You could argue Obama doesn't really have any merit either, nor has he held any executive position, but his election would send a clear signal to other countries USA is still free and anyone can become the president) What message? That anyone with money can become President? Obama is not an average Joe. He may only have one house, but that one house is worth just as much as McCain's. He wears Armani suits and Rolex watches. He has made stupid political discussions. Sounds like just about every other President. Except he's black A person watching his speeches on TV in a rural village of Indonesia or any African country wont know what brand of clothes or watches he's using. He will see a black man in a politician's suit has became the president of the free world in a country of mostly white people. That's the only message most of the world will see if he gets elected; Freedom. It will pressure other nations to do the same, "why not in our country?" An average labourer in any country doesn't think of issues with complex analysis as teachers do. It's a really simple message... A person whose ethnic background is of people who used to do slave labour, could be the president of the entire country. Regardless of his wealth, it signals "anything is possible in a free country"

Sweet16s/Debuts: Big waste of money or BIGGEST waste of mone
BlueLancer replied to Faux's topic in Off-Topic
It's a single freaking day of your life. It's absurd and crazy to spend 20,000 dollars in 1 day on practically nothing. Even the mafia barely does that with ill gained money. You can still have awesome memories and have fun with friends using $100 to $500. It's not about money... Anyone could borrow a few thousand from their parents/family/grandparents if they really wanted to. Is there a point? No, unless you're one of those morons on MTV who get paid to act spoiled... When I turned 18, I just had a normal party. Also got my driver's license paid for... And it was enough. It's not that big of a deal, individualism is growing into dumb proportions in some western countries -
You're right, it's not the best example, because a Jagex staff member could view it as an unfair advantage not having to dismiss the familiar (even though a very slight one). Not that these bugs are permanent, but it'd seem absurd of Jagex to ban an entire account for it. Maybe a blackmark if an employee was having a bad day, but ban...
-
Jagex policy says they can ban you for abusing any bug found in their software that can give you an unfair advantage. Like if you were able to use P2P weapons even after your membership ran out. Were you to find a bug like that, you could probably be banned fast. Bringing a summon into Grand Exchange doesn't give you any kind of advantage. I'd ignore those wannabe-mods who tell you they "reported" you, they're just running out of things to snitch on & getting desperate. Also, something to consider for the over-enthusiastic reporters, noted in bold:

Meh.. I think both Biden and Palin would make o.k. vice presidents. It's just that people don't vote for VP's, they vote for presidents. Biden is a senior politician with extensive foreign knowledge, and Palin has executive experience. Wouldn't mind voting for either, but the fact McCain's main "resource" is the fact he was a prisoner of war, doesn't really make him that much more credible... He and his entire family are military men. He's not dumb, far from it, but I don't think he has much merit. (You could argue Obama doesn't really have any merit either, nor has he held any executive position, but his election would send a clear signal to other countries USA is still free and anyone can become the president) M16 rifles, NATO rounds, Humvees, MD500's, Blackhawks are all made by american companies. The money isn't leaving the country when congress approves another $50bn. spending money in Iraq; War "expenses" go to the pockets of those companies because the war keeps going on and on. Nobody in Washington has anything to gain from fully withdrawing from Iraq, except losing money in epic proportions

I thought the 'mode' was just misspelling for 'mood', since I couldn't find 'realist' I just put pessimist in there. But all it turns out to be.. Is slow down/make the clock faster  Maybe if you put 'optimistic' and that stuff, it means it's your 'optimistic' life forecast. Remember this thing is just entertainment.. Heck, any of us could die tomorrow..

I'd doubt you not knowing what impeachment means, but impeachment is bringing criminal or civil charges formally against a President. Can't exactly do that to ol' Bushy, unless looking stupid is illegal. His approval rating isn't so low for no reason or dumb 'Bushism's... It's because a lot of people do think he's done illegal things. Iraq war 'expenses'.. Other than the salaries of soldiers.. What expenses are we talking about? All the reconstruction, weapons, ammunition companies, aircraft companies like Sikorsky.. Are all american. Every time he asks for more war funding, he's really giving money to his fellow cronies especially in the arms industry. From the treasury of taxpayers.. At the expense of american lives in Iraq (plus unnecessary civilian deaths). Wouldn't mind either Obama or McCain to succeed him. Just as long as he's gone.

I doubt a democrat would get control from the sound of Palin's 80% approval rating in Alaska. I don't know where you pulled that number from, but when she was elected, she had 48% of the votes while the runner-up got 41% of the votes. Somehow, I doubt that that 48% went up to 80... Your numbers are dead-on accurate (she indeed got elected by republicans with a 48% vote share compared to 41% from democrats), but approval rate is different from that. It means how high her post-election approval by the population is. And Palin is actually quite popular in Alaska even amongst democrats. For example Bush's approval rating has been dragging in the muds for a long time, his approval rating is now near the 25% mark (which means 75% of americans generally no longer consider him fit to represent the country, so that figure must also contain 1/4th of republicans who voted for him in the first place). If people could impeach a president he would be long gone, no other president is having so low approval rates. It's different from election vote share

Yeah, I do find it funny a bunch of random kids on tip.it (no offense) magically happen to belong to the 0.05% to 2% of population that scores above 133 and up to 165 on IQ tests/are some child prodigy. Far from "jealous", my score was 117 at sixteen years old, and I only ever have known 2 people (out of dozens of people I meet) who have scored mensa-level IQ, which somewhat fits with the statistic of a few % of the general population. Really, an online test doesn't count at all. The moment I saw it rank me on 142 I knew it's false. I'm not equipped with that level of mathematical thinking, it's a load of b.s, and degrades people who can truly rank so high on IQ tests. It's pure absurdity to believe there is a statistical deviation somehow on a fansite of a java game that rules out 99.87% of the general population, with everyone being a near genius or higher.

What motive would a bunch of white professors have in declaring that asians constantly score higher on IQ tests than any other race? I think you're not being objective. They don't have a motivation; It's just the result of their research. Racism is a hateful belief that degrades human beings. It has nothing to do with those studies. I'm the farthest thing from a racist there is (and my parents are of 2 totally different religions), and I can still acknowledge ethnicities have differences. Really, besides a few miracle runners and Yao Ming, asians will get crushed in basketball by black players and track running. Besides a few naturally talented smart black guys, asians will score a lot higher on an IQ test than black people. Those are just crude, un-racist examples which apply in the real world. Or is it also racist to say asian people are on average about 10-15cm shorter than europeans? That's a racial difference. It's not hateful to state a fact which exists. (That no longer has to do with the topic at hand, IQ, though)

What? Are you suggesting a moving telescope that travels faster than light? I think Herr Einstein would have something to say about that. The world is still quite uneducated about some physics related subjects.. The media isn't helping by spreading wrong info  What was the editor thinking
-
Like said above, it's common knowledge IQ tests are geared towards people living in western societies and cultures, it's slightly biased. But still it doesn't explain how, for example, asians score usually significantly better than whites in these tests, even though it's not made for them culturally. It doensn't mean "whites are dumber than asians and blacks are dumber than whites". It's just the common average. If you were to pick a random japanese person and a random american/european white person, the japanese would on AVERAGE score about 5-6 points higher on an IQ test. Deviation exists though, the white person could get 127 and the japanese guy could get 97, while a black guy got 131. One test means nothing and shouldn't be basis for racist generalizations.
-
The study was conducted by University of Western Ontario and Berkeley.. Search "iq differences" on their site for a hundred more studies they've done on the subject.. http://www.uwo.ca/ It's not racist, it's just a statistical fact, regardless of labeling people as 'caucasians' or 'african americans' (really ignorant term, as not all black people are even from africa). Asians score slightly higher on IQ tests than whites, whites score slightly higher than blacks, who score slightly higher than aboriginals... Hardly racism if it's the result of objective testing.. Is it racism to say black people are better athletes than other ethnicities for example? No.. They just in general have a physique better fit for some sports like running. It's a fact, and it's not racist to admit it. Comparing physiques, just like in the above comparing IQ levels, white or asian people generally can't beat a black person in running track, etc.. Purely because of genetic reasons
