  1. Heh, that made me think, OP could sell his main on ebay or something :twss: I actually have a friend that did that, and he made $1k with an account that is not as good as your main lol. Well not only is it strictly agaisnt rules, but if rules aren't a concern for you, while trying to make pure real life profit from Runescape GP, you'll eventually have to use certain wealth transfer patterns (such as bounty hunter tricks to die intentionally), and Jagex tracks those carefully & likely have computer models to calculate which players are abusing the system, dying too often, etc. Is it worth losing an account over? A few measly bucks... And if you get caught for gold selling, which is pretty much Jagex's public enemy #1, they will likely ban all accounts linked to your IP address, which means you lose your main account, PK accounts, possible other accs etc... It's just not a lucrative business, don't do it.
  2. Technically no, despite how easy it is or even if 'everyone does it', because tip.it must abide by the rules Jagex has set. Nothing can stop you from discussing it in private messages/msn though, just not encouraged.
  3. Reb, I know those figures can sound weird and you're justified to be skeptical, but rest assured, the leg press capacity of most people is often 3-10x higher than their bench pressing ability, even if they barely ever do lower body training (a quick anatomy check, even on your own body, will show the obvious reason as to why your thigh/leg muscles can deal with so much weight compared to chest/bicep muscles) Back when I was starting to work out, I could barely bench press some 100 pounds (50 kg), yet I could easily pull off 500lb (250kg)on the leg press. It sounds crazy, but it's really not. Years later, my bench press is at a maximum of about 260lbs (~130kg), yet my leg press nears the 1000lb (500kg) mark and I only do lower body training 1 time a week. There's professionals who can do 1000kg (2000lb) leg presses easy, it's pretty fun to watch them stack all those weight plates  That's literally a ton of weight... uSNvEpH2L1o Yes, Reb, It sounds crazy, but some people can actually do 8 reps with 1150kg of leg press weight. (2300 pounds)

    Diablo 's

D1 and D2 are amongst the best games I've played. Especially the atmosphere/music in the original Diablo is fantastic, it's multiplayer mode is long dead though (not surprising given it was launched on battle.net 11 years ago) Absolutely looking forwards to D3, even though the colour scheme seems a bit flashy, colorful/WoW'like... Heck, the screens/gameplay vids they've given out were of a pre-beta build. Things will probably get much darker in the deeper hell dungeons.
  5. Going by strict logic and laws of probability, even though I don't believe in paranormal/supernatural/outworldly stuff, it would be ignorant to think there isn't any intelligent life in the vast universe besides our tiny little planet. It's almost inevitable given the amount of existing stars/planets/stellar systems The topic question, though, was basically "have you seen any lately". There's no verifiable evidence in existence that other assumed life forms have ever visited Earth (grainy youtube videos don't count as proof), it would be kind of absurd to think they suddenly become visible in Oct 14-17, just another 'scam'.. Prof. Stephen Hawking has written a very interesting (though lenghty) study/essay on the forming of life in the universe, you can read it http://www.hawking.org.uk/lectures/life.html
  6. If you believe in God: No one has a right to take on the role of God and choose to kill themselves. Life and death is determined by God, not by man. But I guess one could make the point that we don't have a right to prolong life then via medical technologies. I don't see how religion comes into it, not only are there countless religions, I can't recall any scriptures or books which specificly prohibit aiding a person who genuinely wishes to die (such as being 80 years old, excruciating pains, lying in his own feces all day, no vision and weak hearing, unable to walk). To me it would seem cruel as hell to keep a person living a half-life such as that. If my situation ever got that bad, I'd definitely ask to be euthanized. Not only does it save society's/the hospitals resources for people who can actually live a real life, my relatives wouldn't have to worry anymore, I'd be relieved of pain, everyone wins.
  7. The social stigma with not tithing is pretty devastating especially if it's a close-knit community or a smaller town, at least when I went to church with my grandfather before age 12, *everyone* gave something. In all reality church donations/tithes aren't 'compulsory', but 'expected', which doesn't make it so voluntary at all.
  8. That's really a logical paradox... If you don't believe they exist (as they most likely don't), why would anyone claiming to have seen them wield any credibility? Also, 100% no offense meant, but sometimes americans seem like their ego is bigger than the moon.. Why out of all 200+ countries of the world, aliens are always supposed to visit USA? Probably not a coincidence that USA likely has the biggest number of tinfoil-hat nutjobs who propagate those theories, compared to any other country. Hence it has the most UFO "sightings" and people who claim they were abducted in the middle of the night. "Aliens" are just as much of a hoax as the mandatory annual "bigfoot" which always turns out to be a fake, like this year
  9. Sarah Palin fetches 0 results in 2001. So does Bittorrent & YouTube. Technology/the world sure as heck changes fast. This is an extremely interesting feature; You can search future events and see if any predictions or rumors were true, who had inside information, etc... (For example you can search future book titles and find out a few people/sources had information about them years ahead) BTW: This guy writing about 'internet in 2008' was extremely accurate with his predictions, not bad given he wrote it in 1998: http://www.useit.com/papers/internetworld2008.html it's almost exactly as he describes it. World drug report 2000: http://web.archive.org/web/200108011736 ... eport.html Ha-ha..
  10. Heh, I got 36. But I don't feel depressed or suicidal at all. Maybe a bit empty inside ever since about age 16, but depressed.. No.
  11. Confusing thread really, I've been to multiple parties/occassions where semi-formal didn't involve a tie at all. Maybe a blazer jacket and a good italian white shirt, but never a tie. (Maybe the customs are different in some parts of Usa/Europe) Usually, a (neck)tie is only worn when the host requires "formal dresscode" in the invitation. If it's a party a bowtie might be used.
  12. If you can't get a job, there's still plenty of ways to earn cash.. [*:pz6au160]If you have anything left (I got a bit confused whether you actually have $190 or spent it on repaying the loan), buy & sell value items near your home area or online. These include gold/silver items such as chains, bracelets, etc. which are worth around $100, you can easily find a buyer for $10-$20+ above what you paid, buy another one after a sale & repeat [*:pz6au160]Humility card: Accept household chores for pocket change, mainly to fuel the paintballing sessions since that's a somewhat unnecessary expense [*:pz6au160]If you're old enough, buy & resell cigarettes to college kids at about $2 above retail pack value. I don't condone smoking, but from a business viewpoint it's a lucrative trade [*:pz6au160]Fate/Random chance card: Play casino games which have a high mathematical % chance of victory, including but not limited to: Roulette (colours/odd-even only, roughly 50% chance), Blackjack, Texas Hold'em (against other players). Sports betting can also realistically yield good profits if you do your research before every match [*:pz6au160]Odd-job card: Offer to paint fences or mow lawns/clean garages when opportunity arises or you see posters, low pay but at least it's something, even if your town has no jobs, these will inevitably pop up occassionally [*:pz6au160]Desperation card: Take part in street fights for money, offer to enforce loan repayment from stubborn people, start playing bagpipes in a street corner for coins, wash car windshields in traffic lights Also you can decide how badly you really need some of those things, like $100 just for 'throwing around' on movies and friends (it's not a big sum, but if you're budgeting it is)
  13. Effects of ecstacy are also dependent on the physical characteristics of the person using them. Without going too much in-depth (and tip.it isn't really a place to discuss drugs, the topic was about raves, understandable why it drifted though), weight, addictive personality, mental fortitude, determine how strongly you get addicted/how strongly it affects you or if it makes you hallucinate/alter your sense of reality at all. Without a doubt alcohol is a safer party substance than x pills, still as recreational drugs, they both cause problems after usage, strong % alcohol also causes liver dysfunctions and impairs your driving ability if you're going home from a party, it's not a saintly alternative to drugs. The best option is staying away from both whenever possible, there's plenty of alternative ways to have fun even at a rave
  14. From a purely non-legal and objective business viewpoint, that plan is made for failure. The risk-reward ratio, to be blunt, sucks. Assume you are slightly skilled and have about 10-20% chance of getting caught and you act alone & nobody's there to take the blame for you... In the long run, by statistics the more you steal consecutively, the more likely you're getting caught.. The final scenario always ends up with you owning a permanent criminal record for a measly few bucks, maybe even getting fined for what small amounts of profit you might have made. $500 isn't worth a criminal record, not even $5000. Even if you were trolling, think logically; It's doomed to fail.
  15. It's rare to see someone admit that. It's funny how so many people tell us that they don't even care about their post count, yet I'm willing to bet anything that it is one of the main motivators for posting. By the way, I'm guilty of this too. *Cough* What are you listening to? On the subject of post counts, you guys might find this interesting: memberlist.php?sk=d&sd=d&mode= Recognise any names? Yep.. The 'core' of tip.it users are mainly off-topic posters, past or present, retired or active. I thought it wouldn't be that way, just found out after reading this topic and checking it out of curiosity. Funny that 0.003% of the userbase, or 50 people in other words, have made roughly 10% of the total posts on tip.it.
  16. That's not the problem.. Internet businesses do work, & are worth billions of dollars a year... The problem is the "small guy" can't just tap into an online market already filled to the brink with corporations, investors, criminals, small businesses, with the snap of a finger. Your chances are pretty much limited to affiliating with sites like amazon.com/cafepress.com for 5-10% sales commissions, gaining small income with Google Adsense links on your low-medium traffic site, etc... That's just how it works, and it's already gone past the point of no return. If you don't have $10k-$500k set for various aspects of online business (especially driving traffic to the site after the concept stage), just don't bother. You'll just get too much headache and too small compensation compared to the stress of working with no capital/few hundred bucks trying to scape together *anything*. (There's the occassional exception of media hits like 'milliondollarhomepage.com' but those niches have been pretty much filled too)
  17. It's just one temporary emotion amongst others. Funny how in popular culture it's made into a mythical end-it-all emotion which upon achieving, you acquire earthly bliss and inner peace. At least the american constitution makes it clear, every person has the right to a pursuit of happiness, not to happiness itself. How could everyone be guaranteed an emotion? They come and go depending on your life situation. Can you 'achieve' anger by hitting someone? Can you 'achieve' fear by being robbed? No, so how can you 'achieve' happiness if, say, your child is born or you recieve a present/meet with an old friend? You're experiencing emotions, not 'achieving' them. Then again, I guess it sounds better than "pursuit of wrath" or jealousy. You can't be happy all the time.. You can't be sad, envious or angry all the time. Your life changes, and so do your emotions.. Make the best of them and enjoy the happy moments while you can.
  18. Is it really worth a single album? 300 million cans of Dr.Pepper plus transportation costs will be probably somewhere near half a billion dollars, all ultimately for 'advertisement'. Coke and Pepsi already do promos at sports events and hand out free cans, they really ought to think what they're promising, sounds really expensive. Then again, even if Axl declines, they've got a load of free advertisement & media publicity for their drink at $0 cost, maybe they're gambling on the notion he'll never release the album.
  19. It doesn't make sense to make a new business in an oversaturated market like t-shirts. It will take you a lifetime to recoup just the set-up costs and equipment unless you have some revolutionarily funny or witty shirts for sale. If you still want in the t-shirt business, become an affiliate for sites like CafePress & create your own designs. They pay for all the printing, staff, equipment, customer support, while you get a sale commission. Of course, to be able to convert your website traffic into actual sales & people who buy your product... You need some traffic to begin with. Start with planning that, what would make Joe Average buy from your site/recommend it to others? Catchy design, low prices, genuinely funny punchlines on the shirts? If you fail that stage, there really wont be any sales, since nobody will be visiting the site in the first place. One of the best ways to drive traffic to your site is Google Adwords, but as you can see with a quick search, t-shirt sales online are really an ultra-saturated market. There's over 20 pages of sponsored results, you'll have to pay ridiculous sums like $2 per click to get anywhere near the top results.
  20. It's extremely rare to meet a person with a view like this, but I actually agree myself. If I ever turn into a 'vegetable' like that and get alzheimers+my life consists of no conscience, lying in a bed in your own feces, being fed through tubes... I'd rather just end my life. Not because I'd be suicidal or hate myself/my life, but to be less of a burden to the people dear to me. I don't know anyone in my family who wouldn't support euthanasia if one of us were to be in excruciating, chronic pain after an accident/etc., I love my parents with all my heart but if my mother/father were immobilized, in pain, couldn't see or hear almost anything, no taste/touch senses, why wouldn't I listen to their wish if they wanted to be put out of misery? I'd just appreciate it, if someone did it for me in that situation. It'd mean the person cared about you, not by forcefully extending your irreversible pain, but by relieving you of it.
  21. I'm not really even a kiddo anymore, and quit playing RS actively in like 2003 or so. I'm sick of other forums and their massive influxes of immature users though, I even gave up moderating multiple other sites years ago due to the idiotic, childish communities (plus inadequate admin staff letting complete morons and personal friends to be admins & ban innocent people they disliked). And well, IGN forums just booted out all non-suckup moderator staff once they went totally commercial. Tip.it usually has a nice quality of offtopic posts, it's fun to browse just like news bulletins, slashdot/engadget-style sites, despite the average user being quite young here. And sometimes you're made aware of some recent event or thing you didn't hear about in other places.
  22. I remember back in school, the walls were plastered with anti-smoking posters and other 'smoking is bad for you' material. All it did was encourage the angsty teenagers to pick up smoking and gain even more persistence towards continuing smoking. It had the reverse effect. How many people will drop recreational marijuana and the feeling associated just because of a 30-second TV spot? How many people using hard drugs and spending thousands of $ on injectable heroin will just reject their pleasures because an ad at a bus station told them to? That 'awareness' money could be spent towards rehabilitation clinics and things that actually help. It's like those 'cancer awareness' commercials. They'd better spend it on actual research. Frankly, prevention is the best way to fight any problem, but you can't tackle drug users with cheap ads. If the people using them have stubborn enough personalities to even consider doing hard drugs, they really wont give a damn about an insignificant small ad campaign against it

I don't really want to point any names, since even some of my friends do this.. But I also find it very pretentious and the person in question is occassionally full of themselves :P Really... No need to sign normal posts with *~CoOlPrinCeZz~*, everyone can already see your name by looking to the left, what's the point?
  24. Yeah, I admit it'd make sense to teach that to my kid... But the sad thing is, some people take that mentality with them all the way up to 20-50 years old or even to the grave. Well, it's their loss. As with everything in life it's good to be cautious, within good taste though.. Not everyone's out there to get you.
  25. Reminds me of all that b.s. I learnt as a kid about 'don't trust strangers'.. Sure, your parents mean the best for you, but that could really alienate a person from society in general. I mean... To everybody else except your circle of friends and immediate family, you're a stranger in the world to the 99.999999+% of people who don't know you. Better just accept them as humans instead of picturing them all as blood-hungry exploiters, shady molesters in trench coats and fedora hats. Interestingly I've found that school of thought has the least support in southern Europe, and particularly France/Spain/Italy. The people there are very social and can even have long conversations in a café with a person they never met before. Besides maybe California or some of the old-fashioned southern states, that kind of friendliness is really pretty extinct in the States, and in the world in general.
