Usually, because females are often physically weaker, so it's seen as 'cowardly'. But even in very liberal cultures like nordic ones, family violence is a real issue as well. If a woman hits a man, they can expect to be hit back. Equality in every issue..? Gender doesn't make you immune to retaliation in life... I'd need a really heavy reason to hit anybody at all now, but if a woman was picking a fight on me, why'd I just let her punch me and sit there turning the other cheek like a jerk and saying "calm down"?

Heh, just tried this. It does work, the quality is about 100% better than the originals I got saved. (On a very rare occassion it will display the vid title as "beijing 2008" or something weird though) Seems like one of those neat things you hope wouldn't spread too fast :lol: They'll probably remove it if too many people start using that

Racists and neo-nazis would still find some excuse like "he's only half black", but you're right it would do a LOT to improve equality in the entire world as well, seeing a person from a minority group can actually become the leader of a free country (not sure how free the US is anymore, but it's just an icon). I don't quite understand the McCain voters though. Do they vote for him, just because they don't like Obama? If you are voting for McCain.. You're basically saying "bring on Bush's 3rd term". His voting record in 2008 is 100% with Bush (and 95% in 2007). I'm not a huge Obama fan, but it escapes my mind what rationale anyone would have for electing a carbon copy of a failure, with the exception that he's even more agressive/war-minded and has been tortured as a prisoner of war..

There's only so much fresh water and resources before people start realizing you can't share things anymore... A bit more realistic scenario, but hopefully wont happen during our lifetime. And it still wouldn't be the end of the world, it's just that the world population would be 'shaved' by some 99%..

The chat censor should be an option that can be turned on/off. It's quite embarrassing the most childish game in the world, Habbo Hotel which is for 8-12 year old kids.. Has the option to turn on/off chat filter. Yet a fantasy game such as RS has an overly sensitive chat censor which can't be even turned off.

There's no such thing yet, and all official betas are exclusively posted on Runescape.com or Jagex.com. Anything else is a blatant keylogger/trojan to steal your pass. A classic lure tactic is like the one above by Twista881, which will have info like "It's cool, but I don't know if this is legit. It has no wildy but GE works though" to make it sound convincing. Don't fall for those. As said, if it's not on any of Jagex's official sites, it's a scam.

Sorry but that's a very naive way of thinking. How do you think inland gangsters who aren't even near harbors/ports even in the USA can get access to full automatic weapons or gun brands only used by the police? Use your imagination. (Hint: Low paid employees, corrupt army storage workers) The more guns you pump in any place, the bigger the flow will be to criminals as well. Give 1,000 guns to teachers. A steady 10-50 will "disappear" every year due to dishonest or fired teachers.

We'll just let them kill each other off with their precious guns ;) Is flaming people who wish teachers to have some sort of defense really necessary? It's sick and warped. How many school shootings really happen out of the hundreds of thousands of schools? Does every teacher really need to be paranoid someone in the classroom is going to massacre everyone? Giving 'combat training' to teachers sounds absurd. If someone's going to kill their classmates, they will already know the teacher has a gun. There's no stopping it at that point, they'll just start shooting on lunch break or somewhere with no teachers. The only, single way to prevent those shootings is to evaluate mental health of students who are worryingly depressed, miss a lot of school for no reason, feel sad/suicidal way too much, and help them.

Just as personal opinion.. It does seem extreme. And in some less radical islamic countries, young people don't adhere to the wishes of the family 100% when it comes to marriage. Even less so when it comes to muslims living in western countries. It's a backwards component of culture, which will probably be eradicated as people in those nations, especially women, become more educated. Remember, arranged marriage was a normal part of life in all european countries since thousands of years up to WW1. After that, people in Europe started being conscious about their rights and humanity (instead of embracing the idea they are inferior to royals and authorities, and that women are just possessions). Forced/arranged marriage practically doesn't exist anywhere in EU anymore.

Yes but those islamic cultures (and to some degree hindu) are different when it comes to the concept of "marriage". It only includes taking care of the wife. If you "touch" her against the contract before she is of age, you pay with your blood and the marriage can be canceled. You might think they're barbaric sadists, but nobody really wants their own daughter to get abused. They pretty much make 100% sure nothing happens before she is 16-18. I strongly oppose the idea of forcing people to marry though... It essentially makes you just a bargaining item, instead of a free human being..

Like The_Who said.. There are much more "extreme" cases than just a year of age difference. I guess it doesn't matter, unless the other person isn't of age. Like if you're 16/17, you can legally be with someone who's 18 in some countries or jurisdictions. But 15, 14, that's cutting the line and it's usually not acceptable, because the boy/girl is usually still undeveloped and basically still a child, compared to the person who is 18 or older. When you get older, it's no longer really a dilemma. 20 year old can be with 25... 25 can be with 35... It's problematic only when low age is involved (under 18). 1stly, you don't want to destroy that person's development and cause him/her harm. 2ndly, that's usually illegal, if the age difference is big, like 4-6 years, no matter how much the persons like each other. The older person in that situation could go to jail or at least get fined.

It's [bleep] insane to pay $400 dollars for a pair of denim jeans. Even quality Armani trousers and pants cost maybe $300 per piece, and those are hand-tailored in Italy with best possible cloth materials and professional workers. "True Religion" jeans are made in some Thai sweatshop which abuses kids and uses recycled materials.

Nobody else wearing straight pants every now and then, even casually? (I mostly wear tan colour). Man I feel like a friggin' pensioner. Jeans is the main selection usually, though.

I'd have to disagree... In all parts of the world, "leftist" policy means non-conservative and progressive, 'right-wing' is conservative and sometimes backwards, mostly favouring the wealthier population. That doesn't mean all leftist parties are good and all rightwing parties are bad. In some countries, leftist parties don't get anything done. In many nordic countries, right wing coalition parties have wide popular support despite their policies being largely based on pure capitalism/favouring wealthy people and corporations

Yet you still do it. Including you? Unless you're farming your own food in some deserted place, you're no better than any of us. Buying locally produced food is an ideal situation. People in scandinavia buying nordic foods, people in Zimbabwe buying southern African foods, people in USA buying american, canadian & mexican produced food, people in Japan buying food produced in Korea, Japan China, etc... In the current model, food flows out of starving countries into western countries so their food chains can sell it for cheaper (due to low labour costs). It makes no sense. Buying & selling local produce is a big key to solving hunger. (The only question remains, how will the local population earn enough money to buy it)
