2007 - Old School RuneScape... You Vote! - [It's Here!]
999134 post, post #1491 tenko. Like I said in my edit, he said that he'll make up a small difference on the 500k level, and he considered small 20k. So I won't put it pass him to do it at 250k. But whatever, doesn't matter. Doesn't make a difference anyway.

I don't suppose the fact that they've done it before counts? My proof How's this proof that Jagex is cheating? I had to edit it because I fail at quoting, but he basically said he'll make up the difference. See 999134 post on page 75. He said he'll do it for 500k, but I wouldn't put it pass him to do it for 250k.

Yeah. It feels like they want to make me feel bad for not voting, like "HAAAAAAAAAAAA! YOU MISSED OUT! BEST [bLEEP] EVA!" But then I think about what I'll do 2 weeks from now, 2 months, and 2 years from now. I know once I set foot off tutorial island, I wouldn't want to come back. I enjoy a good protion of update for Jagex (clearly in the minority) and even thou the graphic aren't top class, I know I'll enjoy the main game more than 2007. A big reason for 2007scape was pking and no GE. As much as it would be fun to hawk my steel longswords in lumby, I don't wanna go back and get those mining and smithing levels again. And I don't do much PvP. So as great as free is, it's not for me. I rather get a quest cape and wait for more quest. Oh and fashionscape.

Grainy ... 2100 Total ... Questing?
I used a guide for MEP2. Cba to remember half that [bleep]. I suppose it was the guide that made me indifferent to the quest. Or the fact that I was playing ewith colors. If you do MEP1 and 2, I suggest jumping right into Within the light. I still have that quest sitting as started in my log...:P

Grainy - Hello!
I will never understand why people will pull thing like this instead of pplying their skills to say, getting a college degree or starting a business. In any event, welcome, and stop by the HYT chat (Serpent Eye) sometime (if you don't already). :)

[hide] People who are arrogant, delusional, abrasive and needlessly combative deserve to be told "I told you so", ruthlessly, when their fantasies inevitably crumble. You will find no sympathy for such people here. --------- As to the discussion on rares. Again, if the whole point is to recreate 2007, then it cannot be denied that rares were part of the experience. Now to adress a few general complaints on the issue: A) Some people might not want them back. Reply: Others will. B) There's no fair way to distribute them. Reply: Sure there is. Boss drops, random drop parties, early bird quests, what have you, there are dozens of ways to do it. C) This will make many people rich by sheer virtue of luck. Reply: Luck has *always* been a part of the game. D) They won't have the same economic impact as they originally did. Reply: That's certainly true that they won't be as impactful, but that's a matter of degree. As long as they are released in a limited supply, they will *eventually* be worth something, though obviously not as much as they are in the original game for various obvious reasons. Now, I, personally, don't want them back, but then I won't be playing this game anyways. I'm speaking primarily from the perspective of players who might, and also from the perspective that if they are going to go through with this, then what I have suggested would be the way to 'recreate' the ordeal (assuming that is the goal). [/hide] I don't really see a problem with adding rares into 2007 Runescape. But the wealth issue some people have with introducing rares is not as bad as they think. If we model this like a (non-cooperative) game (like Game Theory, not videogame) at best we can assume every player is rational and common knowledge exist. You know rares are coming into 2007scape, I know rares are coming into 2007scape. We want said rares. You know that I know rares are coming into 2007scape. I know that you know that I know rares are coming into 2007scape. And so on. Because we are both rational (and we know we are rational) players when rares are in fact introduced we'll get them. This is just a 2 person game but apply it to every player in 2007scape what you'll find is because of common knowledge of rationality every player will have a rare. What you'll then find is that there will be a surplus of rares. Even if given out for 1 day because of common knowledge of rationality the quantity of rares supplied will greatly exceed the quantity of rares demanded. In a surplus, price must drop to equilibrium levels, all else constant. However, this is at best what will happen. Given the potential size of 2007scape, we can't expect common knowledge for all players. Also, having a rare is not rational for every player. But back when rares first hit the game, no one predicted it would be so huge today. No one knew, it was just a nice hat to wear that you could trade. Now, people know, and that's something close to common knowledge. So we are likely to see rares in 2007scape appear like Fish mask/Christmas tree hat now. *Rationality is the context refers to the fact that each player picks a strategy that he/she prefers the most. Therefore, a "rational" player in this context looks to maximize their utility. It does not have to be monetary gains. This can also explain why Jagex introducing the fish mask and such into RS was not a bad thing, at least for the short run.

Suspicious.Cloud.7.F from DGSweeper?
So I download DGSweeper when Norton alerted me about this Suspicious.Cloud.7.F. It then proceeded to remove the following, C:\user\meghan\documents\dgssweeper\resource.dll 1) What is this suspicious.cloud? I searched and was told it could be made into malware? 2) Am I in trouble and do I need to run a full scan (I ran one last week) 3) Can I still use DGSweeper? Thanks Edit: Pretty sure it's broken. This does not look right at all: [hide][/hide] Edit Edit: I found out what happened after stumbling on another page in the forums. I fixed it. Thanks to the out page on here! :D

I just LOVE the fact that you are the first person to project an actual math based prediction of votes (not 5 votes/second or other laughable middle school arithmitic comparison) and all the fanboys just gazed over it like it was nothing. Only person who noticed it besides me was druv, who obviously has an decent understanding of mathematics as well. Thank you for making that post. According to that predicition we can safely assume the end result will be way below 200k - numbers don't lie, people do. I looked at it earlier and i wanted to wait and see what Sy would put up. But I fell asleep. This is well under everyone's prediction, which is surprising for me considering Jagex sent an email to everyone, including F2P accounts that haven't played in forever. Really changes the conversation a bit when mathematical proof like this shows that the community who wanted this aren't showing it.

It's not me who has to practice reading comprehension. I do think this part is pretty clear. I don't how many of them study Economic, but thre is alway and opportunity cost associated with something. That hired staff going to 2007 scape could go to the live game. Just sayin'.

We know this. We are giving reason as to why players will agree to this cash grab.

Ah delusional hope. I'm betting it falls short or maybe hits the 250k mark. Mmm with the rate of decline in votes thus far (combined with them being fairly slow to begin with) I'd estimate 250k is gonna be the final result at a stretch. But of course the next few hours will be critical as peak playtime ensues. Don't forget.

Just want to say that Mod MMG's post on the thread in general would seem to indicate otherwise. "Consider this, the more members that vote the cheaper it would ultimately be for everyone and hopefully reach the point where it doesn’t cost you a penny more and could simply be offered as part of your existing membership - Even if you don't intend to use it I think that's a nice thing to do for your friends." [qfc]14-15-832-64233878[/qfc] In the post under the f.a.q. he seems to be saying that the only reason not to vote is if you really do not want it. That's what we've been saying. Some of us don't want 2007 Runescape. So my original statement still stands. Voting because someone tells you to skews the results and doesn't paint an accurate picture. Plus the fact that h wants everyone to vote regardless is nothing new.

We understand your point. What I am saying and what I have been saying is the reason you feel the game is dead because players did not offer their constructive criticism when given the chance which cause a mess of things that could have been avoided. I also mentioned that while you claim the game is dead player have came back and that we only see the short run effect of EoC, not the long run. Had we waited to see what would happen in 6 month and 1 year, we could have very well seen a stronger community or a weak one. We don't know. We can't predict the future. What we do know is that a mess came because neither party communicates well and the party we belong to is afraid of change. Also, to anyone else thinking we are selfish. Most of use aren't trying to be (thou Jay seems like it, please don't be mad at me). We aren't voting becuase the vote is for those who REALLY want it. You skew results and give false information when you vote for others thinking they will not vote themselves. We don't want to do that. We want the people who truly want this to come back and vote because doing so proves they want this. And they have come back and done that.

Chincompas are like 100gp. Armours are down in price. Claws are 1m. The list goes on. Just check out the GE section of Runescapes site. Look through the lists. Runes are dirt cheap. Little use for deaths and bloods in main spellbook etc. Those aren't markets... Those are items that have very little purpose. Armors being down though? Bandos has gone up, and I think armadyl has too. Dragon stuff was already at alch price or cosmetic anyway, so don't go there. EDIT: I didn't mean to double post there. =/ Jagex said they didn't want claws to be the go to weapon. They wanted to add variety to help reinforce the combat triangle. Also, how is it that you said you don't care for combat, yet gave examples that are closely tied to combat. Not trying to bash you, just saying the mess came because no one wanted to try some new combat. Now we stuck with this nostalgia.

It's idiocy to assume that if you send them more money then the game will improve. They allocate the money you send them as they see fit not as you want it. You simply pay for the terms of service. If anything, they have done a great job of pissing it away on failed games, games that never come out, idiotic marketing, and bloated staff in cushy offices making music videos and partying all day. They've also reinvested more money than they made in profits to double the size of the Runescape team to allow them to bring high quality content more frequently (eg the much higher quality on quests) To be honest, I think thats bull. I've seen worse content in the last year than ever. I think its just Jagex trying to make a good image for them selves. What would you list as some of the worst content ever? Over the whole year, it lacked ALOT of quests, Most of them were so small. And Most again were reworks. Theres way to much focus on reworking (and sometimes downgrading). EoC was the biggest flop in Runescape. Not because the combat. Im not really into it. But I can say its not the worst. An update such as EoC did alot of damage to Runescape. What im angry about is Mod Mark was so ignorant in proving himself that he took ALOT if not most of the game content down with him. Dead minigames, quest rewards, useless weapons and armours. The list goes on. Not the combat its self I think thats a fair point to you EoC. One update to kill alot of updates? Bad spending, Bad leadership, Outragously bad development. Im not you love jagex and your EoC. But if you fail to see the damage it caused then just wow. [/hide] Double post much? Also, I think a lot of "bad" update you get is subjunctive. EoC isn't as bad as you make it out to be. It could be better but it did fix the combat triangle and add some variety to PvM. I don't feel as restrictive when I go boss hunting thou 2h weapon over power 1h and dual weilding. The reworked quest were reworked because they were outdated. Big Chincompa, God-Statues, Sinkholes, and Player Owned Ports aren't really dead D&D in my opinion. We don't fail to see anything. We have different opinions. I personaly think D&D are not very strong updates. Whilst i enjoyed sinkholes etc. They are nothing amazing, POP I love. But they were the only good recent updates. Like I said. Its not the combat. its the mess. Jay mentioned it before me, but EoC could have gone a lot better if player acknowledge the combat triangle and offer more constructive criticism to fix it. We would have then avoided the bigger "mess" that came. As much as player accuse Jagex of no communication, players are just as responsible. A player who mashes abilities in pvp against someone who uses them properly will be squashed like a bug in no time. I really don't think the 07 discussion should be all about EoC vs normal combat anyway, since these nostalgic sentiments have been around for years. I guess EoC just acted like a trigger, down to too much change in one go. I said it once early on and I'll say it again. Nostalgia is great, but we can't except to live there forever, things change and if the changes don't sit well you either offer way to improve them or accept that your taste have change and it's time to move on. The mess came because Jagex wanted to make a change and a lot of people are afraid of change. Jagex said we will show you our change and give you a chance to tell us how we can do better, because this change does need to happen. What did players do. Instead of offering idea when given the chance they [bleep]ed. Jagex got pissed and fluster and thus you have your mess. So we aren't idiots sir, we understand what you are saying. What we are saying is this mess came up because Jagex wanted to change combat. You may not care, but combat was a good reason for why we have all this nostalgia going on now. No one want to try anything new and be constructive in criticism. Also, calling us idiots don't support your argument.
