Use this good site for calculating how much you eat after determining your base metabolic rate: http://www.thecaloriecounter.com/ Eat less than the recommended calories per day @ your weight, plus excercise = You lose weight. Fortunately it's not rocket science. Eating patterns alone can make you lose all the weight you want, depending on how much of a 'loss' we're talking about.

Saakashvili: U.S. to take control of Georgian ports
BlueLancer replied to Latinoking's topic in Off-Topic
Could add a similar rule to some other off-topic forums and add warnings for repeated posting of claims without sources/that don't exist, but discussion would die out here. A lot of posters are age 14-17 with no real knowledge of history in Europe/Russia/general warfare or political reality. The average poster will think USA is superior and it's citizens more valuable than those of other nations, that terrorists are "crazy", and their country is 'liberating' every country they have military operations in. Since it's not rule breaking though, there's no way to filter out those messages, even ignorant opinions are still opinions. -
Who is God to YOU? (Not necessarily a Theist question)
BlueLancer replied to The Dark Lord's topic in Off-Topic
I believe in extreme realism. Thus, I try to see the world objectively for what it is without superstition or unprovable beliefs. Almost everything in the world revolves around money. A lot of people spend 8+ hours a day doing things they don't want to do.. Just to get money. People kill each other, stab each other, betray, break alliances, destroy families, steal, lie, cheat, form gangs, attack other nations, marry falsely, sell their body, sell their integrity, because of money. In that aspect I hate money, but it seems to be almost a God in the modern world. It controls everything that exists and that is allowed to exist. If a thing or project runs out of money to maintain it, it ceases to exist. Ultimately, people are only motivated to do anything besides being brutal animals, by money. -
Had to remove some posts. Please don't make fun of a guy even if he's played a bit too much Call of Duty and could be delusional. It happens every now and then.

2012 Olympics Ceremony - let's not throw away over $300mil?
BlueLancer replied to Johannas's topic in Off-Topic
It's surprising people would rather fund a ceremony of a stupid contest of mostly kicking, punching, slamming and throwing various types of balls for no particular reason, than give it to people who would significantly benefit from even a small sum of that total $300M. The olympics is great to watch, but it's just a contest. It doesn't matter who wins. Heck, if the whole Beijing 2008 olympics got cancelled, it wouldn't matter. It's entertainment. I love sports but human lives come always before entertainment. Thinking otherwise is extremely arrogant, immature and evil. A human with proper ethics and morals will never put a contest over another person's life. -
If you browse Yahoo answers for more than 2 minutes I think you'll find it disturbingly impossible all those people are really just "trying to be funny". http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/in ... 918AAWUFs0 ....... This guy seems to agree too.

I always wondered.. Who are the idiots on Yahoo answers always voting down the witty replies (or even correct ones)? Or do they really not know there is a country called Georgia somewhere? That place (yahoo answer boards) seems like a joke anyways. Almost like 4chan, just with genuine morons instead of trolls/twisted people. Really, look through some Yahoo answers and replies. You can't help but feel mutual shame with other readers. Your first thought will probably be, "bunch of trolls". The truth will become more and more apparent later on when you realize the questions are serious.

Efficient teaching methods and teachers for the most part... They also invest a lot of money in pedagogic studies about children's learning behaviors, studying patterns, etc., then apply those strategies & principles countrywide to school curriculums. Sadly in some other countries, the only pattern is "give them a textbook, make them read it", leading into disasterous study results especially in poorer nations.. That kind of 'learning' isn't even education. If the book/teacher doesn't stimulate the student intellectually, increase his/her critical thinking abilities, it's not education. Then you're just memorizing a bunch of text and letters & missing the deeper point behind them. These countries, like Togo, Tadjikistan, Moldova, will never get an improved economy & corruption free government if they keep raising children in an environment which practically dumbens them down to a lower intellectual level compared to western countries.

Saakashvili: U.S. to take control of Georgian ports
BlueLancer replied to Latinoking's topic in Off-Topic
Yeah, because most insurgents in Iraq weren't originally people protecting their homes and doing exactly what you'd do if a foreign nation started assaulting your country. Suicide bombings aren't an exclusively islamic thing. It happens in Spanish separatist regions, Ireland, Korea, China... You make it sound as if insurgents in Iraq are some mass of unorganized fanatics only motivated by religion. Nobody is only motivated by religion, not even extremists like Hamas in Palestine. The only real thing they want to achieve is political power and wealth on the shadow of "religion". Maybe if your entire family and siblings died as "collateral damage" in a failed US airstrike to find a 'terrorist leader', you had no job or future prospects, you wouldn't have particular regard for your life anymore either, compared to the rage you'd have against the country that destroyed your entire life. -
Maybe some people have trouble differing between "dead" and "I already listened to all their songs & hate they're getting new fans I deem lame".

He has a legitimate question though... That other topic just lists MMORPG's in general, not ones that are like RS+ playable in a browser. MU online, Lineage, other games listed on that thread etc... Have nothing in common with RuneScape. This game isn't very similar to RS, but at least it's browser based with a medieval theme: http://www.seafight.com/ (Who doesn't like pirates :D )

Well just to comment the very top one.. It looks like a cheap marker fake, could be a fabrication, but hard to judge based on just a pic.. http://www.eyelid.co.uk/hiero1.htm Has translations and latin letter equivalents for Egyptian hieroglyphs though, but I couldn't recognise them in those pieces you own. (Except possibly the letter 'A', the bird)

I've watched tons of american football games, it's not that it's a bad game, it takes a lot of physical strength and cunning.. But compared to a 0-0 soccer game that could have a ton of exciting situations or even missed penalties (plus the game is never cut off bar corners/goal kicks), an american football game is boring as hell. You see some 15-20 seconds of gameplay and listen to minutes and minutes of recap about what just happened. I always do something else while watching AFL (But you're right, 0-0's are dumb, some bookmakers even offer refunds on losing '1st goal scorer' bets or final results if no goals have been scored, which is rare considering this isn't offered in any other sport)
-
Sorry Latinoking but you're very misguided at least on the part about good education... American public education is less than mediocre at best, U.S. schools do horrible in international comparisons of mathematics, reading comprehension... And the quality of teaching is in most cases horrible. I guess you can't really blame the public for not knowing common countries on the map or arrogantly thinking they're the best and most admired country in the world if that's how their education has been; Low on content.

Damn tip.it, YouTube tags not working again.. But yeah that vid is an even better example of how intense a penalty shootout can really be. (Amazing save as well)

The russian monster looks much more convincing. I flat out refuse to believe or even seriously consider any more amateur-taken grainy shots of "bigfoot". They pop up every year or so and always turn out to be false/a costume made by 2 bored, unemployed guys who wanted to earn a quick buck by shocking others. Maybe if it was some researcher from an university or overseas professor from Japan etc.. But just "some guy".. Nah.
-
Agree about the shootout part (even though I like soccer otherwise too)... Probably one of the hardest tasks in the sports world falls to the goalkeeper in that situation. You stand in front of a massive goal and must deflect a ball coming 80mph at you, which could come from ANY direction. That's intense. Especially if the goalkeeper actually manages to save. Look at this Euro 2008 penalty save for example... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CU_GuBDy1ag http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CU_GuBDy1ag Hitting a baseball is child's play compared to the pressure THAT guy is under (he's arguably the world's best goalkeeper though)

In like 2002 on Scapeboard there was a bug sometimes which would allow you to multi-post with smilies, so I made 10 posts on a topic in 1 second just to see if it really works for raising post count  [/confession] But yeah.. My first post is too old to be found too.

Like Echo kindly posted... It's not a fake this time.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7553061.stm But it only works on a nano-scale so it obviously can't hide objects that can be seen by the human eye, yet. In the future, probably yes.

Sure, everyone "wants" to make good money like 80,000$ per week... But a lot of pro-footall players are almost kids. Some professionals even in Serie A or Premier League are just 17 to 21 years old. You can't expect them to be steel-tough professionals, they have a lot of emotion involved and can be unstable sometimes. They're practically coerced into joining a good team by a manager, even if they DID want to continue with a worse, local team. They will be told how big of a mistake they're making by not moving in, that they will waste their life & sports career etc... Players don't dictate those salaries, the clubs who desperately need young new talent practically shove it down their throat.
-
WOW. Just by reading the description and replies, I knew it would look like a pseudo-artistic, cartoony black & white game. Not that I'm judging it; That's stupid to do without playing it first. But it does look like an eyesore to play for more than maybe 20 minutes.

Heh, you should've been watching this game last night.. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore?gid=280812102 Friggin' insane. Red Sox made 10 runs just in the first inning. Some crappier teams in MLB don't get 10 runs in 5 *matches*.

what's the highest prime number atm? With modern software that's available for this purpose.. It doesn't really matter. New ones are being found all the time, and there isn't a final prime number. They can go on practically forever. If you're desperate to know though, check this site.. http://www.bigprimes.net/archive/prime. ... =147121206 Maybe that's what I should call my poker sessions from now on... (Non hold'em players wont get the joke  ) Since 90% of the play just involves throwing away trash cards..

I still don't understand how Superbowl is watched by like 40% of the entire american population when it's aired. Watching american football on TV must be the most boring thing you can use a television for. Watching live is somewhat bearable though. Soccer has nothing on AF in terms of boredom; At least in soccer you have to keep the ball moving all the time, and a goalkeeper can even get yellow/red carded for keeping the ball for longer than some 10-15 seconds. I'm actually rooting for some teams (would make a few bucks with Colts/NE Patriots winning this year), it's just that you're dead on. I can't stand watching it on TV either.

The russian military doesn't have AK47's in wide circulation anymore.. (Nor do they have those tall, funny-looking hats, if any stereotype-searcher was wondering) They've been long replaced by AK74 and AK101 (which uses 5.56 NATO cartridges) and Kord 12.7mm heavy machine guns which have significantly more power than the american equivalents of M60/M249 Really, some people still think we're in the cold war era and russians have big uniforms and old kalashnikovs. The world changes, get information accordingly (not directed to you but some other people here) Russia also has a significantly bigger stockpile of nuclear weapons compared to any other country, not very likely they'll see usage though.
